[YA]: Or do they say, "He has forged it"? Nay, it is the Truth from thy Lord, that thou mayest admonish a people to whom no warner has come before thee: in order that they may receive guidance. [RK]:They said, "He fabricated it." Indeed, this is the truth from your Lord, to warn people who never received a warner before you, that they may be guided. | ||||

[YA]: And indeed We will make them taste of the Penalty of this (life) prior to the supreme Penalty, in order that they may (repent and) return. [RK]:We let them taste the smaller retribution (of this world), before they incur the greater retribution (of the Hereafter), that they may (take a hint and) reform. | ||||

[YA]: Men ask thee concerning the Hour: Say, "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone)": and what will make thee understand?- perchance the Hour is nigh! [RK]:The people ask you about the Hour (end of the world). Say, "The knowledge thereof is only with GOD. For all that you know, the Hour may be close." | ||||

[YA]: Nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike,- the one palatable, sweet, and pleasant to drink, and the other, salt and bitter. Yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah that ye may be grateful. [RK]:The two seas are not the same; one is fresh and delicious, while the other is salty and undrinkable. From each of them you eat tender meat, and extract jewelry to wear. And you see the ships sailing through them, seeking His provisions, that you may be appreciative. | ||||

[YA]: When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). [RK]:Yet, when they are told, "Learn from your past, to work righteousness for your future, that you may attain mercy," | ||||

[YA]: Yet they take (for worship) gods other than Allah, (hoping) that they might be helped! [RK]:They set up beside GOD other gods, perhaps they can be of help to them! | ||||

[YA]: We have put forth for men, in this Qur'an every kind of Parable, in order that they may receive admonition. [RK]:We have cited for the people every kind of example in this Quran, that they may take heed. | ||||

[YA]: It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm-drop, then from a leech-like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old,- though of you there are some who die before;- and lets you reach a Term appointed; in order that ye may learn wisdom. [RK]:He is the One who created you from dust, and subsequently from a tiny drop, then from a hanging embryo, then He brings you out as a child, then He lets you reach maturity, then you become old - some of you die earlier. You attain a predetermined age, that you may understand. | ||||

[YA]: The Unbelievers say: "Listen not to this Qur'an, but talk at random in the midst of its (reading), that ye may gain the upper hand!" [RK]:Those who disbelieved said, "Do not listen to this Quran and distort it, that you may win." | ||||

[YA]: It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realise that perhaps the Hour is close at hand? [RK]:GOD is the One who sent down the scripture, to deliver the truth and the law. For all that you know, the Hour (Day of Judgment) may be very close. | ||||

[YA]: We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). [RK]:We have rendered it an Arabic Quran, that you may understand. | ||||

[YA]: And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. [RK]:It is preserved with us in the original master, honorable and full of wisdom. | ||||

[YA]: (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); [RK]:He is the One who made the earth habitable for you, and created for you roads therein, that you may follow the right way. | ||||

[YA]: And he left it as a Word to endure among those who came after him, that they may turn back (to Allah). [RK]:This example (of Abraham) was rendered an everlasting lesson for subsequent generations; perhaps they redeem their souls. | ||||

[YA]: We showed them Sign after Sign, each greater than its fellow, and We seized them with Punishment, in order that they might turn (to Us). [RK]:Every sign we showed them was bigger than the one before it. We afflicted them with the plagues, perhaps they repent. | ||||

[YA]: Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed. [RK]:We have thus clarified it in your language, that they may take heed. | ||||

[YA]: It is Allah Who has subjected the sea to you, that ships may sail through it by His command, that ye may seek of his Bounty, and that ye may be grateful. [RK]:GOD is the One who committed the sea in your service, so that the ships can roam it in accordance with His laws. You thus seek His provisions, that you may be appreciative. | ||||

[YA]: We destroyed aforetime populations round about you; and We have shown the Signs in various ways, that they may turn (to Us). [RK]:We have annihilated many communities around you, after we had explained the proofs, that they might repent. | ||||

[YA]: The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive Mercy. [YA]: And of every thing We have created pairs: That ye may receive instruction. [RK]:We created a pair (male and female) of everything, that you may take heed. | ||||

[YA]: Know ye (all) that Allah giveth life to the earth after its death! already have We shown the Signs plainly to you, that ye may learn wisdom. [RK]:Know that GOD revives the land after it had died. We thus explain the revelations for you, that you may understand. | ||||

[YA]: Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain, verily, thou wouldst have seen it humble itself and cleave asunder for fear of Allah. Such are the similitudes which We propound to men, that they may reflect. [RK]:If we revealed this Quran to a mountain, you would see it trembling, crumbling, out of reverence for GOD. We cite these examples for the people, that they may reflect. | ||||

[YA]: And when the Prayer is finished, then may ye disperse through the land, and seek of the Bounty of Allah: and celebrate the Praises of Allah often (and without stint): that ye may prosper. [RK]:Once the prayer is completed, you may spread through the land to seek GOD's bounties, and continue to remember GOD frequently, that you may succeed. | ||||

[YA]: O Prophet! When ye do divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods, and count (accurately), their prescribed periods: And fear Allah your Lord: and turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open lewdness, those are limits set by Allah: and any who transgresses the limits of Allah, does verily wrong his (own) soul: thou knowest not if perchance Allah will bring about thereafter some new situation. [RK]:O you prophet, when you people divorce the women, you shall ensure that a divorce interim is fulfilled. You shall measure such an interim precisely. You shall reverence GOD your Lord. Do not evict them from their homes, nor shall you make life miserable for them, to force them to leave on their own, unless they commit a proven adultery. These are GOD's laws. Anyone who transgresses GOD's laws commits an injustice against himself. You never know; maybe GOD wills something good to come out of this. | ||||

[YA]: But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- [RK]:How do you know? He may purify himself. | ||||
