قالوا سبحانك لاعلم لنا الا ماعلمتنا انك انت العليم الحكيم

[YA]: They said: "Glory to Thee, of knowledge We have none, save what Thou Hast taught us: In truth it is Thou Who art perfect in knowledge and wisdom."

[RK]:They said, "Be You glorified, we have no knowledge, except that which You have taught us. You are the Omniscient, Most Wise."

Waqulna ya adamu oskunanta wazawjuka aljannata wakula minha raghadan haythushi/tuma wala taqraba hathihi alshshajaratafatakoona mina alththalimeena

وقلنا ياادم اسكن انت وزوجك الجنة وكلا منها رغدا حيث شئتما ولاتقربا هذه الشجرة فتكونا من الظالمين

[YA]: We said: "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden; and eat of the bountiful things therein as (where and when) ye will; but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression."

[RK]:We said, "O Adam, live with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom generously, as you please, but do not approach this tree, lest you sin."

Wa-ith yarfaAAu ibraheemualqawaAAida mina albayti wa-ismaAAeelu rabbanataqabbal minna innaka anta alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

واذ يرفع ابراهيم القواعد من البيت واسماعيل ربنا تقبل منا انك انت السميع العليم

[YA]: And remember Abraham and Isma'il raised the foundations of the House (With this prayer): "Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us: For Thou art the All-Hearing, the All-knowing.

[RK]:As Abraham raised the foundations of the shrine, together with Ismail (they prayed): "Our Lord, accept this from us. You are the Hearer, the Omniscient.

Rabbana waijAAalnamuslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatanmuslimatan laka waarina manasikana watubAAalayna innaka anta alttawwabu alrraheemu

ربنا واجعلنا مسلمين لك ومن ذريتنا امة مسلمة لك وارنا مناسكنا وتب علينا انك انت التواب الرحيم

[YA]: "Our Lord! make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will), and of our progeny a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will); and show us our place for the celebration of (due) rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy); for Thou art the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

[RK]:"Our Lord, make us submitters to You, and from our descendants let there be a community of submitters to You. Teach us the rites of our religion, and redeem us. You are the Redeemer, Most Merciful.

Rabbana waibAAath feehimrasoolan minhum yatloo AAalayhim ayatikawayuAAallimuhumu alkitaba waalhikmatawayuzakkeehim innaka anta alAAazeezu alhakeemu

ربنا وابعث فيهم رسولا منهم يتلو عليهم اياتك ويعلمهم الكتاب والحكمة ويزكيهم انك انت العزيز الحكيم

[YA]: "Our Lord! send amongst them a Messenger of their own, who shall rehearse Thy Signs to them and instruct them in scripture and wisdom, and sanctify them: For Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

[RK]:"Our Lord, and raise among them a messenger to recite to them Your revelations, teach them the scripture and wisdom, and purify them. You are the Almighty, Most Wise."

Wala-in atayta allatheena ootooalkitaba bikulli ayatin ma tabiAAooqiblataka wama anta bitabiAAin qiblatahum wamabaAAduhum bitabiAAin qiblata baAAdinwala-ini ittabaAAta ahwaahum min baAAdi ma jaakamina alAAilmi innaka ithan lamina alththalimeena

ولئن اتيت الذين اوتوا الكتاب بكل اية ماتبعوا قبلتك وماانت بتابع قبلتهم ومابعضهم بتابع قبلة بعض ولئن اتبعت اهواءهم من بعد ماجاءك من العلم انك اذا لمن الظالمين

[YA]: Even if thou wert to bring to the people of the Book all the Signs (together), they would not follow Thy Qibla; nor art thou going to follow their Qibla; nor indeed will they follow each other's Qibla. If thou after the knowledge hath reached thee, Wert to follow their (vain) desires,-then wert thou Indeed (clearly) in the wrong.

[RK]:Even if you show the followers of the scripture every kind of miracle, they will not follow your Qiblah. Nor shall you follow their Qiblah. They do not even follow each others' Qiblah. If you acquiesce to their wishes, after the knowledge that has come to you, you will belong with the transgressors.

La yukallifu Allahu nafsanilla wusAAaha laha ma kasabatwaAAalayha ma iktasabat rabbana latu-akhithna in naseena aw akhta/narabbana wala tahmil AAalayna isrankama hamaltahu AAala allatheena minqablina rabbana wala tuhammilnama la taqata lana bihi waoAAfuAAanna waighfir lana wairhamnaanta mawlana faonsurna AAalaalqawmi alkafireena

لايكلف الله نفسا الا وسعها لها ماكسبت وعليها مااكتسبت ربنا لاتؤاخذنا ان نسينا او اخطانا ربنا ولاتحمل علينا اصرا كما حملته علي الذين من قبلنا ربنا ولاتحملنا مالاطاقة لنا به واعف عنا واغفر لنا وارحمنا انت مولانا فانصرنا علي القوم الكافرين

[YA]: On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."

[RK]:GOD never burdens a soul beyond its means: to its credit is what it earns, and against it is what it commits. "Our Lord, do not condemn us if we forget or make mistakes. Our Lord, and protect us from blaspheming against You, like those before us have done. Our Lord, protect us from sinning until it becomes too late for us to repent. Pardon us and forgive us. You are our Lord and Master. Grant us victory over the disbelieving people."

Rabbana la tuzigh quloobanabaAAda ith hadaytana wahab lana min ladunkarahmatan innaka anta alwahhabu

ربنا لاتزغ قلوبنا بعد اذ هديتنا وهب لنا من لدنك رحمة انك انت الوهاب

[YA]: "Our Lord!" (they say), "Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure.

[RK]:"Our Lord, let not our hearts waver, now that You have guided us. Shower us with Your mercy; You are the Grantor.

Ith qalati imraatu AAimranarabbi innee nathartu laka ma fee batnee muharraranfataqabbal minnee innaka anta alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

اذ قالت امراة عمران رب اني نذرت لك مافي بطني محررا فتقبل مني انك انت السميع العليم

[YA]: Behold! a woman of 'Imran said: "O my Lord! I do dedicate unto Thee what is in my womb for Thy special service: So accept this of me: For Thou hearest and knowest all things."

[RK]:The wife of Amram said, "My Lord, I have dedicated (the baby) in my belly to You, totally, so accept from me. You are Hearer, Omniscient."

Qaloo ya moosa innalan nadkhulaha abadan ma damoo feehafa-ithhab anta warabbuka faqatila innahahuna qaAAidoona

قالوا ياموسي انا لن ندخلها ابدا ماداموا فيها فاذهب انت وربك فقاتلا انا هاهنا قاعدون

[YA]: They said: "O Moses! while they remain there, never shall we be able to enter, to the end of time. Go thou, and thy Lord, and fight ye two, while we sit here (and watch)."

[RK]:They said, "O Moses, we will never enter it, so long as they are in it. Therefore, go - you and your Lord - and fight. We are sitting right here."

Yawma yajmaAAu Allahu alrrusulafayaqoolu matha ojibtum qaloo la AAilma lanainnaka anta AAallamu alghuyoobi

يوم يجمع الله الرسل فيقول ماذا اجبتم قالوا لاعلم لنا انك انت علام الغيوب

[YA]: One day will Allah gather the messengers together, and ask: "What was the response ye received (from men to your teaching)?" They will say: "We have no knowledge: it is Thou Who knowest in full all that is hidden."

[RK]:The day will come when GOD will summon the messengers and ask them, "How was the response to you?" They will say, "We have no knowledge. You are the Knower of all secrets."

Qala AAeesa ibnu maryama allahummarabbana anzil AAalayna ma-idatan mina alssama-itakoonu lana AAeedan li-awwalina waakhirinawaayatan minka waorzuqna waanta khayru alrraziqeena

قال عيسي ابن مريم اللهم ربنا انزل علينا مائدة من السماء تكون لنا عيدا لاولنا واخرنا واية منك وارزقنا وانت خير الرازقين

[YA]: Said Jesus the son of Mary: "O Allah our Lord! Send us from heaven a table set (with viands), that there may be for us - for the first and the last of us - a solemn festival and a sign from thee; and provide for our sustenance, for thou art the best Sustainer (of our needs)."

[RK]:Said Jesus, the son of Mary, "Our god, our Lord, send down to us a feast from the sky. Let it bring plenty for each and every one of us, and a sign from You. Provide for us; You are the best Provider."

Wa-ith qala Allahu yaAAeesa ibna maryama aanta qulta lilnnasiittakhithoonee waommiya ilahayni min dooni Allahiqala subhanaka ma yakoonu lee an aqoola malaysa lee bihaqqin in kuntu qultuhu faqad AAalimtahutaAAlamu ma fee nafsee wala aAAlamu ma feenafsika innaka anta AAallamu alghuyoobi

واذ قال الله ياعيسي ابن مريم ءانت قلت للناس اتخذوني وامي الهين من دون الله قال سبحانك مايكون لي ان اقول ماليس لي بحق ان كنت قلته فقد علمته تعلم مافي نفسي ولااعلم مافي نفسك انك انت علام الغيوب

[YA]: And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

[RK]:GOD will say, "O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to the people, `Make me and my mother idols beside GOD?' " He will say, "Be You glorified. I could not utter what was not right. Had I said it, You already would have known it. You know my thoughts, and I do not know Your thoughts. You know all the secrets.

Ma qultu lahum illa maamartanee bihi ani oAAbudoo Allaha rabbee warabbakumwakuntu AAalayhim shaheedan ma dumtu feehim falammatawaffaytanee kunta anta alrraqeeba AAalayhim waanta AAalakulli shay-in shaheedun

ماقلت لهم الا ماامرتني به ان اعبدوا الله ربي وربكم وكنت عليهم شهيدا مادمت فيهم فلما توفيتني كنت انت الرقيب عليهم وانت علي كل شئ شهيد

[YA]: "Never said I to them aught except what Thou didst command me to say, to wit, 'worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord'; and I was a witness over them whilst I dwelt amongst them; when Thou didst take me up Thou wast the Watcher over them, and Thou art a witness to all things.

[RK]:"I told them only what You commanded me to say, that: `You shall worship GOD, my Lord and your Lord.' I was a witness among them for as long as I lived with them. When You terminated my life on earth, You became the Watcher over them. You witness all things.

In tuAAaththibhum fa-innahum AAibadukawa-in taghfir lahum fa-innaka anta alAAazeezu alhakeemu

ان تعذبهم فانهم عبادك وان تغفر لهم فانك انت العزيز الحكيم

[YA]: "If Thou dost punish them, they are Thy servant: If Thou dost forgive them, Thou art the Exalted in power, the Wise."

[RK]:"If You punish them, they are Your constituents. If You forgive them, You are the Almighty, Most Wise."

Walaw shaa Allahu maashrakoo wama jaAAalnaka AAalayhim hafeethanwama anta AAalayhim biwakeelin

ولو شاء الله مااشركوا وماجعلناك عليهم حفيظا وماانت عليهم بوكيل

[YA]: If it had been Allah's plan, they would not have taken false gods: but We made thee not one to watch over their doings, nor art thou set over them to dispose of their affairs.

[RK]:Had GOD willed, they would not have worshipped idols. We did not appoint you as their guardian, nor are you their advocate.

Waya adamu oskun antawazawjuka aljannata fakula min haythu shi/tumawala taqraba hathihi alshshajaratafatakoona mina alththalimeena

وياادم اسكن انت وزوجك الجنة فكلا من حيث شئتما ولاتقربا هذه الشجرة فتكونا من الظالمين

[YA]: "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression."

[RK]:"As for you, Adam, dwell with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom as you please, but do not approach this one tree, lest you fall in sin."

Qadi iftarayna AAala Allahikathiban in AAudna fee millatikum baAAda ithnajjana Allahu minha wamayakoonu lana an naAAooda feeha illa an yashaaAllahu rabbuna wasiAAa rabbuna kulla shay-inAAilman AAala Allahi tawakkalna rabbanaiftah baynana wabayna qawmina bialhaqqiwaanta khayru alfatiheena

قد افترينا علي الله كذبا ان عدنا في ملتكم بعد اذ نجانا الله منها ومايكون لنا ان نعود فيها الا ان يشاء الله ربنا وسع ربنا كل شئ علما علي الله توكلنا ربنا افتح بيننا وبين قومنا بالحق وانت خير الفاتحين

[YA]: "We should indeed invent a lie against Allah, if we returned to your ways after Allah hath rescued us therefrom; nor could we by any manner of means return thereto unless it be as in the will and plan of Allah, Our Lord. Our Lord can reach out to the utmost recesses of things by His knowledge. In the Allah is our trust. our Lord! decide Thou between us and our people in truth, for Thou art the best to decide."

[RK]:"We would be blaspheming against GOD if we reverted to your religion after GOD has saved us from it. How could we revert back to it against the will of GOD our Lord? Our Lord's knowledge encompasses all things. We have put our trust in GOD. Our Lord, grant us a decisive victory over our people. You are the best supporter."

Qala rabbi ighfir lee wali-akheewaadkhilna fee rahmatika waanta arhamu alrrahimeena

قال رب اغفر لي ولاخي وادخلنا في رحمتك وانت ارحم الراحمين

[YA]: Moses prayed: "O my Lord! forgive me and my brother! admit us to Thy mercy! for Thou art the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!"

[RK]:(Moses) said, "My Lord, forgive me and my brother, and admit us into Your mercy. Of all the merciful ones, You are the Most Merciful."

Waikhtara moosaqawmahu sabAAeena rajulan limeeqatina falammaakhathat-humu alrrajfatu qala rabbi lawshi/ta ahlaktahum min qablu wa-iyyaya atuhlikunabima faAAala alssufahao minna in hiyailla fitnatuka tudillu biha man tashaowatahdee man tashao anta waliyyuna faighfirlana wairhamna waanta khayru alghafireena

واختار موسي قومه سبعين رجلا لميقاتنا فلما اخذتهم الرجفة قال رب لو شئت اهلكتهم من قبل واياي اتهلكنا بما فعل السفهاء منا ان هي الا فتنتك تضل بها من تشاء وتهدي من تشاء انت ولينا فاغفر لنا وارحمنا وانت خير الغافرين

[YA]: And Moses chose seventy of his people for Our place of meeting: when they were seized with violent quaking, he prayed: "O my Lord! if it had been Thy will Thou couldst have destroyed, long before, both them and me: wouldst Thou destroy us for the deeds of the foolish ones among us? this is no more than Thy trial: by it Thou causest whom Thou wilt to stray, and Thou leadest whom Thou wilt into the right path. Thou art our Protector: so forgive us and give us Thy mercy; for Thou art the best of those who forgive.

[RK]:Moses then selected seventy men from among his people, to come to our appointed audience. When the quake shook them, he said, "My Lord, You could have annihilated them in the past, together with me, if You so willed. Would You annihilate us for the deeds of those among us who are foolish? This must be the test that You have instituted for us. With it, You condemn whomever You will, and guide whomever You will. You are our Lord and Master, so forgive us, shower us with Your mercy; You are the best Forgiver.

Wama kana AllahuliyuAAaththibahum waanta feehim wama kanaAllahu muAAaththibahum wahum yastaghfiroona

وماكان الله ليعذبهم وانت فيهم وماكان الله معذبهم وهم يستغفرون

[YA]: But Allah was not going to send them a penalty whilst thou wast amongst them; nor was He going to send it whilst they could ask for pardon.

[RK]:However, GOD is not to punish them while you are in their midst; GOD is not to punish them while they are seeking forgiveness.

Waminhum man yastamiAAoona ilayka afaantatusmiAAu alssumma walaw kanoo layaAAqiloona

ومنهم من يستمعون اليك افانت تسمع الصم ولو كانوا لايعقلون

[YA]: Among them are some who (pretend to) listen to thee: But canst thou make the deaf to hear,- even though they are without understanding?

[RK]:Some of them listen to you, but can you make the deaf hear, even though they cannot understand?

Waminhum man yanthuru ilaykaafaanta tahdee alAAumya walaw kanoo la yubsiroona

ومنهم من ينظر اليك افانت تهدي العمي ولو كانوا لايبصرون

[YA]: And among them are some who look at thee: but canst thou guide the blind,- even though they will not see?

[RK]:Some of them look at you, but can you guide the blind, even though they do not see?

Walaw shaa rabbuka laamana manfee al-ardi kulluhum jameeAAan afaanta tukrihu alnnasahatta yakoonoo mu/mineena

ولو شاء ربك لامن من في الارض كلهم جميعا افانت تكره الناس حتي يكونوا مؤمنين

[YA]: If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!

[RK]:Had your Lord willed, all the people on earth would have believed. Do you want to force the people to become believers?

FalaAAallaka tarikun baAAda mayooha ilayka wada-iqun bihi sadruka anyaqooloo lawla onzila AAalayhi kanzun aw jaamaAAahu malakun innama anta natheerun waAllahuAAala kulli shay-in wakeelun

فلعلك تارك بعض مايوحي اليك وضائق به صدرك ان يقولوا لولا انزل عليه كنز او جاء معه ملك انما انت نذير والله علي كل شئ وكيل

[YA]: Perchance thou mayest (feel the inclination) to give up a part of what is revealed unto thee, and thy heart feeleth straitened lest they say, "Why is not a treasure sent down unto him, or why does not an angel come down with him?" But thou art there only to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth all affairs!

[RK]:You may wish to disregard some of that which is revealed to you, and you may be annoyed by it. Also, they may say, "How come no treasure comes down to him, or an angel?" You are only a warner; GOD controls all things.

Wanada noohun rabbahufaqala rabbi inna ibnee min ahlee wa-inna waAAdaka alhaqquwaanta ahkamu alhakimeena

ونادي نوح ربه فقال رب ان ابني من اهلي وان وعدك الحق وانت احكم الحاكمين

[YA]: And Noah called upon his Lord, and said: "O my Lord! surely my son is of my family! and Thy promise is true, and Thou art the justest of Judges!"

[RK]:Noah implored his Lord: "My Lord, my son is a member of my family, and Your promise is the truth. You are the wisest of the wise."

Tilka min anba-i alghaybi nooheehailayka ma kunta taAAlamuha anta wala qawmukamin qabli hatha faisbir inna alAAaqibatalilmuttaqeena

تلك من انباء الغيب نوحيها اليك ماكنت تعلمها انت ولاقومك من قبل هذا فاصبر ان العاقبة للمتقين

[YA]: Such are some of the stories of the unseen, which We have revealed unto thee: before this, neither thou nor thy people knew them. So persevere patiently: for the End is for those who are righteous.

[RK]:This is news from the past that we reveal to you. You had no knowledge about them - neither you, nor your people - before this. Therefore, be patient. The ultimate victory belongs to the righteous.

Qaloo ya shuAAaybu asalatukata/muruka an natruka ma yaAAbudu abaonaaw an nafAAala fee amwalina ma nashaoinnaka laanta alhaleemu alrrasheedu

قالوا ياشعيب اصلاتك تامرك ان نترك مايعبد اباؤنا او ان نفعل في اموالنا مانشاء انك لانت الحليم الرشيد

[YA]: They said: "O Shu'aib! Does thy (religion of) prayer command thee that we leave off the worship which our fathers practised, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? truly, thou art the one that forbeareth with faults and is right-minded!"

[RK]:They said, "O Shu`aib, does your religion dictate upon you that we must abandon our parents' religion, or running our businesses in any manner we choose? Surely, you are known for being clement, wise."

Qaloo ya shuAAaybu manafqahu katheeran mimma taqoolu wa-inna lanarakafeena daAAeefan walawla rahtukalarajamnaka wama anta AAalayna biAAazeezin

قالوا ياشعيب مانفقه كثيرا مما تقول وانا لنراك فينا ضعيفا ولولا رهطك لرجمناك وماانت علينا بعزيز

[YA]: They said: "O Shu'aib! much of what thou sayest we do not understand! In fact among us we see that thou hast no strength! Were it not for thy family, we should certainly have stoned thee! for thou hast among us no great position!"

[RK]:They said, "O Shu`aib, we do not comprehend many of the things you are telling us, and we see that you are powerless among us. If it were not for your tribe, we would have stoned you. You have no value for us."

Qaloo ya abanainna thahabna nastabiqu wataraknayoosufa AAinda mataAAina faakalahu alththi/buwama anta bimu/minin lana walaw kunna sadiqeena

قالوا ياابانا انا ذهبنا نستبق وتركنا يوسف عند متاعنا فاكله الذئب وماانت بمؤمن لنا ولو كنا صادقين

[YA]: They said: "O our father! We went racing with one another, and left Joseph with our things; and the wolf devoured him.... But thou wilt never believe us even though we tell the truth."

[RK]:They said, "Our father, we went racing with each other, leaving Joseph with our equipment, and the wolf devoured him. You will never believe us, even if we were telling the truth."

Qaloo a-innaka laanta yoosufa qalaana yoosufu wahatha akhee qad manna AllahuAAalayna innahu man yattaqi wayasbir fa-inna Allahala yudeeAAu ajra almuhsineena

قالوا ءانك لانت يوسف قال انا يوسف وهذا اخي قد من الله علينا انه من يتق ويصبر فان الله لايضيع اجر المحسنين

[YA]: They said: "Art thou indeed Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother: Allah has indeed been gracious to us (all): behold, he that is righteous and patient,- never will Allah suffer the reward to be lost, of those who do right."

[RK]:They said, "You must be Joseph." He said, "I am Joseph, and here is my brother. GOD has blessed us. That is because if one leads a righteous life, and steadfastly perseveres, GOD never fails to reward the righteous."

Rabbi qad ataytanee mina almulkiwaAAallamtanee min ta/weeli al-ahadeethi fatira alssamawatiwaal-ardi anta waliyyee fee alddunyawaal-akhirati tawaffanee musliman waalhiqneebialssaliheena

رب قد اتيتني من الملك وعلمتني من تاويل الاحاديث فاطر السماوات والارض انت ولي في الدنيا والاخرة توفني مسلما والحقني بالصالحين

[YA]: "O my Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on me some power, and taught me something of the interpretation of dreams and events,- O Thou Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Take Thou my soul (at death) as one submitting to Thy will (as a Muslim), and unite me with the righteous."

[RK]:"My Lord, You have given me kingship and taught me the interpretation of dreams. Initiator of the heavens and the earth; You are my Lord and Master in this life and in the Hereafter. Let me die as a submitter, and count me with the righteous."

Wayaqoolu allatheena kafaroo lawlaonzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi innama anta munthirunwalikulli qawmin hadin

ويقول الذين كفروا لولا انزل عليه اية من ربه انما انت منذر ولكل قوم هاد

[YA]: And the Unbelievers say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" But thou art truly a warner, and to every people a guide.

[RK]:Those who disbelieved say, "If only a miracle could come down to him from his Lord (we will then believe)." You are simply a warner - every community receives a guiding teacher.

Wa-itha baddalna ayatanmakana ayatin waAllahu aAAlamu bimayunazzilu qaloo innama anta muftarin bal aktharuhumla yaAAlamoona

واذا بدلنا اية مكان اية والله اعلم بما ينزل قالوا انما انت مفتر بل اكثرهم لايعلمون

[YA]: When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),- they say, "Thou art but a forger": but most of them understand not.

[RK]:When we substitute one revelation in place of another, and GOD is fully aware of what He reveals, they say, "You made this up!" Indeed, most of them do not know.

قال اراغب انت عن الهتي ياابراهيم لئن لم تنته لارجمنك واهجرني مليا

[YA]: (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!"

[RK]:He said, "Have you forsaken my gods, O Abraham? Unless you stop, I will stone you. Leave me alone."

اذهب انت واخوك باياتي ولاتنيا في ذكري

[YA]: "Go, thou and thy brother, with My Signs, and slacken not, either of you, in keeping Me in remembrance.

[RK]:"Go with your brother, supported by My signs, and do not waver in remembering Me.

فلناتينك بسحر مثله فاجعل بيننا وبينك موعدا لانخلفه نحن ولاانت مكانا سوي

[YA]: "But we can surely produce magic to match thine! So make a tryst between us and thee, which we shall not fail to keep - neither we nor thou - in a place where both shall have even chances."

[RK]:"We will surely show you similar magic. Therefore, set an appointment that neither we, nor you will violate; in a neutral place."

وايوب اذ نادي ربه اني مسني الضر وانت ارحم الراحمين

[YA]: And (remember) Job, when He cried to his Lord, "Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful."

[RK]:And Job implored his Lord: "Adversity has befallen me, and, of all the merciful ones, You are the Most Merciful."

وذا النون اذ ذهب مغاضبا فظن ان لن نقدر عليه فنادي في الظلمات ان لا اله الا انت سبحانك اني كنت من الظالمين

[YA]: And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the deptHs of darkness, "There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong!"

[RK]:And Zan-Noon (Jonah, "the one with an `N' in his name"), abandoned his mission in protest, thinking that we could not control him. He ended up imploring from the darkness (of the big fish's belly): "There is no god other than You. Be You glorified. I have committed a gross sin."

Wazakariyya ith nadarabbahu rabbi la tatharnee fardan waanta khayru alwaritheena

وزكريا اذ نادي ربه رب لاتذرني فردا وانت خير الوارثين

[YA]: And (remember) Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: "O my Lord! leave me not without offspring, though thou art the best of inheritors."

[RK]:And Zachariah implored his Lord: "My Lord, do not keep me without an heir, though You are the best inheritor."

فاذا استويت انت ومن معك علي الفلك فقل الحمد لله الذي نجانا من القوم الظالمين

[YA]: And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong."

[RK]:"Once you are settled, together with those who are with you, on the watercraft, you shall say, `Praise GOD for saving us from the evil people.'

Waqul rabbi anzilnee munzalan mubarakanwaanta khayru almunzileena

وقل رب انزلني منزلا مباركا وانت خير المنزلين

[YA]: And say: "O my Lord! enable me to disembark with thy blessing: for Thou art the Best to enable (us) to disembark."

[RK]:"And say, `My Lord, let me disembark onto a blessed location; You are the best deliverer.' "

انه كان فريق من عبادي يقولون ربنا امنا فاغفر لنا وارحمنا وانت خير الراحمين

[YA]: "A part of My servants there was, who used to pray 'our Lord! we believe; then do Thou forgive us, and have mercy upon us: For Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"

[RK]:"A group of My servants used to say, `Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and shower us with mercy. Of all the merciful ones, You are the Most Merciful.'

Waqul rabbi ighfir wairhamwaanta khayru alrrahimeena

وقل رب اغفر وارحم وانت خير الراحمين

[YA]: So say: "O my Lord! grant Thou forgiveness and mercy for Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"

[RK]:Say, "My Lord, shower us with forgiveness and mercy. Of all the merciful ones, You are the Most Merciful."
