[YA]: There is the type of man whose speech about this world's life May dazzle thee, and he calls Allah to witness about what is in his heart; yet is he the most contentious of enemies. [RK]:Among the people, one may impress you with his utterances concerning this life, and may even call upon GOD to witness his innermost thoughts, while he is a most ardent opponent. | ||||

[YA]: This is part of the tidings of the things unseen, which We reveal unto thee (O Messenger!) by inspiration: Thou wast not with them when they cast lots with arrows, as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary: Nor wast thou with them when they disputed (the point). [RK]:This is news from the past that we reveal to you. You were not there when they drew their raffles to select Mary's guardian. You were not present when they argued with one another. | ||||

[YA]: We have sent down to thee the Book in truth, that thou mightest judge between men, as guided by Allah: so be not (used) as an advocate by those who betray their trust; [RK]:We have sent down to you the scripture, truthfully, in order to judge among the people in accordance with what GOD has shown you. You shall not side with the betrayers. | ||||

[YA]: He has created man from a sperm-drop; and behold this same (man) becomes an open disputer! [RK]:He created the human from a tiny drop, then he turns into an ardent opponent. | ||||

[YA]: These two antagonists dispute with each other about their Lord: But those who deny (their Lord),- for them will be cut out a garment of Fire: over their heads will be poured out boiling water. [RK]:Here are two parties feuding with regard to their Lord. As for those who disbelieve, they will have clothes of fire tailored for them. Hellish liquid will be poured on top of their heads. | ||||

[YA]: We sent (aforetime), to the Thamud, their brother Salih, saying, "Serve Allah": But behold, they became two factions quarrelling with each other. [RK]:We have sent to Thamoud their brother Saaleh, saying, "You shall worship GOD." But they turned into two feuding factions. | ||||

[YA]: They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves! [RK]:All they see will be one blow that overwhelms them, while they dispute. | ||||

[YA]: Doth not man see that it is We Who created him from sperm? yet behold! he (stands forth) as an open adversary! [RK]:Does the human being not see that we created him from a tiny drop, then he turns into an ardent enemy? | ||||

[YA]: Has the Story of the Disputants reached thee? Behold, they climbed over the wall of the private chamber; [RK]:Have you received news of the feuding men who sneaked into his sanctuary? | ||||

[YA]: When they entered the presence of David, and he was terrified of them, they said: "Fear not: we are two disputants, one of whom has wronged the other: Decide now between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, but guide us to the even Path.. [RK]:When they entered his room, he was startled. They said, "Have no fear. We are feuding with one another, and we are seeking your fair judgment. Do not wrong us, and guide us in the right path. | ||||

[YA]: Truly that is just and fitting,- the mutual recriminations of the People of the Fire! [RK]:This is a predetermined fact: the people of Hell will feud with one another. | ||||

[YA]: "No knowledge have I of the Chiefs on high, when they discuss (matters) among themselves. [RK]:"I had no knowledge previously, about the feud in the High Society. | ||||

[YA]: In the end will ye (all), on the Day of Judgment, settle your disputes in the presence of your Lord. [RK]:On the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, you people will feud with one another. | ||||

[YA]: Is then one brought up among trinkets, and unable to give a clear account in a dispute (to be associated with Allah)? [RK]:(They say,) "What is good about an offspring that is brought up to be beautiful, and cannot help in war?" | ||||

[YA]: And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people. [RK]:They said, "Is it better to worship our gods, or to worship him?" They said this only to argue with you. Indeed, they are people who have joined the opposition. | ||||

[YA]: He will say: "Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already in advance sent you Warning. [RK]:He said, "Do not feud in front of Me; I have sufficiently warned you. | ||||
