Walaqad ji/tumoona furadakama khalaqnakum awwala marratin wataraktum makhawwalnakum waraa thuhoorikum wamanara maAAakum shufaAAaakumu allatheenazaAAamtum annahum feekum shurakao laqad taqattaAAabaynakum wadalla AAankum ma kuntum tazAAumoona

ولقد جئتمونا فرادي كما خلقناكم اول مرة وتركتم ماخولناكم وراء ظهوركم ومانري معكم شفعاءكم الذين زعمتم انهم فيكم شركاء لقد تقطع بينكم وضل عنكم ماكنتم تزعمون

[YA]: "And behold! ye come to us bare and alone as We created you for the first time: ye have left behind you all (the favours) which We bestowed on you: We see not with you your intercessors whom ye thought to be partners in your affairs: so now all relations between you have been cut off, and your (pet) fancies have left you in the lurch!"

[RK]:"You have come back to us as individuals, just as we created you the first time, and you have left behind what we provided for you. We do not see with you the intercessors that you idolized and claimed that they will help you. All ties among you have been severed; the idols you set up have abandoned you."

Wanuqallibu af-idatahum waabsarahumkama lam yu/minoo bihi awwala marratin wanatharuhumfee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona

ونقلب افئدتهم وابصارهم كما لم يؤمنوا به اول مرة ونذرهم في طغيانهم يعمهون

[YA]: We (too) shall turn to (confusion) their hearts and their eyes, even as they refused to believe in this in the first instance: We shall leave them in their trespasses, to wander in distraction.

[RK]:We control their minds and their hearts. Thus, since their decision is to disbelieve, we leave them in their transgressions, blundering.

Allatheena AAahadta minhumthumma yanqudoona AAahdahum fee kulli marratin wahum layattaqoona

الذين عاهدت منهم ثم ينقضون عهدهم في كل مرة وهم لايتقون

[YA]: They are those with whom thou didst make a covenant, but they break their covenant every time, and they have not the fear (of Allah).

[RK]:You reach agreements with them, but they violate their agreements every time; they are not righteous.

Ala tuqatiloona qawmannakathoo aymanahum wahammoo bi-ikhraji alrrasooliwahum badaookum awwala marratin atakhshawnahum faAllahuahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mu/mineena

الاتقاتلون قوما نكثوا ايمانهم وهموا باخراج الرسول وهم بدؤوكم اول مرة اتخشونهم فالله احق ان تخشوه ان كنتم مؤمنين

[YA]: Will ye not fight people who violated their oaths, plotted to expel the Messenger, and took the aggressive by being the first (to assault) you? Do ye fear them? Nay, it is Allah Whom ye should more justly fear, if ye believe!

[RK]:Would you not fight people who violated their treaties, tried to banish the messenger, and they are the ones who started the war in the first place? Are you afraid of them? GOD is the One you are supposed to fear, if you are believers.

Istaghfir lahum aw la tastaghfirlahum in tastaghfir lahum sabAAeena marratan falan yaghfira Allahulahum thalika bi-annahum kafaroo biAllahiwarasoolihi waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alfasiqeena

استغفر لهم او لاتستغفر لهم ان تستغفر لهم سبعين مرة فلن يغفر الله لهم ذلك بانهم كفروا بالله ورسوله والله لايهدي القوم الفاسقين

[YA]: Whether thou ask for their forgiveness, or not, (their sin is unforgivable): if thou ask seventy times for their forgiveness, Allah will not forgive them: because they have rejected Allah and His Messenger: and Allah guideth not those who are perversely rebellious.

[RK]:Whether you ask forgiveness for them, or do not ask forgiveness for them - even if you ask forgiveness for them seventy times - GOD will not forgive them. This is because they disbelieve in GOD and His messenger. GOD does not guide the wicked people.

Fa-in rajaAAaka Allahu ila ta-ifatinminhum faista/thanooka lilkhurooji faqul lantakhrujoo maAAiya abadan walan tuqatiloo maAAiya AAaduwwaninnakum radeetum bialquAAoodi awwala marratin faoqAAudoomaAAa alkhalifeena

فان رجعك الله الي طائفة منهم فاستاذنوك للخروج فقل لن تخرجوا معي ابدا ولن تقاتلوا معي عدوا انكم رضيتم بالقعود اول مرة فاقعدوا مع الخالفين

[YA]: If, then, Allah bring thee back to any of them, and they ask thy permission to come out (with thee), say: "Never shall ye come out with me, nor fight an enemy with me: for ye preferred to sit inactive on the first occasion: Then sit ye (now) with those who lag behind."

[RK]:If GOD returns you to a situation where they ask your permission to mobilize with you, you shall say, "You will never again mobilize with me, nor will you ever fight with me against any enemy. For you have chosen to be with the sedentary in the first place. Therefore, you must stay with the sedentary."

Wamimman hawlakum mina al-aAArabimunafiqoona wamin ahli almadeenati maradoo AAala alnnifaqila taAAlamuhum nahnu naAAlamuhum sanuAAaththibuhummarratayni thumma yuraddoona ila AAathabin AAatheemin

وممن حولكم من الاعراب منافقون ومن اهل المدينة مردوا علي النفاق لاتعلمهم نحن نعلمهم سنعذبهم مرتين ثم يردون الي عذاب عظيم

[YA]: Certain of the desert Arabs round about you are hypocrites, as well as (desert Arabs) among the Medina folk: they are obstinate in hypocrisy: thou knowest them not: We know them: twice shall We punish them: and in addition shall they be sent to a grievous penalty.

[RK]:Among the Arabs around you, there are hypocrites. Also, among the city dwellers, there are those who are accustomed to hypocrisy. You do not know them, but we know them. We will double the retribution for them, then they end up committed to a terrible retribution.

Awa la yarawna annahum yuftanoonafee kulli AAamin marratan aw marratayni thumma layatooboona wala hum yaththakkaroona

او لايرون انهم يفتنون في كل عام مرة او مرتين ثم لايتوبون ولاهم يذكرون

[YA]: See they not that they are tried every year once or twice? Yet they turn not in repentance, and they take no heed.

[RK]:Do they not see that they suffer from exacting trials every year once or twice? Yet, they consistently fail to repent, and fail to take heed?

او لايرون انهم يفتنون في كل عام مرة او مرتين ثم لايتوبون ولاهم يذكرون

Waqadayna ila banee isra-eelafee alkitabi latufsidunna fee al-ardi marratayniwalataAAlunna AAuluwwan kabeeran

وقضينا الي بني اسرائيل في الكتاب لتفسدن في الارض مرتين ولتعلن علوا كبيرا

[YA]: And We gave (Clear) Warning to the Children of Israel in the Book, that twice would they do mischief on the earth and be elated with mighty arrogance (and twice would they be punished)!

[RK]:We addressed the Children of Israel in the scripture: "You will commit gross evil on earth, twice. You are destined to fall into great heights of arrogance.

In ahsantum ahsantumli-anfusikum wa-in asa/tum falaha fa-itha jaawaAAdu al-akhirati liyasoo-oo wujoohakum waliyadkhulooalmasjida kama dakhaloohu awwala marratin waliyutabbiroo maAAalaw tatbeeran

ان احسنتم احسنتم لانفسكم وان اساتم فلها فاذا جاء وعد الاخرة ليسئوا وجوهكم وليدخلوا المسجد كما دخلوه اول مرة وليتبروا ماعلوا تتبيرا

[YA]: If ye did well, ye did well for yourselves; if ye did evil, (ye did it) against yourselves. So when the second of the warnings came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to disfigure your faces, and to enter your Temple as they had entered it before, and to visit with destruction all that fell into their power.

[RK]:"If you work righteousness, you work righteousness for your own good, but if you commit evil you do so to your own detriment. Thus, when the second time comes to pass, they will defeat you and enter the masjid, just as they did the first time. They will wipe out all the gains you had accomplished."

Aw khalqan mimma yakburu fee sudoorikumfasayaqooloona man yuAAeeduna quli allathee fatarakumawwala marratin fasayunghidoona ilayka ruoosahumwayaqooloona mata huwa qul AAasa an yakoona qareeban

او خلقا مما يكبر في صدوركم فسيقولون من يعيدنا قل الذي فطركم اول مرة فسينغضون اليك رؤوسهم ويقولون متي هو قل عسي ان يكون قريبا

[YA]: "Or created matter which, in your minds, is hardest (to be raised up),- (Yet shall ye be raised up)!" then will they say: "Who will cause us to return?" Say: "He who created you first!" Then will they wag their heads towards thee, and say, "When will that be?" Say, "May be it will be quite soon!

[RK]:"Even if you turn into any kind of creation that you deem impossible." They will then say, "Who will bring us back?" Say, "The One who created you in the first place." They will then shake their heads and say, "When will that be?" Say, "It may be closer than you think."

WaAAuridoo AAala rabbika saffanlaqad ji/tumoona kama khalaqnakum awwalamarratin bal zaAAamtum allan najAAala lakum mawAAidan

وعرضوا علي ربك صفا لقد جئتمونا كما خلقناكم اول مرة بل زعمتم الن نجعل لكم موعدا

[YA]: And they will be marshalled before thy Lord in ranks, (with the announcement), "Now have ye come to Us (bare) as We created you first: aye, ye thought We shall not fulfil the appointment made to you to meet (Us)!":

[RK]:They will be presented before your Lord in a row. You have come to us as individuals, just as we created you initially. Indeed, this is what you claimed will never happen.

Walaqad mananna AAalayka marratanokhra

ولقد مننا عليك مرة اخري

[YA]: "And indeed We conferred a favour on thee another time (before).

[RK]:"We have blessed you another time.

Ola-ika yu/tawna ajrahum marrataynibima sabaroo wayadraoona bialhasanatialssayyi-ata wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoona

اولئك يؤتون اجرهم مرتين بما صبروا ويدرؤون بالحسنة السيئة ومما رزقناهم ينفقون

[YA]: Twice will they be given their reward, for that they have persevered, that they avert Evil with Good, and that they spend (in charity) out of what We have given them.

[RK]:To these we grant twice the reward, because they steadfastly persevere. They counter evil works with good works, and from our provisions to them, they give.

Waman yaqnut minkunna lillahiwarasoolihi wataAAmal salihan nu/tiha ajrahamarratayni waaAAtadna laha rizqan kareeman

ومن يقنت منكن لله ورسوله وتعمل صالحا نؤتها اجرها مرتين واعتدنا لها رزقا كريما

[YA]: But any of you that is devout in the service of Allah and His Messenger, and works righteousness,- to her shall We grant her reward twice: and We have prepared for her a generous Sustenance.

[RK]:Any one of you who obeys GOD and His messenger, and leads a righteous life, we will grant her double the recompense, and we have prepared for her a generous provision.

Qul yuhyeeha allatheeanshaaha awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin AAaleemun

قل يحييها الذي انشاها اول مرة وهو بكل خلق عليم

[YA]: Say, "He will give them life Who created them for the first time! for He is Well-versed in every kind of creation!-

[RK]:Say, "The One who initiated them in the first place will resurrect them. He is fully aware of every creation."

Waqaloo lijuloodihim lima shahidtumAAalayna qaloo antaqana Allahuallathee antaqa kulla shay-in wahuwa khalaqakumawwala marratin wa-ilayhi turjaAAoona

وقالوا لجلودهم لم شهدتم علينه قالوا انطقنا الله الذي انطق كل شئ وهو خلقكم اول مرة واليه ترجعون

[YA]: They will say to their skins: "Why bear ye witness against us?" They will say: "Allah hath given us speech,- (He) Who giveth speech to everything: He created you for the first time, and unto Him were ye to return.

[RK]:They will say to their skins, "Why did you bear witness against us?" They will reply, "GOD made us speak up; He is the One who causes everything to speak. He is the One who created you the first time, and now you have been returned to Him."

ذو مرة فاستوي

[YA]: Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form);

[RK]:Possessor of all authority. From His highest height.

Wa-in yaraw ayatan yuAAridoowayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun

وان يروا اية يعرضوا ويقولوا سحر مستمر

[YA]: But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic."

[RK]:Then they saw a miracle; but they turned away and said, "Old magic."

Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehansarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin

انا ارسلنا عليهم ريحا صرصرا في يوم نحس مستمر

[YA]: For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster,

[RK]:We sent upon them violent winds, on a day of continuous misery.
