[YA]: Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him?

[RK]:Have you seen the one whose god is his own ego? Will you be his advocate?

[YA]: "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"

[RK]:"Then you committed the crime that you committed, and you were ungrateful."

[YA]: They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!

[RK]:They said, "You are bewitched.

[YA]: "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar!

[RK]:"You are no more than a human being like us. In fact, we think you are a liar.

Wama anta bihadee alAAumyiAAan dalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa manyu/minu bi-ayatina fahum muslimoonaوماانت بهادي العمي عن ضلالتهم ان تسمع الا من يؤمن باياتنا فهم مسلمون
[YA]: Nor canst thou be a guide to the blind, (to prevent them) from straying: only those wilt thou get to listen who believe in Our Signs, and they will bow in Islam.

[RK]:Nor can you guide the blind out of their straying. The only ones who will hear you are those who believe in our revelations, and decide to be submitters.

Qala sanashuddu AAadudakabi-akheeka wanajAAalu lakuma sultanan falayasiloona ilaykuma bi-ayatinaantuma wamani ittabaAAakuma alghaliboonaقال سنشد عضدك باخيك ونجعل لكما سلطانا فلايصلون اليكما باياتنا انتما ومن اتبعكما الغالبون
[YA]: He said: "We will certainly strengthen thy arm through thy brother, and invest you both with authority, so they shall not be able to touch you: with Our Sign shall ye triumph,- you two as well as those who follow you."

[RK]:He said, "We will strengthen you with your brother, and we will provide you both with manifest authority. Thus, they will not be able to touch either one of you. With our miracles, the two of you, together with those who follow you, will be the victors."

Wama anta bihadi alAAumyi AAandalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa man yu/minu bi-ayatinafahum muslimoonaوماانت بهاد العمي عن ضلالتهم ان تسمع الا من يؤمن باياتنا فهم مسلمون
[YA]: Nor canst thou lead back the blind from their straying: only those wilt thou make to hear, who believe in Our signs and submit (their wills in Islam).

[RK]:Nor can you guide the blind out of their straying. You can only be heard by those who believe in our revelations, and decide to become submitters.

Qaloo subhanaka anta waliyyunamin doonihim bal kanoo yaAAbudoona aljinna aktharuhumbihim mu/minoonaقالوا سبحانك انت ولينا من دونهم بل كانوا يعبدون الجن اكثرهم بهم مؤمنون
[YA]: They will say, "Glory to Thee! our (tie) is with Thee - as Protector - not with them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinns: most of them believed in them."

[RK]:They will answer, "Be You glorified. You are our Lord and Master, not them. Instead, they were worshipping the jinns; most of them were believers therein."

Wama yastawee al-ahyaowala al-amwatu inna Allaha yusmiAAu man yashaowama anta bimusmiAAin man fee alqubooriومايستوي الاحياء ولاالاموات ان الله يسمع من يشاء وماانت بمسمع من في القبور
[YA]: Nor are alike those that are living and those that are dead. Allah can make any that He wills to hear; but thou canst not make those to hear who are (buried) in graves.

[RK]:Nor are the living and the dead; GOD causes whomever He wills to hear. You cannot make hearers out of those in the graves.

[YA]: Thou art no other than a warner.

[RK]:You are no more than a warner.

Qala rabbi ighfir lee wahab leemulkan la yanbaghee li-ahadin min baAAdee innakaanta alwahhabuقال رب اغفر لي وهب لي ملكا لاينبغي لاحد من بعدي انك انت الوهاب
[YA]: He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure).

[RK]:He said, "My Lord, forgive me, and grant me a kingship never attained by anyone else. You are the Grantor."

Afaman haqqa AAalayhi kalimatu alAAathabiafaanta tunqithu man fee alnnariافمن حق عليه كلمة العذاب افانت تنقذ من في النار
[YA]: Is, then, one against whom the decree of Punishment is justly due (equal to one who eschews Evil)? Wouldst thou, then, deliver one (who is) in the Fire?

[RK]:With regard to those who have deserved the retribution, can you save those who are already in Hell?

Inna anzalna AAalayka alkitabalilnnasi bialhaqqi famani ihtadafalinafsihi waman dalla fa-innama yadilluAAalayha wama anta AAalayhim biwakeelinانا انزلنا عليك الكتاب للناس بالحق فمن اهتدي فلنفسه ومن ضل فانما يضل عليها وماانت عليهم بوكيل
[YA]: Verily We have revealed the Book to thee in Truth, for (instructing) mankind. He, then, that receives guidance benefits his own soul: but he that strays injures his own soul. Nor art thou set over them to dispose of their affairs.

[RK]:We have revealed the scripture through you for the people, truthfully. Then, whoever is guided is guided for his own good, and whoever goes astray goes astray to his own detriment. You are not their advocate.

Quli allahumma fatira alssamawatiwaal-ardi AAalima alghaybi waalshshahadatianta tahkumu bayna AAibadika fee ma kanoofeehi yakhtalifoonaقل اللهم فاطر السماوات والارض عالم الغيب والشهادة انت تحكم بين عبادك في ماكانوا فيه يختلفون
[YA]: Say: "O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of all that is hidden and open! it is Thou that wilt judge between Thy Servants in those matters about which they have differed."

[RK]:Proclaim: "Our god, Initiator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of all secrets and declarations, You are the only One who judges among Your servants regarding their disputes."

Rabbana waadkhilhum jannatiAAadnin allatee waAAadtahum waman salaha min aba-ihimwaazwajihim wathurriyyatihim innaka antaalAAazeezu alhakeemuربنا وادخلهم جنات عدن التي وعدتهم ومن صلح من ابائهم وازواجهم وذرياتهم انك انت العزيز الحكيم
[YA]: "And grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their posterity! For Thou art (He), the Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom.

[RK]:"Our Lord, and admit them into the gardens of Eden that You promised for them and for the righteous among their parents, spouses, and children. You are the Almighty, Most Wise.

Waallatheena ittakhathoomin doonihi awliyaa Allahu hafeethunAAalayhim wama anta AAalayhim biwakeelinوالذين اتخذوا من دونه اولياء الله حفيظ عليهم وماانت عليهم بوكيل
[YA]: And those who take as protectors others besides Him,- Allah doth watch over them; and thou art not the disposer of their affairs.

[RK]:Those who set up other lords beside Him, GOD is the One in charge of them; you are not their advocate.

Afaanta tusmiAAu alssumma awtahdee alAAumya waman kana fee dalalinmubeeninافانت تسمع الصم او تهدي العمي ومن كان في ضلال مبين
[YA]: Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error?

[RK]:Can you make the deaf hear; can you make the blind see, or those who are far astray?

[YA]: "Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour!

[RK]:"Taste this; you were so powerful, so honorable."

Nahnu aAAlamu bima yaqooloonawama anta AAalayhim bijabbarin fathakkir bialqur-animan yakhafu waAAeediنحن اعلم بما يقولون وماانت عليهم بجبار فذكر بالقران من يخاف وعيد
[YA]: We know best what they say; and thou art not one to overawe them by force. So admonish with the Qur'an such as fear My Warning!

[RK]:We are fully aware of everything they utter, while you have no power over them. Therefore, remind with this Quran, those who reverence My warnings.

Fatawalla AAanhum fama anta bimaloominفتول عنهم فما انت بملوم
[YA]: So turn away from them: not thine is the blame.

[RK]:You may disregard them; you cannot be blamed.

Fathakkir fama anta biniAAmatirabbika bikahin wala majnooninفذكر فما انت بنعمة ربك بكاهن ولامجنون
[YA]: Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed.

[RK]:You shall remind the people. With your Lord's blessing's upon you, you are neither a soothsayer, nor crazy.

Rabbana la tajAAalnafitnatan lillatheena kafaroo waighfir lanarabbana innaka anta alAAazeezu alhakeemuربنا لاتجعلنا فتنة للذين كفروا واغفر لنا ربنا انك انت العزيز الحكيم
[YA]: "Our Lord! Make us not a (test and) trial for the Unbelievers, but forgive us, our Lord! for Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

[RK]:"Our Lord, let us not be oppressed by those who disbelieved, and forgive us. You are the Almighty, Most Wise."

[YA]: Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof?

[RK]:It is not you (Muhammad) who is destined to announce its time.

[YA]: Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it.

[RK]:Your mission is to warn those who expect it.

[YA]: To him dost thou attend;

[RK]:You gave him your attention.

[YA]: Of him wast thou unmindful.

Fathakkir innama anta muthakkirunفذكر انما انت مذكر
[YA]: Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.

[RK]:You shall remind, for your mission is to deliver this reminder.

[YA]: And thou art a freeman of this City;-

[RK]:The town where you live.
