Qul in tukhfoo ma fee sudoorikumaw tubdoohu yaAAlamhu Allahu wayaAAlamu ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi waAllahu AAalakulli shay-in qadeerun

قل ان تخفوا مافي صدوركم او تبدوه يعلمه الله ويعلم مافي السماوات ومافي الارض والله علي كل شئ قدير

[YA]: Say: "Whether ye hide what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows it all: He knows what is in the heavens, and what is on earth. And Allah has power over all things.

[RK]:Say, "Whether you conceal your innermost thought, or declare it, GOD is fully aware thereof." He is fully aware of everything in the heavens and the earth. GOD is Omnipotent.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tattakhithoo bitanatan min doonikum laya/loonakum khabalan waddoo ma AAanittum qad badatialbaghdao min afwahihim wama tukhfee sudooruhumakbaru qad bayyanna lakumu al-ayati inkuntum taAAqiloona

ياايها الذين امنوا لاتتخذوا بطانة من دونكم لايالونكم خبالا ودوا ماعنتم قد بدت البغضاء من افواههم وماتخفي صدورهم اكبر قد بينا لكم الايات ان كنتم تعقلون

[YA]: O ye who believe! Take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks: They will not fail to corrupt you. They only desire your ruin: Rank hatred has already appeared from their mouths: What their hearts conceal is far worse. We have made plain to you the Signs, if ye have wisdom.

[RK]:O you who believe, do not befriend outsiders who never cease to wish you harm; they even wish to see you suffer. Hatred flows out of their mouths and what they hide in their chests is far worse. We thus clarify the revelations for you, if you understand.

Ha antum ola-i tuhibboonahumwala yuhibboonakum watu/minoona bialkitabikullihi wa-itha laqookum qaloo amannawa-itha khalaw AAaddoo AAalaykumu al-anamilamina alghaythi qul mootoo bighaythikuminna Allaha AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

هاانتم اولاء تحبونهم ولايحبونكم وتؤمنون بالكتاب كله واذا لقوكم قالوا امنا واذا خلوا عضوا عليكم الانامل من الغيظ قل موتوا بغيظكم ان الله عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: Ah! ye are those who love them, but they love you not,- though ye believe in the whole of the Book. When they meet you, they say, "We believe": But when they are alone, they bite off the very tips of their fingers at you in their rage. Say: "Perish in you rage; Allah knoweth well all the secrets of the heart."

[RK]:Here you are loving them, while they do not love you, and you believe in all the scripture. When they meet you they say, "We believe," but as soon as they leave, they bite their fingers out of rage towards you. Say, "Die in your rage." GOD is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

Thumma anzala AAalaykum min baAAdi alghammiamanatan nuAAasan yaghsha ta-ifatan minkumwata-ifatun qad ahammat-hum anfusuhum yathunnoonabiAllahi ghayra alhaqqi thannaaljahiliyyati yaqooloona hal lana mina al-amri minshay-in qul inna al-amra kullahu lillahi yukhfoona feeanfusihim ma la yubdoona laka yaqooloona law kanalana mina al-amri shay-on ma qutilna hahunaqul law kuntum fee buyootikum labaraza allatheena kutibaAAalayhimu alqatlu ila madajiAAihim waliyabtaliyaAllahu ma fee sudoorikum waliyumahhisama fee quloobikum waAllahu AAaleemun bithatialssudoori

ثم انزل عليكم من بعد الغم امنة نعاسا يغشي طائفة منكم وطائفة قد اهمتهم انفسهم يظنون بالله غير الحق ظن الجاهلية يقولون هل لنا من الامر من شئ قل ان الامر كله لله يخفون في انفسهم مالايبدون لك يقولون لو كان لنا من الامر شئ ماقتلنا هاهنا قل لو كنتم في بيوتكم لبرز الذين كتب عليهم القتل الي مضاجعهم وليبتلي الله مافي صدوركم وليمحص مافي قلوبكم والله عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions due to ignorance. They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.

[RK]:After the setback, He sent down upon you peaceful slumber that pacified some of you. Others among you were selfishly concerned about themselves. They harbored thoughts about GOD that were not right - the same thoughts they had harbored during the days of ignorance. Thus, they said, "Is anything up to us?" Say, "Everything is up to GOD." They concealed inside themselves what they did not reveal to you. They said, "If it was up to us, none of us would have been killed in this battle." Say, "Had you stayed in your homes, those destined to be killed would have crawled into their death beds." GOD thus puts you to the test to bring out your true convictions, and to test what is in your hearts. GOD is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

Illa allatheena yasiloonaila qawmin baynakum wabaynahum meethaqun aw jaookumhasirat sudooruhum an yuqatilookum awyuqatiloo qawmahum walaw shaa Allahu lasallatahumAAalaykum falaqatalookum fa-ini iAAtazalookum falam yuqatilookumwaalqaw ilaykumu alssalama fama jaAAala Allahulakum AAalayhim sabeelan

الا الذين يصلون الي قوم بينكم وبينهم ميثاق او جاؤوكم حصرت صدورهم ان يقاتلوكم او يقاتلوا قومهم ولو شاء الله لسلطهم عليكم فلقاتلوكم فان اعتزلوكم فلم يقاتلوكم والقوا اليكم السلم فما جعل الله لكم عليهم سبيلا

[YA]: Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them).

[RK]:Exempted are those who join people with whom you have signed a peace treaty, and those who come to you wishing not to fight you, nor fight their relatives. Had GOD willed, He could have permitted them to fight against you. Therefore, if they leave you alone, refrain from fighting you, and offer you peace, then GOD gives you no excuse to fight them.

Waothkuroo niAAmata AllahiAAalaykum wameethaqahu allathee wathaqakumbihi ith qultum samiAAna waataAAna waittaqooAllaha inna Allaha AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

واذكروا نعمة الله عليكم وميثاقه الذي واثقكم به اذ قلتم سمعنا واطعنا واتقوا الله ان الله عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: And call in remembrance the favour of Allah unto you, and His covenant, which He ratified with you, when ye said: "We hear and we obey": And fear Allah, for Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.

[RK]:Remember GOD's blessing upon you, and His covenant that He covenanted with you: you said, "We hear and we obey." You shall observe GOD; GOD is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

Faman yuridi Allahu an yahdiyahuyashrah sadrahu lil-islami waman yurid an yudillahuyajAAal sadrahu dayyiqan harajan kaannamayassaAAAAadu fee alssama-i kathalikayajAAalu Allahu alrrijsa AAala allatheenala yu/minoona

فمن يرد الله ان يهديه يشرح صدره للاسلام ومن يرد ان يضله يجعل صدره ضيقا حرجا كانما يصعد في السماء كذلك يجعل الله الرجس علي الذين لايؤمنون

[YA]: Those whom Allah (in His plan) willeth to guide,- He openeth their breast to Islam; those whom He willeth to leave straying,- He maketh their breast close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus doth Allah (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe.

[RK]:Whomever GOD wills to guide, He renders his chest wide open to Submission. And whomever He wills to send astray, He renders his chest intolerant and straitened, like one who climbs towards the sky. GOD thus places a curse upon those who refuse to believe.

Kitabun onzila ilayka falayakun fee sadrika harajun minhu litunthirabihi wathikra lilmu/mineena

كتاب انزل اليك فلا يكن في صدرك حرج منه لتنذر به وذكري للمؤمنين

[YA]: A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers).

[RK]:This scripture has been revealed to you - you shall not harbor doubt about it in your heart - that you may warn with it, and to provide a reminder for the believers.

WanazaAAna ma fee sudoorihimmin ghillin tajree min tahtihimu al-anharu waqalooalhamdu lillahi allathee hadanalihatha wama kunna linahtadiya lawlaan hadana Allahu laqad jaat rusulurabbina bialhaqqi wanoodoo an tilkumualjannatu oorithtumooha bima kuntum taAAmaloona

ونزعنا مافي صدورهم من غل تجري من تحتهم الانهار وقالوا الحمد لله الذي هدانا لهذا وماكنا لنهتدي لولا ان هدانا الله لقد جاءت رسل ربنا بالحق ونودوا ان تلكم الجنة اورثتموها بما كنتم تعملون

[YA]: And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury;- beneath them will be rivers flowing;- and they shall say: "Praise be to Allah, who hath guided us to this (felicity): never could we have found guidance, had it not been for the guidance of Allah: indeed it was the truth, that the messengers of our Lord brought unto us." And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the garden before you! Ye have been made its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness)."

[RK]:We will remove all jealousy from their hearts. Rivers will flow beneath them, and they will say, "GOD be praised for guiding us. We could not possibly be guided, if it were not that GOD has guided us. The messengers of our Lord did bring the truth." They will be called: "This is your Paradise. You have inherited it, in return for your works."

Ith yureekahumu Allahu fee manamikaqaleelan walaw arakahum katheeran lafashiltum walatanazaAAtumfee al-amri walakinna Allaha sallama innahuAAaleemun bithati alssudoori

اذ يريكهم الله في منامك قليلا ولو اراكهم كثيرا لفشلتم ولتنازعتم في الامر ولكن الله سلم انه عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: Remember in thy dream Allah showed them to thee as few: if He had shown them to thee as many, ye would surely have been discouraged, and ye would surely have disputed in (your) decision; but Allah saved (you): for He knoweth well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.

[RK]:GOD made them appear in your dream (O Muhammad) fewer in number. Had He made them appear more numerous, you would have failed, and you would have disputed among yourselves. But GOD saved the situation. He is Knower of the innermost thoughts.

Qatiloohum yuAAaththibhumu Allahubi-aydeekum wayukhzihim wayansurkum AAalayhim wayashfi sudooraqawmin mu/mineena

قاتلوهم يعذبهم الله بايديكم ويخزهم وينصركم عليهم ويشف صدور قوم مؤمنين

[YA]: Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers,

[RK]:You shall fight them, for GOD will punish them at your hands, humiliate them, grant you victory over them, and cool the chests of the believers.

Ya ayyuha alnnasuqad jaatkum mawAAithatun min rabbikum washifaonlima fee alssudoori wahudan warahmatunlilmu/mineena

ياايها الناس قد جاءتكم موعظة من ربكم وشفاء لما في الصدور وهدي ورحمة للمؤمنين

[YA]: O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts,- and for those who believe, a guidance and a Mercy.

[RK]:O people, enlightenment has come to you herein from your Lord, and healing for anything that troubles your hearts, and guidance, and mercy for the believers.

Ala innahum yathnoona sudoorahumliyastakhfoo minhu ala heena yastaghshoona thiyabahumyaAAlamu ma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoona innahuAAaleemun bithati alssudoori

الا انهم يثنون صدورهم ليستخفوا منه الا حين يستغشون ثيابهم يعلم مايسرون ومايعلنون انه عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: Behold! they fold up their hearts, that they may lie hid from Him! Ah even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knoweth what they conceal, and what they reveal: for He knoweth well the (inmost secrets) of the hearts.

[RK]:Indeed, they hide their innermost thoughts, as if to keep Him from knowing them. In fact, as they cover themselves with their clothes, He knows all their secrets and declarations. He knows the innermost thoughts.

الا انهم يثنون صدورهم ليستخفوا منه الا حين يستغشون ثيابهم يعلم مايسرون ومايعلنون انه عليم بذات الصدور

FalaAAallaka tarikun baAAda mayooha ilayka wada-iqun bihi sadruka anyaqooloo lawla onzila AAalayhi kanzun aw jaamaAAahu malakun innama anta natheerun waAllahuAAala kulli shay-in wakeelun

فلعلك تارك بعض مايوحي اليك وضائق به صدرك ان يقولوا لولا انزل عليه كنز او جاء معه ملك انما انت نذير والله علي كل شئ وكيل

[YA]: Perchance thou mayest (feel the inclination) to give up a part of what is revealed unto thee, and thy heart feeleth straitened lest they say, "Why is not a treasure sent down unto him, or why does not an angel come down with him?" But thou art there only to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth all affairs!

[RK]:You may wish to disregard some of that which is revealed to you, and you may be annoyed by it. Also, they may say, "How come no treasure comes down to him, or an angel?" You are only a warner; GOD controls all things.

WanazaAAna ma fee sudoorihimmin ghillin ikhwanan AAala sururin mutaqabileena

ونزعنا مافي صدورهم من غل اخوانا علي سرر متقابلين

[YA]: And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on thrones (of dignity).

[RK]:We remove all jealousy from their hearts. Like one family, they will be on adjacent furnishings.

Walaqad naAAlamu annaka yadeequ sadrukabima yaqooloona

ولقد نعلم انك يضيق صدرك بما يقولون

[YA]: We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.

[RK]:We know full well that you may be annoyed by their utterances.

Man kafara biAllahi minbaAAdi eemanihi illa man okriha waqalbuhu mutma-innunbial-eemani walakin man sharaha bialkufrisadran faAAalayhim ghadabun mina Allahiwalahum AAathabun AAatheemun

من كفر بالله من بعد ايمانه الا من اكره وقلبه مطمئن بالايمان ولكن من شرح بالكفر صدرا فعليهم غضب من الله ولهم عذاب عظيم

[YA]: Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters Unbelief,- except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in Faith - but such as open their breast to Unbelief, on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Penalty.

[RK]:Those who disbelieve in GOD, after having acquired faith, and become fully content with disbelief, have incurred wrath from GOD. The only ones to be excused are those who are forced to profess disbelief, while their hearts are full of faith.

Aw khalqan mimma yakburu fee sudoorikumfasayaqooloona man yuAAeeduna quli allathee fatarakumawwala marratin fasayunghidoona ilayka ruoosahumwayaqooloona mata huwa qul AAasa an yakoona qareeban

او خلقا مما يكبر في صدوركم فسيقولون من يعيدنا قل الذي فطركم اول مرة فسينغضون اليك رؤوسهم ويقولون متي هو قل عسي ان يكون قريبا

[YA]: "Or created matter which, in your minds, is hardest (to be raised up),- (Yet shall ye be raised up)!" then will they say: "Who will cause us to return?" Say: "He who created you first!" Then will they wag their heads towards thee, and say, "When will that be?" Say, "May be it will be quite soon!

[RK]:"Even if you turn into any kind of creation that you deem impossible." They will then say, "Who will bring us back?" Say, "The One who created you in the first place." They will then shake their heads and say, "When will that be?" Say, "It may be closer than you think."

Qala rabbi ishrah lee sadree

قال رب اشرح لي صدري

[YA]: (Moses) said: "O my Lord! expand me my breast;

[RK]:He said, "My Lord, cool my temper.

Afalam yaseeroo fee al-ardi fatakoonalahum quloobun yaAAqiloona biha aw athanunyasmaAAoona biha fa-innaha la taAAmaal-absaru walakin taAAma alquloobu allateefee alssudoori

افلم يسيروا في الارض فتكون لهم قلوب يعقلون بها او اذان يسمعون بها فانها لاتعمي الابصار ولكن تعمي القلوب التي في الصدور

[YA]: Do they not travel through the land, so that their hearts (and minds) may thus learn wisdom and their ears may thus learn to hear? Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts.

[RK]:Did they not roam the earth, then use their minds to understand, and use their ears to hear? Indeed, the real blindness is not the blindness of the eyes, but the blindness of the hearts inside the chests.

Wayadeequ sadree walayantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona

ويضيق صدري ولاينطلق لساني فارسل الي هارون

[YA]: "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.

[RK]:"I may lose my temper. My tongue gets tied; send for my brother Aaron.

Wa-inna rabbaka layaAAlamu ma tukinnusudooruhum wama yuAAlinoona

وان ربك ليعلم ماتكن صدورهم ومايعلنون

[YA]: And verily thy Lord knoweth all that their hearts do hide. As well as all that they reveal.

[RK]:Your Lord fully knows what their chests hide, and what they declare.

Walamma warada maa madyanawajada AAalayhi ommatan mina alnnasi yasqoonawawajada min doonihimu imraatayni tathoodani qalama khatbukuma qalata lanasqee hatta yusdira alrriAAaowaaboona shaykhun kabeerun

ولما ورد ماء مدين وجد عليه امة من الناس يسقون ووجد من دونهم امراتين تذودان قال ماخطبكما قالتا لانسقي حتي يصدر الرعاء وابونا شيخ كبير

[YA]: And when he arrived at the watering (place) in Madyan, he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks). He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take back (their flocks): And our father is a very old man."

[RK]:When he reached Midyan's water, he found a crowd of people watering, and noticed two women waiting on the side. He said, "What is it that you need?" They said, "We are not able to water, until the crowd disperses, and our father is an old man."

Warabbuka yaAAlamu ma tukinnu sudooruhumwama yuAAlinoona

وربك يعلم ماتكن صدورهم ومايعلنون

[YA]: And thy Lord knows all that their hearts conceal and all that they reveal.

[RK]:Your Lord knows the innermost thoughts hidden in their chests, as well as everything they declare.

Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amannabiAllahi fa-itha oothiya fee AllahijaAAala fitnata alnnasi kaAAathabi Allahiwala-in jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqoolunna innakunna maAAakum awa laysa Allahu bi-aAAlama bimafee sudoori alAAalameena

ومن الناس من يقول امنا بالله فاذا اوذي في الله جعل فتنة الناس كعذاب الله ولئن جاء نصر من ربك ليقولن انا كنا معكم اوليس الله باعلم بما في صدور العالمين

[YA]: Then there are among men such as say, "We believe in Allah"; but when they suffer affliction in (the cause of) Allah, they treat men's oppression as if it were the Wrath of Allah! And if help comes (to thee) from thy Lord, they are sure to say, "We have (always) been with you!" Does not Allah know best all that is in the hearts of all creation?

[RK]:Among the people there are those who say, "We believe in GOD," but as soon as they suffer any hardship because of GOD, they equate the people's persecution with GOD's retribution. But if blessings from your Lord come your way, they say, "We were with you." Is GOD not fully aware of the people's innermost thoughts?

Bal huwa ayatun bayyinatunfee sudoori allatheena ootoo alAAilma wamayajhadu bi-ayatina illa alththalimoona

بل هو ايات بينات في صدور الذين اوتوا العلم ومايجحد باياتنا الا الظالمون

[YA]: Nay, here are Signs self-evident in the hearts of those endowed with knowledge: and none but the unjust reject Our Signs.

[RK]:In fact, these revelations are clear in the chests of those who possess knowledge. Only the wicked will disregard our revelations.

Waman kafara fala yahzunkakufruhu ilayna marjiAAuhum fanunabbi-ohum bimaAAamiloo inna Allaha AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

ومن كفر فلا يحزنك كفره الينا مرجعهم فننبئهم بما عملوا ان الله عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: But if any reject Faith, let not his rejection grieve thee: to Us is their return, and We shall tell them the truth of their deeds: for Allah knows well all that is in (men's) hearts.

[RK]:As for those who disbelieve, do not be saddened by their disbelief. To us is their ultimate return, then we will inform them of everything they had done. GOD is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

Inna Allaha AAalimu ghaybi alssamawatiwaal-ardi innahu AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

ان الله عالم غيب السماوات والارض انه عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: Verily Allah knows (all) the hidden things of the heavens and the earth: verily He has full knowledge of all that is in (men's) hearts.

[RK]:GOD is the Knower of the future of the heavens and the earth. He is the Knower of all innermost thoughts.

In takfuroo fa-inna Allaha ghaniyyunAAankum wala yarda liAAibadihi alkufra wa-intashkuroo yardahu lakum wala taziru waziratunwizra okhra thumma ila rabbikum marjiAAukumfayunabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloona innahu AAaleemun bithatialssudoori

ان تكفروا فان الله غني عنكم ولايرضي لعباده الكفر وان تشكروا يرضه لكم ولاتزر وازرة وزر اخري ثم الي ربكم مرجعكم فينبئكم بما كنتم تعملون انه عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: If ye reject (Allah), Truly Allah hath no need of you; but He liketh not ingratitude from His servants: if ye are grateful, He is pleased with you. No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. In the end, to your Lord is your Return, when He will tell you the truth of all that ye did (in this life). for He knoweth well all that is in (men's) hearts.

[RK]:If you disbelieve, GOD does not need anyone. But He dislikes to see His servants make the wrong decision. If you decide to be appreciative, He is pleased for you. No soul bears the sins of any other soul. Ultimately, to your Lord is your return, then He will inform you of everything you had done. He is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

Afaman sharaha Allahu sadrahulil-islami fahuwa AAala noorin min rabbihi fawaylunlilqasiyati quloobuhum min thikri Allahi ola-ikafee dalalin mubeenin

افمن شرح الله صدره للاسلام فهو علي نور من ربه فويل للقاسية قلوبهم من ذكر الله اولئك في ضلال مبين

[YA]: Is one whose heart Allah has opened to Islam, so that he has received Enlightenment from Allah, (no better than one hard-hearted)? Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against celebrating the praises of Allah! they are manifestly wandering (in error)!

[RK]:If GOD renders one's heart content with Submission, he will be following a light from his Lord. Therefore, woe to those whose hearts are hardened against GOD's message; they have gone far astray.

يعلم خائنة الاعين وماتخفي الصدور

[YA]: (Allah) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes, and all that the hearts (of men) conceal.

[RK]:He is fully aware of what the eyes cannot see, and everything that the minds conceal.

ان الذين يجادلون في ايات الله بغير سلطان اتاهم ان في صدورهم الا كبر ماهم ببالغيه فاستعذ بالله انه هو السميع البصير

[YA]: Those who dispute about the signs of Allah without any authority bestowed on them,- there is nothing in their breasts but (the quest of) greatness, which they shall never attain to: seek refuge, then, in Allah: It is He Who hears and sees (all things).

[RK]:Surely, those who argue against GOD's revelations without proof are exposing the arrogance that is hidden inside their chests, and they are not even aware of it. Therefore, seek refuge in GOD; He is the Hearer, the Seer.

ولكم فيها منافع ولتبلغوا عليها حاجة في صدوركم وعليها وعلي الفلك تحملون

[YA]: And there are (other) advantages in them for you (besides); that ye may through them attain to any need (there may be) in your hearts; and on them and on ships ye are carried.

[RK]:They also provide you with additional benefits that satisfy many of your needs. On them, as well as on the ships, you are carried.

Am yaqooloona iftara AAala Allahikathiban fa-in yasha-i Allahu yakhtim AAalaqalbika wayamhu Allahu albatila wayuhiqqualhaqqa bikalimatihi innahu AAaleemun bithatialssudoori

ام يقولون افتري علي الله كذبا فان يشا الله يختم علي قلبك ويمح الله الباطل ويحق الحق بكلماته انه عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: What! Do they say, "He has forged a falsehood against Allah"? But if Allah willed, He could seal up thy heart. And Allah blots out Vanity, and proves the Truth by His Words. For He knows well the secrets of all hearts.

[RK]:Are they saying, "He (Rashad) has fabricated lies about GOD!"? If GOD willed, He could have sealed your mind, but GOD erases the falsehood and affirms the truth with His words. He is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

يولج الليل في النهار ويولج النهار في الليل وهو عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: He merges Night into Day, and He merges Day into Night; and He has full knowledge of the secrets of (all) hearts.

[RK]:He merges the night into the day, and merges the day into the night. He is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

Waallatheena tabawwaoo alddarawaal-eemana min qablihim yuhibboona man hajarailayhim wala yajidoona fee sudoorihim hajatanmimma ootoo wayu/thiroona AAala anfusihim walaw kanabihim khasasatun waman yooqa shuhha nafsihi faola-ikahumu almuflihoona

والذين تبوؤوا الدار والايمان من قبلهم يحبون من هاجر اليهم ولايجدون في صدورهم حاجة مما اوتوا ويؤثرون علي انفسهم ولو كان بهم خصاصة ومن يوق شح نفسه فاولئك هم المفلحون

[YA]: But those who before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith,- show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot). And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.

[RK]:As for those who provided them with a home and a refuge, and were believers before them, they love those who immigrated to them, and find no hesitation in their hearts in helping them. In fact, they readily give them priority over themselves, even when they themselves need what they give away. Indeed, those who overcome their natural stinginess are the successful ones.

Laantum ashaddu rahbatan fee sudoorihimmina Allahi thalika bi-annahum qawmun layafqahoona

لانتم اشد رهبة في صدورهم من الله ذلك بانهم قوم لايفقهون

[YA]: Of a truth ye are stronger (than they) because of the terror in their hearts, (sent) by Allah. This is because they are men devoid of understanding.

[RK]:Indeed, you strike more terror in their hearts than their fear of GOD. This is because they are people who do not comprehend.

يعلم مافي السماوات والارض ويعلم ماتسرون وماتعلنون والله عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: He knows what is in the heavens and on earth; and He knows what ye conceal and what ye reveal: yea, Allah knows well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.

[RK]:He knows everything in the heavens and the earth, and He knows everything you conceal and everything you declare. GOD is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

واسروا قولكم او اجهروا به انه عليم بذات الصدور

[YA]: And whether ye hide your word or publish it, He certainly has (full) knowledge, of the secrets of (all) hearts.

[RK]:Whether you keep your utterances secret, or declare them, He is fully aware of the innermost thoughts.

يومئذ يصدر الناس اشتاتا ليروا اعمالهم

[YA]: On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done).

[RK]:On that day, the people will issue from every direction, to be shown their works.

[YA]: And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest-

[YA]: (The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind,-
