Qaloo odAAu lana rabbakayubayyin lana ma hiya qala innahu yaqooluinnaha baqaratun la faridun walabikrun AAawanun bayna thalika faifAAaloo matu/maroonaقالوا ادع لنا ربك يبين لنا ماهي قال انه يقول انها بقرة لافارض ولابكر عوان بين ذلك فافعلوا ماتؤمرون
[YA]: They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us what (heifer) it is!" He said; "He says: The heifer should be neither too old nor too young, but of middling age. Now do what ye are commanded!"

[RK]:They said, "Call upon your Lord to show us which one." He said, "He says that she is a heifer that is neither too old, nor too young; of an intermediate age. Now, carry out what you are commanded to do."

Qala rabbi ijAAal lee ayatan qalaayatuka alla tukallima alnnasa thalathataayyamin illa ramzan waothkur rabbakakatheeran wasabbih bialAAashiyyi waal-ibkariقال رب اجعل لي اية قال ايتك الا تكلم الناس ثلاثة ايام الا رمزا واذكر ربك كثيرا وسبح بالعشي والابكار
[YA]: He said: "O my Lord! Give me a Sign!" "Thy Sign," was the answer, "Shall be that thou shalt speak to no man for three days but with signals. Then celebrate the praises of thy Lord again and again, and glorify Him in the evening and in the morning."

[RK]:He said, "My Lord, give me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days, except through signals. Commemorate your Lord frequently; and meditate night and day."

Fakharaja AAala qawmihi mina almihrabifaawha ilayhim an sabbihoo bukratan waAAashiyyanفخرج علي قومه من المحراب فاوحي اليهم ان سبحوا بكرة وعشيا
[YA]: So Zakariya came out to his people from him chamber: He told them by signs to celebrate Allah's praises in the morning and in the evening.

[RK]:He came out to his family, from the sanctuary, and signaled to them: "Meditate (on God) day and night."

La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwanilla salaman walahum rizquhum feeha bukratanwaAAashiyyanلايسمعون فيها لغوا الا سلاما ولهم رزقهم فيها بكرة وعشيا
[YA]: They will not there hear any vain discourse, but only salutations of Peace: And they will have therein their sustenance, morning and evening.

[RK]:They will not hear any nonsense therein; only peace. They receive their provisions therein, day and night.

Waqaloo asateeru al-awwaleenaiktatabaha fahiya tumla AAalayhi bukratan waaseelanوقالوا اساطير الاولين اكتتبها فهي تملي عليه بكرة واصيلا
[YA]: And they say: "Tales of the ancients, which he has caused to be written: and they are dictated before him morning and evening."

[RK]:They also said, "Tales from the past that he wrote down; they were dictated to him day and night."

Wasabbihoohu bukratan waaseelanوسبحوه بكرة واصيلا
[YA]: And glorify Him morning and evening.

[RK]:You shall glorify Him day and night.

Faisbir inna waAAda Allahihaqqun waistaghfir lithanbika wasabbihbihamdi rabbika bialAAashiyyi waal-ibkariفاصبر ان وعد الله حق واستغفر لذنبك وسبح بحمد ربك بالعشي والابكار
[YA]: Patiently, then, persevere: for the Promise of Allah is true: and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and celebrate the Praises of thy Lord in the evening and in the morning.

[RK]:Therefore, be patient, for GOD's promise is true, and ask forgiveness for your sin, and glorify and praise your Lord night and day.

[YA]: In order that ye (O men) may believe in Allah and His Messenger, that ye may assist and honour Him, and celebrate His praise morning and evening.

[RK]:That you people may believe in GOD and His messenger, and reverence Him, and observe Him, and glorify Him, day and night.

[YA]: Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them:

[RK]:Early the next morning, a devastating retribution struck them.

[YA]: And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), -

[RK]:Never previously touched.

AAasa rabbuhu in tallaqakunnaan yubdilahu azwajan khayran minkunna muslimatinmu/minatin qanitatin ta-ibatinAAabidatin sa-ihatin thayyibatinwaabkaranعسي ربه ان طلقكن ان يبدله ازواجا خيرا منكن مسلمات مؤمنات قانتات تائبات عابدات سائحات ثيبات وابكارا
[YA]: It may be, if he divorced you (all), that Allah will give him in exchange consorts better than you,- who submit (their wills), who believe, who are devout, who turn to Allah in repentance, who worship (in humility), who travel (for Faith) and fast,- previously married or virgins.

[RK]:If he divorces you, his Lord will substitute other wives in your place who are better than you; submitters (Muslims), believers (Mu'mins), obedient, repentant, worshipers, pious, either previously married, or virgins.

[YA]: And celebrate the name or thy Lord morning and evening,

[RK]:And commemorate the name of your Lord day and night.
