Inna fee khalqi alssamawatiwaal-ardi waikhtilafi allayli waalnnahariwaalfulki allatee tajree fee albahri bimayanfaAAu alnnasa wama anzala Allahumina alssama-i min ma-in faahyabihi al-arda baAAda mawtiha wabaththa feehamin kulli dabbatin watasreefi alrriyahiwaalssahabi almusakhkhari bayna alssama-iwaal-ardi laayatin liqawminyaAAqiloona

ان في خلق السماوات والارض واختلاف الليل والنهار والفلك التي تجري في البحر بما ينفع الناس وماانزل الله من السماء من ماء فاحيا به الارض بعد موتها وبث فيها من كل دابة وتصريف الرياح والسحاب المسخر بين السماء والارض لايات لقوم يعقلون

[YA]: Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.

[RK]:In the creation of the heavens and the earth, the alternation of night and day, the ships that roam the ocean for the benefit of the people, the water that GOD sends down from the sky to revive dead land and to spread in it all kinds of creatures, the manipulation of the winds, and the clouds that are placed between the sky and the earth, there are sufficient proofs for people who understand.

Wama kana qawlahum illaan qaloo rabbana ighfir lana thunoobanawa-israfana fee amrina wathabbit aqdamanawaonsurna AAala alqawmi alkafireena

وماكان قولهم الا ان قالوا ربنا اغفر لنا ذنوبنا واسرافنا في امرنا وثبت اقدامنا وانصرنا علي القوم الكافرين

[YA]: All that they said was: "Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that transgressed our duty: Establish our feet firmly, and help us against those that resist Faith."

[RK]:Their only utterance was, "Our Lord, forgive us our sins, and our transgressions, strengthen our foothold, and grant us victory over the disbelievers."

Walaqad sadaqakumu AllahuwaAAdahu ith tahussoonahum bi-ithnihi hattaitha fashiltum watanazaAAtum fee al-amri waAAasaytummin baAAdi ma arakum ma tuhibboonaminkum man yureedu alddunya waminkum man yureedual-akhirata thumma sarafakum AAanhum liyabtaliyakumwalaqad AAafa AAankum waAllahu thoofadlin AAala almu/mineena

ولقد صدقكم الله وعده اذ تحسونهم باذنه حتي اذا فشلتم وتنازعتم في الامر وعصيتم من بعد ما اراكم ماتحبون منكم من يريد الدنيا ومنكم من يريد الاخرة ثم صرفكم عنهم ليبتليكم ولقد عفا عنكم والله ذو فضل علي المؤمنين

[YA]: Allah did indeed fulfil His promise to you when ye with His permission Were about to annihilate your enemy,-until ye flinched and fell to disputing about the order, and disobeyed it after He brought you in sight (of the booty) which ye covet. Among you are some that hanker after this world and some that desire the Hereafter. Then did He divert you from your foes in order to test you but He forgave you: For Allah is full of grace to those who believe.

[RK]:GOD has fulfilled His promise to you, and you defeated them by His leave. But then you wavered, disputed among yourselves, and disobeyed after He had shown you (the victory) you had longed for. But then, some of you became distracted by the spoils of this world, while others were rightly concerned with the Hereafter. He then diverted you from them to test you. He has pardoned you. GOD showers the believers with His grace.

Waibtaloo alyatama hattaitha balaghoo alnnikaha fa-in anastumminhum rushdan faidfaAAoo ilayhim amwalahum walata/kulooha israfan wabidaran an yakbaroowaman kana ghaniyyan falyastaAAfif waman kanafaqeeran falya/kul bialmaAAroofi fa-itha dafaAAtumilayhim amwalahum faashhidoo AAalayhim wakafa biAllahihaseeban

وابتلوا اليتامي حتي اذا بلغوا النكاح فان انستم منهم رشدا فادفعوا اليهم اموالهم ولاتاكلوها اسرافا وبدارا ان يكبروا ومن كان غنيا فليستعفف ومن كان فقيرا فلياكل بالمعروف فاذا دفعتم اليهم اموالهم فاشهدوا عليهم وكفي بالله حسيبا

[YA]: Make trial of orphans until they reach the age of marriage; if then ye find sound judgment in them, release their property to them; but consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their growing up. If the guardian is well-off, Let him claim no remuneration, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When ye release their property to them, take witnesses in their presence: But all-sufficient is Allah in taking account.

[RK]:You shall test the orphans when they reach puberty. As soon as you find them mature enough, give them their property. Do not consume it extravagantly in a hurry, before they grow up. The rich guardian shall not charge any wage, but the poor guardian may charge equitably. When you give them their properties, you shall have witnesses. GOD suffices as Reckoner.

Min ajli thalika katabna AAalabanee isra-eela annahu man qatala nafsan bighayri nafsinaw fasadin fee al-ardi fakaannama qatala alnnasajameeAAan waman ahyaha fakaannama ahyaalnnasa jameeAAan walaqad jaat-hum rusulunabialbayyinati thumma inna katheeran minhum baAAda thalikafee al-ardi lamusrifoona

من اجل ذلك كتبنا علي بني اسرائيل انه من قتل نفسا بغير نفس او فسادفي الارض فكانما قتل الناس جميعا ومن احياها فكانما احيا الناس جميعا ولقد جاءتهم رسلنا بالبينات ثم ان كثيرا منهم بعد ذلك في الارض لمسرفون

[YA]: On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

[RK]:Because of this, we decreed for the Children of Israel that anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people. And anyone who spares a life, it shall be as if he spared the lives of all the people. Our messengers went to them with clear proofs and revelations, but most of them, after all this, are still transgressing.

Man yusraf AAanhu yawma-ithinfaqad rahimahu wathalika alfawzu almubeenu

من يصرف عنه يومئذ فقد رحمه وذلك الفوز المبين

[YA]: "On that day, if the penalty is averted from any, it is due to Allah's mercy; And that would be (Salvation), the obvious fulfilment of all desire.

[RK]:"Whoever is spared (the retribution), on that day, has attained His mercy. And this is the greatest triumph."

Qul araaytum in akhatha AllahusamAAakum waabsarakum wakhatama AAala quloobikumman ilahun ghayru Allahi ya/teekum bihi onthurkayfa nusarrifu al-ayati thumma hum yasdifoona

قل ارايتم ان اخذ الله سمعكم وابصاركم وختم علي قلوبكم من اله غير الله ياتيكم به انظر كيف نصرف الايات ثم هم يصدفون

[YA]: Say: "Think ye, if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed up your hearts, who - a god other than Allah - could restore them to you?" See how We explain the signs by various (symbols); yet they turn aside.

[RK]:Say, "What if GOD took away your hearing and your eyesight, and sealed your minds; which god, other than GOD, can restore these for you?" Note how we explain the revelations, and note how they still deviate!

Qul huwa alqadiru AAala anyabAAatha AAalaykum AAathaban min fawqikum aw min tahtiarjulikum aw yalbisakum shiyaAAan wayutheeqa baAAdakumba/sa baAAdin onthur kayfa nusarrifual-ayati laAAallahum yafqahoona

قل هو القادر علي ان يبعث عليكم عذابا من فوقكم او من تحت ارجلكم او يلبسكم شيعا ويذيق بعضكم باس بعض انظر كيف نصرف الايات لعلهم يفقهون

[YA]: Say: "He hath power to send calamities on you, from above and below, or to cover you with confusion in party strife, giving you a taste of mutual vengeance - each from the other." See how We explain the signs by various (symbols); that they may understand.

[RK]:Say, "He is certainly able to pour upon you retribution from above you, or from beneath your feet. Or He can divide you into factions and have you taste each others' tyranny. Note how we explain the revelations, that they may understand."

Wakathalika nusarrifu al-ayatiwaliyaqooloo darasta walinubayyinahu liqawmin yaAAlamoona

وكذلك نصرف الايات وليقولوا درست ولنبينه لقوم يعلمون

[YA]: Thus do we explain the signs by various (symbols): that they may say, "Thou hast taught (us) diligently," and that We may make the matter clear to those who know.

[RK]:We thus explain the revelations, to prove that you have received knowledge, and to clarify them for people who know.

Wahuwa allathee anshaa jannatinmaAArooshatin waghayra maAArooshatin waalnnakhlawaalzzarAAa mukhtalifan okuluhu waalzzaytoona waalrrummanamutashabihan waghayra mutashabihin kuloo minthamarihi itha athmara waatoo haqqahu yawma hasadihiwala tusrifoo innahu la yuhibbu almusrifeena

وهو الذي انشا جنات معروشات وغير معروشات والنخل والزرع مختلفا اكله والزيتون والرمان متشابها وغير متشابه كلوا من ثمره اذا اثمر واتوا حقه يوم حصاده ولاتسرفوا انه لايحب المسرفين

[YA]: It is He Who produceth gardens, with trellises and without, and dates, and tilth with produce of all kinds, and olives and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in variety): eat of their fruit in their season, but render the dues that are proper on the day that the harvest is gathered. But waste not by excess: for Allah loveth not the wasters.

[RK]:He is the One who established gardens, trellised and untrellised, and palm trees, and crops with different tastes, and olives, and pomegranate - fruits that are similar, yet dissimilar. Eat from their fruits, and give the due alms on the day of harvest, and do not waste anything. He does not love the wasters.

Ya banee adama khuthoozeenatakum AAinda kulli masjidin wakuloo waishraboo walatusrifoo innahu la yuhibbu almusrifeena

يابني ادم خذوا زينتكم عند كل مسجد وكلوا واشربوا ولاتسرفوا انه لايحب المسرفين

[YA]: O Children of Adam! wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: But waste not by excess, for Allah loveth not the wasters.

[RK]:O children of Adam, you shall be clean and dress nicely when you go to the masjid. And eat and drink moderately; Surely, He does not love the gluttons.

يابني ادم خذوا زينتكم عند كل مسجد وكلوا واشربوا ولاتسرفوا انه لايحب المسرفين

Wa-itha surifat absaruhumtilqaa as-habi alnnari qaloorabbana la tajAAalna maAAa alqawmi alththalimeena

واذا صرفت ابصارهم تلقاء اصحاب النار قالوا ربنا لاتجعلنا مع القوم الظالمين

[YA]: When their eyes shall be turned towards the Companions of the Fire, they will say: "Our Lord! send us not to the company of the wrong-doers."

[RK]:When they turn their eyes towards the dwellers of Hell, they will say, "Our Lord, do not put us with these wicked people."

Waalbaladu alttayyibuyakhruju nabatuhu bi-ithni rabbihi waallatheekhabutha la yakhruju illa nakidan kathalikanusarrifu al-ayati liqawmin yashkuroona

والبلد الطيب يخرج نباته باذن ربه والذي خبث لايخرج الا نكدا كذلك نصرف الايات لقوم يشكرون

[YA]: From the land that is clean and good, by the will of its Cherisher, springs up produce, (rich) after its kind: but from the land that is bad, springs up nothing but that which is niggardly: thus do we explain the signs by various (symbols) to those who are grateful.

[RK]:The good land readily produces its plants by the leave of its Lord, while the bad land barely produces anything useful. We thus explain the revelations for people who are appreciative.

Innakum lata/toona alrrijalashahwatan min dooni alnnisa-i bal antum qawmunmusrifoona

انكم لتاتون الرجال شهوة من دون النساء بل انتم قوم مسرفون

[YA]: "For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women : ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds."

[RK]:"You practice sex with the men, instead of the women. Indeed, you are a transgressing people."

Saasrifu AAan ayatiyaallatheena yatakabbaroona fee al-ardi bighayri alhaqqiwa-in yaraw kulla ayatin la yu/minoo bihawa-in yaraw sabeela alrrushdi la yattakhithoohusabeelan wa-in yaraw sabeela alghayyi yattakhithoohusabeelan thalika bi-annahum kaththaboo bi-ayatinawakanoo AAanha ghafileena

ساصرف عن اياتي الذين يتكبرون في الارض بغير الحق وان يروا كل اية لايؤمنوا بها وان يروا سبيل الرشد لايتخذوه سبيلا وان يروا سببيل الغي يتخذوه سبيلا ذلك بانهم كذبوا باياتنا وكانوا عنها غافلين

[YA]: Those who behave arrogantly on the earth in defiance of right - them will I turn away from My signs: Even if they see all the signs, they will not believe in them; and if they see the way of right conduct, they will not adopt it as the way; but if they see the way of error, that is the way they will adopt. For they have rejected our signs, and failed to take warning from them.

[RK]:I will divert from My revelations those who are arrogant on earth, without justification. Consequently, when they see every kind of proof they will not believe. And when they see the path of guidance they will not adopt it as their path, but when they see the path of straying they will adopt it as their path. This is the consequence of their rejecting our proofs, and being totally heedless thereof.

Wa-itha ma onzilat sooratunnathara baAAduhum ila baAAdinhal yarakum min ahadin thumma insarafoo sarafaAllahu quloobahum bi-annahum qawmun la yafqahoona

واذا ماانزلت سورة نظر بعضهم الي بعض هل يراكم من احد ثم انصرفوا صرف الله قلوبهم بانهم قوم لايفقهون

[YA]: Whenever there cometh down a Sura, they look at each other, (saying), "Doth anyone see you?" Then they turn aside: Allah hath turned their hearts (from the light); for they are a people that understand not.

[RK]:Whenever a sura was revealed, some of them would look at each other as if to say: "Does anyone see you?" Then they left. Thus, GOD has diverted their hearts, for they are people who do not comprehend.

Wa-itha ma onzilat sooratunnathara baAAduhum ila baAAdinhal yarakum min ahadin thumma insarafoo sarafaAllahu quloobahum bi-annahum qawmun la yafqahoona

واذا ماانزلت سورة نظر بعضهم الي بعض هل يراكم من احد ثم انصرفوا صرف الله قلوبهم بانهم قوم لايفقهون

Wa-itha massa al-insana alddurrudaAAana lijanbihi aw qaAAidan aw qa-imanfalamma kashafna AAanhu durrahu marra kaanlam yadAAuna ila durrin massahu kathalikazuyyina lilmusrifeena ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

واذا مس الانسان الضر دعانا لجنبه او قاعدا او قائما فلما كشفنا عنه ضره مر كان لم يدعنا الي ضر مسه كذلك زين للمسرفين ما كانوا يعملون

[YA]: When trouble toucheth a man, He crieth unto Us (in all postures)- lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he passeth on his way as if he had never cried to Us for a trouble that touched him! thus do the deeds of transgressors seem fair in their eyes!

[RK]:When adversity touches the human being, he implores us while lying down, or sitting, or standing up. But as soon as we relieve his adversity, he goes on as if he never implored us to relieve any hardship! The works of the transgressors are thus adorned in their eyes.

Fathalikumu Allahu rabbukumualhaqqu famatha baAAda alhaqqi illa alddalalufaanna tusrafoona

فذلكم الله ربكم الحق فماذا بعد الحق الا الضلال فاني تصرفون

[YA]: Such is Allah, your real Cherisher and Sustainer: apart from truth, what (remains) but error? How then are ye turned away?

[RK]:Such is GOD, your rightful Lord. What is there after the truth, except falsehood? How could you disregard all this?

Fama amana limoosa illathurriyyatun min qawmihi AAala khawfin minfirAAawna wamala-ihim an yaftinahum wa-inna firAAawna laAAalinfee al-ardi wa-innahu lamina almusrifeena

فما امن لموسي الا ذرية من قومه علي خوف من فرعون وملئهم ان يفتنهم وان فرعون لعال في الارض وانه لمن المسرفين

[YA]: But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharaoh was mighty on the earth and one who transgressed all bounds.

[RK]:None believed with Moses except a few of his people, while fearing the tyranny of Pharaoh and his elders. Surely, Pharaoh was much too arrogant on earth, and a real tyrant.

Wala-in akhkharna AAanhumu alAAathabaila ommatin maAAdoodatin layaqoolunna ma yahbisuhuala yawma ya/teehim laysa masroofan AAanhum wahaqabihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oona

ولئن اخرنا عنهم العذاب الي امة معدودة ليقولن مايحبسه الا يوم ياتيهم ليس مصروفا عنهم وحاق بهم ما كانوا يستهزؤون

[YA]: If We delay the penalty for them for a definite term, they are sure to say, "What keeps it back?" Ah! On the day it (actually) reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

[RK]:And if we delay the retribution they have incurred - for we reserve it for a specific community - they say, "What is keeping Him?" In fact, once it comes to them, nothing can stop it, and their mocking will come back to haunt them.

Walaqad hammat bihi wahamma biha lawlaan raa burhana rabbihi kathalika linasrifaAAanhu alssoo-a waalfahshaa innahumin AAibadina almukhlaseena

ولقد همت به وهم بها لولا ان راي برهان ربه كذلك لنصرف عنه السوء والفحشاء انه من عبادنا المخلصين

[YA]: And (with passion) did she desire him, and he would have desired her, but that he saw the evidence of his Lord: thus (did We order) that We might turn away from him (all) evil and shameful deeds: for he was one of Our servants, sincere and purified.

[RK]:She almost succumbed to him, and he almost succumbed to her, if it were not that he saw a proof from his Lord. We thus diverted evil and sin away from him, for he was one of our devoted servants.

Qala rabbi alssijnu ahabbuilayya mimma yadAAoonanee ilayhi wa-illa tasrifAAannee kaydahunna asbu ilayhinna waakun mina aljahileena

قال رب السجن احب الي مما يدعونني اليه والا تصرف عني كيدهن اصب اليهن واكن من الجاهلين

[YA]: He said: "O my Lord! the prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me: Unless Thou turn away their snare from me, I should (in my youthful folly) feel inclined towards them and join the ranks of the ignorant."

[RK]:He said, "My Lord, the prison is better than giving in to them. Unless You divert their scheming from me, I may desire them and behave like the ignorant ones."

Faistajaba lahu rabbuhu fasarafaAAanhu kaydahunna innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

فاستجاب له ربه فصرف عنه كيدهن انه هو السميع العليم

[YA]: So his Lord hearkened to him (in his prayer), and turned away from him their snare: Verily He heareth and knoweth (all things).

[RK]:His Lord answered his prayer and diverted their scheming from him. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.

Wala taqtuloo alnnafsa allateeharrama Allahu illa bialhaqqiwaman qutila mathlooman faqad jaAAalnaliwaliyyihi sultanan fala yusrif fee alqatli innahukana mansooran

ولاتقتلوا النفس التي حرم الله الا بالحق ومن قتل مظلوما فقد جعلنا لوليه سلطانا فلايسرف في القتل انه كان منصورا

[YA]: Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law).

[RK]:You shall not kill any person - for GOD has made life sacred - except in the course of justice. If one is killed unjustly, then we give his heir authority to enforce justice. Thus, he shall not exceed the limits in avenging the murder; he will be helped.

Walaqad sarrafna fee hathaalqur-ani liyaththakkaroo wama yazeeduhumilla nufooran

ولقد صرفنا في هذا القران ليذكروا ومايزيدهم الا نفورا

[YA]: We have explained (things) in various (ways) in this Qur'an, in order that they may receive admonition, but it only increases their flight (from the Truth)!

[RK]:We have cited in this Quran (all kinds of examples), that they may take heed. But it only augments their aversion.

Walaqad sarrafna lilnnasifee hatha alqur-ani min kulli mathalin faabaaktharu alnnasi illa kufooran

ولقد صرفنا للناس في هذا القران من كل مثل فابي اكثر الناس الا كفورا

[YA]: And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude!

[RK]:We have cited for the people in this Quran all kinds of examples, but most people insist upon disbelieving.

Waraa almujrimoona alnnarafathannoo annahum muwaqiAAooha walamyajidoo AAanha masrifan

وراي المجرمون النار فظنوا انهم مواقعوها ولم يجدوا عنها مصرفا

[YA]: And the Sinful shall see the fire and apprehend that they have to fall therein: no means will they find to turn away therefrom.

[RK]:The guilty will see Hell, and will realize that they will fall into it. They will have no escape therefrom.

Walaqad sarrafna fee hathaalqur-ani lilnnasi min kulli mathalin wakanaal-insanu akthara shay-in jadalan

ولقد صرفنا في هذا القران للناس من كل مثل وكان الانسان اكثر شئ جدلا

[YA]: We have explained in detail in this Qur'an, for the benefit of mankind, every kind of similitude: but man is, in most things, contentious.

[RK]:We have cited in this Quran every kind of example, but the human being is the most argumentative creature.

Wakathalika anzalnahu qur-ananAAarabiyyan wasarrafna feehi mina alwaAAeedilaAAallahum yattaqoona aw yuhdithu lahum thikran

وكذلك انزلناه قرانا عربيا وصرفنا فيه من الوعيد لعلهم يتقون او يحدث لهم ذكرا

[YA]: Thus have We sent this down - an arabic Qur'an - and explained therein in detail some of the warnings, in order that they may fear Allah, or that it may cause their remembrance (of Him).

[RK]:We thus revealed it, an Arabic Quran, and we cited in it all kinds of prophecies, that they may be saved, or it may cause them to take heed.

Wakathalika najzee man asrafa walamyu/min bi-ayati rabbihi walaAAathabu al-akhiratiashaddu waabqa

وكذلك نجزي من اسرف ولم يؤمن بايات ربه ولعذاب الاخرة اشد وابقي

[YA]: And thus do We recompense him who transgresses beyond bounds and believes not in the Signs of his Lord: and the Penalty of the Hereafter is far more grievous and more enduring.

[RK]:We thus requite those who transgress and refuse to believe in the revelations of their Lord. The retribution in the Hereafter is far worse and everlasting.

Thumma sadaqnahumu alwaAAdafaanjaynahum waman nashao waahlaknaalmusrifeena

ثم صدقناهم الوعد فانجيناهم ومن نشاء واهلكنا المسرفين

[YA]: In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds.

الم تر ان الله يزجي سحابا ثم يؤلف بينه ثم يجعله ركاما فتري الودق يخرج من خلاله وينزل من السماء من جبال فيها من برد فيصيب به من يشاء ويصرفه عن من يشاء يكاد سنا برقه يذهب بالابصار

[YA]: Seest thou not that Allah makes the clouds move gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap? - then wilt thou see rain issue forth from their midst. And He sends down from the sky mountain masses (of clouds) wherein is hail: He strikes therewith whom He pleases and He turns it away from whom He pleases, the vivid flash of His lightning well-nigh blinds the sight.

[RK]:Do you not realize that GOD drives the clouds, then gathers them together, then piles them on each other, then you see the rain coming out of them? He sends down from the sky loads of snow to cover whomever He wills, while diverting it from whomever He wills. The brightness of the snow almost blinds the eyes.

Faqad kaththabookum bimataqooloona fama tastateeAAoona sarfan walanasran waman yathlim minkum nuthiqhuAAathaban kabeeran

فقد كذبوكم بما تقولون فما تستطيعون صرفا ولانصرا ومن يظلم منكم نذقه عذابا كبيرا

[YA]: (Allah will say): "Now have they proved you liars in what ye say: so ye cannot avert (your penalty) nor (get) help." And whoever among you does wrong, him shall We cause to taste of a grievous Penalty.

[RK]:They have disbelieved in the message you have given them, and, consequently, you can neither protect them from the retribution they have incurred, nor can you help them in any way. Anyone among you who commits evil, we will commit him to severe retribution.

Walaqad sarrafnahu baynahumliyaththakkaroo faaba aktharu alnnasiilla kufooran

ولقد صرفناه بينهم ليذكروا فابي اكثر الناس الا كفورا

[YA]: And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught) but (rank) ingratitude.

[RK]:We have distributed it among them in exact measure, that they may take heed. But most people insist upon disbelieving.

والذين يقولون ربنا اصرف عنا عذاب جهنم ان عذابها كان غراما

[YA]: Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,-

[RK]:And they say, "Our Lord, spare us the agony of Hell; its retribution is horrendous.

والذين اذا انفقوا لم يسرفوا ولم يقتروا وكان بين ذلك قواما

[YA]: Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);

[RK]:When they give, they are neither extravagant nor stingy; they give in moderation.

[YA]: "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,-

قالوا طائركم معكم ائن ذكرتم بل انتم قوم مسرفون

[YA]: They said: "Your evil omens are with yourselves: (deem ye this an evil omen). If ye are admonished? Nay, but ye are a people transgressing all bounds!"

[RK]:They said, "Your omen depends on your response, now that you have been reminded. Indeed, you are transgressing people."

Khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin thummajaAAala minha zawjaha waanzala lakum mina al-anAAamithamaniyata azwajin yakhluqukum fee butooniommahatikum khalqan min baAAdi khalqin fee thulumatinthalathin thalikumu Allahu rabbukum lahualmulku la ilaha illa huwa faanna tusrafoona

خلقكم من نفس واحدة ثم جعل منها زوجها وانزل لكم من الانعام ثمانية ازواج يخلقكم في بطون امهاتكم خلقا من بعد خلق في ظلمات ثلاث ذلكم الله ربكم له الملك لا اله الا هو فاني تصرفون

[YA]: He created you (all) from a single person: then created, of like nature, his mate; and he sent down for you eight head of cattle in pairs: He makes you, in the wombs of your mothers, in stages, one after another, in three veils of darkness. such is Allah, your Lord and Cherisher: to Him belongs (all) dominion. There is no god but He: then how are ye turned away (from your true Centre)?

[RK]:He created you from one person, then created from him his mate. He sent down to you eight kinds of livestock. He creates you in your mothers' bellies, creation after creation, in trimesters of darkness. Such is GOD your Lord. To Him belongs all sovereignty. There is no other god beside Him. How could you deviate?

Qul ya AAibadiya allatheenaasrafoo AAala anfusihim la taqnatoo min rahmatiAllahi inna Allaha yaghfiru alththunoobajameeAAan innahu huwa alghafooru alrraheemu

قل ياعبادي الذين اسرفوا علي انفسهم لاتقنطوا من رحمة الله ان الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا انه هو الغفور الرحيم

[YA]: Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[RK]:Proclaim: "O My servants who exceeded the limits, never despair of GOD's mercy. For GOD forgives all sins. He is the Forgiver, Most Merciful."

Waqala rajulun mu/minun min alifirAAawna yaktumu eemanahu ataqtuloona rajulan an yaqoolarabbiyya Allahu waqad jaakum bialbayyinatimin rabbikum wa-in yaku kathiban faAAalayhi kathibuhuwa-in yaku sadiqan yusibkum baAAdu allatheeyaAAidukum inna Allaha la yahdee man huwa musrifunkaththabun

وقال رجل مؤمن من ال فرعون يكتم ايمانه اتقتلون رجلا ان يقول ربي الله وقد جاءكم بالبينات من ربكم وان يك كاذبا فعليه كذبه وان يك صادقا يصبكم بعض الذي يعدكم ان الله لايهدي من هو مسرف كذاب

[YA]: A believer, a man from among the people of Pharaoh, who had concealed his faith, said: "Will ye slay a man because he says, 'My Lord is Allah'?- when he has indeed come to you with Clear (Signs) from your Lord? and if he be a liar, on him is (the sin of) his lie: but, if he is telling the Truth, then will fall on you something of the (calamity) of which he warns you: Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies!

[RK]:A believing man among Pharaoh's people, who was concealing his belief, said, "How can you kill a man just for saying, `My Lord is GOD,' and he has shown you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is a liar, that is his problem, and if he is truthful, you benefit from his promises. Surely, GOD does not guide any transgressor, liar.

Walaqad jaakum yoosufu min qablu bialbayyinatifama ziltum fee shakkin mimma jaakum bihi hattaitha halaka qultum lan yabAAatha Allahu minbaAAdihi rasoolan kathalika yudillu Allahuman huwa musrifun murtabun

ولقد جاءكم يوسف من قبل بالبينات فمازلتم في شك مما جاءكم به حتي اذا هلك قلتم لن يبعث الله من بعده رسولا كذلك يضل الله من هو مسرف مرتاب

[YA]: "And to you there came Joseph in times gone by, with Clear Signs, but ye ceased not to doubt of the (Mission) for which he had come: At length, when he died, ye said: 'No messenger will Allah send after him.' thus doth Allah leave to stray such as transgress and live in doubt,-

[RK]:Joseph had come to you before that with clear revelations, but you continued to doubt his message. Then, when he died you said, "GOD will not send any other messenger after him. (He was the last messenger)!" GOD thus sends astray those who are transgressors, doubtful.

La jarama annama tadAAoonaneeilayhi laysa lahu daAAwatun fee alddunya walafee al-akhirati waanna maraddana ila Allahiwaanna almusrifeena hum as-habu alnnari

لاجرم انما تدعونني اليه ليس له دعوة في الدنيا ولافي الاخرة وان مردنا الي الله وان المسرفين هم اصحاب النار

[YA]: "Without doubt ye do call me to one who is not fit to be called to, whether in this world, or in the Hereafter; our return will be to Allah; and the Transgressors will be Companions of the Fire!

[RK]:"There is no doubt that what you invite me to do has no basis in this world, nor in the Hereafter, that our ultimate return is to GOD, and that the transgressors have incurred the hellfire.

الم تر الي الذين يجادلون في ايات الله اني يصرفون

[YA]: Seest thou not those that dispute concerning the Signs of Allah? How are they turned away (from Reality)?-

[RK]:Have you noted those who argue against GOD's proofs, and how they have deviated?

افنضرب عنكم الذكر صفحا ان كنتم قوما مسرفين

[YA]: Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds?

[RK]:Should we just ignore the fact that you have transgressed the limits?

من فرعون انه كان عاليا من المسرفين

[YA]: Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.

[RK]:From Pharaoh; he was a tyrant.

Waikhtilafi allayli waalnnahariwama anzala Allahu mina alssama-i minrizqin faahya bihi al-arda baAAda mawtihawatasreefi alrriyahi ayatunliqawmin yaAAqiloona

واختلاف الليل والنهار وماانزل الله من السماء من رزق فاحيا به الارض بعد موتها وتصريف الرياح ايات لقوم يعقلون

[YA]: And in the alternation of Night and Day, and the fact that Allah sends down Sustenance from the sky, and revives therewith the earth after its death, and in the change of the winds,- are Signs for those that are wise.

[RK]:Also, the alternation of the night and the day, and the provisions that GOD sends down from the sky to revive dead lands, and the manipulation of the winds; all these are proofs for people who understand.
