[YA]: "O my father! to me hath come knowledge which hath not reached thee: so follow me: I will guide thee to a way that is even and straight. [RK]:"O my father, I have received certain knowledge that you did not receive. Follow me, and I will guide you in a straight path. | ||||

[YA]: Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous! [RK]:You have uttered a gross blasphemy. | ||||

[YA]: "Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' So We brought thee back to thy mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve. Then thou didst slay a man, but We saved thee from trouble, and We tried thee in various ways. Then didst thou tarry a number of years with the people of Midian. Then didst thou come hither as ordained, O Moses! [RK]:"Your sister walked to them and said, `I can tell you about a nursing mother who can take good care of him.' We thus returned you to your mother, that she may be happy and stop worrying. And when you killed a person, we saved you from the grievous consequences; indeed we tested you thoroughly. You stayed years with the people of Midyan, and now you have come back in accordance with a precise plan. | ||||

[YA]: "So go ye both to him, and say, 'Verily we are messengers sent by thy Lord: Send forth, therefore, the Children of Israel with us, and afflict them not: with a Sign, indeed, have we come from thy Lord! and peace to all who follow guidance! [RK]:"Go to him and say, `We are two messengers from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go. You must refrain from persecuting them. We bring a sign from your Lord, and peace is the lot of those who heed the guidance. | ||||

[YA]: He said: "Hast thou come to drive us out of our land with thy magic, O Moses? [RK]:He said, "Did you come here to take us out of our land with your magic, O Moses? | ||||

[YA]: They said: "Never shall we regard thee as more than the Clear Signs that have come to us, or than Him Who created us! so decree whatever thou desirest to decree: for thou canst only decree (touching) the life of this world. [RK]:They said, "We will not prefer you over the clear proofs that came to us, and over the One who created us. Therefore, issue whatever judgment you wish to issue. You can only rule in this lowly life. | ||||

[YA]: They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" [RK]:They said, "Are you telling us the truth, or are you playing?" | ||||

[YA]: So We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our Command, and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy family- except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: And address Me not in favour of the wrong-doers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood). [RK]:We then inspired him: "Make the watercraft under our watchful eyes, and in accordance with our inspiration. When our command comes, and the atmosphere boils up, put on it a pair of every kind (of your domesticated animals), and your family, except those condemned to be doomed. Do not speak to Me on behalf of those who transgressed; they will be drowned. | ||||

[YA]: Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! [RK]:Then we sent our messengers in succession. Every time a messenger went to his community, they disbelieved him. Consequently, we annihilated them, one after the other, and made them history. The people who disbelieved have perished. | ||||

[YA]: Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old? [RK]:Why do they not reflect upon this scripture? Do they not realize that they have received something never attained by their ancestors? | ||||

[YA]: Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. [RK]:Have they decided that he is crazy? Indeed, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them hate the truth. | ||||

[YA]: (In Falsehood will they be) Until, when death comes to one of them, he says: "O my Lord! send me back (to life),- [RK]:When death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back. | ||||

[YA]: Those who brought forward the lie are a body among yourselves: think it not to be an evil to you; On the contrary it is good for you: to every man among them (will come the punishment) of the sin that he earned, and to him who took on himself the lead among them, will be a penalty grievous. [RK]:A gang among you produced a big lie. Do not think that it was bad for you; instead, it was good for you. Meanwhile, each one of them has earned his share of the guilt. As for the one who initiated the whole incident, he has incurred a terrible retribution. | ||||

[YA]: Why did they not bring four witnesses to prove it? When they have not brought the witnesses, such men, in the sight of Allah, (stand forth) themselves as liars! [RK]:Only if they produced four witnesses (you may believe them). If they fail to produce the witnesses, then they are, according to GOD, liars. | ||||

[YA]: But the Unbelievers,- their deeds are like a mirage in sandy deserts, which the man parched with thirst mistakes for water; until when he comes up to it, he finds it to be nothing: But he finds Allah (ever) with him, and Allah will pay him his account: and Allah is swift in taking account. [RK]:As for those who disbelieve, their works are like a mirage in the desert. A thirsty person thinks that it is water. But when he reaches it, he finds that it is nothing, and he finds GOD there instead, to requite him fully for his works. GOD is the most efficient reckoner. | ||||

[YA]: But the misbelievers say: "Naught is this but a lie which he has forged, and others have helped him at it." In truth it is they who have put forward an iniquity and a falsehood. [RK]:Those who disbelieved said, "This is a fabrication that he produced, with the help of some other people." They have uttered a blasphemy and a falsehood. | ||||

[YA]: "He did lead me astray from the Message (of Allah) after it had come to me! Ah! the Evil One is but a traitor to man!" [RK]:"He has led me away from the message after it came to me. Indeed, the devil lets down his human victims." | ||||

[YA]: And no question do they bring to thee but We reveal to thee the truth and the best explanation (thereof). [RK]:Whatever argument they come up with, we provide you with the truth, and a better understanding. | ||||

[YA]: (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" [RK]:He said, "What if I show you something profound?" | ||||

[YA]: So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win? [RK]:When the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh, "Do we get paid, if we are the winners?" | ||||

[YA]: Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! [RK]:Then the retribution came to them, just as promised. | ||||

[YA]: But when he came to the (fire), a voice was heard: "Blessed are those in the fire and those around: and glory to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. [RK]:When he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is the One (who is speaking from) within the fire, and those around it." Glory be to GOD, Lord of the universe. | ||||

[YA]: But when Our Signs came to them, that should have opened their eyes, they said: "This is sorcery manifest!" [RK]:When our miracles were presented to them, clear and profound, they said, "This is obviously magic." | ||||

[YA]: But the Hoopoe tarried not far: he (came up and) said: "I have compassed (territory) which thou hast not compassed, and I have come to thee from Saba with tidings true. [RK]:He did not wait for long. (The hoopoe) said, "I have news that you do not have. I brought to you from Sheba, some important information. | ||||

[YA]: Now when (the embassy) came to Solomon, he said: "Will ye give me abundance in wealth? But that which Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay it is ye who rejoice in your gift! [RK]:When the hoopoe returned to Solomon (he told him the news), and he responded (to Sheba's people): "Are you giving me money? What GOD has given me is far better than what He has given you. You are the ones to rejoice in such gifts." | ||||

[YA]: So when she arrived, she was asked, "Is this thy throne?" She said, "It was just like this; and knowledge was bestowed on us in advance of this, and we have submitted to Allah (in Islam)." [RK]:When she arrived, she was asked, "Does your mansion look like this?" She said, "It seems that this is it." (Solomon said,) "We knew beforehand what she was going to do, and we were already submitters." | ||||

[YA]: Until, when they come (before the Judgment-seat), (Allah) will say: "Did ye reject My Signs, though ye comprehended them not in knowledge, or what was it ye did?" [RK]:When they arrive, He will say, "You have rejected My revelations, before acquiring knowledge about them. Is this not what you did?" | ||||

[YA]: If any do good, good will (accrue) to them therefrom; and they will be secure from terror that Day. [RK]:Those who bring good works (in their records) will receive far better rewards, and they will be perfectly secure from the horrors of that day. |
