[YA]: O ye who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah, if ye have faith (indeed). [RK]:O you who believe, do not befriend those among the recipients of previous scripture who mock and ridicule your religion, nor shall you befriend the disbelievers. You shall reverence GOD, if you are really believers.

[YA]: When ye proclaim your call to prayer they take it (but) as mockery and sport; that is because they are a people without understanding. [RK]:When you call to the Contact Prayers (Salat), they mock and ridicule it. This is because they are people who do not understand.
3 | [6:32] Line:821 |

[YA]: What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand? [RK]:The life of this world is no more than illusion and vanity, while the abode of the Hereafter is far better for the righteous. Do you not understand?!

[YA]: Leave alone those who take their religion to be mere play and amusement, and are deceived by the life of this world. But proclaim (to them) this (truth): that every soul delivers itself to ruin by its own acts: it will find for itself no protector or intercessor except Allah: if it offered every ransom, (or reparation), none will be accepted: such is (the end of) those who deliver themselves to ruin by their own acts: they will have for drink (only) boiling water, and for punishment, one most grievous: for they persisted in rejecting Allah. [RK]:You shall disregard those who take their religion in vain, as if it is a social function, and are totally absorbed in this worldly life. Remind with this (Quran), lest a soul may suffer the consequences of its evil earnings. It has none beside GOD as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor. If it could offer any kind of ransom, it would not be accepted. They suffer the consequences of the evil works they earn; they have incurred hellish drinks, and a painful retribution because of their disbelief.

[YA]: No just estimate of Allah do they make when they say: "Nothing doth Allah send down to man (by way of revelation)" Say: "Who then sent down the Book which Moses brought?- a light and guidance to man: But ye make it into (separate) sheets for show, while ye conceal much (of its contents): therein were ye taught that which ye knew not- neither ye nor your fathers." Say: "Allah (sent it down)": Then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling. [RK]:They never valued GOD as He should be valued. Thus, they said, "GOD does not reveal anything to any human being." Say, "Who then revealed the scripture that Moses brought, with light and guidance for the people?" You put it down on paper to proclaim it, while concealing a lot of it. You were taught what you never knew - you and your parents. Say, "GOD (is the One who revealed it)," then leave them in their heedlessness, playing.

[YA]: "Such as took their religion to be mere amusement and play, and were deceived by the life of the world." That day shall We forget them as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs, and as they were wont to reject Our signs. [RK]:Those who do not take their religion seriously, and are totally preoccupied with this worldly life, we forget them on that day, because they forgot that day, and because they spurned our revelations.
7 | [7:98] Line:1052 |
| ||
[YA]: Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad daylight while they played about (care-free)? [RK]:Did the people of today's communities guarantee that our retribution will not come to them in the daytime while they play?
8 | [9:65] Line:1300 |
| ||
[YA]: If thou dost question them, they declare (with emphasis): "We were only talking idly and in play." Say: "Was it at Allah, and His Signs, and His Messenger, that ye were mocking?" [RK]:If you ask them, they would say, "We were only mocking and kidding." Say, "Do you realize that you are mocking GOD, and His revelations, and His messenger?"
9 | [12:12] Line:1608 |
| ||
[YA]: "Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and we shall take every care of him." [RK]:"Send him with us tomorrow to run and play. We will protect him."
10 | [21:2] Line:2485 |
| ||
[YA]: Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- [RK]:When a proof comes to them from their Lord, that is new, they listen to it heedlessly.
11 | [21:16] Line:2499 |
| ||
[YA]: Not for (idle) sport did We create the heavens and the earth and all that is between! [RK]:We did not create the heavens and the earth, and everything between them just for amusement.
12 | [21:55] Line:2538 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" [RK]:They said, "Are you telling us the truth, or are you playing?"
13 | [29:64] Line:3404 |
| ||
[YA]: What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew. [RK]:This worldly life is no more than vanity and play, while the abode of the Hereafter is the real life, if they only knew.
14 | [43:83] Line:4408 |
| ||
[YA]: So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised. [RK]:Let them blunder and play until they meet their day that is awaiting them.
15 | [44:9] Line:4423 |
| ||
[YA]: Yet they play about in doubt. [RK]:Indeed, they are doubtful, heedless.
16 | [44:38] Line:4452 |
| ||
[YA]: We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: [RK]:We did not create the heavens and the earth, and everything between them, just to play.
17 | [47:36] Line:4581 |
| ||
[YA]: The life of this world is but play and amusement: and if ye believe and guard against Evil, He will grant you your recompense, and will not ask you (to give up) your possessions. [RK]:This worldly life is no more than play and vanity. But if you believe and lead a righteous life, He will reward you, without asking you for any money.
18 | [52:12] Line:4747 |
| ||
[YA]: That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. [RK]:who are in their blundering, heedless.
19 | [57:20] Line:5095 |
| ||
[YA]: Know ye (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying, (in rivalry) among yourselves, riches and children. Here is a similitude: How rain and the growth which it brings forth, delight (the hearts of) the tillers; soon it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a Penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong). And Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the devotees of Allah). And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception? [RK]:Know that this worldly life is no more than play and games, and boasting among you, and hoarding of money and children. It is like abundant rain that produces plants and pleases the disbelievers. But then the plants turn into useless hay, and are blown away by the wind. In the Hereafter there is either severe retribution, or forgiveness from GOD and approval. This worldly life is no more than a temporary illusion.
20 | [70:42] Line:5417 |
| ||
[YA]: So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they encounter that Day of theirs which they have been promised!- [RK]:Therefore, let them blunder and play, until they meet the day that is awaiting them.
