فلما جاء امرنا جعلنا عاليها سافلها وامطرنا عليها حجارة من سجيل منضود

[YA]: When Our Decree issued, We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay, spread, layer on layer,-

[RK]:When our judgment came, we turned it upside down, and we showered it with hard, devastating rocks.

فجعلنا عاليها سافلها وامطرنا عليهم حجارة من سجيل

[YA]: And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.

[RK]:We turned it upside down, and showered them with devastating rocks.

Yawma natwee alssamaakatayyi alssijlli lilkutubi kama bada/naawwala khalqin nuAAeeduhu waAAdan AAalayna innakunna faAAileena

يوم نطوي السماء كطي السجل للكتب كما بدانا اول خلق نعيده وعدا علينا انا كنا فاعلين

[YA]: The Day that We roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed),- even as We produced the first creation, so shall We produce a new one: a promise We have undertaken: truly shall We fulfil it.

[RK]:On that day, we will fold the heaven, like the folding of a book. Just as we initiated the first creation, we will repeat it. This is our promise; we will certainly carry it out.

[YA]: Striking them with stones of baked clay.

[RK]:That showered them with hard stones.
