Wa-in kuntum fee raybin mimma nazzalnaAAala AAabdina fa/too bisooratin min mithlihi waodAAooshuhadaakum min dooni Allahi in kuntum sadiqeena

وان كنتم في ريب مما نزلنا علي عبدنا فاتوا بسورة من مثله وادعوا شهداءكم من دون الله ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Sura like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (If there are any) besides Allah, if your (doubts) are true.

[RK]:If you have any doubt regarding what we revealed to our servant, then produce one sura like these, and call upon your own witnesses against GOD, if you are truthful.

WaAAallama adama al-asmaakullaha thumma AAaradahum AAala almala-ikatifaqala anbi-oonee bi-asma-i haola-iin kuntum sadiqeena

وعلم ادم الاسماء كلها ثم عرضهم علي الملائكة فقال انبئوني باسماء هؤلاء ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: "Tell me the names of these if ye are right."

[RK]:He taught Adam all the names then presented them to the angels, saying, "Give me the names of these, if you are right."

Waaminoo bima anzaltu musaddiqanlima maAAakum wala takoonoo awwala kafirinbihi wala tashtaroo bi-ayatee thamananqaleelan wa-iyyaya faittaqooni

وامنوا بما انزلت مصدقا لما معكم ولاتكونوا اول كافر به ولاتشتروا باياتي ثمنا قليلا واياي فاتقون

[YA]: And believe in what I reveal, confirming the revelation which is with you, and be not the first to reject Faith therein, nor sell My Signs for a small price; and fear Me, and Me alone.

[RK]:You shall believe in what I have revealed herein, confirming what you have; do not be the first to reject it. Do not trade away My revelations for a cheap price, and observe Me.

Walamma jaahum kitabunmin AAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahumwakanoo min qablu yastaftihoona AAala allatheenakafaroo falamma jaahum ma AAarafoo kafaroobihi falaAAnatu Allahi AAala alkafireena

ولما جاءهم كتاب من عند الله مصدق لما معهم وكانوا من قبل يستفتحون علي الذين كفروا فلما جاءهم ماعرفوا كفروا به فلعنة الله علي الكافرين

[YA]: And when there comes to them a Book from Allah, confirming what is with them,- although from of old they had prayed for victory against those without Faith,- when there comes to them that which they (should) have recognised, they refuse to believe in it but the curse of Allah is on those without Faith.

[RK]:When this scripture came to them from GOD, and even though it agrees with, and confirms what they have, and even though they used to prophesy its advent when they talked with the disbelievers, when their own prophecy came to pass, they disbelieved therein. GOD's condemnation thus afflicts the disbelievers.

Wa-itha qeela lahum aminoo bimaanzala Allahu qaloo nu/minu bima onzilaAAalayna wayakfuroona bima waraahu wahuwa alhaqqumusaddiqan lima maAAahum qul falima taqtuloonaanbiyaa Allahi min qablu in kuntum mu/mineena

واذا قيل لهم امنوا بما انزل الله قالوا نؤمن بما انزل علينا ويكفرون بما وراءه وهو الحق مصدقا لما معهم قل فلم تقتلون انبياء الله من قبل ان كنتم مؤمنين

[YA]: When it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah Hath sent down, "they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us:" yet they reject all besides, even if it be Truth confirming what is with them. Say: "Why then have ye slain the prophets of Allah in times gone by, if ye did indeed believe?"

[RK]:When they are told, "You shall believe in these revelations of GOD," they say, "We believe only in what was sent down to us." Thus, they disbelieve in subsequent revelations, even if it is the truth from their Lord, and even though it confirms what they have! Say, "Why then did you kill GOD's prophets, if you were believers?"

Qul in kanat lakumu alddarual-akhiratu AAinda Allahi khalisatanmin dooni alnnasi fatamannawoo almawta in kuntum sadiqeena

قل ان كانت لكم الدار الاخرة عند الله خالصة من دون الناس فتمنوا الموت ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: Say: "If the last Home, with Allah, be for you specially, and not for anyone else, then seek ye for death, if ye are sincere."

[RK]:Say, "If the abode of the Hereafter is reserved for you at GOD, to the exclusion of all other people, then you should long for death, if you are truthful."

Qul man kana AAaduwwan lijibreelafa-innahu nazzalahu AAala qalbika bi-ithni Allahimusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi wahudan wabushralilmu/mineena

قل من كان عدوا لجبريل فانه نزله علي قلبك باذن الله مصدقا لما بين يديه وهدي وبشري للمؤمنين

[YA]: Say: Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel-for he brings down the (revelation) to thy heart by Allah's will, a confirmation of what went before, and guidance and glad tidings for those who believe,-

[RK]:Say, "Anyone who opposes Gabriel should know that he has brought down this (Quran) into your heart, in accordance with GOD's will, confirming previous scriptures, and providing guidance and good news for the believers."

Walamma jaahum rasoolun minAAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahum nabathafareequn mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba kitabaAllahi waraa thuhoorihim kaannahum layaAAlamoona

ولما جاءهم رسول من عند الله مصدق لما معهم نبذ فريق من الذين اوتوا الكتاب كتاب الله وراء ظهورهم كانهم لايعلمون

[YA]: And when there came to them a messenger from Allah, confirming what was with them, a party of the people of the Book threw away the Book of Allah behind their backs, as if (it had been something) they did not know!

[RK]:Now that a messenger from GOD has come to them, and even though he proves and confirms their own scripture, some followers of the scripture (Jews, Christians, and Muslims) disregard GOD's scripture behind their backs, as if they never had any scripture.

Waqaloo lan yadkhula aljannata illaman kana hoodan aw nasara tilka amaniyyuhumqul hatoo burhanakum in kuntum sadiqeena

وقالوا لن يدخل الجنة الا من كان هودا او نصاري تلك امانيهم قل هاتوا برهانكم ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: And they say: "None shall enter Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian." Those are their (vain) desires. Say: "Produce your proof if ye are truthful."

[RK]:Some have said, "No one will enter Paradise except Jews or Christians!" Such is their wishful thinking. Say, "Show us your proof, if you are right."

Laysa albirra an tuwalloo wujoohakum qibalaalmashriqi waalmaghribi walakinna albirra man amanabiAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiri waalmala-ikatiwaalkitabi waalnnabiyyeena waataalmala AAala hubbihi thawee alqurbawaalyatama waalmasakeena waibnaalssabeeli waalssa-ileena wafee alrriqabiwaaqama alssalata waataalzzakata waalmoofoona biAAahdihim ithaAAahadoo waalssabireena fee alba/sa-iwaalddarra-i waheena alba/si ola-ikaallatheena sadaqoo waola-ika humualmuttaqoona

ليس البر ان تولوا وجوهكم قبل المشرق والمغرب ولكن البر من امن بالله واليوم الاخر والملائكة والكتاب والنبيين واتي المال علي حبه ذوي القربي واليتامي والمساكين وابن السبيل والسائلين وفي الرقاب واقام الصلاة واتي الزكاة والموفون بعهدهم اذا عاهدوا والصابرين في الباساء والضراء وحين الباس اولئك الذين صدقوا واولئك هم المتقون

[YA]: It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah-fearing.

[RK]:Righteousness is not turning your faces towards the east or the west. Righteous are those who believe in GOD, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture, and the prophets; and they give the money, cheerfully, to the relatives, the orphans, the needy, the traveling alien, the beggars, and to free the slaves; and they observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat); and they keep their word whenever they make a promise; and they steadfastly persevere in the face of persecution, hardship, and war. These are the truthful; these are the righteous.

Waatimmoo alhajja waalAAumratalillahi fa-in ohsirtum fama istaysara minaalhadyi wala tahliqoo ruoosakum hattayablugha alhadyu mahillahu faman kana minkum mareedanaw bihi athan min ra/sihi fafidyatun min siyaminaw sadaqatin aw nusukin fa-itha amintum famantamattaAAa bialAAumrati ila alhajji famaistaysara mina alhadyi faman lam yajid fasiyamuthalathati ayyamin fee alhajji wasabAAatin itharajaAAtum tilka AAasharatun kamilatun thalika limanlam yakun ahluhu hadiree almasjidi alharamiwaittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allahashadeedu alAAiqabi

واتموا الحج والعمرة لله فان احصرتم فما استيسر من الهدي ولاتحلقوا رؤوسكم حتي يبلغ الهدي محله فمن كان منكم مريضا او به اذي من راسه ففدية من صيام او صدقة او نسك فاذا امنتم فمن تمتع بالعمرة الي الحج فما استيسر من الهدي فمن لم يجد فصيام ثلاثة ايام في الحج وسبعة اذا رجعتم تلك عشرة كاملة ذلك لمن لم يكن اهله حاضري المسجد الحرام واتقوا الله واعلموا ان الله شديد العقاب

[YA]: And complete the Hajj or 'umra in the service of Allah. But if ye are prevented (From completing it), send an offering for sacrifice, such as ye may find, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (Necessitating shaving), (He should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice; and when ye are in peaceful conditions (again), if any one wishes to continue the 'umra on to the hajj, He must make an offering, such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, He should fast three days during the hajj and seven days on his return, Making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque. And fear Allah, and know that Allah Is strict in punishment.

[RK]:You shall observe the complete rites of Hajj and `Umrah for GOD. If you are prevented, you shall send an offering, and do not resume cutting your hair until your offering has reached its destination. If you are ill, or suffering a head injury (and you must cut your hair), you shall expiate by fasting, or giving to charity, or some other form of worship. During the normal Hajj, if you break the state of Ihraam (sanctity) between `Umrah and Hajj, you shall expiate by offering an animal sacrifice. If you cannot afford it, you shall fast three days during Hajj and seven when you return home - this completes ten - provided you do not live at the Sacred Masjid. You shall observe GOD, and know that GOD is strict in enforcing retribution.

Qawlun maAAroofun wamaghfiratun khayrun minsadaqatin yatbaAAuha athan waAllahughaniyyun haleemun

قول معروف ومغفرة خير من صدقة يتبعها اذي والله غني حليم

[YA]: Kind words and the covering of faults are better than charity followed by injury. Allah is free of all wants, and He is Most-Forbearing.

[RK]:Kind words and compassion are better than a charity that is followed by insult. GOD is Rich, Clement.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tubtiloo sadaqatikum bialmanniwaal-atha kaallathee yunfiqu malahuri-aa alnnasi wala yu/minu biAllahiwaalyawmi al-akhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwaninAAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilunfatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAalashay-in mimma kasaboo waAllahu layahdee alqawma alkafireena

ياايها الذين امنوا لاتبطلوا صدقاتكم بالمن والاذي كالذي ينفق ماله رئاء الناس ولايؤمن بالله واليوم الاخر فمثله كمثل صفوان عليه تراب فاصابه وابل فتركه صلدا لايقدرون علي شئ مما كسبوا والله لايهدي القوم الكافرين

[YA]: O ye who believe! cancel not your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury,- like those who spend their substance to be seen of men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day. They are in parable like a hard, barren rock, on which is a little soil: on it falls heavy rain, which leaves it (Just) a bare stone. They will be able to do nothing with aught they have earned. And Allah guideth not those who reject faith.

[RK]:O you who believe, do not nullify your charities by inflicting reproach and insult, like one who spends his money to show off, while disbelieving in GOD and the Last Day. His example is like a rock covered with a thin layer of soil; as soon as heavy rain falls, it washes off the soil, leaving it a useless rock. They gain nothing from their efforts. GOD does not guide disbelieving people.

In tubdoo alssadaqatifaniAAimma hiya wa-in tukhfooha watu/toohaalfuqaraa fahuwa khayrun lakum wayukaffiru AAankum minsayyi-atikum waAllahu bimataAAmaloona khabeerun

ان تبدوا الصدقات فنعما هي وان تخفوها وتؤتوها الفقراء فهو خيرلكم ويكفر عنكم من سيئاتكم والله بما تعملون خبير

[YA]: If ye disclose (acts of) charity, even so it is well, but if ye conceal them, and make them reach those (really) in need, that is best for you: It will remove from you some of your (stains of) evil. And Allah is well acquainted with what ye do.

[RK]:If you declare your charities, they are still good. But if you keep them anonymous, and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and remits more of your sins. GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.

Yamhaqu Allahu alrribawayurbee alssadaqati waAllahula yuhibbu kulla kaffarin atheemin

يمحق الله الربا ويربي الصدقات والله لايحب كل كفار اثيم

[YA]: Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: For He loveth not creatures ungrateful and wicked.

[RK]:GOD condemns usury, and blesses charities. GOD dislikes every disbeliever, guilty.

Wa-in kana thoo AAusratinfanathiratun ila maysaratin waan tasaddaqookhayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona

وان كان ذو عسرة فنظرة الي ميسرة وان تصدقوا خير لكم ان كنتم تعلمون

[YA]: If the debtor is in a difficulty, grant him time Till it is easy for him to repay. But if ye remit it by way of charity, that is best for you if ye only knew.

[RK]:If the debtor is unable to pay, wait for a better time. If you give up the loan as a charity, it would be better for you, if you only knew.

Nazzala AAalayka alkitaba bialhaqqimusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi waanzala alttawratawaal-injeela

نزل عليك الكتاب بالحق مصدقا لما بين يديه وانزل التوراة والانجيل

[YA]: It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).

[RK]:He sent down to you this scripture, truthfully, confirming all previous scriptures, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel

Alssabireena waalssadiqeenawaalqaniteena waalmunfiqeena waalmustaghfireenabial-ashari

الصابرين والصادقين والقانتين والمنفقين والمستغفرين بالاسحار

[YA]: Those who show patience, Firmness and self-control; who are true (in word and deed); who worship devoutly; who spend (in the way of Allah); and who pray for forgiveness in the early hours of the morning.

[RK]:They are steadfast, truthful, submitting, charitable, and meditators at dawn.

Fanadat-hu almala-ikatu wahuwaqa-imun yusallee fee almihrabi annaAllaha yubashshiruka biyahya musaddiqanbikalimatin mina Allahi wasayyidan wahasooranwanabiyyan mina alssaliheena

فنادته الملائكة وهو قائم يصلي في المحراب ان الله يبشرك بيحيي مصدقا بكلمة من الله وسيدا وحصورا ونبيا من الصالحين

[YA]: While he was standing in prayer in the chamber, the angels called unto him: "Allah doth give thee glad tidings of Yahya, witnessing the truth of a Word from Allah, and (be besides) noble, chaste, and a prophet,- of the (goodly) company of the righteous."

[RK]:The angels called him when he was praying in the sanctuary: "GOD gives you good news of John; a believer in the word of GOD, honorable, moral, and a righteous prophet."

Wamusaddiqan lima baynayadayya mina alttawrati wali-ohilla lakumbaAAda allathee hurrima AAalaykum waji/tukumbi-ayatin min rabbikum faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

ومصدقا لما بين يدي من التوراة ولاحل لكم بعض الذي حرم عليكم وجئتكم باية من ربكم فاتقوا الله واطيعون

[YA]: "'(I have come to you), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah, and obey me.

[RK]:"I confirm previous scripture - the Torah - and I revoke certain prohibitions imposed upon you. I come to you with sufficient proof from your Lord. Therefore, you shall observe GOD, and obey me.

Wa-ith akhatha Allahumeethaqa alnnabiyyeena lama ataytukummin kitabin wahikmatin thumma jaakumrasoolun musaddiqun lima maAAakum latu/minunna bihiwalatansurunnahu qala aaqrartum waakhathtumAAala thalikum isree qaloo aqrarnaqala faishhadoo waana maAAakum mina alshshahideena

واذ اخذ الله ميثاق النبيين لما اتيتكم من كتاب وحكمة ثم جاءكم رسول مصدق لما معكم لتؤمنن به ولتنصرنه قال ءاقررتم واخذتم علي ذلكم اصري قالوا اقررنا قال فاشهدوا وانا معكم من الشاهدين

[YA]: Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."

[RK]:GOD took a covenant from the prophets, saying, "I will give you the scripture and wisdom. Afterwards, a messenger will come to confirm all existing scriptures. You shall believe in him and support him." He said, "Do you agree with this, and pledge to fulfill this covenant?" They said, "We agree." He said, "You have thus borne witness, and I bear witness along with you."

Kullu alttaAAami kanahillan libanee isra-eela illa ma harramaisra-eelu AAala nafsihi min qabli an tunazzala alttawratuqul fa/too bialttawrati faotlooha inkuntum sadiqeena

كل الطعام كان حلا لبني اسرائيل الا ماحرم اسرائيل علي نفسه من قبل ان تنزل التوراة قل فاتوا بالتوراة فاتلوها ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: All food was lawful to the Children of Israel, except what Israel Made unlawful for itself, before the Law (of Moses) was revealed. Say: "Bring ye the Law and study it, if ye be men of truth."

[RK]:All food used to be lawful for the Children of Israel, until Israel imposed certain prohibitions on themselves before the Torah was sent down. Say, "Bring the Torah and read it, if you are truthful."

Qul sadaqa Allahu faittabiAAoomillata ibraheema haneefan wama kanamina almushrikeena

قل صدق الله فاتبعوا ملة ابراهيم حنيفا وماكان من المشركين

[YA]: Say: "Allah speaketh the Truth: follow the religion of Abraham, the sane in faith; he was not of the Pagans."

[RK]:Say, "GOD has proclaimed the truth: You shall follow Abraham's religion - monotheism. He never was an idolater."

Walaqad sadaqakumu AllahuwaAAdahu ith tahussoonahum bi-ithnihi hattaitha fashiltum watanazaAAtum fee al-amri waAAasaytummin baAAdi ma arakum ma tuhibboonaminkum man yureedu alddunya waminkum man yureedual-akhirata thumma sarafakum AAanhum liyabtaliyakumwalaqad AAafa AAankum waAllahu thoofadlin AAala almu/mineena

ولقد صدقكم الله وعده اذ تحسونهم باذنه حتي اذا فشلتم وتنازعتم في الامر وعصيتم من بعد ما اراكم ماتحبون منكم من يريد الدنيا ومنكم من يريد الاخرة ثم صرفكم عنهم ليبتليكم ولقد عفا عنكم والله ذو فضل علي المؤمنين

[YA]: Allah did indeed fulfil His promise to you when ye with His permission Were about to annihilate your enemy,-until ye flinched and fell to disputing about the order, and disobeyed it after He brought you in sight (of the booty) which ye covet. Among you are some that hanker after this world and some that desire the Hereafter. Then did He divert you from your foes in order to test you but He forgave you: For Allah is full of grace to those who believe.

[RK]:GOD has fulfilled His promise to you, and you defeated them by His leave. But then you wavered, disputed among yourselves, and disobeyed after He had shown you (the victory) you had longed for. But then, some of you became distracted by the spoils of this world, while others were rightly concerned with the Hereafter. He then diverted you from them to test you. He has pardoned you. GOD showers the believers with His grace.

Allatheena qaloo li-ikhwanihimwaqaAAadoo law ataAAoona ma qutiloo qul faidraooAAan anfusikumu almawta in kuntum sadiqeena

الذين قالوا لاخوانهم وقعدوا لو اطاعونا ماقتلوا قل فادرؤوا عن انفسكم الموت ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: (They are) the ones that say, (of their brethren slain), while they themselves sit (at ease): "If only they had listened to us they would not have been slain." Say: "Avert death from your own selves, if ye speak the truth."

[RK]:They said of their kinsmen, as they stayed behind, "Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed." Say, "Then prevent your own death, if you are truthful."

Allatheena qaloo inna AllahaAAahida ilayna alla nu/mina lirasoolin hattaya/tiyana biqurbanin ta/kuluhu alnnaruqul qad jaakum rusulun min qablee bialbayyinatiwabiallathee qultum falima qataltumoohum in kutum sadiqeena

الذين قالوا ان الله عهد الينا الا نؤمن لرسول حتي ياتينا بقربان تاكله النار قل قد جاءكم رسل من قبلي بالبينات وبالذي قلتم فلم قتلتموهم ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: They (also) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in an messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)." Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?"

[RK]:It is they who said, "GOD has made a covenant with us that we shall not believe in any messenger, unless he produces an offering that gets consumed by fire." Say, "Messengers before me have come to you with clear proofs, including what you just demanded. Why then did you kill them, if you are truthful?"

Waatoo alnnisaa saduqatihinnanihlatan fa-in tibna lakum AAan shay-in minhunafsan fakuloohu hanee-an maree-an

واتوا النساء صدقاتهن نحلة فان طبن لكم عن شئ منه نفسا فكلوه هنيئا مريئا

[YA]: And give the women (on marriage) their dower as a free gift; but if they, of their own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, Take it and enjoy it with right good cheer.

[RK]:You shall give the women their due dowries, equitably. If they willingly forfeit anything, then you may accept it; it is rightfully yours.

Ya ayyuha allatheenaootoo alkitaba aminoo bima nazzalnamusaddiqan lima maAAakum min qabli an natmisawujoohan fanaruddaha AAala adbarihaaw nalAAanahum kama laAAanna as-habaalssabti wakana amru Allahi mafAAoolan

ياايها الذين اوتوا الكتاب امنوا بما نزلنا مصدقا لما معكم من قبل ان نطمس وجوها فنردها علي ادبارها او نلعنهم كما لعنا اصحاب السبت وكان امر الله مفعولا

[YA]: O ye People of the Book! believe in what We have (now) revealed, confirming what was (already) with you, before We change the face and fame of some (of you) beyond all recognition, and turn them hindwards, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers, for the decision of Allah Must be carried out.

[RK]:O you who received the scripture, you shall believe in what we reveal herein, confirming what you have, before we banish certain faces to exile, or condemn them as we condemned those who desecrated the Sabbath. GOD's command is done.

Waman yutiAAi Allaha waalrrasoolafaola-ika maAAa allatheena anAAama AllahuAAalayhim mina alnnabiyyeena waalssiddeeqeenawaalshshuhada-i waalssaliheenawahasuna ola-ika rafeeqan

ومن يطع الله والرسول فاولئك مع الذين انعم الله عليهم من النبيين والصديقين والشهداء والصالحين وحسن اولئك رفيقا

[YA]: All who obey Allah and the messenger are in the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): Ah! what a beautiful fellowship!

[RK]:Those who obey GOD and the messenger belong with those blessed by GOD - the prophets, the saints, the martyrs, and the righteous. These are the best company.

الله لا اله الا هو ليجمعنكم الي يوم القيامة لاريب فيه ومن اصدق من الله حديثا

[YA]: Allah! There is no god but He: of a surety He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment, about which there is no doubt. And whose word can be truer than Allah's?

[RK]:GOD: there is no god except He. He will surely summon you on the Day of Resurrection - the inevitable day. Whose narration is more truthful than GOD's?

Wama kana limu/minin anyaqtula mu/minan illa khataan waman qatala mu/minankhataan fatahreeru raqabatin mu/minatin wadiyatunmusallamatun ila ahlihi illa an yassaddaqoofa-in kana min qawmin AAaduwwin lakum wahuwa mu/minun fatahreeruraqabatin mu/minatin wa-in kana min qawmin baynakumwabaynahum meethaqun fadiyatun musallamatun ilaahlihi watahreeru raqabatin mu/minatin faman lam yajid fasiyamushahrayni mutatabiAAayni tawbatan mina Allahi wakanaAllahu AAaleeman hakeeman

وماكان لمؤمن ا ن يقتل مؤمنا الا خطا ومن قتل مؤمنا خطا فتحرير رقبة مؤمنة ودية مسلمة الي اهله الا ان يصدقوا فان كان من قوم عدو لكم وهو مؤمن فتحرير رقبة مؤمنة وان كان من قوم بينكم وبينهم ميثاق فدية مسلمة الي اهله وتحرير رقبة مؤمنة فمن لم يجد فصيام شهرين متتابعين توبة من الله وكان الله عليما حكيما

[YA]: Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom.

[RK]:No believer shall kill another believer, unless it is an accident. If one kills a believer by accident, he shall atone by freeing a believing slave, and paying a compensation to the victim's family, unless they forfeit such a compensation as a charity. If the victim belonged to people who are at war with you, though he was a believer, you shall atone by freeing a believing slave. If he belonged to people with whom you have signed a peace treaty, you shall pay the compensation in addition to freeing a believing slave. If you cannot find a slave to free, you shall atone by fasting two consecutive months, in order to be redeemed by GOD. GOD is Knower, Most Wise.

La khayra fee katheerin min najwahumilla man amara bisadaqatin aw maAAroofin aw islahinbayna alnnasi waman yafAAal thalika ibtighaamardati Allahi fasawfa nu/teehi ajran AAatheeman

لاخير في كثير من نجواهم الا من امر بصدقة او معروف او اصلاح بين الناس ومن يفعل ذلك ابتغاء مرضاة الله فسوف نؤتيه اجرا عظيما

[YA]: In most of their secret talks there is no good: But if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or conciliation between men, (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest (value).

[RK]:There is nothing good about their private conferences, except for those who advocate charity, or righteous works, or making peace among the people. Anyone who does this, in response to GOD's teachings, we will grant him a great recompense.

Waallatheena amanoowaAAamiloo alssalihati sanudkhiluhum jannatintajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideenafeeha abadan waAAda Allahi haqqan waman asdaqumina Allahi qeelan

والذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات سندخلهم جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها ابدا وعد الله حقا ومن اصدق من الله قيلا

[YA]: But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness,- we shall soon admit them to gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,-to dwell therein for ever. Allah's promise is the truth, and whose word can be truer than Allah's?

[RK]:As for those who believe and lead a righteous life, we will admit them into gardens with flowing streams, wherein they live forever. Such is the truthful promise of GOD. Whose utterances are more truthful than GOD's?

Wakatabna AAalayhim feeha annaalnnafsa bialnnafsi waalAAayna bialAAayniwaal-anfa bial-anfi waalothuna bialothuniwaalssinna bialssinni waaljurooha qisasunfaman tasaddaqa bihi fahuwa kaffaratun lahu wamanlam yahkum bima anzala Allahu faola-ikahumu alththalimoona

وكتبنا عليهم فيها ان النفس بالنفس والعين بالعين والانف بالانف والاذن بالاذن والسن بالسن والجروح قصاص فمن تصدق به فهو كفارة له ومن لم يحكم بما انزل الله فاولئك هم الظالمون

[YA]: We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers.

[RK]:And we decreed for them in it that: the life for the life, the eye for the eye, the nose for the nose, the ear for the ear, the tooth for the tooth, and an equivalent injury for any injury. If one forfeits what is due to him as a charity, it will atone for his sins. Those who do not rule in accordance with GOD's revelations are the unjust.

Waqaffayna AAala atharihimbiAAeesa ibni maryama musaddiqan lima baynayadayhi mina alttawrati waataynahual-injeela feehi hudan wanoorun wamusaddiqan limabayna yadayhi mina alttawrati wahudan wamawAAithatanlilmuttaqeena

وقفينا علي اثارهم بعيسي ابن مريم مصدقا لما بين يديه من التوراة واتيناه الانجيل فيه هدي ونور ومصدقا لما بين يديه من التوراة وهدي وموعظة للمتقين

[YA]: And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.

[RK]:Subsequent to them, we sent Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming the previous scripture, the Torah. We gave him the Gospel, containing guidance and light, and confirming the previous scriptures, the Torah, and augmenting its guidance and light, and to enlighten the righteous.

Waanzalna ilayka alkitaba bialhaqqimusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alkitabiwamuhayminan AAalayhi faohkum baynahum bimaanzala Allahu wala tattabiAA ahwaahum AAammajaaka mina alhaqqi likullin jaAAalna minkumshirAAatan waminhajan walaw shaa AllahulajaAAalakum ommatan wahidatan walakin liyabluwakumfeema atakum faistabiqoo alkhayratiila Allahi marjiAAukum jameeAAan fayunabbi-okum bimakuntum feehi takhtalifoona

وانزلنا اليك الكتاب بالحق مصدقا لما بين يديه من الكتاب ومهيمنا عليه فاحكم بينهم بما انزل الله ولاتتبع اهواءهم عما جاءك من الحق لكل جعلنا منكم شرعة ومنهاجا ولو شاء الله لجعلكم امة واحدة ولكن ليبلوكم فيما اتاكم فاستبقوا الخيرات الي الله مرجعكم جميعا فينبئكم بما كنتم فيه تختلفون

[YA]: To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

[RK]:Then we revealed to you this scripture, truthfully, confirming previous scriptures, and superseding them. You shall rule among them in accordance with GOD's revelations, and do not follow their wishes if they differ from the truth that came to you. For each of you, we have decreed laws and different rites. Had GOD willed, He could have made you one congregation. But He thus puts you to the test through the revelations He has given each of you. You shall compete in righteousness. To GOD is your final destiny - all of you - then He will inform you of everything you had disputed.

Ma almaseehu ibnu maryama illarasoolun qad khalat min qablihi alrrusulu waommuhu siddeeqatunkana ya/kulani alttaAAamaonthur kayfa nubayyinu lahumu al-ayatithumma onthur anna yu/fakoona

ماالمسيح ابن مريم الا رسول قد خلت من قبله الرسل وامه صديقة كانا ياكلان الطعام انظر كيف نبين لهم الايات ثم انظر اني يؤفكون

[YA]: Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!

[RK]:The Messiah, son of Mary, is no more than a messenger like the messengers before him, and his mother was a saint. Both of them used to eat the food. Note how we explain the revelations for them, and note how they still deviate!

Qaloo nureedu an na/kula minhawatatma-inna quloobuna wanaAAlama an qad sadaqtanawanakoona AAalayha mina alshshahideena

قالوا نريد ان ناكل منها وتطمئن قلوبنا ونعلم ان قد صدقتنا ونكون عليها من الشاهدين

[YA]: They said: "We only wish to eat thereof and satisfy our hearts, and to know that thou hast indeed told us the truth; and that we ourselves may be witnesses to the miracle."

[RK]:They said, "We wish to eat from it, and to reassure our hearts, and to know for sure that you have told us the truth. We will serve as witnesses thereof."

Qala Allahu hathayawmu yanfaAAu alssadiqeena sidquhum lahumjannatun tajree min tahtiha al-anharukhalideena feeha abadan radiya AllahuAAanhum waradoo AAanhu thalika alfawzu alAAatheemu

قال الله هذا يوم ينفع الصادقين صدقهم لهم جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها ابدا رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه ذلك الفوز العظيم

[YA]: Allah will say: "This is a day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal Home: Allah well-pleased with them, and they with Allah: That is the great salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires).

[RK]:GOD will proclaim, "This is a day when the truthful will be saved by their truthfulness." They have deserved gardens with flowing streams. They abide therein forever. GOD is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. This is the greatest triumph.

قل ارايتكم ان اتاكم عذاب الله او اتتكم الساعة اغير الله تدعون ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: Say: "Think ye to yourselves, if there come upon you the wrath of Allah, or the Hour (that ye dread), would ye then call upon other than Allah?- (reply) if ye are truthful!

[RK]:Say, "What if GOD's retribution came to you, or the Hour came to you: would you implore other than GOD, if you are truthful?"

Wahatha kitabun anzalnahumubarakun musaddiqu allathee bayna yadayhiwalitunthira omma alqura waman hawlahawaallatheena yu/minoona bial-akhiratiyu/minoona bihi wahum AAala salatihim yuhafithoona

وهذا كتاب انزلناه مبارك مصدق الذي بين يديه ولتنذر ام القري ومن حولها والذين يؤمنون بالاخرة يؤمنون به وهم علي صلاتهم يحافظون

[YA]: And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers.

[RK]:This too is a blessed scripture that we have revealed, confirming the previous scriptures, that you may warn the most important community and all those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter will believe in this (scripture), and will observe the Contact Prayers (Salat).

Watammat kalimatu rabbika sidqanwaAAadlan la mubaddila likalimatihi wahuwa alssameeAAualAAaleemu

وتمت كلمة ربك صدقا وعدلا لامبدل لكلماته وهو السميع العليم

[YA]: The word of thy Lord doth find its fulfilment in truth and in justice: None can change His words: for He is the one who heareth and knoweth all.

[RK]:The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.

Thamaniyata azwajin mina aldda/niithnayni wamina almaAAzi ithnayni qul alththakarayniharrama ami alonthayayni amma ishtamalat AAalayhiarhamu alonthayayni nabbi-oonee biAAilmin in kuntum sadiqeena

ثمانية ازواج من الضان اثنين ومن المعز اثنين قل ءالذكرين حرم ام الانثيين اما اشتملت عليه ارحام الانثيين نبئوني بعلم ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: (Take) eight (head of cattle) in (four) pairs: of sheep a pair, and of goats a pair; say, hath He forbidden the two males, or the two females, or (the young) which the wombs of the two females enclose? Tell me with knowledge if ye are truthful:

[RK]:Eight kinds of livestock: regarding the two kinds of sheep, and the two kinds of goats, say, "Is it the two males that He prohibited, or the two females, or the contents of the wombs of the two females? Tell me what you know, if you are truthful."

WaAAala allatheena hadooharramna kulla thee thufurinwamina albaqari waalghanami harramnaAAalayhim shuhoomahuma illa ma hamalatthuhooruhuma awi alhawayaaw ma ikhtalata biAAathmin thalikajazaynahum bibaghyihim wa-inna lasadiqoona

وعلي الذين هادوا حرمنا كل ذي ظفر ومن البقر والغنم حرمنا عليهم شحومهما الا ماحملت ظهورهما او الحوايا او مااختلط بعظم ذلك جزيناهم ببغيهم وانا لصادقون

[YA]: For those who followed the Jewish Law, We forbade every (animal) with undivided hoof, and We forbade them that fat of the ox and the sheep, except what adheres to their backs or their entrails, or is mixed up with a bone: this in recompense for their wilful disobedience: for We are true (in Our ordinances).

[RK]:For those who are Jewish we prohibited animals with undivided hoofs; and of the cattle and sheep we prohibited the fat, except that which is carried on their backs, or in the viscera, or mixed with bones. That was a retribution for their transgressions, and we are truthful.

Qaloo aji/tana linaAAbuda Allahawahdahu wanathara ma kana yaAAbudu abaonafa/tina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena

قالوا اجئتنا لنعبد الله وحده ونذر ما كان يعبد اباؤنا فاتنا بما تعدنا ان كنت من الصادقين

[YA]: They said: "Comest thou to us, that we may worship Allah alone, and give up the cult of our fathers? bring us what thou threatenest us with, if so be that thou tellest the truth!"

[RK]:They said, "Did you come to make us worship GOD alone, and abandon what our parents used to worship? We challenge you to bring the doom you threaten us with, if you are truthful."

قال ان كنت جئت باية فات بها ان كنت من الصادقين

[YA]: (Pharaoh) said: "If indeed thou hast come with a Sign, show it forth,- if thou tellest the truth."

[RK]:He said, "If you have a sign, then produce it, if you are truthful."

Inna allatheena tadAAoona min dooniAllahi AAibadun amthalukum faodAAoohumfalyastajeeboo lakum in kuntum sadiqeena

ان الذين تدعون من دون الله عباد امثالكم فادعوهم فليستجيبوا لكم ان كنتم صادقين

[YA]: Verily those whom ye call upon besides Allah are servants like unto you: Call upon them, and let them listen to your prayer, if ye are (indeed) truthful!

[RK]:The idols you invoke besides GOD are creatures like you. Go ahead and call upon them; let them respond to you, if you are right.

AAafa Allahu AAanka lima athintalahum hatta yatabayyana laka allatheena sadaqoowataAAlama alkathibeena

عفا الله عنك لم اذنت لهم حتي يتبين لك الذين صدقوا وتعلم الكاذبين

[YA]: Allah give thee grace! why didst thou grant them until those who told the truth were seen by thee in a clear light, and thou hadst proved the liars?

[RK]:GOD has pardoned you: why did you give them permission (to stay behind), before you could distinguish those who are truthful from the liars?
