Wawassa biha ibraheemubaneehi wayaAAqoobu ya baniyya inna Allaha istafalakumu alddeena fala tamootunna illa waantummuslimoona

ووصي بها ابراهيم بنيه ويعقوب يابني ان الله اصطفي لكم الدين فلاتموتن الا وانتم مسلمون

[YA]: And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam."

[RK]:Moreover, Abraham exhorted his children to do the same, and so did Jacob: "O my children, GOD has pointed out the religion for you; do not die except as submitters."

Am kuntum shuhadaa ith hadarayaAAqooba almawtu ith qala libaneehi mataAAbudoona min baAAdee qaloo naAAbudu ilahakawa-ilaha aba-ika ibraheema wa-ismaAAeelawa-ishaqa ilahan wahidan wanahnu lahumuslimoona

ام كنتم شهداء اذ حضر يعقوب الموت اذ قال لبنيه ماتعبدون من بعدي قالوا نعبدالهك واله ابائك ابراهيم واسماعيل واسحاق الها واحدا ونحن له مسلمون

[YA]: Were ye witnesses when death appeared before Jacob? Behold, he said to his sons: "What will ye worship after me?" They said: "We shall worship Thy god and the god of thy fathers, of Abraham, Isma'il and Isaac,- the one (True) Allah: To Him we bow (in Islam)."

[RK]:Had you witnessed Jacob on his death bed; he said to his children, "What will you worship after I die?" They said, "We will worship your god; the god of your fathers Abraham, Ismail, and Isaac; the one god. To Him we are submitters."

Qooloo amanna biAllahiwama onzila ilayna wama onzila ilaibraheema wa-ismaAAeela wa-ishaqawayaAAqooba waal-asbati wama ootiya moosawaAAeesa wama ootiya alnnabiyyoona minrabbihim la nufarriqu bayna ahadin minhum wanahnulahu muslimoona

قولوا امنا بالله وماانزل الينا وماانزل الي ابراهيم واسماعيل واسحاق ويعقوب والاسباط ومااوتي موسي وعيسي ومااوتي النبيون من ربهم لانفرق بين احد منهم ونحن له مسلمون

[YA]: Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)."

[RK]:Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

Am taqooloona inna ibraheema wa-ismaAAeelawa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba waal-asbata kanoohoodan aw nasara qul aantum aAAlamu ami Allahuwaman athlamu mimman katama shahadatanAAindahu mina Allahi wama Allahu bighafilinAAamma taAAmaloona

ام تقولون ان ابراهيم واسماعيل واسحاق ويعقوب والاسباط كانوا هودا او نصاري قل ءانتم اعلم ام الله ومن اظلم ممن كتم شهادة عنده من الله وما الله بغافل عما تعملون

[YA]: Or do ye say that Abraham, Isma'il Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes were Jews or Christians? Say: Do ye know better than Allah? Ah! who is more unjust than those who conceal the testimony they have from Allah? but Allah is not unmindful of what ye do!

[RK]:Do you say that Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs were Jewish or Christian? Say, "Do you know better than GOD? Who is more evil than one who conceals a testimony he has learned from GOD? GOD is never unaware of anything you do."

Wakathalika jaAAalnakumommatan wasatan litakoonoo shuhadaa AAala alnnasiwayakoona alrrasoolu AAalaykum shaheedan wamajaAAalna alqiblata allatee kunta AAalayha illalinaAAlama man yattabiAAu alrrasoola mimman yanqalibu AAalaAAaqibayhi wa-in kanat lakabeeratan illa AAalaallatheena hada Allahu wama kanaAllahu liyudeeAAa eemanakum inna Allahabialnnasi laraoofun raheemun

وكذلك جعلناكم امة وسطا لتكونوا شهداء علي الناس ويكون الرسول عليكم شهيدا وماجعلنا القبلة التي كنت عليهاالا لنعلم من يتبع الرسول ممن ينقلب علي عقبيه وان كانت لكبيرة الا علي الذين هدي الله وماكان الله ليضيع ايمانكم ان الله بالناس لرؤوف رحيم

[YA]: Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves; and We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except to those guided by Allah. And never would Allah Make your faith of no effect. For Allah is to all people Most surely full of kindness, Most Merciful.

[RK]:We thus made you an impartial community, that you may serve as witnesses among the people, and the messenger serves as a witness among you. We changed the direction of your original Qiblah only to distinguish those among you who readily follow the messenger from those who would turn back on their heels. It was a difficult test, but not for those who are guided by GOD. GOD never puts your worship to waste. GOD is Compassionate towards the people, Most Merciful.

Waatimmoo alhajja waalAAumratalillahi fa-in ohsirtum fama istaysara minaalhadyi wala tahliqoo ruoosakum hattayablugha alhadyu mahillahu faman kana minkum mareedanaw bihi athan min ra/sihi fafidyatun min siyaminaw sadaqatin aw nusukin fa-itha amintum famantamattaAAa bialAAumrati ila alhajji famaistaysara mina alhadyi faman lam yajid fasiyamuthalathati ayyamin fee alhajji wasabAAatin itharajaAAtum tilka AAasharatun kamilatun thalika limanlam yakun ahluhu hadiree almasjidi alharamiwaittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allahashadeedu alAAiqabi

واتموا الحج والعمرة لله فان احصرتم فما استيسر من الهدي ولاتحلقوا رؤوسكم حتي يبلغ الهدي محله فمن كان منكم مريضا او به اذي من راسه ففدية من صيام او صدقة او نسك فاذا امنتم فمن تمتع بالعمرة الي الحج فما استيسر من الهدي فمن لم يجد فصيام ثلاثة ايام في الحج وسبعة اذا رجعتم تلك عشرة كاملة ذلك لمن لم يكن اهله حاضري المسجد الحرام واتقوا الله واعلموا ان الله شديد العقاب

[YA]: And complete the Hajj or 'umra in the service of Allah. But if ye are prevented (From completing it), send an offering for sacrifice, such as ye may find, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (Necessitating shaving), (He should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice; and when ye are in peaceful conditions (again), if any one wishes to continue the 'umra on to the hajj, He must make an offering, such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, He should fast three days during the hajj and seven days on his return, Making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque. And fear Allah, and know that Allah Is strict in punishment.

[RK]:You shall observe the complete rites of Hajj and `Umrah for GOD. If you are prevented, you shall send an offering, and do not resume cutting your hair until your offering has reached its destination. If you are ill, or suffering a head injury (and you must cut your hair), you shall expiate by fasting, or giving to charity, or some other form of worship. During the normal Hajj, if you break the state of Ihraam (sanctity) between `Umrah and Hajj, you shall expiate by offering an animal sacrifice. If you cannot afford it, you shall fast three days during Hajj and seven when you return home - this completes ten - provided you do not live at the Sacred Masjid. You shall observe GOD, and know that GOD is strict in enforcing retribution.

Sal banee isra-eela kam ataynahummin ayatin bayyinatin waman yubaddil niAAmata Allahimin baAAdi ma jaat-hu fa-inna Allahashadeedu alAAiqabi

سل بني اسرائيل كم اتيناهم من اية بينة ومن يبدل نعمة الله من بعد ماجاءته فان الله شديد العقاب

[YA]: Ask the Children of Israel how many clear (Signs) We have sent them. But if any one, after Allah's favour has come to him, substitutes (something else), Allah is strict in punishment.

[RK]:Ask the Children of Israel how many profound miracles have we shown them! For those who disregard the blessings bestowed upon them by GOD, GOD is most strict in retribution.

Kada/bi ali firAAawna waallatheenamin qablihim kaththaboo bi-ayatinafaakhathahumu Allahu bithunoobihim waAllahushadeedu alAAiqabi

كداب ال فرعون والذين من قبلهم كذبوا باياتنا فاخذهم الله بذنوبهم والله شديد العقاب

[YA]: (Their plight will be) no better than that of the people of Pharaoh, and their predecessors: They denied our Signs, and Allah called them to account for their sins. For Allah is strict in punishment.

[RK]:Like Pharaoh's people and those before them, they rejected our revelations and, consequently, GOD punished them for their sins. GOD is strict in enforcing retribution.

Qul amanna biAllahiwama onzila AAalayna wama onzila AAalaibraheema wa-ismaAAeela wa-ishaqawayaAAqooba waal-asbati wama ootiya moosawaAAeesa waalnnabiyyoona min rabbihim lanufarriqu bayna ahadin minhum wanahnu lahumuslimoona

قل امنا بالله وماانزل علينا وماانزل علي ابراهيم واسماعيل واسحاق ويعقوب والاسباط ومااوتي موسي وعيسي والنبيون من ربهم لانفرق بين احد منهم ونحن له مسلمون

[YA]: Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)."

[RK]:Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and in what was given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

Qad khalat min qablikum sunanun faseeroofee al-ardi faonthuroo kayfa kanaAAaqibatu almukaththibeena

قد خلت من قبلكم سنن فسيروا في الارض فانظروا كيف كان عاقبة المكذبين

[YA]: Many were the Ways of Life that have passed away before you: travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth.

[RK]:Precedents have been set for you in the past; roam the earth and note the consequences for the unbelievers.

Wama muhammadun illarasoolun qad khalat min qablihi alrrusulu afa-in mataaw qutila inqalabtum AAala aAAqabikum wamanyanqalib AAala AAaqibayhi falan yadurra Allahashay-an wasayajzee Allahu alshshakireena

ومامحمد الا رسول قد خلت من قبله الرسل افئن مات او قتل انقلبتم علي اعقابكم ومن ينقلب علي عقبيه فلن يضر الله شيئا وسيجزي الله الشاكرين

[YA]: Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude.

[RK]:Muhammad was no more than a messenger like the messengers before him. Should he die or get killed, would you turn back on your heels? Anyone who turns back on his heels, does not hurt GOD in the least. GOD rewards those who are appreciative.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooin tuteeAAoo allatheena kafaroo yaruddookum AAalaaAAqabikum fatanqaliboo khasireena

ياايها الذين امنوا ان تطيعوا الذين كفروا يردوكم علي اعقابكم فتنقلبوا خاسرين

[YA]: O ye who believe! If ye obey the Unbelievers, they will drive you back on your heels, and ye will turn back (from Faith) to your own loss.

[RK]:O you who believe, if you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, then you end up losers.

Inna awhayna ilaykakama awhayna ila noohin waalnnabiyyeenamin baAAdihi waawhayna ila ibraheemawa-ismaAAeela wa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba waal-asbatiwaAAeesa waayyooba wayoonusa waharoona wasulaymanawaatayna dawooda zabooran

انا اوحينا اليك كما اوحينا الي نوح والنبيين من بعده واوحينا الي ابراهيم واسماعيل واسحاق ويعقوب والاسباط وعيسي وايوب ويونس وهارون وسليمان واتينا داؤود زبورا

[YA]: We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.

[RK]:We have inspired you, as we inspired Noah and the prophets after him. And we inspired Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, the Patriarchs, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon. And we gave David the Psalms.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tuhilloo shaAAa-ira Allahi walaalshshahra alharama wala alhadya walaalqala-ida wala ammeena albayta alharamayabtaghoona fadlan min rabbihim waridwananwa-itha halaltum faistadoo walayajrimannakum shanaanu qawmin an saddookum AAanialmasjidi alharami an taAAtadoo wataAAawanooAAala albirri waalttaqwa wala taAAawanooAAala al-ithmi waalAAudwani waittaqooAllaha inna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi

ياايها الذين امنوا لاتحلوا شعائر الله ولاالشهر الحرام ولاالهدي ولا القلائد ولاامين البيت الحرام يبتغون فضلا من ربهم ورضوانا واذا حللتم فاصطادوا ولايجرمنكم شنان قوم ان صدوكم عن المسجد الحرام ان تعتدوا وتعاونوا علي البر والتقوي ولاتعاونوا علي الاثم والعدوان واتقوا الله ان الله شديد العقاب

[YA]: O ye who believe! Violate not the sanctity of the symbols of Allah, nor of the sacred month, nor of the animals brought for sacrifice, nor the garlands that mark out such animals, nor the people resorting to the sacred house, seeking of the bounty and good pleasure of their Lord. But when ye are clear of the sacred precincts and of pilgrim garb, ye may hunt and let not the hatred of some people in (once) shutting you out of the Sacred Mosque lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment.

[RK]:O you who believe, do not violate the rites instituted by GOD, nor the Sacred Months, nor the animals to be offered, nor the garlands marking them, nor the people who head for the Sacred Shrine (Ka`bah) seeking blessings from their Lord and approval. Once you complete the pilgrimage, you may hunt. Do not be provoked into aggression by your hatred of people who once prevented you from going to the Sacred Masjid. You shall cooperate in matters of righteousness and piety; do not cooperate in matters that are sinful and evil. You shall observe GOD. GOD is strict in enforcing retribution.

IAAlamoo anna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabiwaanna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

اعلموا ان الله شديد العقاب وان الله غفور رحيم

[YA]: Know ye that Allah is strict in punishment and that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

[RK]:Know that GOD is strict in enforcing retribution, and that GOD is Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Qul seeroo fee al-ardi thumma onthurookayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena

قل سيروا في الارض ثم انظروا كيف كان عاقبة المكذبين

[YA]: Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth."

[RK]:Say, "Roam the earth and note the consequences for the rejectors."

Qul anadAAoo min dooni Allahi mala yanfaAAuna wala yadurrunawanuraddu AAala aAAqabina baAAda ithhadana Allahu kaallathee istahwat-hualshshayateenu fee al-ardi hayranalahu as-habun yadAAoonahu ila alhudai/tina qul inna huda Allahi huwa alhudawaomirna linuslima lirabbi alAAalameena

قل اندعوا من دون الله مالا ينفعنا ولايضرنا ونرد علي اعقابنا بعد اذ هدانا الله كالذي استهوته الشياطين في الارض حيران له اصحاب يدعونه الي الهدي ائتنا قل ان هدي الله هو الهدي وامرنا لنسلم لرب العالمين

[YA]: Say: "Shall we indeed call on others besides Allah,- things that can do us neither good nor harm,- and turn on our heels after receiving guidance from Allah? - like one whom the evil ones have made into a fool, wandering bewildered through the earth, his friends calling, come to us', (vainly) guiding him to the path." Say: "Allah's guidance is the (only) guidance, and we have been directed to submit ourselves to the Lord of the worlds;-

[RK]:Say, "Shall we implore, beside GOD, what possesses no power to benefit us or hurt us, and turn back on our heels after GOD has guided us? In that case, we would join those possessed by the devils, and rendered utterly confused, while their friends try to save them: `Stay with us on the right path.' " Say, "GOD's guidance is the right guidance. We are commanded to submit to the Lord of the universe.

Wawahabna lahu ishaqawayaAAqooba kullan hadayna wanoohan hadaynamin qablu wamin thurriyyatihi dawooda wasulaymanawaayyooba wayoosufa wamoosa waharoona wakathalikanajzee almuhsineena

ووهبنا له اسحاق ويعقوب كلا هدينا ونوحا هدينا من قبل ومن ذريته داوود وسليمان وايوب ويوسف وموسي وهارون وكذلك نجزي المحسنين

[YA]: We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) guided: and before him, We guided Noah, and among his progeny, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus do We reward those who do good:

[RK]:And we granted him Isaac and Jacob, and we guided both of them. Similarly, we guided Noah before that, and from his descendants (we guided) David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. We thus reward the righteous.

Qul ya qawmi iAAmaloo AAalamakanatikum innee AAamilun fasawfa taAAlamoona mantakoonu lahu AAaqibatu alddari innahu layuflihu alththalimoona

قل ياقوم اعملوا علي مكانتكم اني عامل فسوف تعلمون من تكون له عاقبة الدار انه لايفلح الظالمون

[YA]: Say: "O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part): soon will ye know who it is whose end will be (best) in the Hereafter: certain it is that the wrong-doers will not prosper."

[RK]:Say, "O my people, do your best, and so will I. You will surely find out who the ultimate victors are." Certainly, the wicked will never succeed.

Wahuwa allathee jaAAalakum khala-ifaal-ardi warafaAAa baAAdakum fawqa baAAdindarajatin liyabluwakum fee ma atakuminna rabbaka sareeAAu alAAiqabi wa-innahu laghafoorun raheemun

وهو الذي جعلكم خلائف الارض ورفع بعضكم فوق بعض درجات ليبلوكم في ما اتاكم ان ربك سريع العقاب وانه لغفور رحيم

[YA]: It is He Who hath made you (His) agents, inheritors of the earth: He hath raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in the gifts He hath given you: for thy Lord is quick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

[RK]:He is the One who made you inheritors of the earth, and He raised some of you above others in rank, in order to test you in accordance with what He has given you. Surely, your Lord is efficient in enforcing retribution, and He is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Waamtarna AAalayhim mataranfaonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatualmujrimeena

وامطرنا عليهم مطرا فانظر كيف كان عاقبة المجرمين

[YA]: And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): Then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime!

[RK]:We showered them with a certain shower; note the consequences for the guilty.

Wala taqAAudoo bikulli siratintooAAidoona watasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi man amanabihi watabghoonaha AAiwajan waothkuroo ithkuntum qaleelan fakaththarakum waonthurookayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena

ولاتقعدوا بكل صراط توعدون وتصدون عن سبيل الله من امن به وتبغونها عوجا واذكروا اذ كنتم قليلا فكثركم وانظروا كيف كان عاقبة المفسدين

[YA]: "And squat not on every road, breathing threats, hindering from the path of Allah those who believe in Him, and seeking in it something crooked; But remember how ye were little, and He gave you increase. And hold in your mind's eye what was the end of those who did mischief.

[RK]:"Refrain from blocking every path, seeking to repel those who believe from the path of GOD, and do not make it crooked. Remember that you used to be few and He multiplied your number. Recall the consequences for the wicked.

Thumma baAAathna min baAAdihim moosabi-ayatina ila firAAawna wamala-ihifathalamoo biha faonuthurkayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena

ثم بعثنا من بعدهم موسي باياتنا الي فرعون وملئه فظلموا بها فانظر كيف كان عاقبة المفسدين

[YA]: Then after them We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them: So see what was the end of those who made mischief.

[RK]:After (those messengers,) we sent Moses with our signs to Pharaoh and his people, but they transgressed. Note the consequences for the wicked.

Qala moosa liqawmihiistaAAeenoo biAllahi waisbiroo innaal-arda lillahi yoorithuha man yashaomin AAibadihi waalAAaqibatu lilmuttaqeena

قال موسي لقومه استعينوا بالله واصبروا ان الارض لله يورثها من يشاء من عباده والعاقبة للمتقين

[YA]: Said Moses to his people: "Pray for help from Allah, and (wait) in patience and constancy: for the earth is Allah's, to give as a heritage to such of His servants as He pleaseth; and the end is (best) for the righteous.

[RK]:Moses said to his people, "Seek GOD's help, and steadfastly persevere. The earth belongs to GOD, and He grants it to whomever He chooses from among His servants. The ultimate victory belongs to the righteous."

Wa-ith taaththana rabbukalayabAAathanna AAalayhim ila yawmi alqiyamati manyasoomuhum soo-a alAAathabi inna rabbaka lasareeAAu alAAiqabiwa-innahu laghafoorun raheemun

واذ تاذن ربك ليبعثن عليهم الي يوم القيامة من يسومهم سوء العذاب ان ربك لسريع العقاب وانه لغفور رحيم

[YA]: Behold! thy Lord did declare that He would send against them, to the Day of Judgment, those who would afflict them with grievous penalty. Thy Lord is quick in retribution, but He is also Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

[RK]:Additionally, your Lord has decreed that He will raise up against them people who will inflict severe persecution upon them, until the Day of Resurrection. Your Lord is most efficient in enforcing retribution, and He is certainly the Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Thalika bi-annahum shaqqoo Allahawarasoolahu waman yushaqiqi Allaha warasoolahufa-inna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi

ذلك بانهم شاقوا الله ورسوله ومن يشاقق الله ورسوله فان الله شديد العقاب

[YA]: This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger: If any contend against Allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishment.

[RK]:This is what they have justly incurred by fighting GOD and His messenger. For those who fight against GOD and His messenger, GOD's retribution is severe.

Waittaqoo fitnatan la tuseebannaallatheena thalamoo minkum khassatanwaiAAlamoo anna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi

واتقوا فتنة لاتصيبن الذين ظلموا منكم خاصة واعلموا ان الله شديد العقاب

[YA]: And fear tumult or oppression, which affecteth not in particular (only) those of you who do wrong: and know that Allah is strict in punishment.

[RK]:Beware of a retribution that may not be limited to the evildoers among you. You should know that GOD's retribution is severe.

Wa-ith zayyana lahumu alshshaytanuaAAmalahum waqala la ghaliba lakumualyawma mina alnnasi wa-innee jarun lakumfalamma taraati alfi-atani nakasaAAala AAaqibayhi waqala innee baree-on minkum inneeara ma la tarawna innee akhafu AllahawaAllahu shadeedu alAAiqabi

واذ زين لهم الشيطان اعمالهم وقال لاغالب لكم اليوم من الناس واني جار لكم فلما تراءت الفئتان نكص علي عقبيه وقال اني بري منكم اني اري مالاترون اني اخاف الله والله شديد العقاب

[YA]: Remember Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them, and said: "No one among men can overcome you this day, while I am near to you": But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he turned on his heels, and said: "Lo! I am clear of you; lo! I see what ye see not; Lo! I fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment."

[RK]:The devil had adorned their works in their eyes, and said, "You cannot be defeated by any people today," and "I will be fighting along with you." But as soon as the two armies faced each other, he turned back on his heels and fled, saying, "I disown you. I see what you do not see. I am afraid of GOD. GOD's retribution is awesome."

Kada/bi ali firAAawna waallatheenamin qablihim kafaroo bi-ayati Allahi faakhathahumuAllahu bithunoobihim inna Allaha qawiyyunshadeedu alAAiqabi

كداب ال فرعون والذين من قبلهم كفروا بايات الله فاخذهم الله بذنوبهم ان الله قوي شديد العقاب

[YA]: "(Deeds) after the manner of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them: They rejected the Signs of Allah, and Allah punished them for their crimes: for Allah is Strong, and Strict in punishment:

[RK]:This is the same fate as that of Pharaoh's people and those who disbelieved before them. They rejected GOD's revelations, and GOD punished them for their sins. GOD is powerful, and His retribution is severe.

FaaAAqabahum nifaqan fee quloobihimila yawmi yalqawnahu bima akhlafoo Allaha mawaAAadoohu wabima kanoo yakthiboona

فاعقبهم نفاقا في قلوبهم الي يوم يلقونه بما اخلفوا الله ماوعدوه وبما كانوا يكذبون

[YA]: So He hath put as a consequence hypocrisy into their hearts, (to last) till the Day, whereon they shall meet Him: because they broke their covenant with Allah, and because they lied (again and again).

[RK]:Consequently, He plagued them with hypocrisy in their hearts, till the day they meet Him. This is because they broke their promises to GOD, and because of their lying.

Bal kaththaboo bima lam yuheetoobiAAilmihi walamma ya/tihim ta/weeluhu kathalika kaththabaallatheena min qablihim faonthurkayfa kana AAaqibatu alththalimeena

بل كذبوا بما لم يحيطوا بعلمه ولما ياتهم تاويله كذلك كذب الذين من قبلهم فانظر كيف كان عاقبة الظالمين

[YA]: Nay, they charge with falsehood that whose knowledge they cannot compass, even before the elucidation thereof hath reached them: thus did those before them make charges of falsehood: but see what was the end of those who did wrong!

[RK]:Indeed, they have rejected this without studying and examining it, and before understanding it. Thus did those before them disbelieve. Therefore, note the consequences for the transgressors.

Fakaththaboohu fanajjaynahuwaman maAAahu fee alfulki wajaAAalnahum khala-ifawaaghraqna allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinafaonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatualmunthareena

فكذبوه فنجيناه ومن معه في الفلك وجعلناهم خلائف واغرقنا الذين كذبوا باياتنا فانظر كيف كان عاقبة المنذرين

[YA]: They rejected Him, but We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark, and We made them inherit (the earth), while We overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our Signs. Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not)!

[RK]:They rejected him and, consequently, we saved him and those who joined him in the ark; we made them the inheritors. And we drowned those who rejected our revelations. Note the consequences; they have been warned.

Tilka min anba-i alghaybi nooheehailayka ma kunta taAAlamuha anta wala qawmukamin qabli hatha faisbir inna alAAaqibatalilmuttaqeena

تلك من انباء الغيب نوحيها اليك ماكنت تعلمها انت ولاقومك من قبل هذا فاصبر ان العاقبة للمتقين

[YA]: Such are some of the stories of the unseen, which We have revealed unto thee: before this, neither thou nor thy people knew them. So persevere patiently: for the End is for those who are righteous.

[RK]:This is news from the past that we reveal to you. You had no knowledge about them - neither you, nor your people - before this. Therefore, be patient. The ultimate victory belongs to the righteous.

Waimraatuhu qa-imatun fadahikatfabashsharnaha bi-ishaqa wamin wara-iishaqa yaAAqooba

وامراته قائمة فضحكت فبشرناها باسحاق ومن وراء اسحاق يعقوب

[YA]: And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed: But we gave her glad tidings of Isaac, and after him, of Jacob.

[RK]:His wife was standing, and she laughed when we gave her the good news about Isaac, and after Isaac, Jacob.

Wakathalika yajtabeeka rabbukawayuAAallimuka min ta/weeli al-ahadeethi wayutimmuniAAmatahu AAalayka waAAala ali yaAAqooba kamaatammaha AAala abawayka min qablu ibraheemawa-ishaqa inna rabbaka AAaleemun hakeemun

وكذلك يجتبيك ربك ويعلمك من تاويل الاحاديث ويتم نعمته عليك وعلي ال يعقوب كما اتمها علي ابويك من قبل ابراهيم واسحاق ان ربك عليم حكيم

[YA]: "Thus will thy Lord choose thee and teach thee the interpretation of stories (and events) and perfect His favour to thee and to the posterity of Jacob - even as He perfected it to thy fathers Abraham and Isaac aforetime! for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom."

[RK]:"Your Lord has thus blessed you, and has given you good news through your dream. He has perfected His blessings upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He did for your ancestors Abraham and Isaac before that. Your Lord is Omniscient, Most Wise."

WaittabaAAtu millata aba-eeibraheema wa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba ma kanalana an nushrika biAllahi min shay-in thalikamin fadli Allahi AAalayna waAAala alnnasiwalakinna akthara alnnasi layashkuroona

واتبعت ملة ابائي ابراهيم واسحاق ويعقوب ما كان لنا ان نشرك بالله من شئ ذلك من فضل الله علينا وعلي الناس ولكن اكثر الناس لايشكرون

[YA]: "And I follow the ways of my fathers,- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and never could we attribute any partners whatever to Allah: that (comes) of the grace of Allah to us and to mankind: yet most men are not grateful.

[RK]:"And I followed instead the religion of my ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We never set up any idols beside GOD. Such is the blessing from GOD upon us and upon the people, but most people are unappreciative.

Walamma dakhaloo min haythuamarahum aboohum ma kana yughnee AAanhum mina Allahimin shay-in illa hajatan fee nafsi yaAAqooba qadahawa-innahu lathoo AAilmin lima AAallamnahuwalakinna akthara alnnasi layaAAlamoona

ولما دخلوا من حيث امرهم ابوهم ما كان يغني عنهم من الله من شئ الا حاجة في نفس يعقوب قضاها وانه لذو علم لما علمناه ولكن اكثر الناس لايعلمون

[YA]: And when they entered in the manner their father had enjoined, it did not profit them in the least against (the plan of) Allah: It was but a necessity of Jacob's soul, which he discharged. For he was, by our instruction, full of knowledge (and experience): but most men know not.

[RK]:When they went (to Joseph), they entered in accordance with their father's instructions. Although this could not change anything decreed by GOD, Jacob had a private reason for asking them to do this. For he possessed certain knowledge that we taught him, but most people do not know.

Wama arsalna min qablika illarijalan noohee ilayhim min ahli alquraafalam yaseeroo fee al-ardi fayanthurookayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihimwaladaru al-akhirati khayrun lillatheenaittaqaw afala taAAqiloona

وماارسلنا من قبلك الا رجالا نوحي اليهم من اهل القري افلم يسيروا في الارض فينظروا كيف كان عاقبة الذين من قبلهم ولدار الاخرة خير للذين اتقوا افلا تعقلون

[YA]: Nor did We send before thee (as messengers) any but men, whom we did inspire,- (men) living in human habitations. Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? But the home of the hereafter is best, for those who do right. Will ye not then understand?

[RK]:We did not send before you except men whom we inspired, chosen from the people of various communities. Did they not roam the earth and see the consequences for those before them? The abode of the Hereafter is far better for those who lead a righteous life. Would you then understand?

WayastaAAjiloonaka bialssayyi-atiqabla alhasanati waqad khalat min qablihimu almathulatuwa-inna rabbaka lathoo maghfiratin lilnnasiAAala thulmihim wa-inna rabbaka lashadeedualAAiqabi

ويستعجلونك بالسيئة قبل الحسنة وقد خلت من قبلهم المثلات وان ربك لذو مغفرة للناس علي ظلمهم وان ربك لشديد العقاب

[YA]: They ask thee to hasten on the evil in preference to the good: Yet have come to pass, before them, (many) exemplary punishments! But verily thy Lord is full of forgiveness for mankind for their wrong-doing, and verily thy Lord is (also) strict in punishment.

[RK]:They challenge you to bring doom upon them, rather than turning righteous! Sufficient precedents have been set for them in the past. Indeed, your Lord is full of forgiveness towards the people, in spite of their transgressions, and your Lord is also strict in enforcing retribution.

Lahu muAAaqqibatun min bayni yadayhiwamin khalfihi yahfathoonahu min amri Allahiinna Allaha la yughayyiru ma biqawmin hattayughayyiroo ma bi-anfusihim wa-itha aradaAllahu biqawmin soo-an fala maradda lahu wamalahum min doonihi min walin

له معقبات من بين يديه ومن خلفه يحفظونه من امر الله ان الله لايغير مابقوم حتي يغيروا مابانفسهم واذا اراد الله بقوم سوءا فلا مرد له ومالهم من دونه من وال

[YA]: For each (such person) there are (angels) in succession, before and behind him: They guard him by command of Allah. Allah does not change a people's lot unless they change what is in their hearts. But when (once) Allah willeth a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, nor will they find, besides Him, any to protect.

[RK]:Shifts (of angels) take turns, staying with each one of you - they are in front of you and behind you. They stay with you, and guard you in accordance with GOD's commands. Thus, GOD does not change the condition of any people unless they themselves make the decision to change. If GOD wills any hardship for any people, no force can stop it. For they have none beside Him as Lord and Master.

Waallatheena sabarooibtighaa wajhi rabbihim waaqamoo alssalatawaanfaqoo mimma razaqnahum sirran waAAalaniyatanwayadraoona bialhasanati alssayyi-ata ola-ikalahum AAuqba alddari

والذين صبروا ابتغاء وجه ربهم واقاموا الصلاة وانفقوا مما رزقناهم سرا وعلانية ويدرؤون بالحسنة السيئة اولئك لهم عقبي الدار

[YA]: Those who patiently persevere, seeking the countenance of their Lord; Establish regular prayers; spend, out of (the gifts) We have bestowed for their sustenance, secretly and openly; and turn off Evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (eternal) home,-

[RK]:They steadfastly persevere in seeking their Lord, observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), spend from our provisions to them secretly and publicly, and counter evil with good. These have deserved the best abode.

Salamun AAalaykum bima sabartumfaniAAma AAuqba alddari

سلام عليكم بما صبرتم فنعم عقبي الدار

[YA]: "Peace unto you for that ye persevered in patience! Now how excellent is the final home!"

[RK]:"Peace be upon you, because you steadfastly persevered. What a joyous destiny."

Walaqadi istuhzi-a birusulin min qablikafaamlaytu lillatheena kafaroo thumma akhathtuhumfakayfa kana AAiqabi

ولقد استهزي برسل من قبلك فامليت للذين كفروا ثم اخذتهم فكيف كان عقاب

[YA]: Mocked were (many) messengers before thee: but I granted respite to the unbelievers, and finally I punished them: Then how (terrible) was my requital!

[RK]:Messengers before you have been ridiculed; I permitted the disbelievers to carry on, then I punished them. How terrible was My retribution!

Mathalu aljannati allatee wuAAidaalmuttaqoona tajree min tahtiha al-anharuokuluha da-imun wathilluhatilka AAuqba allatheena ittaqaw waAAuqba alkafireenaalnnaru

مثل الجنة التي وعد المتقون تجري من تحتها الانهار اكلها دائم وظلها تلك عقبي الذين اتقوا وعقبي الكافرين النار

[YA]: The parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised!- beneath it flow rivers: perpetual is the enjoyment thereof and the shade therein: such is the end of the Righteous; and the end of Unbelievers in the Fire.

[RK]:The allegory of Heaven, which is promised for the righteous, is flowing streams, inexhaustible provisions, and cool shade. Such is the destiny for those who observe righteousness, while the destiny for the disbelievers is Hell.

Mathalu aljannati allatee wuAAidaalmuttaqoona tajree min tahtiha al-anharuokuluha da-imun wathilluhatilka AAuqba allatheena ittaqaw waAAuqba alkafireenaalnnaru

مثل الجنة التي وعد المتقون تجري من تحتها الانهار اكلها دائم وظلها تلك عقبي الذين اتقوا وعقبي الكافرين النار

Awa lam yaraw anna na/tee al-ardananqusuha min atrafiha waAllahuyahkumu la muAAaqqiba lihukmihi wahuwasareeAAu alhisabi

اولم يرواانا ناتي الارض ننقصها من اطرافها والله يحكم لامعقب لحكمه وهو سريع الحساب

[YA]: See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? (Where) Allah commands, there is none to put back His Command: and He is swift in calling to account.

[RK]:Do they not see that every day on earth, brings them closer to the end, and that GOD decides their life span, irrevocably? He is the most efficient Reckoner.

Waqad makara allatheena min qablihimfalillahi almakru jameeAAan yaAAlamu ma taksibukullu nafsin wasayaAAlamu alkuffaru liman AAuqba alddari

وقد مكر الذين من قبلهم فلله المكر جميعا يعلم ماتكسب كل نفس وسيعلم الكفار لمن عقبي الدار

[YA]: Those before them did (also) devise plots; but in all things the master-planning is Allah's He knoweth the doings of every soul: and soon will the Unbelievers know who gets home in the end.

[RK]:Others before them have schemed, but to GOD belongs the ultimate scheming. He knows what everyone is doing. The disbelievers will find out who the ultimate winners are.

Walaqad baAAathna fee kulli ommatinrasoolan ani oAAbudoo Allaha waijtaniboo alttaghootafaminhum man hada Allahu waminhum man haqqatAAalayhi alddalalatu faseeroo fee al-ardifaonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatualmukaththibeena

ولقد بعثنا في كل امة رسولا ان اعبدوا الله واجتنبوا الطاغوت فمنهم من هدي الله ومنهم من حقت عليه الضلالة فسيروا في الارض فانظروا كيف كان عاقبة المكذبين

[YA]: For We assuredly sent amongst every People a messenger, (with the Command), "Serve Allah, and eschew Evil": of the People were some whom Allah guided, and some on whom error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who denied (the Truth).

[RK]:We have sent a messenger to every community, saying, "You shall worship GOD, and avoid idolatry." Subsequently, some were guided by GOD, while others were committed to straying. Roam the earth and note the consequences for the rejectors.
