[YA]: He said: "O my Lord! How shall I have son, seeing I am very old, and my wife is barren?" "Thus," was the answer, "Doth Allah accomplish what He willeth."
[RK]:He said, "How can I have a boy, when I am so old, and my wife is sterile?" He said, "GOD does whatever He wills."
[YA]: Then there came a caravan of travellers: they sent their water-carrier (for water), and he let down his bucket (into the well)...He said: "Ah there! Good news! Here is a (fine) young man!" So they concealed him as a treasure! But Allah knoweth well all that they do!
[RK]:A caravan passed by, and soon sent their waterer. He let down his bucket, then said, "How lucky! There is a boy here!" They took him along as merchandise, and GOD was fully aware of what they did.
[YA]: They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom."
[RK]:They said, "Do not be apprehensive. We have good news for you: an enlightened son."
[YA]: Then they proceeded: until, when they met a young man, he slew him. Moses said: "Hast thou slain an innocent person who had slain none? Truly a foul (unheard of) thing hast thou done!"
[RK]:So they went. When they met a young boy, he killed him. He said, "Why did you kill such an innocent person, who did not kill another person? You have committed something horrendous."
[YA]: "As for the youth, his parents were people of Faith, and we feared that he would grieve them by obstinate rebellion and ingratitude (to Allah and man).
[RK]:"As for the boy, his parents were good believers, and we saw that he was going to burden them with his transgression and disbelief.
[YA]: "As for the wall, it belonged to two youths, orphans, in the Town; there was, beneath it, a buried treasure, to which they were entitled: their father had been a righteous man: So thy Lord desired that they should attain their age of full strength and get out their treasure - a mercy (and favour) from thy Lord. I did it not of my own accord. Such is the interpretation of (those things) over which thou wast unable to hold patience."
[RK]:"As for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city. Under it, there was a treasure that belonged to them. Because their father was a righteous man, your Lord wanted them to grow up and attain full strength, then extract their treasure. Such is mercy from your Lord. I did none of that of my own volition. This is the explanation of the things you could not stand."
[YA]: (His prayer was answered): "O Zakariya! We give thee good news of a son: His name shall be Yahya: on none by that name have We conferred distinction before."
[RK]:"O Zachariah, we give you good news; a boy whose name shall be John (Yahya). We never created anyone like him before."
[YA]: He said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren and I have grown quite decrepit from old age?"
[RK]:He said, "My Lord, will I have a son despite my wife's sterility, and despite my old age?"
[YA]: He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.
[RK]:He said, "I am the messenger of your Lord, to grant you a pure son."
[YA]: She said: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?"
[RK]:She said, "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me; I have never been unchaste."
[YA]: So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.
[RK]:We gave him good news of a good child.
[YA]: (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge.
[RK]:He harbored fear of them. They said, "Have no fear," and they gave good news of a knowledgeable son.
[YA]: Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded.
[RK]:Serving them will be servants like protected pearls.
