Walanabluwannakum bishay-in mina alkhawfiwaaljooAAi wanaqsin mina al-amwali waal-anfusiwaalththamarati wabashshiri alssabireenaولنبلونكم بشئ من الخوف والجوع ونقص من الاموال والانفس والثمرات وبشرالصابرين
[YA]: Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere,

[RK]:We will surely test you through some fear, hunger, and loss of money, lives, and crops. Give good news to the steadfast.

Wadaraba Allahu mathalanqaryatan kanat aminatan mutma-innatanya/teeha rizquha raghadan min kulli makaninfakafarat bi-anAAumi Allahi faathaqaha Allahulibasa aljooAAi waalkhawfi bima kanooyasnaAAoonaوضرب الله مثلا قرية كانت امنة مطمئنة ياتيها رزقها رغدا من كل مكان فكفرت بانعم الله فاذاقها الله لباس الجوع والخوف بما كانوا يصنعون
[YA]: Allah sets forth a Parable: a city enjoying security and quiet, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place: Yet was it ungrateful for the favours of Allah: so Allah made it taste of hunger and terror (in extremes) (closing in on it) like a garment (from every side), because of the (evil) which (its people) wrought.

[RK]:GOD cites the example of a community that used to be secure and prosperous, with provisions coming to it from everywhere. But then, it turned unappreciative of GOD's blessings. Consequently, GOD caused them to taste the hardships of starvation and insecurity. Such is the requital for what they did.

Inna laka alla tajooAAa feehawala taAAraان لك الا تجوع فيها ولاتعري
[YA]: "There is therein (enough provision) for thee not to go hungry nor to go naked,

[RK]:"You are guaranteed never to hunger therein, nor go unsheltered.

La yusminu wala yughnee minjooAAinلايسمن ولايغني من جوع
[YA]: Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.

[RK]:It never nourishes, nor satisfies hunger.

Allathee atAAamahum min jooAAinwaamanahum min khawfinالذي اطعمهم من جوع وامنهم من خوف
[YA]: Who provides them with food against hunger, and with security against fear (of danger).

[RK]:For He is the One who fed them after hunger, and provided them with security after fear.
