Aynama takoonoo yudrikkumu almawtuwalaw kuntum fee buroojin mushayyadatin wa-in tusibhum hasanatunyaqooloo hathihi min AAindi Allahi wa-in tusibhumsayyi-atun yaqooloo hathihi min AAindika qul kullun minAAindi Allahi famali haola-i alqawmila yakadoona yafqahoona hadeethan

اينما تكونوا يدرككم الموت ولو كنتم في بروج مشيدة وان تصبهم حسنة يقولوا هذه من عند الله وان تصبهم سيئة يقولوا هذه من عندك قل كل من عند الله فمال هؤلاء القوم لايكادون يفقهون حديثا

[YA]: "Wherever ye are, death will find you out, even if ye are in towers built up strong and high!" If some good befalls them, they say, "This is from Allah"; but if evil, they say, "This is from thee" (O Prophet). Say: "All things are from Allah." But what hath come to these people, that they fail to understand a single fact?

[RK]:Wherever you are, death will catch up with you, even if you live in formidable castles. When something good happens to them, they say, "This is from GOD," and when something bad afflicts them, they blame you. Say, "Everything comes from GOD." Why do these people misunderstand almost everything?

Waman yuhajir fee sabeeli Allahiyajid fee al-ardi muraghaman katheeran wasaAAatanwaman yakhruj min baytihi muhajiran ila Allahiwarasoolihi thumma yudrik-hu almawtu faqad waqaAAa ajruhu AAalaAllahi wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

ومن يهاجر في سبيل الله يجد في الارض مراغما كثيرا وسعة ومن يخرج من بيته مهاجرا الي الله ورسوله ثم يدركه الموت فقد وقع اجره علي الله وكان الله غفورا رحيما

[YA]: He who forsakes his home in the cause of Allah, finds in the earth Many a refuge, wide and spacious: Should he die as a refugee from home for Allah and His Messenger, His reward becomes due and sure with Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

[RK]:Anyone who emigrates in the cause of GOD will find on earth great bounties and richness. Anyone who gives up his home, emigrating to GOD and His messenger, then death catches up with him, his recompense is reserved with GOD. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Inna almunafiqeena fee alddarkial-asfali mina alnnari walan tajida lahum naseeran

ان المنافقين في الدرك الاسفل من النار ولن تجد لهم نصيرا

[YA]: The Hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire: no helper wilt thou find for them;-

[RK]:The hypocrites will be committed to the lowest pit of Hell, and you will find no one to help them.

La tudrikuhu al-absaru wahuwayudriku al-absara wahuwa allateefu alkhabeeru

لاتدركه الابصار وهو يدرك الابصار وهو اللطيف الخبير

[YA]: No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.

[RK]:No visions can encompass Him, but He encompasses all visions. He is the Compassionate, the Cognizant.

لاتدركه الابصار وهو يدرك الابصار وهو اللطيف الخبير

Qala odkhuloo fee omamin qad khalatmin qablikum mina aljinni waal-insi fee alnnarikullama dakhalat ommatun laAAanat okhtaha hattaitha iddarakoo feeha jameeAAan qalatokhrahum li-oolahum rabbana haola-iadalloona faatihim AAathaban diAAfanmina alnnari qala likullin diAAfunwalakin la taAAlamoona

قال ادخلوا في امم قد خلت من قبلكم من الجن والانس في النار كلما دخلت امة لعنت اختها حتي اذا اداركوا فيها جميعا قالت اخراهم لاولاهم ربنا هؤلاء اضلونا فاتهم عذابا ضعفا من النار قال لكل ضعف ولكن لاتعلمون

[YA]: He will say: "Enter ye in the company of the peoples who passed away before you - men and jinns, - into the Fire." Every time a new people enters, it curses its sister-people (that went before), until they follow each other, all into the Fire. Saith the last about the first: "Our Lord! it is these that misled us: so give them a double penalty in the Fire." He will say: "Doubled for all" : but this ye do not understand.

[RK]:He will say, "Enter with the previous communities of jinns and humans into Hell." Every time a group enters, they will curse their ancestral group. Once they are all in it, the latest one will say of the previous one, "Our Lord, these are the ones who misled us. Give them double the retribution of Hell." He will say, "Each receives double, but you do not know."

Qul law shaa Allahu matalawtuhu AAalaykum wala adrakum bihi faqadlabithtu feekum AAumuran min qablihi afala taAAqiloona

قل لو شاء الله ماتلوته عليكم ولاادراكم به فقد لبثت فيكم عمرا من قبله افلا تعقلون

[YA]: Say: "If Allah had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. A whole life-time before this have I tarried amongst you: will ye not then understand?"

[RK]:Say, "Had GOD willed, I would not have recited it to you, nor would you have known anything about it. I have lived among you a whole life before this (and you have known me as a sane, truthful person). Do you not understand?"

Wajawazna bibanee isra-eelaalbahra faatbaAAahum firAAawnu wajunooduhu baghyanwaAAadwan hatta itha adrakahu algharaqu qalaamantu annahu la ilaha illa allatheeamanat bihi banoo isra-eela waana minaalmuslimeena

وجاوزنا ببني اسرائيل البحر فاتبعهم فرعون وجنوده بغيا وعدوا حتي اذا ادركه الغرق قال امنت انه لا اله الا الذي امنت به بنو اسرائيل وانا من المسلمين

[YA]: We took the Children of Israel across the sea: Pharaoh and his hosts followed them in insolence and spite. At length, when overwhelmed with the flood, he said: "I believe that there is no god except Him Whom the Children of Israel believe in: I am of those who submit (to Allah in Islam)."

[RK]:We delivered the Children of Israel across the sea. Pharaoh and his troops pursued them, aggressively and sinfully. When drowning became a reality for him, he said, "I believe that there is no god except the One in whom the Children of Israel have believed; I am a submitter."

Walaqad awhayna ilamoosa an asri biAAibadee faidriblahum tareeqan fee albahri yabasan la takhafudarakan wala takhsha

ولقد اوحينا الي موسي ان اسر بعبادي فاضرب لهم طريقا في البحر يبسا لاتخاف دركا ولاتخشي

[YA]: We sent an inspiration to Moses: "Travel by night with My servants, and strike a dry path for them through the sea, without fear of being overtaken (by Pharaoh) and without (any other) fear."

[RK]:We inspired Moses: "Lead My servants out, and strike for them a dry road across the sea. You shall not fear that you may get caught, nor shall you worry."

Falamma taraa aljamAAaniqala as-habu moosa innalamudrakoona

فلما تراء الجمعان قال اصحاب موسي انا لمدركون

[YA]: And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken."

[RK]:When both parties saw each other, Moses' people said, "We will be caught."

Bali iddaraka AAilmuhum fee al-akhiratibal hum fee shakkin minha bal hum minha AAamoona

بل ادارك علمهم في الاخرة بل هم في شك منها بل هم منها عمون

[YA]: Still less can their knowledge comprehend the Hereafter: Nay, they are in doubt and uncertainty thereanent; nay, they are blind thereunto!

[RK]:In fact, their knowledge concerning the Hereafter is confused. In fact, they harbor doubts about it. In fact, they are totally heedless thereof.

Yas-aluka alnnasu AAani alssaAAatiqul innama AAilmuha AAinda Allahi wamayudreeka laAAalla alssaAAata takoonu qareeban

يسالك الناس عن الساعة قل انما علمها عند الله ومايدريك لعل الساعة تكون قريبا

[YA]: Men ask thee concerning the Hour: Say, "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone)": and what will make thee understand?- perchance the Hour is nigh!

[RK]:The people ask you about the Hour (end of the world). Say, "The knowledge thereof is only with GOD. For all that you know, the Hour may be close."

La alshshamsu yanbaghee lahaan tudrika alqamara wala allaylu sabiqu alnnahariwakullun fee falakin yasbahoona

لاالشمس ينبغي لها ان تدرك القمر و لا الهيل سابق النهار وكل في فلك يسبحون

[YA]: It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).

[RK]:The sun is never to catch up with the moon - the night and the day never deviate - each of them is floating in its own orbit.

Allahu allathee anzala alkitababialhaqqi waalmeezani wamayudreeka laAAalla alssaAAata qareebun

الله الذي انزل الكتاب بالحق والميزان ومايدريك لعل الساعة قريب

[YA]: It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realise that perhaps the Hour is close at hand?

[RK]:GOD is the One who sent down the scripture, to deliver the truth and the law. For all that you know, the Hour (Day of Judgment) may be very close.

Lawla an tadarakahu niAAmatunmin rabbihi lanubitha bialAAara-i wahuwa mathmoomun

لولا ان تداركه نعمة من ربه لنبذ بالعراء وهو مذموم

[YA]: Had not Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been cast off on the naked shore, in disgrace.

[RK]:If it were not for his Lord's grace, he would have been ejected into the desert as a sinner.

وماادراك ماالحاقة

[YA]: And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is?

[RK]:It is truly incontestable.

[YA]: And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is?

[RK]:What retribution!

[RK]:What a Day of Decision!

[YA]: But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-

[RK]:How do you know? He may purify himself.

وماادراك مايوم الدين

[YA]: And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

[RK]:Awesome is the Day of Judgment.

ثم ماادراك مايوم الدين

[YA]: Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

[RK]:What a day; the Day of Judgment!

[YA]: And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?

[RK]:Do you know what Sijjeen is?

[YA]: And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is?

[RK]:Do you know what `Elleyyeen is?

[RK]:Which one is the difficult path?

[RK]:How awesome is the Night of Destiny!

[RK]:Do you have any idea what the Shocker is?

[YA]: And what will explain to thee what this is?

[RK]:Do you know what it is?

[RK]:Do you know what the Devastator is?
