[YA]: When she was delivered, she said: "O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!"- and Allah knew best what she brought forth- "And no wise is the male Like the female. I have named her Mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Thy protection from the Evil One, the Rejected." [RK]:When she gave birth to her, she said, "My Lord, I have given birth to a girl" - GOD was fully aware of what she bore - "The male is not the same as the female. I have named her Mary, and I invoke Your protection for her and her descendants from the rejected devil." | ||||

[YA]: They said: "O Shu'aib! much of what thou sayest we do not understand! In fact among us we see that thou hast no strength! Were it not for thy family, we should certainly have stoned thee! for thou hast among us no great position!" [RK]:They said, "O Shu`aib, we do not comprehend many of the things you are telling us, and we see that you are powerless among us. If it were not for your tribe, we would have stoned you. You have no value for us." | ||||

[YA]: And (moreover) We have guarded them from every cursed devil: [RK]:And we guarded it against every rejected devil. | ||||

[YA]: (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. [RK]:He said, "Therefore, you must get out; you are banished. | ||||

[YA]: When thou dost read the Qur'an, seek Allah's protection from Satan the rejected one. [RK]:When you read the Quran, you shall seek refuge in GOD from Satan the rejected. | ||||

[YA]: "For if they should come upon you, they would stone you or force you to return to their cult, and in that case ye would never attain prosperity." [RK]:"If they discover you, they will stone you, or force you to revert to their religion, then you can never succeed." | ||||

[YA]: (Some) say they were three, the dog being the fourth among them; (others) say they were five, the dog being the sixth,- doubtfully guessing at the unknown; (yet others) say they were seven, the dog being the eighth. Say thou: "My Lord knoweth best their number; It is but few that know their (real case)." Enter not, therefore, into controversies concerning them, except on a matter that is clear, nor consult any of them about (the affair of) the Sleepers. [RK]:Some would say, "They were three; their dog being the fourth," while others would say, "Five; the sixth being their dog," as they guessed. Others said, "Seven," and the eighth was their dog. Say, "My Lord is the best knower of their number." Only a few knew the correct number. Therefore, do not argue with them; just go along with them. You need not consult anyone about this. | ||||

[YA]: (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!" [RK]:He said, "Have you forsaken my gods, O Abraham? Unless you stop, I will stone you. Leave me alone." | ||||

[YA]: They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)." [RK]:They said, "Unless you refrain, O Noah, you will be stoned." | ||||

[YA]: The (people) said: "for us, we augur an evil omen from you: if ye desist not, we will certainly stone you. And a grievous punishment indeed will be inflicted on you by us." [RK]:They said, "We consider you bad omens. Unless you refrain, we will surely stone you, or afflict you with painful retribution." | ||||

[YA]: (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here: for thou art rejected, accursed. [RK]:He said, "Therefore, you must be exiled, you will be banished. | ||||

[YA]: "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me. [RK]:"I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, if you oppose me. | ||||

[YA]: And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire. [RK]:We adorned the lowest universe with lamps, and guarded its borders with projectiles against the devils; we prepared for them a retribution in Hell. | ||||

[YA]: Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. [RK]:It is not the talk of a rejected devil. | ||||
