[YA]: They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears in a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" [RK]:They said, "Our minds are made up, our ears are deaf to your message, and a barrier separates us from you. Do what you want, and so will we."

[YA]: Behold, the messengers came to them, from before them and behind them, (preaching): "Serve none but Allah." They said, "If our Lord had so pleased, He would certainly have sent down angels (to preach). Now we reject your mission (altogether)." [RK]:Their messengers went to them, as well as before them and after them, saying, "You shall not worship except GOD." They said, "Had our Lord willed, He could have sent angels. We are disbelievers in what you say."

[YA]: Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate! [RK]:Not equal is the good response and the bad response. You shall resort to the nicest possible response. Thus, the one who used to be your enemy, may become your best friend.

[YA]: No falsehood can approach it from before or behind it: It is sent down by One Full of Wisdom, Worthy of all Praise. [RK]:No falsehood could enter it, in the past or in the future; a revelation from a Most Wise, Praiseworthy.

[YA]: We certainly gave Moses the Book aforetime: but disputes arose therein. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (their differences) would have been settled between them: but they remained in suspicious disquieting doubt thereon. [RK]:We have given Moses the scripture and it was also disputed. If it were not for your Lord's predetermined decision, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, they harbor too many doubts.
358 | [41:53] Line:4271 |
| ||
[YA]: Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things? [RK]:We will show them our proofs in the horizons, and within themselves, until they realize that this is the truth. Is your Lord not sufficient as a witness of all things?

[YA]: And they became divided only after Knowledge reached them,- through selfish envy as between themselves. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (tending) to a Term appointed, the matter would have been settled between them: But truly those who have inherited the Book after them are in suspicious (disquieting) doubt concerning it. [RK]:Ironically, they broke up into sects only after the knowledge had come to them, due to jealousy and resentment among themselves. If it were not for a predetermined decision from your Lord to respite them for a definite interim, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, the later generations who inherited the scripture are full of doubts.

[YA]: Now then, for that (reason), call (them to the Faith), and stand steadfast as thou art commanded, nor follow thou their vain desires; but say: "I believe in the Book which Allah has sent down; and I am commanded to judge justly between you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord: for us (is the responsibility for) our deeds, and for you for your deeds. There is no contention between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is (our) Final Goal. [RK]:This is what you shall preach, and steadfastly maintain what you are commanded to do, and do not follow their wishes. And proclaim: "I believe in all the scriptures sent down by GOD. I was commanded to judge among you equitably. GOD is our Lord and your Lord. We have our deeds and you have your deeds. There is no argument between us and you. GOD will gather us all together; to Him is the ultimate destiny."

[YA]: What! have they partners (in godhead), who have established for them some religion without the permission of Allah? Had it not been for the Decree of Judgment, the matter would have been decided between them (at once). But verily the Wrong-doers will have a grievous Penalty. [RK]:They follow idols who decree for them religious laws never authorized by GOD. If it were not for the predetermined decision, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, the transgressors have incurred a painful retribution.
366 | [42:38] Line:4310 |

[YA]: Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance; [RK]:They respond to their Lord by observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Their affairs are decided after due consultation among themselves, and from our provisions to them they give (to charity).
367 | [43:2] Line:4327 |

[YA]: By the Book that makes things clear,- [RK]:And the enlightening scripture.
368 | [43:15] Line:4340 |
| ||
[YA]: Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! [RK]:They even assigned for Him a share from His own creation! Surely, the human being is profoundly unappreciative.
369 | [43:18] Line:4343 |

[YA]: Is then one brought up among trinkets, and unable to give a clear account in a dispute (to be associated with Allah)? [RK]:(They say,) "What is good about an offspring that is brought up to be beautiful, and cannot help in war?"
370 | [43:29] Line:4354 |
| ||
[YA]: Yea, I have given the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and a messenger making things clear. [RK]:Indeed, I have given these people and their ancestors sufficient chances, then the truth came to them, and a clarifying messenger.
371 | [43:32] Line:4357 |
| ||
[YA]: Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of thy Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world: and We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others. But the Mercy of thy Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass. [RK]:Are they the ones who assign your Lord's mercy? We have assigned their shares in this life, raising some of them above others in ranks, in order to let them serve one another. The mercy from your Lord is far better than any material they may hoard.
372 | [43:38] Line:4363 |

[YA]: At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)! [RK]:When he comes before us he will say, "Oh I wish you were as far from me as the two easts. What a miserable companion!"

374 | [43:40] Line:4365 |

[YA]: Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? [RK]:Can you make the deaf hear; can you make the blind see, or those who are far astray?
375 | [43:52] Line:4377 |
| ||
[YA]: "Am I not better than this (Moses), who is a contemptible wretch and can scarcely express himself clearly? [RK]:"Which one is better; me or that one who is lowly and can hardly speak?
376 | [43:62] Line:4387 |
| ||
[YA]: Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. [RK]:Let not the devil repel you; he is your most ardent enemy.
377 | [43:65] Line:4390 |
| ||
[YA]: But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! [RK]:The opponents disputed among themselves. Woe to those who transgress from the retribution of a painful day.
378 | [44:2] Line:4416 |

[YA]: Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible, [RK]:Therefore, watch for the day when the sky brings a profound smoke.
380 | [44:13] Line:4427 |

[YA]: How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- [RK]:Now that it is too late, they remember! An enlightening messenger had come to them.
381 | [44:19] Line:4433 |
| ||
[YA]: "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. [RK]:And, "Do not transgress against GOD. I bring to you powerful proofs.
382 | [44:33] Line:4447 |
| ||
[YA]: And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial [RK]:We showed them so many proofs, which constituted a great test.
383 | [45:17] Line:4490 |
| ||
[YA]: And We granted them Clear Signs in affairs (of Religion): it was only after knowledge had been granted to them that they fell into schisms, through insolent envy among themselves. Verily thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment as to those matters in which they set up differences. [RK]:We have given them herein clear commandments. Ironically, they did not dispute this until the knowledge had come to them. This is due to jealousy on their part. Surely, your Lord will judge them on the Day of Resurrection regarding everything they have disputed.

[YA]: And when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them their argument is nothing but this: They say, "Bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" [RK]:When our revelations are recited to them, clearly, their only argument is to say, "Bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful."
387 | [45:30] Line:4503 |
| ||
[YA]: Then, as to those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them to His Mercy that will be the achievement for all to see. [RK]:As for those who believe and work righteousness, their Lord will admit them into His mercy. This is the great triumph.
388 | [46:7] Line:4517 |
| ||
[YA]: When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, the Unbelievers say, of the Truth when it comes to them: "This is evident sorcery!" [RK]:When our revelations were recited to them, perfectly clear, those who disbelieved said of the truth that came to them, "This is obviously magic!"

[YA]: Or do they say, "He has forged it"? Say: "Had I forged it, then can ye obtain no single (blessing) for me from Allah. He knows best of that whereof ye talk (so glibly)! Enough is He for a witness between me and you! And he is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." [RK]:When they say, "He fabricated this," say, "If I fabricated this, then you cannot protect me from GOD. He is fully aware of everything you scheme. He suffices as a witness between me and you. He is the Forgiver, Most Merciful."

392 | [46:9] Line:4519 |

[YA]: Say: "I am no bringer of new-fangled doctrine among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I follow but that which is revealed to me by inspiration; I am but a Warner open and clear." [RK]:Say, "I am not different from other messengers. I have no idea what will happen to me or to you. I only follow what is revealed to me. I am no more than a profound warner."
393 | [46:21] Line:4531 |
| ||
[YA]: Mention (Hud) one of 'Ad's (own) brethren: Behold, he warned his people about the winding Sand-tracts: but there have been warners before him and after him: "Worship ye none other than Allah: Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Mighty Day." [RK]:Recall that the brother of `Aad warned his people at the dunes - numerous warnings were also delivered before him and after him: "You shall not worship except GOD. I fear for you the retribution of a great day."
394 | [46:30] Line:4540 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "O our people! We have heard a Book revealed after Moses, confirming what came before it: it guides (men) to the Truth and to a Straight Path. [RK]:They said, "O our people, we have heard a book that was revealed after Moses, and confirms the previous scriptures. It guides to the truth; to the right path.
395 | [46:32] Line:4542 |
| ||
[YA]: "If any does not hearken to the one who invites (us) to Allah, he cannot frustrate (Allah's Plan) on earth, and no protectors can he have besides Allah: such men (wander) in manifest error." [RK]:Those who fail to respond to GOD's call cannot escape, and will have no Lord other than Him; they have gone far astray.
396 | [47:14] Line:4559 |
| ||
[YA]: Is then one who is on a clear (Path) from his Lord, no better than one to whom the evil of his conduct seems pleasing, and such as follow their own lusts? [RK]:Are those enlightened by their Lord the same as those whose evil works are adorned in their eyes, and they follow their own opinions?
397 | [48:1] Line:4584 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily We have granted thee a manifest Victory: [RK]:We have bestowed upon you (O Messenger) a great victory.
398 | [48:29] Line:4612 |
| ||
[YA]: Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer), seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration. This is their similitude in the Taurat; and their similitude in the Gospel is: like a seed which sends forth its blade, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem, (filling) the sowers with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness, and a great Reward. [RK]:Muhammad - the messenger of GOD - and those with him are harsh and stern against the disbelievers, but kind and compassionate amongst themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating, as they seek GOD's blessings and approval. Their marks are on their faces, because of prostrating. This is the same example as in the Torah. Their example in the Gospel is like plants that grow taller and stronger, and please the farmers. He thus enrages the disbelievers. GOD promises those among them who believe, and lead a righteous life, forgiveness and a great recompense.
399 | [49:1] Line:4613 |
| ||
[YA]: O Ye who believe! Put not yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger; but fear Allah: for Allah is He Who hears and knows all things. [RK]:O you who believe, do not place your opinion above that of GOD and His messenger. You shall reverence GOD. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient.
400 | [49:9] Line:4621 |
| ||
[YA]: If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other, then fight ye (all) against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of Allah; but if it complies, then make peace between them with justice, and be fair: for Allah loves those who are fair (and just). [RK]:If two groups of believers fought with each other, you shall reconcile them. If one group aggresses against the other, you shall fight the aggressing group until they submit to GOD's command. Once they submit, you shall reconcile the two groups equitably. You shall maintain justice; GOD loves those who are just.
