Waqulna ya adamu oskunanta wazawjuka aljannata wakula minha raghadan haythushi/tuma wala taqraba hathihi alshshajaratafatakoona mina alththalimeena

وقلنا ياادم اسكن انت وزوجك الجنة وكلا منها رغدا حيث شئتما ولاتقربا هذه الشجرة فتكونا من الظالمين

[YA]: We said: "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden; and eat of the bountiful things therein as (where and when) ye will; but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression."

[RK]:We said, "O Adam, live with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom generously, as you please, but do not approach this tree, lest you sin."

Fala warabbika la yu/minoona hattayuhakkimooka feema shajara baynahum thumma layajidoo fee anfusihim harajan mimma qadaytawayusallimoo tasleeman

فلا وربك لايؤمنون حتي يحكموك فيما شجر بينهم ثم لايجدوا في انفسهم حرجا مما قضيت ويسلموا تسليما

[YA]: But no, by the Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction.

[RK]:Never indeed, by your Lord; they are not believers unless they come to you to judge in their disputes, then find no hesitation in their hearts whatsoever in accepting your judgment. They must submit a total submission.

وياادم اسكن انت وزوجك الجنة فكلا من حيث شئتما ولاتقربا هذه الشجرة فتكونا من الظالمين

[YA]: "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression."

[RK]:"As for you, Adam, dwell with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom as you please, but do not approach this one tree, lest you fall in sin."

Fawaswasa lahuma alshshaytanuliyubdiya lahuma ma wooriya AAanhuma minsaw-atihima waqala ma nahakumarabbukuma AAan hathihi alshshajarati illaan takoona malakayni aw takoona mina alkhalideena

فوسوس لهما الشيطان ليبدي لهما ماوري عنهما من سواتهما وقال مانهاكما ربكما عن هذه الشجرةالا ان تكونا ملكين او تكونا من الخالدين

[YA]: Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: "Your Lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever."

[RK]:The devil whispered to them, in order to reveal their bodies, which were invisible to them. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you from this tree, except to prevent you from becoming angels, and from attaining eternal existence."

Fadallahuma bighuroorin falammathaqa alshshajarata badat lahuma saw-atuhumawatafiqa yakhsifani AAalayhimamin waraqi aljannati wanadahuma rabbuhumaalam anhakuma AAan tilkuma alshshajaratiwaaqul lakuma inna alshshaytana lakumaAAaduwwun mubeenun

فدلاهما بغرور فلما ذاقا الشجرة بدت لهما سواتهما وطفقا يخصفان عليهما من ورق الجنة وناداهما ربهما الم انهكما عن تلكما الشجرة واقل لكما ان الشيطان لكما عدو مبين

[YA]: So by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tasted of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies. And their Lord called unto them: "Did I not forbid you that tree, and tell you that Satan was an avowed enemy unto you?"

[RK]:He thus duped them with lies. As soon as they tasted the tree, their bodies became visible to them, and they tried to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise. Their Lord called upon them: "Did I not enjoin you from that tree, and warn you that the devil is your most ardent enemy?"

Alam tara kayfa daraba Allahumathalan kalimatan tayyibatan kashajaratin tayyibatinasluha thabitun wafarAAuha fee alssama/-i

الم تر كيف ضرب الله مثلا كلمة طيبة كشجرة طيبة اصلها ثابت وفرعها في السماء

[YA]: Seest thou not how Allah sets forth a parable? - A goodly word like a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the heavens,- of its Lord. So Allah sets forth parables for men, in order that they may receive admonition.

[RK]:Do you not see that GOD has cited the example of the good word as a good tree whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches are high in the sky?

Wamathalu kalimatin khabeethatinkashajaratin khabeethatin ijtuththat min fawqi al-ardi malaha min qararin

ومثل كلمة خبيثة كشجرة خبيثة اجتثت من فوق الارض مالها من قرار

[YA]: And the parable of an evil Word is that of an evil tree: It is torn up by the root from the surface of the earth: it has no stability.

[RK]:And the example of the bad word is that of a bad tree chopped at the soil level; it has no roots to keep it standing.

Huwa allathee anzala mina alssama-imaan lakum minhu sharabun waminhu shajarun feehituseemoona

هو الذي انزل من السماء ماء لكم منه شراب ومنه شجر فيه تسيمون

[YA]: It is He who sends down rain from the sky: from it ye drink, and out of it (grows) the vegetation on which ye feed your cattle.

[RK]:He sends down from the sky water for your drink, and to grow trees for your benefit.

Waawha rabbuka ila alnnahliani ittakhithee mina aljibali buyootan wamina alshshajariwamimma yaAArishoona

واوحي ربك الي النحل ان اتخذي من الجبال بيوتا ومن الشجر ومما يعرشون

[YA]: And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations;

[RK]:And your Lord inspired the bee: build homes in mountains and trees, and in (the hives) they build for you.

Wa-ith qulna laka inna rabbakaahata bialnnasi wama jaAAalnaalrru/ya allatee araynaka illafitnatan lilnnasi waalshshajarataalmalAAoonata fee alqur-ani wanukhawwifuhum famayazeeduhum illa tughyanan kabeeran

واذ قلنا لك ان ربك احاط بالناس وماجعلنا الرؤيا التي اريناك الا فتنة للناس والشجرة الملعونة في القران ونخوفهم فما يزيدهم الا طغيانا كبيرا

[YA]: Behold! We told thee that thy Lord doth encompass mankind round about: We granted the vision which We showed thee, but as a trial for men,- as also the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Qur'an: We put terror (and warning) into them, but it only increases their inordinate transgression!

[RK]:We informed you that your Lord fully controls the people, and we rendered the vision that we showed you a test for the people, and the tree that is accursed in the Quran. We showed them solid proofs to instill reverence in them, but this only augmented their defiance.

فوسوس اليه الشيطان قال ياادم هل ادلك علي شجرة الخلد وملك لايبلي

[YA]: But Satan whispered evil to him: he said, "O Adam! shall I lead thee to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that never decays?"

[RK]:But the devil whispered to him, saying, "O Adam, let me show you the tree of eternity and unending kingship."

Alam tara anna Allaha yasjudu lahuman fee alssamawati waman fee al-ardiwaalshshamsu waalqamaru waalnnujoomu waaljibaluwaalshshajaru waalddawabbu wakatheerun minaalnnasi wakatheerun haqqa AAalayhi alAAathabuwaman yuhini Allahu fama lahu min mukrimin inna AllahayafAAalu ma yasha/o

الم تر ان الله يسجد له من في السماوات ومن في الارض والشمس والقمر والنجوم والجبال والشجر والدواب وكثير من الناس وكثير حق عليه العذاب ومن يهن الله فماله من مكرم ان الله يفعل مايشاء

[YA]: Seest thou not that to Allah bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as Allah shall disgrace,- None can raise to honour: for Allah carries out all that He wills.

[RK]:Do you not realize that to GOD prostrates everyone in the heavens and the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and the animals, and many people? Many others among the people are committed to doom. Whomever GOD shames, none will honor him. Everything is in accordance with GOD's will.

وشجرة تخرج من طور سيناء تنبت بالدهن وصبغ للاكلين

[YA]: Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food.

[RK]:Also, a tree native to Sinai produces oil, as well as relish for the eaters.

الله نور السماوات والارض مثل نوره كمشكاة فيها مصباح المصباح في زجاجة الزجاجة كانها كوكب دري يوقد من شجرة مباركة زيتونة لاشرقية ولاغربية يكاد زيتها يضيئ ولو لم تمسسه نار نور علي نور يهدي الله لنوره من يشاء ويضرب الله الامثال للناس والله بكل شئ عليم

[YA]: Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

[RK]:GOD is the light of the heavens and the earth. The allegory of His light is that of a concave mirror behind a lamp that is placed inside a glass container. The glass container is like a bright, pearl-like star. The fuel thereof is supplied from a blessed oil-producing tree, that is neither eastern, nor western. Its oil is almost self-radiating; needs no fire to ignite it. Light upon light. GOD guides to His light whoever wills (to be guided). GOD thus cites the parables for the people. GOD is fully aware of all things.

Amman khalaqa alssamawatiwaal-arda waanzala lakum mina alssama-imaan faanbatna bihi hada-iqa thatabahjatin ma kana lakum an tunbitoo shajarahaa-ilahun maAAa Allahi bal hum qawmun yaAAdiloona

امن خلق السماوات والارض وانزل لكم من السماء ماء فانبتنا به حدائق ذات بهجة ماكان لكم ان تنبتوا شجرها ءاله مع الله بل هم قوم يعدلون

[YA]: Or, Who has created the heavens and the earth, and Who sends you down rain from the sky? Yea, with it We cause to grow well-planted orchards full of beauty of delight: it is not in your power to cause the growth of the trees in them. (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Nay, they are a people who swerve from justice.

[RK]:Who is the One who created the heavens and the earth? Who is the One who sends down to you from the sky water, whereby we produce gardens full of beauty - you could not possibly manufacture its trees? Is it another god with GOD? Indeed, they are people who have deviated.

Falamma ataha noodiyamin shati-i alwadi al-aymani fee albuqAAati almubarakatimina alshshajarati an ya moosa innee anaAllahu rabbu alAAalameena

فلما اتاها نودي من شاطئ الواد الايمن في البقعة المباركة من الشجرة ان ياموسي اني انا الله رب العالمين

[YA]: But when he came to the (fire), a voice was heard from the right bank of the valley, from a tree in hallowed ground: "O Moses! Verily I am Allah, the Lord of the Worlds....

[RK]:When he reached it, he was called from the edge of the right side of the valley, in the blessed spot where the burning bush was located: "O Moses, this is Me. GOD; Lord of the universe.

Walaw annama fee al-ardi minshajaratin aqlamun waalbahru yamudduhu minbaAAdihi sabAAatu abhurin ma nafidat kalimatuAllahi inna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun

ولو ان ما في الارض من شجرة اقلام والبحر يمده من بعده سبعة ابحر مانفدت كلمات الله ان الله عزيز حكيم

[YA]: And if all the trees on earth were pens and the ocean (were ink), with seven oceans behind it to add to its (supply), yet would not the words of Allah be exhausted (in the writing): for Allah is Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom.

[RK]:If all the trees on earth were made into pens, and the ocean supplied the ink, augmented by seven more oceans, the words of GOD would not run out. GOD is Almighty, Most Wise.

الذي جعل لكم من الشجر الاخضر نارا فاذا انتم منه توقدون

[YA]: "The same Who produces for you fire out of the green tree, when behold! ye kindle therewith (your own fires)!

[RK]:He is the One who creates for you, from the green trees, fuel which you burn for light.

[YA]: Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?

[RK]:Is this a better destiny, or the tree of bitterness?

انها شجرة تخرج في اصل الجحيم

[YA]: For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire:

[RK]:It is a tree that grows in the heart of Hell.

وانبتنا عليه شجرة من يقطين

[YA]: And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind.

[RK]:We had a tree of edible fruit grown for him.

[YA]: Verily the tree of Zaqqum

[RK]:Surely, the tree of bitterness -

لقد رضي الله عن المؤمنين اذ يبايعونك تحت الشجرة فعلم مافي قلوبهم فانزل السكينة عليهم واثابهم فتحا قريبا

[YA]: Allah's Good Pleasure was on the Believers when they swore Fealty to thee under the Tree: He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down Tranquillity to them; and He rewarded them with a speedy Victory;

[RK]:GOD is pleased with the believers who pledged allegiance to you under the tree. He knew what was in their hearts and, consequently, He blessed them with contentment, and rewarded them with an immediate victory.

[YA]: And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration.

[RK]:The stars and the trees prostrate.

[YA]: "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum.

[RK]:"Will eat from the trees of bitterness.

ءانتم انشاتم شجرتها ام نحن المنشئون

[YA]: Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it?

[RK]:Did you initiate its tree, or did we?
