Waman athlamu mimman manaAAamasajida Allahi an yuthkara feehaismuhu wasaAAa fee kharabiha ola-ikama kana lahum an yadkhulooha illa kha-ifeenalahum fee alddunya khizyun walahum fee al-akhiratiAAathabun AAatheemunومن اظلم ممن منع مساجد الله ان يذكر فيها اسمه وسعي في خرابها اولئك ما كان لهم ان يدخلوها الا خائفين لهم في الدنيا خزي ولهم في الاخرة عذاب عظيم
[YA]: And who is more unjust than he who forbids that in places for the worship of Allah, Allah's name should be celebrated?-whose zeal is (in fact) to ruin them? It was not fitting that such should themselves enter them except in fear. For them there is nothing but disgrace in this world, and in the world to come, an exceeding torment.

[RK]:Who are more evil than those who boycott GOD's masjids, where His name is commemorated, and contribute to their desertion? These ought not to enter therein except fearfully. They will suffer in this life humiliation, and will suffer in the Hereafter a terrible retribution.

Allatheena yatarabbasoonabikum fa-in kana lakum fathun mina Allahi qalooalam nakun maAAakum wa-in kana lilkafireena naseebunqaloo alam nastahwith AAalaykum wanamnaAAkummina almu/mineena faAllahu yahkumu baynakumyawma alqiyamati walan yajAAala Allahu lilkafireenaAAala almu/mineena sabeelanالذين يتربصون بكم فان كان لكم فتح من الله قالوا الم نكن معكم وان كان للكافرين نصيب قالوا الم نستحوذ عليكم ونمنعكم من المؤمنين فالله يحكم بينكم يوم القيامة ولن يجعل الله للكافرين علي المؤمنين سبيلا
[YA]: (These are) the ones who wait and watch about you: if ye do gain a victory from Allah, they say: "Were we not with you?"- but if the unbelievers gain a success, they say (to them): "Did we not gain an advantage over you, and did we not guard you from the believers?" but Allah will judge betwixt you on the Day of Judgment. And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the believers.

[RK]:They watch you and wait; if you attain victory from GOD, they say (to you), "Were we not with you?" But if the disbelievers get a turn, they say (to them), "Did we not side with you, and protect you from the believers?" GOD will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection. GOD will never permit the disbelievers to prevail over the believers.

Qala ma manaAAaka allatasjuda ith amartuka qala ana khayrun minhukhalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teeninقال مامنعك الا تسجد اذ امرتك قال انا خير منه خلقتني من نار وخلقته من طين
[YA]: (Allah) said: "What prevented thee from prostrating when I commanded thee?" He said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay."

[RK]:He said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I ordered you?" He said, "I am better than he; You created me from fire, and created him from mud."

Wama manaAAahum an tuqbala minhumnafaqatuhum illa annahum kafaroo biAllahiwabirasoolihi wala ya/toona alssalatailla wahum kusala wala yunfiqoona illawahum karihoonaومامنعهم ان تقبل منهم نفقاتهم الا انهم كفروا بالله وبرسوله ولاياتون الصلاة الا وهم كسالي ولاينفقون الا وهم كارهون
[YA]: The only reasons why their contributions are not accepted are: that they reject Allah and His Messenger; that they come to prayer without earnestness; and that they offer contributions unwillingly.

[RK]:What prevented the acceptance of their spending is that they disbelieved in GOD and His messenger, and when they observed the Contact Prayers (Salat), they observed them lazily, and when they gave to charity, they did so grudgingly.

Falamma rajaAAoo ila abeehim qalooya abana muniAAa minna alkaylufaarsil maAAana akhana naktal wa-innalahu lahafithoonaفلما رجعوا الي ابيهم قالوا ياابانا منع منا الكيل فارسل معنا اخانا نكتل وانا له لحافظون
[YA]: Now when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother): So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed take every care of him."

[RK]:When they returned to their father, they said, "Our father, we can no longer get any provisions, unless you send our brother with us. We will take good care of him."

Wama manaAAana an nursila bial-ayatiilla an kaththaba biha al-awwaloona waataynathamooda alnnaqata mubsiratan fathalamoobiha wama nursilu bial-ayatiilla takhweefanومامنعنا ان نرسل بالايات الا ان كذب بها الاولون واتينا ثمود الناقة مبصرة فظلموا بها ومانرسل بالايات الا تخويفا
[YA]: And We refrain from sending the signs, only because the men of former generations treated them as false: We sent the she-camel to the Thamud to open their eyes, but they treated her wrongfully: We only send the Signs by way of terror (and warning from evil).

[RK]:What stopped us from sending the miracles is that the previous generations have rejected them. For example, we showed Thamoud the camel, a profound (miracle), but they transgressed against it. We sent the miracles only to instill reverence.

Wama manaAAa alnnasa anyu/minoo ith jaahumu alhuda illa an qalooabaAAatha Allahu basharan rasoolanومامنع الناس ان يؤمنوا اذ جاءهم الهدي الا ان قالوا ابعث الله بشرا رسولا
[YA]: What kept men back from belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this: they said, "Has Allah sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger?"

[RK]:What prevented the people from believing when the guidance came to them is their saying, "Did GOD send a human being as a messenger?"

Wama manaAAa alnnasa anyu/minoo ith jaahumu alhuda wayastaghfiroorabbahum illa an ta/tiyahum sunnatu al-awwaleena awya/tiyahumu alAAathabu qubulanومامنع الناس ان يؤمنوا اذ جاءهم الهدي ويستغفروا ربهم الا ان تاتيهم سنة الاولين او ياتيهم العذاب قبلا
[YA]: And what is there to keep back men from believing, now that Guidance has come to them, nor from praying for forgiveness from their Lord, but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with them, or the Wrath be brought to them face to face?

[RK]:Nothing prevented the people from believing, when the guidance came to them, and from seeking the forgiveness of their Lord, except that they demanded to see the same (kind of miracles) as the previous generations, or challenged to see the retribution beforehand.

[YA]: (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong,

[RK]:(Moses) said, "O Aaron, what is it that prevented you, when you saw them go astray,

Am lahum alihatun tamnaAAuhum mindoonina la yastateeAAoona nasraanfusihim wala hum minna yushaboonaام لهم الهة تمنعهم من دوننا لايستطيعون نصر انفسهم ولاهم منا يصبحون
[YA]: Or have they gods that can guard them from Us? They have no power to aid themselves, nor can they be defended from Us.

[RK]:Do they have gods who can protect them from us? They cannot even help themselves. Nor can they accompany one another when they are summoned to face us.

Qala ya ibleesu mamanaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta amkunta mina alAAaleenaقال ياابليس مامنعك ان تسجد لما خلقت بيدي استكبرت ام كنت من العالين
[YA]: (Allah) said: "O Iblis! What prevents thee from prostrating thyself to one whom I have created with my hands? Art thou haughty? Or art thou one of the high (and mighty) ones?"

[RK]:He said, "O Satan, what prevented you from prostrating before what I created with My hands? Are you too arrogant? Have you rebelled?"

[YA]: "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions;

[RK]:Forbidder of charity, aggressor, full of doubt.

[YA]: Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden,

[RK]:Never ending; never forbidden.

Huwa allathee akhraja allatheenakafaroo min ahli alkitabi min diyarihim li-awwalialhashri ma thanantum an yakhrujoo wathannooannahum maniAAatuhum husoonuhum mina Allahifaatahumu Allahu min haythu lam yahtasiboowaqathafa fee quloobihimu alrruAAba yukhriboonabuyootahum bi-aydeehim waaydee almu/mineena faiAAtabiroo yaolee al-absariهو الذي اخرج الذين كفروا من اهل الكتاب من ديارهم لاول الحشر ماظننتم ان يخرجوا وظنوا انهم مانعتهم حصونهم من الله فاتاهم الله من حيث لم يحتسبوا وقذف في قلوبهم الرعب يخربون بيوتهم بايديهم وايدي المؤمنين فاعتبروا يااولي الابصار
[YA]: It is He Who got out the Unbelievers among the People of the Book from their homes at the first gathering (of the forces). Little did ye think that they would get out: And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But the (Wrath of) Allah came to them from quarters from which they little expected (it), and cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their dwellings by their own hands and the hands of the Believers, take warning, then, O ye with eyes (to see)!

[RK]:He is the One who evicted those who disbelieved among the people of the scripture from their homes in a mass exodus. You never thought that they would leave, and they thought that their preparations would protect them from GOD. But then GOD came to them whence they never expected, and threw terror into their hearts. Thus, they abandoned their homes on their own volition, in addition to pressure from the believers. You should learn from this, O you who possess vision.

[YA]: (Habitually) hindering (all) good, transgressing beyond bounds, deep in sin,

[RK]:Forbidder of charity, a transgressor, a sinner.

Wa-itha massahu alkhayru manooAAanواذا مسه الخير منوعا
[YA]: And niggardly when good reaches him;-

[RK]:If blessed by wealth, stingy.

[YA]: But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs.

[RK]:And they forbid charity.
