[YA]: "If Allah touch thee with affliction, none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness, He hath power over all things. [RK]:If GOD touches you with adversity, none can relieve it except He. And if He touches you with a blessing, He is Omnipotent.
2 | [6:41] Line:830 |
| ||
[YA]: "Nay,- On Him would ye call, and if it be His will, He would remove (the distress) which occasioned your call upon Him, and ye would forget (the false gods) which ye join with Him!" [RK]:The fact is: only Him you implore, and He answers your prayer, if He so wills, and you forget your idols.
3 | [7:134] Line:1088 |
| ||
[YA]: Every time the penalty fell on them, they said: "O Moses! on your behalf call on thy Lord in virtue of his promise to thee: If thou wilt remove the penalty from us, we shall truly believe in thee, and we shall send away the Children of Israel with thee." [RK]:Whenever a plague afflicted them, they said, "O Moses, implore your Lord - you are close to Him. If you relieve this plague, we will believe with you, and will send the Children of Israel with you."
4 | [7:135] Line:1089 |
| ||
[YA]: But every time We removed the penalty from them according to a fixed term which they had to fulfil,- Behold! they broke their word! [RK]:Yet, when we relieved the plague for any length of time, they violated their pledge.
5 | [10:12] Line:1376 |
| ||
[YA]: When trouble toucheth a man, He crieth unto Us (in all postures)- lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he passeth on his way as if he had never cried to Us for a trouble that touched him! thus do the deeds of transgressors seem fair in their eyes! [RK]:When adversity touches the human being, he implores us while lying down, or sitting, or standing up. But as soon as we relieve his adversity, he goes on as if he never implored us to relieve any hardship! The works of the transgressors are thus adorned in their eyes.
6 | [10:98] Line:1462 |
| ||
[YA]: Why was there not a single township (among those We warned), which believed,- so its faith should have profited it,- except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the penalty of ignominy in the life of the present, and permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. [RK]:Any community that believes will surely be rewarded for believing. For example, the people of Jonah: when they believed, we relieved the humiliating retribution they had been suffering in this world, and we made them prosperous.
7 | [10:107] Line:1471 |
| ||
[YA]: If Allah do touch thee with hurt, there is none can remove it but He: if He do design some benefit for thee, there is none can keep back His favour: He causeth it to reach whomsoever of His servants He pleaseth. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [RK]:If GOD touches you with a hardship, none can relieve it except He. And when He blesses you, no force can prevent His grace. He bestows it upon whomever He chooses from among His servants. He is the Forgiver, Most Merciful.
8 | [16:54] Line:1955 |

[YA]: Yet, when He removes the distress from you, behold! some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord- [RK]:Yet, as soon as He relieves your affliction, some of you revert to idol worship.
9 | [17:56] Line:2085 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Call on those - besides Him - whom ye fancy: they have neither the power to remove your troubles from you nor to change them." [RK]:Say, "Implore whatever idols you have set up beside Him." They have no power to relieve your afflictions, nor can they prevent them.
10 | [21:84] Line:2567 |
| ||
[YA]: So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who serve Us. [RK]:We responded to him, relieved his adversity, and restored his family for him, even twice as much. That was a mercy from us, and a reminder for the worshipers.
11 | [23:75] Line:2748 |
| ||
[YA]: If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. [RK]:Even when we showered them with mercy, and relieved their problems, they plunged deeper into transgression, and continued to blunder.
12 | [27:44] Line:3203 |

[YA]: She was asked to enter the lofty Palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she (tucked up her skirts), uncovering her legs. He said: "This is but a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass." She said: "O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul: I do (now) submit (in Islam), with Solomon, to the Lord of the Worlds." [RK]:She was told, "Go inside the palace." When she saw its interior, she thought it was a pool of water, and she (pulled up her dress,) exposing her legs. He said, "This interior is now paved with crystal." She said, "My Lord, I have wronged my soul. I now submit with Solomon to GOD, Lord of the universe."
13 | [27:62] Line:3221 |
| ||
[YA]: Or, Who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and Who relieves its suffering, and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Little it is that ye heed! [RK]:Who is the One who rescues those who become desperate and call upon Him, relieves adversity, and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is it another god with GOD? Rarely do you take heed.
14 | [39:38] Line:4096 |
| ||
[YA]: If indeed thou ask them who it is that created the heavens and the earth, they would be sure to say, "Allah". Say: "See ye then? the things that ye invoke besides Allah,- can they, if Allah wills some Penalty for me, remove His Penalty?- Or if He wills some Grace for me, can they keep back his Grace?" Say: "Sufficient is Allah for me! In Him trust those who put their trust." [RK]:If you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will say, "GOD." Say, "Why then do you set up idols beside GOD? If GOD willed any adversity for me, can they relieve such an adversity? And if He willed a blessing for me, can they prevent such a blessing?" Say, "GOD is sufficient for me." In Him the trusters shall trust.
15 | [43:50] Line:4375 |
| ||
[YA]: But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word. [RK]:But as soon as we relieved their affliction, they reverted.
16 | [44:12] Line:4426 |
| ||
[YA]: (They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!" [RK]:"Our Lord, relieve this retribution for us; we are believers."
17 | [44:15] Line:4429 |
| ||
[YA]: We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). [RK]:We will relieve the retribution for awhile; you will soon revert.
18 | [50:22] Line:4652 |
| ||
[YA]: (It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!" [RK]:You used to be oblivious to this. We now remove your veil; today, your vision is (as strong as) steel.
19 | [53:58] Line:4842 |
| ||
[YA]: No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. [RK]:None beside GOD can relieve it.
20 | [68:42] Line:5313 |
| ||
[YA]: The Day that the shin shall be laid bare, and they shall be summoned to bow in adoration, but they shall not be able,- [RK]:The day will come when they will be exposed, and they will be required to fall prostrate, but they will be unable to.
