[YA]: Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous.

[RK]:It will envelope the people; this is a painful retribution.

[YA]: He hears the Signs of Allah rehearsed to him, yet is obstinate and lofty, as if he had not heard them: then announce to him a Penalty Grievous!

[RK]:The one who hears GOD's revelations recited to him, then insists arrogantly on his way, as if he never heard them. Promise him a painful retribution.

[YA]: This is (true) Guidance and for those who reject the Signs of their Lord, is a grievous Penalty of abomination.

[RK]:This is a beacon, and those who disbelieve in these revelations of their Lord have incurred condemnation and a painful retribution.

[YA]: Then, when they saw the (Penalty in the shape of) a cloud traversing the sky, coming to meet their valleys, they said, "This cloud will give us rain!" "Nay, it is the (Calamity) ye were asking to be hastened!- A wind wherein is a Grievous Penalty!

[RK]:When they saw the storm heading their way, they said, "This storm will bring to us much needed rain." Instead, this is what you challenged (Hood) to bring; violent wind wherein there is painful retribution.

Ya qawmana ajeeboo daAAiyaAllahi waaminoo bihi yaghfir lakum min thunoobikumwayujirkum min AAathabin aleeminياقومنا اجيبوا داعي الله وامنوا به يغفر لكم من ذنوبكم ويجركم من عذاب اليم
[YA]: "O our people, hearken to the one who invites (you) to Allah, and believe in him: He will forgive you your faults, and deliver you from a Penalty Grievous.

[RK]:"O our people, respond to the call of GOD, and believe in Him. He will then forgive your sins, and spare you a painful retribution."

[YA]: So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame.

[RK]:Consequently, we punished him and his troops. We threw them into the sea, and he is the one to blame.

Faman lam yajid fasiyamushahrayni mutatabiAAayni min qabli an yatamassafaman lam yastatiAA fa-itAAamu sitteenamiskeenan thalika litu/minoo biAllahiwarasoolihi watilka hudoodu Allahi walilkafireenaAAathabun aleemunفمن لم يجد فصيام شهرين متتابعين من قبل ان يتماسا فمن لم يستطع فاطعام ستين مسكينا ذلك لتؤمنوا بالله ورسوله وتلك حدود الله وللكافرين عذاب اليم
[YA]: And if any has not (the wherewithal), he should fast for two months consecutively before they touch each other. But if any is unable to do so, he should feed sixty indigent ones, this, that ye may show your faith in Allah and His Messenger. Those are limits (set by) Allah. For those who reject (Him), there is a grievous Penalty.

[RK]:If you cannot find a slave to free, you shall fast two consecutive months before resuming sexual relations. If you cannot fast, then you shall feed sixty poor people. You shall believe in GOD and His messenger. These are GOD's laws. The disbelievers have incurred a painful retribution.

Kamathali allatheena min qablihimqareeban thaqoo wabala amrihim walahum AAathabunaleemunكمثل الذين من قبلهم قريبا ذاقوا وبال امرهم ولهم عذاب اليم
[YA]: Like those who lately preceded them, they have tasted the evil result of their conduct; and (in the Hereafter there is) for them a grievous Penalty;-

[RK]:Their fate is the same as their counterparts who preceded them. They suffered the consequences of their decisions. They have incurred a painful retribution.

[YA]: O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous Penalty?-

[RK]:O you who believe, let Me inform you of a trade that will save you from painful retribution.

[YA]: Has not the story reached you, of those who rejected Faith aforetime? So they tasted the evil result of their conduct; and they had a grievous Penalty.

[RK]:Have you noted those who disbelieved in the past, then suffered the consequences of their decision? They incurred a painful retribution.

Qul araaytum in ahlakaniya Allahuwaman maAAiya aw rahimana faman yujeeru alkafireenamin AAathabin aleeminقل ارايتم ان اهلكني الله ومن معي او رحمنا فمن يجير الكافرين من عذاب اليم
[YA]: Say: "See ye?- If Allah were to destroy me, and those with me, or if He bestows His Mercy on us,- yet who can deliver the Unbelievers from a grievous Penalty?"

[RK]:Say, "Whether GOD decides to annihilate me and those with me, or to shower us with His mercy, who is there to protect the disbelievers from a painful retribution?"

Inna arsalna noohan ilaqawmihi an anthir qawmaka min qabli an ya/tiyahum AAathabunaleemunانا ارسلنا نوحا الي قومه ان انذر قومك من قبل ان ياتيهم عذاب اليم
[YA]: We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty."

[RK]:We sent Noah to his people: "You shall warn your people before a painful retribution afflicts them."

[YA]: So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,
