Kayfa takfuroona biAllahiwakuntum amwatan faahyakum thumma yumeetukumthumma yuhyeekum thumma ilayhi turjaAAoona

كيف تكفرون بالله وكنتم امواتا فاحياكم ثم يميتكم ثم يحييكم ثم اليه ترجعون

[YA]: How can ye reject the faith in Allah?- seeing that ye were without life, and He gave you life; then will He cause you to die, and will again bring you to life; and again to Him will ye return.

[RK]:How can you disbelieve in GOD when you were dead and He gave you life, then He puts you to death, then He brings you back to life, then to Him you ultimately return?

Allatheena yathunnoonaannahum mulaqoo rabbihim waannahum ilayhi rajiAAoona

الذين يظنون انهم ملاقوا ربهم وانهم اليه راجعون

[YA]: Who bear in mind the certainty that they are to meet their Lord, and that they are to return to Him.

[RK]:who believe that they will meet their Lord; that to Him they ultimately return.

Allatheena itha asabat-hummuseebatun qaloo inna lillahi wa-innailayhi rajiAAoona

الذين اذا اصابتهم مصيبة قالوا انا لله وانا اليه راجعون

[YA]: Who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return":-

[RK]:When an affliction befalls them, they say, "We belong to GOD, and to Him we are returning."

Waatimmoo alhajja waalAAumratalillahi fa-in ohsirtum fama istaysara minaalhadyi wala tahliqoo ruoosakum hattayablugha alhadyu mahillahu faman kana minkum mareedanaw bihi athan min ra/sihi fafidyatun min siyaminaw sadaqatin aw nusukin fa-itha amintum famantamattaAAa bialAAumrati ila alhajji famaistaysara mina alhadyi faman lam yajid fasiyamuthalathati ayyamin fee alhajji wasabAAatin itharajaAAtum tilka AAasharatun kamilatun thalika limanlam yakun ahluhu hadiree almasjidi alharamiwaittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allahashadeedu alAAiqabi

واتموا الحج والعمرة لله فان احصرتم فما استيسر من الهدي ولاتحلقوا رؤوسكم حتي يبلغ الهدي محله فمن كان منكم مريضا او به اذي من راسه ففدية من صيام او صدقة او نسك فاذا امنتم فمن تمتع بالعمرة الي الحج فما استيسر من الهدي فمن لم يجد فصيام ثلاثة ايام في الحج وسبعة اذا رجعتم تلك عشرة كاملة ذلك لمن لم يكن اهله حاضري المسجد الحرام واتقوا الله واعلموا ان الله شديد العقاب

[YA]: And complete the Hajj or 'umra in the service of Allah. But if ye are prevented (From completing it), send an offering for sacrifice, such as ye may find, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (Necessitating shaving), (He should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice; and when ye are in peaceful conditions (again), if any one wishes to continue the 'umra on to the hajj, He must make an offering, such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, He should fast three days during the hajj and seven days on his return, Making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque. And fear Allah, and know that Allah Is strict in punishment.

[RK]:You shall observe the complete rites of Hajj and `Umrah for GOD. If you are prevented, you shall send an offering, and do not resume cutting your hair until your offering has reached its destination. If you are ill, or suffering a head injury (and you must cut your hair), you shall expiate by fasting, or giving to charity, or some other form of worship. During the normal Hajj, if you break the state of Ihraam (sanctity) between `Umrah and Hajj, you shall expiate by offering an animal sacrifice. If you cannot afford it, you shall fast three days during Hajj and seven when you return home - this completes ten - provided you do not live at the Sacred Masjid. You shall observe GOD, and know that GOD is strict in enforcing retribution.

Hal yanthuroona illaan ya/tiyahumu Allahu fee thulalin minaalghamami waalmala-ikatu waqudiyaal-amru wa-ila Allahi turjaAAu al-omooru

هل ينظرون الا ان ياتيهم الله في ظلل من الغمام والملائكة وقضي الامر والي الله ترجع الامور

[YA]: Will they wait until Allah comes to them in canopies of clouds, with angels (in His train) and the question is (thus) settled? but to Allah do all questions go back (for decision).

[RK]:Are they waiting until GOD Himself comes to them in dense clouds, together with the angels? When this happens, the whole matter will be terminated, and to GOD everything will be returned.

Fa-in tallaqaha falatahillu lahu min baAAdu hatta tankihazawjan ghayrahu fa-in tallaqaha fala junahaAAalayhima an yatarajaAAa in thannaan yuqeema hudooda Allahi watilka hudooduAllahi yubayyinuha liqawmin yaAAlamoona

فان طلقها فلا تحل له من بعد حتي تنكح زوجا غيره فان طلقها فلا جناح عليهما ان يتراجعا ان ظنا ان يقيما حدود الله وتلك حدود الله يبينها لقوم يعلمون

[YA]: So if a husband divorces his wife (irrevocably), He cannot, after that, re-marry her until after she has married another husband and He has divorced her. In that case there is no blame on either of them if they re-unite, provided they feel that they can keep the limits ordained by Allah. Such are the limits ordained by Allah, which He makes plain to those who understand.

[RK]:If he divorces her (for the third time), it is unlawful for him to remarry her, unless she marries another man, then he divorces her. The first husband can then remarry her, so long as they observe GOD's laws. These are GOD's laws; He explains them for people who know.

Man tha allathee yuqriduAllaha qardan hasanan fayudaAAifahulahu adAAafan katheeratan waAllahuyaqbidu wayabsutu wa-ilayhi turjaAAoona

من ذا الذي يقرض الله قرضا حسنا فيضاعفه له اضعافا كثيرة والله يقبض ويبسط واليه ترجعون

[YA]: Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan, which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply many times? It is Allah that giveth (you) Want or plenty, and to Him shall be your return.

[RK]:Who would lend GOD a loan of righteousness, to have it repaid to them multiplied manifold? GOD is the One who provides and withholds, and to Him you will be returned.

Waittaqoo yawman turjaAAoona feehiila Allahi thumma tuwaffa kullu nafsin makasabat wahum la yuthlamoona

واتقوا يوما ترجعون فيه الي الله ثم توفي كل نفس ماكسبت وهم لايظلمون

[YA]: And fear the Day when ye shall be brought back to Allah. Then shall every soul be paid what it earned, and none shall be dealt with unjustly.

[RK]:Beware of the day when you are returned to GOD, and every soul is paid for everything it had done, without the least injustice.

Ith qala Allahu yaAAeesa innee mutawaffeeka warafiAAuka ilayya wamutahhirukamina allatheena kafaroo wajaAAilu allatheenaittabaAAooka fawqa allatheena kafaroo ila yawmialqiyamati thumma ilayya marjiAAukum faahkumubaynakum feema kuntum feehi takhtalifoona

اذ قال الله ياعيسي اني متوفيك ورافعك الي ومطهرك من الذين كفروا وجاعل الذين اتبعوك فوق الذين كفروا الي يوم القيامة ثم الي مرجعكم فاحكم بينكم فيما كنتم فيه تختلفون

[YA]: Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.

[RK]:Thus, GOD said, "O Jesus, I am terminating your life, raising you to Me, and ridding you of the disbelievers. I will exalt those who follow you above those who disbelieve, till the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is the ultimate destiny of all of you, then I will judge among you regarding your disputes.

Waqalat ta-ifatun min ahlialkitabi aminoo biallathee onzilaAAala allatheena amanoo wajha alnnahariwaokfuroo akhirahu laAAallahum yarjiAAoona

وقالت طائفة من اهل الكتاب امنوا بالذي انزل علي الذين امنوا وجه النهار واكفروا اخره لعلهم يرجعون

[YA]: A section of the People of the Book say: "Believe in the morning what is revealed to the believers, but reject it at the end of the day; perchance they may (themselves) Turn back;

[RK]:Some followers of the scripture say, "Believe in what was sent down to the believers in the morning, and reject it in the evening; maybe someday they will revert.

Afaghayra deeni Allahi yabghoonawalahu aslama man fee alssamawati waal-arditawAAan wakarhan wa-ilayhi yurjaAAoona

افغير دين الله يبغون وله اسلم من في السماوات والارض طوعا وكرها واليه يرجعون

[YA]: Do they seek for other than the Religion of Allah?-while all creatures in the heavens and on earth have, willing or unwilling, bowed to His Will (Accepted Islam), and to Him shall they all be brought back.

[RK]:Are they seeking other than GOD's religion, when everything in the heavens and the earth has submitted to Him, willingly and unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned?

Walillahi ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi wa-ila AllahiturjaAAu al-omooru

ولله مافي السماوات ومافي الارض والي الله ترجع الامور

[YA]: To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: To Him do all questions go back (for decision).

[RK]:To GOD belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth, and all matters are controlled by GOD.

Waanzalna ilayka alkitaba bialhaqqimusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alkitabiwamuhayminan AAalayhi faohkum baynahum bimaanzala Allahu wala tattabiAA ahwaahum AAammajaaka mina alhaqqi likullin jaAAalna minkumshirAAatan waminhajan walaw shaa AllahulajaAAalakum ommatan wahidatan walakin liyabluwakumfeema atakum faistabiqoo alkhayratiila Allahi marjiAAukum jameeAAan fayunabbi-okum bimakuntum feehi takhtalifoona

وانزلنا اليك الكتاب بالحق مصدقا لما بين يديه من الكتاب ومهيمنا عليه فاحكم بينهم بما انزل الله ولاتتبع اهواءهم عما جاءك من الحق لكل جعلنا منكم شرعة ومنهاجا ولو شاء الله لجعلكم امة واحدة ولكن ليبلوكم فيما اتاكم فاستبقوا الخيرات الي الله مرجعكم جميعا فينبئكم بما كنتم فيه تختلفون

[YA]: To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

[RK]:Then we revealed to you this scripture, truthfully, confirming previous scriptures, and superseding them. You shall rule among them in accordance with GOD's revelations, and do not follow their wishes if they differ from the truth that came to you. For each of you, we have decreed laws and different rites. Had GOD willed, He could have made you one congregation. But He thus puts you to the test through the revelations He has given each of you. You shall compete in righteousness. To GOD is your final destiny - all of you - then He will inform you of everything you had disputed.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooAAalaykum anfusakum la yadurrukum man dallaitha ihtadaytum ila Allahi marjiAAukumjameeAAan fayunabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloona

ياايها الذين امنوا عليكم انفسكم لايضركم من ضل اذا اهتديتم الي الله مرجعكم جميعا فينبئكم بما كنتم تعملون

[YA]: O ye who believe! Guard your own souls: If ye follow (right) guidance, no hurt can come to you from those who stray. the goal of you all is to Allah: it is He that will show you the truth of all that ye do.

[RK]:O you who believe, you should worry only about your own necks. If the others go astray, they cannot hurt you, as long as you are guided. To GOD is your ultimate destiny, all of you, then He will inform you of everything you had done.

Innama yastajeebu allatheenayasmaAAoona waalmawta yabAAathuhumu Allahuthumma ilayhi yurjaAAoona

انما يستجيب الذين يسمعون والموتي يبعثهم الله ثم اليه يرجعون

[YA]: Those who listen (in truth), be sure, will accept: as to the dead, Allah will raise them up; then will they be turned unto Him.

[RK]:The only ones to respond are those who listen. GOD resurrects the dead; they ultimately return to Him.

Wahuwa allathee yatawaffakumbiallayli wayaAAlamu ma jarahtum bialnnaharithumma yabAAathukum feehi liyuqda ajalun musamman thummailayhi marjiAAukum thumma yunabbi-okum bima kuntumtaAAmaloona

وهو الذي يتوفاكم بالليل ويعلم ماجرحتم بالنهار ثم يبعثكم فيه ليقضي اجل مسمي ثم اليه مرجعكم ثم ينبئكم بما كنتم تعملون

[YA]: It is He who doth take your souls by night, and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day: by day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; In the end unto Him will be your return; then will He show you the truth of all that ye did.

[RK]:He is the One who puts you to death during the night, and knows even the smallest of your actions during the day. He resurrects you every morning, until your life span is fulfilled, then to Him is your ultimate return. He will then inform you of everything you had done.

Wala tasubboo allatheenayadAAoona min dooni Allahi fayasubboo AllahaAAadwan bighayri AAilmin kathalika zayyanna likulliommatin AAamalahum thumma ila rabbihim marjiAAuhumfayunabbi-ohum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

ولاتسبوا الذين يدعون من دون الله فيسبوا الله عدوا بغير علم كذلك زينا لكل امة عملهم ثم الي ربهم مرجعهم فينبئهم بماكانوا يعملون

[YA]: Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they out of spite revile Allah in their ignorance. Thus have We made alluring to each people its own doings. In the end will they return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did.

[RK]:Do not curse the idols they set up beside GOD, lest they blaspheme and curse GOD, out of ignorance. We have adorned the works of every group in their eyes. Ultimately, they return to their Lord, then He informs them of everything they had done.

Qul aghayra Allahi abghee rabbanwahuwa rabbu kulli shay-in wala taksibu kullu nafsin illaAAalayha wala taziru waziratun wizra okhrathumma ila rabbikum marjiAAukum fayunabbi-okum bimakuntum feehi takhtalifoona

قل اغير الله ابغي ربا وهو رب كل شئ ولاتكسب كل نفس الا عليها ولاتزر وازرة وزر اخري ثم الي ربكم مرجعكم فينبئكم بما كنتم فيه تختلفون

[YA]: Say: "Shall I seek for (my) Cherisher other than Allah, when He is the Cherisher of all things (that exist)? Every soul draws the meed of its acts on none but itself: no bearer of burdens can bear of burdens can bear the burden of another. Your goal in the end is towards Allah: He will tell you the truth of the things wherein ye disputed."

[RK]:Say, "Shall I seek other than GOD as a lord, when He is the Lord of all things? No soul benefits except from its own works, and none bears the burden of another. Ultimately, you return to your Lord, then He informs you regarding all your disputes."

Walamma rajaAAa moosa ilaqawmihi ghadbana asifan qala bi/samakhalaftumoonee min baAAdee aAAajiltum amra rabbikum waalqa al-alwahawaakhatha bira/si akheehi yajurruhu ilayhi qalaibna omma inna alqawma istadAAafoonee wakadooyaqtuloonanee fala tushmit biya al-aAAdaa walatajAAalnee maAAa alqawmi alththalimeena

ولما رجع موسي الي قومه غضبان اسفا قال بئسما خلفتموني من بعدي اعجلتم امر ربكم والقي الالواح واخذ براس اخيه يجره اليه قال ابن ام ان القوم استضعفوني وكادوا يقتلونني فلاتشمت بي الاعداء ولاتجعلني مع القوم الظالمين

[YA]: When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin."

[RK]:When Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed, he said, "What a terrible thing you have done in my absence! Could you not wait for the commandments of your Lord?" He threw down the tablets, and took hold of his brother's head, pulling him towards himself. (Aaron) said, "Son of my mother, the people took advantage of my weakness, and almost killed me. Let not my enemies rejoice, and do not count me with the transgressing people."

WaqattaAAnahum fee al-ardiomaman minhumu alssalihoona waminhum doona thalikawabalawnahum bialhasanati waalssayyi-atilaAAallahum yarjiAAoona

وقطعناهم في الارض امما منهم الصالحون ومنهم دون ذلك وبلوناهم بالحسنات والسيئات لعلهم يرجعون

[YA]: We broke them up into sections on this earth. There are among them some that are the righteous, and some that are the opposite. We have tried them with both prosperity and adversity: In order that they might turn (to us).

[RK]:We scattered them among many communities throughout the land. Some of them were righteous, and some were less than righteous. We tested them with prosperity and hardship, that they may return.

Wakathalika nufassilu al-ayatiwalaAAallahum yarjiAAoona

وكذلك نفصل الايات ولعلهم يرجعون

[YA]: Thus do We explain the signs in detail; and perchance they may turn (unto Us).

[RK]:We thus explain the revelations, to enable the people to redeem themselves.

Wa-ith yureekumoohum ithiiltaqaytum fee aAAyunikum qaleelan wayuqallilukum fee aAAyunihimliyaqdiya Allahu amran kana mafAAoolan wa-ilaAllahi turjaAAu al-omooru

واذ يريكموهم اذا التقيتم في اعينكم قليلا ويقللكم في اعينهم ليقضي الله امرا كان مفعولا والي الله ترجع الامور

[YA]: And remember when ye met, He showed them to you as few in your eyes, and He made you appear as contemptible in their eyes: that Allah might accomplish a matter already enacted. For to Allah do all questions go back (for decision).

[RK]:And when the time came and you faced them, He made them appear fewer in your eyes, and made you appear fewer in their eyes as well. For GOD willed to carry out a certain plan. All decisions are made by GOD.

Fa-in rajaAAaka Allahu ila ta-ifatinminhum faista/thanooka lilkhurooji faqul lantakhrujoo maAAiya abadan walan tuqatiloo maAAiya AAaduwwaninnakum radeetum bialquAAoodi awwala marratin faoqAAudoomaAAa alkhalifeena

فان رجعك الله الي طائفة منهم فاستاذنوك للخروج فقل لن تخرجوا معي ابدا ولن تقاتلوا معي عدوا انكم رضيتم بالقعود اول مرة فاقعدوا مع الخالفين

[YA]: If, then, Allah bring thee back to any of them, and they ask thy permission to come out (with thee), say: "Never shall ye come out with me, nor fight an enemy with me: for ye preferred to sit inactive on the first occasion: Then sit ye (now) with those who lag behind."

[RK]:If GOD returns you to a situation where they ask your permission to mobilize with you, you shall say, "You will never again mobilize with me, nor will you ever fight with me against any enemy. For you have chosen to be with the sedentary in the first place. Therefore, you must stay with the sedentary."

YaAAtathiroona ilaykum itharajaAAtum ilayhim qul la taAAtathiroo lan nu/minalakum qad nabbaana Allahu min akhbarikumwasayara Allahu AAamalakum warasooluhu thummaturaddoona ila AAalimi alghaybi waalshshahadatifayunabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloona

يعتذرون اليكم اذا رجعتم اليهم قل لاتعتذروا لن نؤمن لكم قد نبانا الله من اخباركم وسيري الله عملكم ورسوله ثم تردون الي عالم الغيب والشهادة فينبئكم بما كنتم تعملون

[YA]: They will present their excuses to you when ye return to them. Say thou: "Present no excuses: we shall not believe you: Allah hath already informed us of the true state of matters concerning you: It is your actions that Allah and His Messenger will observe: in the end will ye be brought back to Him Who knoweth what is hidden and what is open: then will He show you the truth of all that ye did."

[RK]:They apologize to you when you return to them (from battle). Say, "Do not apologize; we no longer trust you. GOD has informed us about you." GOD will see your works, and so will the messenger, then you will be returned to the Knower of all secrets and declarations, then He will inform you of everything you had done.

Wama kana almu/minoonaliyanfiroo kaffatan falawla nafara min kullifirqatin minhum ta-ifatun liyatafaqqahoo fee alddeeniwaliyunthiroo qawmahum itha rajaAAoo ilayhimlaAAallahum yahtharoona

وماكان المؤمنون لينفروا كافة فلولا نفر من كل فرقة منهم طائفة ليتفقهوا في الدين ولينذروا قومهم اذا رجعوا اليهم لعلهم يحذرون

[YA]: Nor should the Believers all go forth together: if a contingent from every expedition remained behind, they could devote themselves to studies in religion, and admonish the people when they return to them,- that thus they (may learn) to guard themselves (against evil).

[RK]:When the believers mobilize, not all of them shall do so. A few from each group shall mobilize by devoting their time to studying the religion. Thus, they can pass the knowledge on to their people when they return, that they may remain religiously informed.

Ilayhi marjiAAukum jameeAAan waAAda Allahihaqqan innahu yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu liyajziyaallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihatibialqisti waallatheena kafaroo lahumsharabun min hameemin waAAathabun aleemunbima kanoo yakfuroona

اليه مرجعكم جميعا وعد الله حقا انه يبدؤ الخلق ثم يعيده ليجزي الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات بالقسط والذين كفروا لهم شراب من حميم وعذاب اليم بما كانوا يكفرون

[YA]: To Him will be your return- of all of you. The promise of Allah is true and sure. It is He Who beginneth the process of creation, and repeateth it, that He may reward with justice those who believe and work righteousness; but those who reject Him will have draughts of boiling fluids, and a penalty grievous, because they did reject Him.

[RK]:To Him is your ultimate return, all of you. This is GOD's truthful promise. He initiates the creation, then repeats it, in order to reward those who believe and lead a righteous life, equitably. As for those who disbelieve, they incur hellish drinks, and a painful retribution for their disbelieving.

Falamma anjahum ithahum yabghoona fee al-ardi bighayri alhaqqi yaayyuha alnnasu innama baghyukum AAalaanfusikum mataAAa alhayati alddunyathumma ilayna marjiAAukum fanunabbi-okum bimakuntum taAAmaloona

فلما انجاهم اذاهم يبغون في الارض بغير الحق ياايها الناس انما بغيكم علي انفسكم متاع الحياة الدنيا ثم الينا مرجعكم فننبئكم بما كنتم تعملون

[YA]: But when he delivereth them, behold! they transgress insolently through the earth in defiance of right! O mankind! your insolence is against your own souls,- an enjoyment of the life of the present: in the end, to Us is your return, and We shall show you the truth of all that ye did.

[RK]:But as soon as He saves them, they transgress on earth, and oppose the truth. O people, your transgression is only to the detriment of your own souls. You remain preoccupied with this worldly life, then to us is your ultimate return, then we inform you of everything you had done.

Wa-imma nuriyannaka baAAdaallathee naAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-ilaynamarjiAAuhum thumma Allahu shaheedun AAala mayafAAaloona

واما نرينك بعض الذي نعدهم او نتوفينك فالينا مرجعهم ثم الله شهيد علي مايفعلون

[YA]: Whether We show thee (realised in thy life-time) some part of what We promise them,- or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (Before that),- in any case, to Us is their return: ultimately Allah is witness, to all that they do.

[RK]:Whether we show you some (of the retribution) we promise them, or terminate your life before that, to us is their ultimate return. GOD witnesses everything they do.

هو يحيي ويميت واليه ترجعون

[YA]: It is He Who giveth life and who taketh it, and to Him shall ye all be brought back.

[RK]:He controls life and death, and to Him you will be returned.

متاع في الدنيا ثم الينا مرجعهم ثم نذيقهم العذاب الشديد بما كانوا يكفرون

[YA]: A little enjoyment in this world!- and then, to Us will be their return, then shall We make them taste the severest penalty for their blasphemies.

[RK]:They get their temporary share in this world, then to us is their ultimate return, then we commit them to severe retribution for their disbelieving.

الي الله مرجعكم وهو علي كل شئ قدير

[YA]: 'To Allah is your return, and He hath power over all things.'"

[RK]:To GOD is your ultimate return, and He is Omnipotent.

ولاينفعكم نصحي ان اردت ان انصح لكم ان كان الله يريد ان يغويكم هو ربكم واليه ترجعون

[YA]: "Of no profit will be my counsel to you, much as I desire to give you (good) counsel, if it be that Allah willeth to leave you astray: He is your Lord! and to Him will ye return!"

[RK]:"Even if I advised you, my advice cannot benefit you if it is GOD's will to send you astray. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned."

Walillahi ghaybu alssamawatiwaal-ardi wa-ilayhi yurjaAAu al-amru kulluhu faoAAbudhuwatawakkal AAalayhi wama rabbuka bighafilin AAammataAAmaloona

ولله غيب السماوات والارض واليه يرجع الامر كله فاعبده وتوكل عليه وماربك بغافل عما تعملون

[YA]: To Allah do belong the unseen (secrets) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him goeth back every affair (for decision): then worship Him, and put thy trust in Him: and thy Lord is not unmindful of aught that ye do.

[RK]:To GOD belongs the future of the heavens and the earth, and all matters are controlled by Him. You shall worship Him and trust in Him. Your Lord is never unaware of anything you do.

Yoosufu ayyuha alssiddeequaftina fee sabAAi baqaratin simaninya/kuluhunna sabAAun AAijafun wasabAAi sunbulatinkhudrin waokhara yabisatin laAAallee arjiAAuila alnnasi laAAallahum yaAAlamoona

يوسف ايها الصديق افتنا في سبع بقرات سمان ياكلهن سبع عجاف وسبع سنبلات خضر واخر يابسات لعلي ارجع الي الناس لعلهم يعلمون

[YA]: "O Joseph!" (he said) "O man of truth! Expound to us (the dream) of seven fat kine whom seven lean ones devour, and of seven green ears of corn and (seven) others withered: that I may return to the people, and that they may understand."

[RK]:"Joseph my friend, inform us about seven fat cows being devoured by seven skinny cows, and seven green spikes, and others shriveled. I wish to go back with some information for the people."

Waqala almaliku i/toonee bihi falammajaahu alrrasoolu qala irjiAA ilarabbika fais-alhu ma balu alnniswatiallatee qattaAAna aydiyahunna inna rabbeebikaydihinna AAaleemun

وقال الملك ائتوني به فلما جاءه الرسول قال ارجع الي ربك فساله مابال النسوة التي قطعن ايديهن ان ربي بكيدهن عليم

[YA]: So the king said: "Bring ye him unto me." But when the messenger came to him, (Joseph) said: "Go thou back to thy lord, and ask him, 'What is the state of mind of the ladies who cut their hands'? For my Lord is certainly well aware of their snare."

[RK]:The king said, "Bring him to me." When the messenger came to him, he said, "Go back to your lord and ask him to investigate the women who cut their hands. My Lord is fully aware of their schemes."

Waqala lifityanihi ijAAaloo bidaAAatahumfee rihalihim laAAallahum yaAArifoonaha ithainqalaboo ila ahlihim laAAallahum yarjiAAoona

وقال لفتيانه اجعلوا بضاعتهم في رحالهم لعلهم يعرفونها اذا انقلبوا الي اهلهم لعلهم يرجعون

[YA]: And (Joseph) told his servants to put their stock-in-trade (with which they had bartered) into their saddle-bags, so they should know it only when they returned to their people, in order that they might come back.

[RK]:He then instructed his assistants: "Put their goods back in their bags. When they find them upon their return to their family, they may come back sooner."

Falamma rajaAAoo ila abeehim qalooya abana muniAAa minna alkaylufaarsil maAAana akhana naktal wa-innalahu lahafithoona

فلما رجعوا الي ابيهم قالوا ياابانا منع منا الكيل فارسل معنا اخانا نكتل وانا له لحافظون

[YA]: Now when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother): So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed take every care of him."

[RK]:When they returned to their father, they said, "Our father, we can no longer get any provisions, unless you send our brother with us. We will take good care of him."

IrjiAAoo ila abeekum faqooloo yaabana inna ibnaka saraqa wama shahidnailla bima AAalimna wama kunnalilghaybi hafitheena

ارجعوا الي ابيكم فقولوا ياابانا ان ابنك سرق وماشهدنا الا بما علمنا وماكنا للغيب حافظين

[YA]: "Turn ye back to your father, and say, 'O our father! behold! thy son committed theft! we bear witness only to what we know, and we could not well guard against the unseen!

[RK]:"Go back to your father and tell him... `Our father, your son has committed a theft. We know for sure, because this is what we have witnessed. This was an unexpected occurrence.

انا نحن نرث الارض ومن عليها والينا يرجعون

[YA]: It is We Who will inherit the earth, and all beings thereon: to Us will they all be returned.

[RK]:We are the ones who inherit the earth and everyone on it; to us everyone will be returned.

اذ تمشي اختك فتقول هل ادلكم علي من يكفله فرجعناك الي امك كي تقر عينها ولاتحزن وقتلت نفسا فنجيناك من الغم وفتناك فتونا فلبثت سنين في اهل مدين ثم جئت علي قدر ياموسي

[YA]: "Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' So We brought thee back to thy mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve. Then thou didst slay a man, but We saved thee from trouble, and We tried thee in various ways. Then didst thou tarry a number of years with the people of Midian. Then didst thou come hither as ordained, O Moses!

[RK]:"Your sister walked to them and said, `I can tell you about a nursing mother who can take good care of him.' We thus returned you to your mother, that she may be happy and stop worrying. And when you killed a person, we saved you from the grievous consequences; indeed we tested you thoroughly. You stayed years with the people of Midyan, and now you have come back in accordance with a precise plan.

فرجع موسي الي قومه غضبان اسفا قال ياقوم الم يعدكم ربكم وعدا حسنا افطال عليكم العهد ام اردتم ان يحل عليكم غضب من ربكم فاخلفتم موعدي

[YA]: So Moses returned to his people in a state of indignation and sorrow. He said: "O my people! did not your Lord make a handsome promise to you? Did then the promise seem to you long (in coming)? Or did ye desire that Wrath should descend from your Lord on you, and so ye broke your promise to me?"

[RK]:Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed, saying, "O my people, did your Lord not promise you a good promise? Could you not wait? Did you want to incur wrath from your Lord? Is this why you broke your agreement with me?"

Afala yarawna alla yarjiAAuilayhim qawlan wala yamliku lahum darran walanafAAan

افلا يرون الا يرجع اليهم قولا ولايملك لهم ضرا ولانفعا

[YA]: Could they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good?

[RK]:Could they not see that it neither responded to them, nor possessed any power to harm them, or benefit them?

Qaloo lan nabraha AAalayhi AAakifeenahatta yarjiAAa ilayna moosa

قالوا لن نبرح عليه عاكفين حتي يرجع الينا موسي

[YA]: They had said: "We will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us."

[RK]:They said, "We will continue to worship it, until Moses comes back."

La tarkudoo wairjiAAooila ma otriftum feehi wamasakinikumlaAAallakum tus-aloona

لاتركضوا وارجعوا الي مااترفتم فيه ومساكنكم لعلكم تسالون

[YA]: Flee not, but return to the good things of this life which were given you, and to your homes in order that ye may be called to account.

[RK]:Do not run, and come back to your luxuries and your mansions, for you must be held accountable.

Kullu nafsin tha-iqatu almawtiwanablookum bialshsharri waalkhayri fitnatanwa-ilayna turjaAAoona

كل نفس ذائقة الموت ونبلوكم بالشر والخير فتنة والينا ترجعون

[YA]: Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. to Us must ye return.

[RK]:Every person will taste death, after we put you to the test through adversity and prosperity, then to us you ultimately return.

فجعلهم جذاذا الا كبيرا لهم لعلهم اليه يرجعون

[YA]: So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it.

[RK]:He broke them into pieces, except for a big one, that they may refer to it.

FarajaAAoo ila anfusihim faqalooinnakum antumu alththalimoona

فرجعوا الي انفسهم فقالوا انكم انتم الظالمون

[YA]: So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!"

[RK]:They were taken aback, and said to themselves, "Indeed, you are the ones who have been transgressing."

WataqattaAAoo amrahum baynahum kullunilayna rajiAAoona

وتقطعوا امرهم بينهم كل الينا راجعون

[YA]: But (later generations) cut off their affair (of unity), one from another: (yet) will they all return to Us.

[RK]:However, they divided themselves into disputing religions. All of them will come back to us (for judgment).

Waharamun AAalaqaryatin ahlaknaha annahum la yarjiAAoona

وحرام علي قرية اهلكناها انهم لايرجعون

[YA]: But there is a ban on any population which We have destroyed: that they shall not return,

[RK]:It is forbidden for any community we had annihilated to return.
