[YA]: Can ye (o ye men of Faith) entertain the hope that they will believe in you?- Seeing that a party of them heard the Word of Allah, and perverted it knowingly after they understood it. [RK]:Do you expect them to believe as you do, when some of them used to hear the word of GOD, then distort it, with full understanding thereof, and deliberately? | ||||

[YA]: "What cause can we have not to believe in Allah and the truth which has come to us, seeing that we long for our Lord to admit us to the company of the righteous?" [RK]:"Why should we not believe in GOD, and in the truth that has come to us, and hope that our Lord may admit us with the righteous people?" | ||||

[YA]: Between them shall be a veil, and on the heights will be men who would know every one by his marks: they will call out to the Companions of the Garden, "peace on you": they will not have entered, but they will have an assurance (thereof). [RK]:A barrier separates them, while the Purgatory is occupied by people who recognize each side by their looks. They will call the dwellers of Paradise: "Peace be upon you." They did not enter (Paradise) through wishful thinking. | ||||

[YA]: Do no mischief on the earth, after it hath been set in order, but call on Him with fear and longing (in your hearts): for the Mercy of Allah is (always) near to those who do good. [RK]:Do not corrupt the earth after it has been set straight, and worship Him out of reverence, and out of hope. Surely, GOD's mercy is attainable by the righteous. | ||||

[YA]: It is He Who doth show you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope: It is He Who doth raise up the clouds, heavy with (fertilising) rain! [RK]:He is the One who shows you the lightning as a source of fear, as well as hope, and He initiates the loaded clouds. | ||||

[YA]: "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!" [RK]:"We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, especially that we are the first believers." | ||||

[YA]: "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. [RK]:"The One who hopefully will forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. | ||||

[YA]: And among His Signs, He shows you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope, and He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: verily in that are Signs for those who are wise. [RK]:Among His proofs is that He shows you the lightning as a source of fear, as well as hope, then He sends down from the sky water to revive a land that has been dead. In these, there are sufficient proofs for people who understand. | ||||

[YA]: Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them. [RK]:Their sides readily forsake their beds, in order to worship their Lord, out of reverence and hope, and from our provisions to them, they give. | ||||

[YA]: O Consorts of the Prophet! Ye are not like any of the (other) women: if ye do fear (Allah), be not too complacent of speech, lest one in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire: but speak ye a speech (that is) just. [RK]:O wives of the prophet, you are not the same as any other women, if you observe righteousness. (You have a greater responsibility.) Therefore, you shall not speak too softly, lest those with disease in their hearts may get the wrong ideas; you shall speak only righteousness. | ||||

[YA]: Does every man of them long to enter the Garden of Bliss? [RK]:How can any of them expect to enter the blissful Paradise? | ||||
