[YA]: Lost indeed are they who treat it as a falsehood that they must meet Allah,- until on a sudden the hour is on them, and they say: "Ah! woe unto us that we took no thought of it"; for they bear their burdens on their backs, and evil indeed are the burdens that they bear? [RK]:Losers indeed are those who disbelieve in meeting GOD, until the Hour comes to them suddenly, then say, "We deeply regret wasting our lives in this world." They will carry loads of their sins on their backs; what a miserable load!
2 | [6:40] Line:829 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Think ye to yourselves, if there come upon you the wrath of Allah, or the Hour (that ye dread), would ye then call upon other than Allah?- (reply) if ye are truthful! [RK]:Say, "What if GOD's retribution came to you, or the Hour came to you: would you implore other than GOD, if you are truthful?"
3 | [7:34] Line:988 |
| ||
[YA]: To every people is a term appointed: when their term is reached, not an hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in anticipation). [RK]:For each community, there is a predetermined life span. Once their interim comes to an end, they cannot delay it by one hour, nor advance it.
4 | [7:187] Line:1141 |
| ||
[YA]: They ask thee about the (final) Hour - when will be its appointed time? Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): None but He can reveal as to when it will occur. Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth. Only, all of a sudden will it come to you." They ask thee as if thou Wert eager in search thereof: Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone), but most men know not." [RK]:They ask you about the end of the world (the Hour), and when it will come to pass. Say, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord. Only He reveals its time. Heavy it is, in the heavens and the earth. It will not come to you except suddenly." They ask you as if you are in control thereof. Say, "The knowledge thereof is with GOD," but most people do not know.
5 | [9:117] Line:1352 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah turned with favour to the Prophet, the Muhajirs, and the Ansar,- who followed him in a time of distress, after that the hearts of a part of them had nearly swerved (from duty); but He turned to them (also): for He is unto them Most Kind, Most Merciful. [RK]:GOD has redeemed the prophet, and the immigrants (Muhajireen) and the supporters who hosted them and gave them refuge (Ansar), who followed him during the difficult times. That is when the hearts of some of them almost wavered. But He has redeemed them, for He is Compassionate towards them, Most Merciful.
6 | [10:45] Line:1409 |
| ||
[YA]: One day He will gather them together: (It will be) as if they had tarried but an hour of a day: they will recognise each other: assuredly those will be lost who denied the meeting with Allah and refused to receive true guidance. [RK]:On the day when He summons all of them, they will feel as if they lasted in this world one hour of the day, during which they met. Losers indeed are those who disbelieved in meeting GOD; and chose to be misguided.
7 | [10:49] Line:1413 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "I have no power over any harm or profit to myself except as Allah willeth. To every people is a term appointed: when their term is reached, not an hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in anticipation)." [RK]:Say, "I possess no power to harm myself, or benefit myself; only what GOD wills takes place." Each community has a predetermined life span. Once their interim comes to an end, they cannot delay it by one hour, nor advance it.
8 | [12:107] Line:1703 |
| ||
[YA]: Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the wrath of Allah,- or of the coming against them of the (final) Hour all of a sudden while they perceive not? [RK]:Have they guaranteed that an overwhelming retribution from GOD will not strike them, or the Hour will not come to them suddenly, when they least expect it?
9 | [15:85] Line:1887 |
| ||
[YA]: We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness. [RK]:We did not create the heavens and the earth, and everything between them, except for a specific purpose. The end of the world will come, so treat them with benign neglect.
10 | [16:61] Line:1962 |
| ||
[YA]: If Allah were to punish men for their wrong-doing, He would not leave, on the (earth), a single living creature: but He gives them respite for a stated Term: When their Term expires, they would not be able to delay (the punishment) for a single hour, just as they would not be able to anticipate it (for a single hour). [RK]:If GOD punished the people for their transgressions, He would have annihilated every creature on earth. But He respites them for a specific, predetermined time. Once their interim ends, they cannot delay it by one hour, nor advance it.
11 | [16:77] Line:1978 |
| ||
[YA]: To Allah belongeth the Mystery of the heavens and the earth. And the Decision of the Hour (of Judgment) is as the twingkling of an eye, or even quicker: for Allah hath power over all things. [RK]:To GOD belongs the future of the heavens and the earth. As far as He is concerned, the end of the world (the Hour) is a blink of an eye away, or even closer. GOD is Omnipotent.
12 | [18:21] Line:2161 |
| ||
[YA]: Thus did We make their case known to the people, that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour of Judgment. Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. (Some) said, "Construct a building over them": Their Lord knows best about them: those who prevailed over their affair said, "Let us surely build a place of worship over them." [RK]:We caused them to be discovered, to let everyone know that GOD's promise is true, and to remove all doubt concerning the end of the world. The people then disputed among themselves regarding them. Some said, "Let us build a building around them." Their Lord is the best knower about them. Those who prevailed said, "We will build a place of worship around them."
13 | [18:36] Line:2176 |
| ||
[YA]: "Nor do I deem that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) come: Even if I am brought back to my Lord, I shall surely find (there) something better in exchange." [RK]:"Moreover, I think this is it; I do not think that the Hour (the Hereafter) will ever come to pass. Even if I am returned to my Lord, I will (be clever enough to) possess an even better one over there."
14 | [19:75] Line:2325 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "If any men go astray, (Allah) Most Gracious extends (the rope) to them, until, when they see the warning of Allah (being fulfilled) - either in punishment or in (the approach of) the Hour,- they will at length realise who is worst in position, and (who) weakest in forces! [RK]:Say, "Those who choose to go astray, the Most Gracious will lead them on, until they see what is promised for them - either the retribution or the Hour. That is when they find out who really is worse off, and weaker in power."
15 | [20:15] Line:2363 |
| ||
[YA]: "Verily the Hour is coming - My design is to keep it hidden - for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour. [RK]:"The Hour (end of the world) is surely coming; I will keep it almost hidden, for each soul must be paid for its works.
16 | [21:49] Line:2532 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who fear their Lord in their most secret thoughts, and who hold the Hour (of Judgment) in awe. [RK]:The ones who reverence their Lord, even when alone in their privacy, and they worry about the Hour.
17 | [22:1] Line:2596 |
| ||
[YA]: O mankind! fear your Lord! for the convulsion of the Hour (of Judgment) will be a thing terrible! [RK]:O people, you shall reverence your Lord, for the quaking of the Hour is something horrendous.
18 | [22:7] Line:2602 |
| ||
[YA]: And verily the Hour will come: there can be no doubt about it, or about (the fact) that Allah will raise up all who are in the graves. [RK]:And that the Hour is coming, no doubt about it, and that GOD resurrects those who are in the graves.
19 | [22:55] Line:2650 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who reject Faith will not cease to be in doubt concerning (Revelation) until the Hour (of Judgment) comes suddenly upon them, or there comes to them the Penalty of a Day of Disaster. [RK]:As for those who disbelieve, they will continue to harbor doubts until the Hour comes to them suddenly, or until the retribution of a terrible day comes to them.
20 | [25:11] Line:2866 |
| ||
[YA]: Nay they deny the hour (of the judgment to come): but We have prepared a blazing fire for such as deny the hour: [RK]:In fact, they have disbelieved in the Hour (Day of Resurrection), and we have prepared for those who disbelieve in the Hour a flaming Hell.
21 | [25:11] Line:2866 |
| ||
22 | [30:12] Line:3421 |
| ||
[YA]: On the Day that the Hour will be established, the guilty will be struck dumb with despair. [RK]:On the Day when the Hour comes to pass, the guilty will be shocked.
23 | [30:14] Line:3423 |
| ||
[YA]: On the Day that the Hour will be established,- that Day shall (all men) be sorted out. [RK]:On the day when the Hour comes to pass, they will part company.
24 | [30:55] Line:3464 |
| ||
[YA]: On the Day that the Hour (of Reckoning) will be established, the transgressors will swear that they tarried not but an hour: thus were they used to being deluded! [RK]:On the day when the Hour comes to pass, the guilty will swear that they lasted (in this world) only one hour. That is how wrong they were.
25 | [30:55] Line:3464 |
| ||
26 | [31:34] Line:3503 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah (alone). It is He Who sends down rain, and He Who knows what is in the wombs. Nor does any one know what it is that he will earn on the morrow: Nor does any one know in what land he is to die. Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted (with all things). [RK]:With GOD is the knowledge about the Hour (end of the world). He is the One who sends down the rain, and He knows the contents of the womb. No soul knows what will happen to it tomorrow, and no one knows in which land he or she will die. GOD is Omniscient, Cognizant.
27 | [33:63] Line:3596 |
| ||
[YA]: Men ask thee concerning the Hour: Say, "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone)": and what will make thee understand?- perchance the Hour is nigh! [RK]:The people ask you about the Hour (end of the world). Say, "The knowledge thereof is only with GOD. For all that you know, the Hour may be close."
28 | [33:63] Line:3596 |
| ||
29 | [34:3] Line:3609 |
| ||
[YA]: The Unbelievers say, "Never to us will come the Hour": Say, "Nay! but most surely, by my Lord, it will come upon you;- by Him Who knows the unseen,- from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in the heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or greater, but is in the Record Perspicuous: [RK]:Those who disbelieve have said, "The Hour will never come to pass!" Say, "Absolutely - by my Lord - it will most certainly come to you. He is the Knower of the future. Not even the equivalent of an atom's weight is hidden from Him, be it in the heavens or the earth. Not even smaller than that, or larger (is hidden). All are in a profound record."
30 | [34:30] Line:3636 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "The appointment to you is for a Day, which ye cannot put back for an hour nor put forward." [RK]:Say, "You have a specific time, on a specific day, that you cannot delay by one hour, nor advance."
31 | [40:46] Line:4179 |
| ||
[YA]: In front of the Fire will they be brought, morning and evening: And (the sentence will be) on the Day that Judgment will be established: "Cast ye the People of Pharaoh into the severest Penalty!" [RK]:The Hell will be shown to them day and night, and on the Day of Resurrection: "Admit Pharaoh's people into the worst retribution."
32 | [40:59] Line:4192 |
| ||
[YA]: The Hour will certainly come: Therein is no doubt: Yet most men believe not. [RK]:Most certainly, the Hour (Day of Judgment) is coming, no doubt about it, but most people do not believe.
33 | [41:47] Line:4265 |
| ||
[YA]: To Him is referred the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment: He knows all): No date-fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb) nor bring forth the Day that (Allah) will propound to them the (question), "Where are the partners (ye attributed to Me?" They will say, "We do assure thee not one of us can bear witness!" [RK]:With Him is the knowledge about the Hour (end of the world). No fruits emerge from their sheaths, nor does any female conceive or give birth, without His knowledge. The day will come when He asks them: "Where are those idols that you set up beside Me?" They will say, "We proclaim to You that none of us bears witness to that."
34 | [41:50] Line:4268 |
| ||
[YA]: When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty. [RK]:And when we bless him after suffering some adversity, he says, "This belongs to me. I do not believe that the Hour will ever come to pass. Even if I am returned to my Lord, I will find at Him better things." Most certainly, we will inform the disbelievers of all their works, and will commit them to severe retribution.
35 | [42:17] Line:4289 |
| ||
[YA]: It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realise that perhaps the Hour is close at hand? [RK]:GOD is the One who sent down the scripture, to deliver the truth and the law. For all that you know, the Hour (Day of Judgment) may be very close.
36 | [42:18] Line:4290 |
| ||
[YA]: Only those wish to hasten it who believe not in it: those who believe hold it in awe, and know that it is the Truth. Behold, verily those that dispute concerning the Hour are far astray. [RK]:Challenging it are those who do not believe in it. As for those who believe, they are concerned about it, and they know that it is the truth. Absolutely, those who deny the Hour have gone far astray.
37 | [43:61] Line:4386 |
| ||
[YA]: And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. [RK]:He is to serve as a marker for knowing the end of the world, so you can no longer harbor any doubt about it. You shall follow Me; this is the right path.
38 | [43:66] Line:4391 |
| ||
[YA]: Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? [RK]:Are they waiting for the Hour (Day of Judgment) to come to them suddenly when they least expect it?
39 | [43:85] Line:4410 |
| ||
[YA]: And blessed is He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all between them: with Him is the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment): and to Him shall ye be brought back. [RK]:Most Exalted is the One who possesses all sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them. With Him is the knowledge about the Hour (end of the world), and to Him you will be returned.
40 | [45:27] Line:4500 |
| ||
[YA]: To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and the Day that the Hour of Judgment is established,- that Day will the dealers in Falsehood perish! [RK]:To GOD belongs all sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. The day the Hour (Judgment) comes to pass, that is when the falsifiers lose.
41 | [45:32] Line:4505 |
| ||
[YA]: "And when it was said that the promise of Allah was true, and that the Hour- there was no doubt about its (coming), ye used to say, 'We know not what is the hour: we only think it is an idea, and we have no firm assurance.'" [RK]:When it is proclaimed that GOD's promise is the truth and that the Hour (of Judgment) is inevitable, you said, "We do not know what the Hour is! We are full of conjecture about it; we are not certain."
42 | [45:32] Line:4505 |
| ||
43 | [46:35] Line:4545 |
| ||
[YA]: Therefore patiently persevere, as did (all) messengers of inflexible purpose; and be in no haste about the (Unbelievers). On the Day that they see the (Punishment) promised them, (it will be) as if they had not tarried more than an hour in a single day. (Thine but) to proclaim the Message: but shall any be destroyed except those who transgress? [RK]:Therefore, be patient like the messengers before you who possessed strength and resorted to patience. Do not be in a hurry to see the retribution that will inevitably come to them. The day they see it, it will seem as if they lasted one hour of the day. This is a proclamation: Is it not the wicked who are consistently annihilated?
44 | [47:18] Line:4563 |
| ||
[YA]: Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on them of a sudden? But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition? [RK]:Are they waiting until the Hour comes to them suddenly? All the signs thereof have already come. Once the Hour comes to them, how will they benefit from their message?
45 | [54:1] Line:4847 |
| ||
[YA]: The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. [RK]:The Hour has come closer, and the moon has split.
46 | [54:46] Line:4892 |
| ||
[YA]: Nay, the Hour (of Judgment) is the time promised them (for their full recompense): And that Hour will be most grievous and most bitter. [RK]:The Hour is awaiting them, and the Hour is far worse and more painful.
47 | [54:46] Line:4892 |
| ||
[YA]: Nay, the Hour (of Judgment) is the time promised them (for their full recompense): And that Hour will be most grievous and most bitter. [RK]:The Hour is awaiting them, and the Hour is far worse and more painful.
48 | [79:42] Line:5754 |
| ||
[YA]: They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time? [RK]:They ask you about the Hour, and when it will take place!
