[YA]: It is not (possible) that a man, to whom is given the Book, and Wisdom, and the prophetic office, should say to people: "Be ye my worshippers rather than Allah's": on the contrary (He would say) "Be ye worshippers of Him Who is truly the Cherisher of all: For ye have taught the Book and ye have studied it earnestly." [RK]:Never would a human being whom GOD blessed with the scripture and prophethood say to the people, "Idolize me beside GOD." Instead, (he would say), "Devote yourselves absolutely to your Lord alone," according to the scripture you preach and the teachings you learn.

[YA]: Thus do we explain the signs by various (symbols): that they may say, "Thou hast taught (us) diligently," and that We may make the matter clear to those who know. [RK]:We thus explain the revelations, to prove that you have received knowledge, and to clarify them for people who know.

[YA]: Lest ye should say: "The Book was sent down to two Peoples before us, and for our part, we remained unacquainted with all that they learned by assiduous study:" [RK]:Now you can no longer say, "The scripture was sent down to two groups before us, and we were unaware of their teachings."

[YA]: After them succeeded an (evil) generation: They inherited the Book, but they chose (for themselves) the vanities of this world, saying (for excuse): "(Everything) will be forgiven us." (Even so), if similar vanities came their way, they would (again) seize them. Was not the covenant of the Book taken from them, that they would not ascribe to Allah anything but the truth? and they study what is in the Book. But best for the righteous is the home in the Hereafter. Will ye not understand? [RK]:Subsequent to them, He substituted new generations who inherited the scripture. But they opted for the worldly life instead, saying, "We will be forgiven." But then they continued to opt for the materials of this world. Did they not make a covenant to uphold the scripture, and not to say about GOD except the truth? Did they not study the scripture? Certainly, the abode of the Hereafter is far better for those who maintain righteousness. Do you not understand?

[YA]: Also mention in the Book the case of Idris: He was a man of truth (and sincerity), (and) a prophet: [RK]:And mention in the scripture Idris. He was a saint, a prophet.

[YA]: And (remember) Isma'il, Idris, and Zul-kifl, all (men) of constancy and patience; [RK]:Also, Ismail, Idris, Zal-Kifl; all were steadfast, patient.

[YA]: But We had not given them Books which they could study, nor sent messengers to them before thee as Warners. [RK]:We did not give them any other books to study, nor did we send to them before you another warner.
