[YA]: The Day when the Earth will be rent asunder, from (men) hurrying out: that will be a gathering together,- quite easy for Us.

[RK]:The day will come when the earth cracks in a hurry, giving rise to them. Such summoning is easy for us to do.

[YA]: The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them.

[RK]:On that day, their schemes will not protect them, nor will they be helped.

فتول عنهم يوم يدع الداع الي شئ نكر

[YA]: Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair,

[RK]:Ignore them; the day will come when the caller will announce a terrible disaster.

[YA]: Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say.

[RK]:As they respond to the caller, the disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult day."

[YA]: For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster,

[RK]:We sent upon them violent winds, on a day of continuous misery.

يوم يسحبون في النار علي وجوههم ذوقوا مس سقر

[YA]: The Day they will be dragged through the Fire on their faces, (they will hear:) "Taste ye the touch of Hell!"

[RK]:They will be dragged into the hellfire, forcibly. Suffer the agony of retribution.

[RK]:Imploring Him is everyone in the heavens and the earth. Every day He is in full control.

[YA]: "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known.

هو الذي خلق السماوات والارض في ستة ايام ثم استوي علي العرش يعلم مايلج في الارض ومايخرج منها وماينزل من السماء ومايعرج فيها وهو معكم اين ماكنتم والله بما تعملون بصير

[YA]: He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and is moreover firmly established on the Throne (of Authority). He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wheresoever ye may be. And Allah sees well all that ye do.

[RK]:He is the One who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then assumed all authority. He knows everything that enters into the earth, and everything that comes out of it, and everything that comes down from the sky, and everything that climbs into it. He is with you wherever you may be. GOD is Seer of everything you do.

Yawma tara almu/mineena waalmu/minatiyasAAa nooruhum bayna aydeehim wabi-aymanihim bushrakumualyawma jannatun tajree min tahtiha al-anharukhalideena feeha thalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu

يوم تري المؤمنين والمؤمنات يسعي نورهم بين ايديهم وبايمانهم بشراكم اليوم جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها ذلك هو الفوز العظيم

[YA]: One Day shalt thou see the believing men and the believing women- how their Light runs forward before them and by their right hands: (their greeting will be): "Good News for you this Day! Gardens beneath which flow rivers! to dwell therein for aye! This is indeed the highest Achievement!"

[RK]:The day will come when you see the believing men and women with their lights radiating ahead of them and to their right. Good news is yours that, on that day, you will have gardens with flowing streams. You will abide therein forever. This is the great triumph.

يوم يقول المنافقون والمنافقات للذين امنوا انظرونا نقتبس من نوركم قيل ارجعوا وراءكم فالتمسوا نورا فضرب بينهم بسور له باب باطنه فيه الرحمة وظاهره من قبله العذاب

[YA]: One Day will the Hypocrites- men and women - say to the Believers: "Wait for us! Let us borrow (a Light) from your Light!" It will be said: "Turn ye back to your rear! then seek a Light (where ye can)!" So a wall will be put up betwixt them, with a gate therein. Within it will be Mercy throughout, and without it, all alongside, will be (Wrath and) Punishment!

[RK]:On that day, the hypocrite men and women will say to those who believed, "Please allow us to absorb some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you, and seek light." A barrier will be set up between them, whose gate separates mercy on the inner side, from retribution on the outer side.

Faalyawma la yu/khathuminkum fidyatun wala mina allatheena kafaroo ma/wakumualnnaru hiya mawlakum wabi/sa almaseeru

فاليوم لايؤخذ منكم فدية ولامن الذين كفروا ماواكم النار هي مولاكم وبئس المصير

[YA]: "This Day shall no ransom be accepted of you, nor of those who rejected Allah." Your abode is the Fire: that is the proper place to claim you: and an evil refuge it is!"

[RK]:"Therefore, today no ransom can be taken from you, nor from those who disbelieved. Your abode is the fire; it is your lord, and miserable abode."

Yawma yabAAathuhumu Allahu jameeAAanfayunabbi-ohum bima AAamiloo ahsahu Allahuwanasoohu waAllahu AAala kulli shay-inshaheedun

يوم يبعثهم الله جميعا فينبئهم بما عملوا احصاه الله ونسوه والله علي كل شئ شهيد

[YA]: On the Day that Allah will raise them all up (again) and show them the Truth (and meaning) of their conduct. Allah has reckoned its (value), though they may have forgotten it, for Allah is Witness to all things.

[RK]:The day will come when GOD will resurrect them all, then inform them of everything they had done. GOD has recorded everything, while they have forgotten it. GOD witnesses all things.

الم تر ان الله يعلم مافي السماوات ومافي الارض مايكون من نجوي ثلاثة الا هو رابعهم ولاخمسة الا هو سادسهم ولاادني من ذلك ولااكثر الا هو معهم اين ماكانوا ثم ينبئهم بما عملوا يوم القيامة ان الله بكل شئ عليم

[YA]: Seest thou not that Allah doth know (all) that is in the heavens and on earth? There is not a secret consultation between three, but He makes the fourth among them, - Nor between five but He makes the sixth,- nor between fewer nor more, but He is in their midst, wheresoever they be: In the end will He tell them the truth of their conduct, on the Day of Judgment. For Allah has full knowledge of all things.

[RK]:Do you not realize that GOD knows everything in the heavens and everything on earth? No three people can conspire secretly without Him being their fourth, nor five without Him being the sixth, nor less than that, nor more, without Him being there with them wherever they may be. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of everything they had done. GOD is fully aware of all things.

Yawma yabAAathuhumu Allahu jameeAAanfayahlifoona lahu kama yahlifoona lakum wayahsaboonaannahum AAala shay-in ala innahum humu alkathiboona

يوم يبعثهم الله جميعا فيحلفون له كما يحلفون لكم ويحسبون انهم علي شئ الا انهم هم الكاذبون

[YA]: One day will Allah raise them all up (for Judgment): then will they swear to Him as they swear to you: And they think that they have something (to stand upon). No, indeed! they are but liars!

[RK]:The Day will come when GOD resurrects them all. They will swear to Him then, just as they swear to you now, thinking that they really are right! Indeed, they are the real liars.

La tajidu qawman yu/minoona biAllahiwaalyawmi al-akhiri yuwaddoona man haddaAllaha warasoolahu walaw kanoo abaahumaw abnaahum aw ikhwanahum aw AAasheeratahum ola-ikakataba fee quloobihimu al-eemana waayyadahum biroohinminhu wayudkhiluhum jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha radiya AllahuAAanhum waradoo AAanhu ola-ika hizbu Allahiala inna hizba Allahi humu almuflihoona

لاتجد قوما يؤمنون بالله واليوم الاخر يوادون من حاد الله ورسوله ولو كانوا اباءهم او ابناءهم او اخوانهم او عشيرتهم اولئك كتب في قلوبهم الايمان وايدهم بروح منه ويدخلهم جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه اولئك حزب الله الا ان حزب الله هم المفلحون

[YA]: Thou wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Truly it is the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity.

[RK]:You will not find people who believe in GOD and the Last Day befriending those who oppose GOD and His messenger, even if they were their parents, or their children, or their siblings, or their tribe. For these, He decrees faith into their hearts, and supports them with inspiration from Him, and admits them into gardens with flowing streams wherein they abide forever. GOD is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. These are the party of GOD. Most assuredly, GOD's party are the winners.

Lan tanfaAAakum arhamukum walaawladukum yawma alqiyamati yafsilu baynakumwaAllahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun

لن تنفعكم ارحامكم ولااولادكم يوم القيامة يفصل بينكم والله بما تعملون بصير

[YA]: Of no profit to you will be your relatives and your children on the Day of Judgment: He will judge between you: for Allah sees well all that ye do.

[RK]:Your relatives and your money can never help you. On the Day of Resurrection, He will judge among you. GOD is Seer of everything you do.

Laqad kana lakum feehim oswatun hasanatunliman kana yarjoo Allaha waalyawma al-akhirawaman yatawalla fa-inna Allaha huwa alghanniyyu alhameedu

لقد كان لكم فيهم اسوة حسنة لمن كان يرجو الله واليوم الاخر ومن يتول فان الله هو الغني الحميد

[YA]: There was indeed in them an excellent example for you to follow,- for those whose hope is in Allah and in the Last Day. But if any turn away, truly Allah is Free of all Wants, Worthy of all Praise.

[RK]:A good example has been set by them for those who seek GOD and the Last Day. As for those who turn away, GOD is in no need (of them), Most Praiseworthy.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha noodiya lilssalati min yawmialjumuAAati faisAAaw ila thikri Allahiwatharoo albayAAa thalikum khayrun lakum in kuntumtaAAlamoona

ياايها الذين امنوا اذا نودي للصلاة من يوم الجمعة فاسعوا الي ذكر الله وذروا البيع ذلكم خير لكم ان كنتم تعلمون

[YA]: O ye who believe! When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the Day of Assembly), hasten earnestly to the Remembrance of Allah, and leave off business (and traffic): That is best for you if ye but knew!

[RK]:O you who believe, when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu`ah) is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD, and drop all business. This is better for you, if you only knew.

Yawma yajmaAAukum liyawmi aljamAAi thalikayawmu alttaghabuni waman yu/min biAllahiwayaAAmal salihan yukaffir AAanhu sayyi-atihiwayudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha abadan thalikaalfawzu alAAatheemu

يوم يجمعكم ليوم الجمع ذلك يوم التغابن ومن يؤمن بالله ويعمل صالحا يكفر عنه سيئاته ويدخله جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها ابدا ذلك الفوز العظيم

[YA]: The Day that He assembles you (all) for a Day of Assembly,- that will be a Day of mutual loss and gain (among you), and those who believe in Allah and work righteousness,- He will remove from them their ills, and He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein for ever: that will be the Supreme Achievement.

[RK]:The day will come when He summons you to the Day of Summoning. That is the Day of Mutual Blaming. Anyone who believes in GOD and leads a righteous life, He will remit his sins, and will admit him into gardens with flowing streams. They abide therein forever. This is the greatest triumph.

Fa-itha balaghna ajalahunnafaamsikoohunna bimaAAroofin aw fariqoohunna bimaAAroofinwaashhidoo thaway AAadlin minkum waaqeemoo alshshahadatalillahi thalikum yooAAathu bihi man kanayu/minu biAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiriwaman yattaqi Allaha yajAAal lahu makhrajan

فاذا بلغن اجلهن فامسكوهن بمعروف او فارقوهن بمعروف واشهدوا ذوي عدل منكم واقيموا الشهادة لله ذلكم يوعظ به من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الاخر ومن يتق الله يجعل له مخرجا

[YA]: Thus when they fulfil their term appointed, either take them back on equitable terms or part with them on equitable terms; and take for witness two persons from among you, endued with justice, and establish the evidence (as) before Allah. Such is the admonition given to him who believes in Allah and the Last Day. And for those who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares a way out,

[RK]:Once the interim is fulfilled, you may reconcile with them equitably, or go through with the separation equitably. You shall have two equitable witnesses witness the divorce before GOD. This is to enlighten those who believe in GOD and the Last Day. Anyone who reverences GOD, He will create an exit for him.

Ya ayyuha allatheenakafaroo la taAAtathiroo alyawma innamatujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloona

ياايها الذين كفروا لاتعتذروا اليوم انما تجزون ماكنتم تعملون

[YA]: (They will say), "O ye Unbelievers! Make no excuses this Day! Ye are being but requited for all that ye did!"

[RK]:O you who disbelieved, do not apologize today. You are being requited only for what you did.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanootooboo ila Allahi tawbatan nasoohanAAasa rabbukum an yukaffira AAankum sayyi-atikumwayudkhilakum jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu yawma la yukhzee Allahu alnnabiyyawaallatheena amanoo maAAahu nooruhum yasAAabayna aydeehim wabi-aymanihim yaqooloona rabbanaatmim lana noorana waighfir lanainnaka AAala kulli shay-in qadeerun

ياايها الذين امنوا توبوا الي الله توبة نصوحا عسي ربكم ان يكفر عنكم سيئاتكم ويدخلكم جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار يوم لايخزي الله النبي والذين امنوا معه نورهم يسعي بين ايديهم وبايمانهم يقولون ربنا اتمم لنا نورنا واغفر لنا انك علي كل شئ قدير

[YA]: O ye who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance: In the hope that your Lord will remove from you your ills and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow,- the Day that Allah will not permit to be humiliated the Prophet and those who believe with him. Their Light will run forward before them and by their right hands, while they say, "Our Lord! Perfect our Light for us, and grant us Forgiveness: for Thou hast power over all things."

[RK]:O you who believe, you shall repent to GOD a firm repentance. Your Lord will then remit your sins and admit you into gardens with flowing streams. On that day, GOD will not disappoint the prophet and those who believed with him. Their light will radiate in front of them and to their right. They will say, "Our Lord, perfect our light for us, and forgive us; You are Omnipotent."

An la yadkhulannaha alyawmaAAalaykum miskeenun

ان لايدخلنها اليوم عليكم مسكين

[YA]: "Let not a single indigent person break in upon you into the (garden) this day."

[RK]:That from then on, none of them would be poor.

Am lakum aymanun AAalayna balighatunila yawmi alqiyamati inna lakum lama tahkumoona

ام لكم ايمان علينا بالغة الي يوم القيامة ان لكم لما تحكمون

[YA]: Or have ye Covenants with Us to oath, reaching to the Day of Judgment, (providing) that ye shall have whatever ye shall demand?

[RK]:Or, have you received solemn assurances from us that grant you whatever you wish on the Day of Resurrection?

Yawma yukshafu AAan saqin wayudAAawnaila alssujoodi fala yastateeAAoona

يوم يكشف عن ساق ويدعون الي السجود فلا يستطيعون

[YA]: The Day that the shin shall be laid bare, and they shall be summoned to bow in adoration, but they shall not be able,-

[RK]:The day will come when they will be exposed, and they will be required to fall prostrate, but they will be unable to.

Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalinwathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fataraalqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazunakhlin khawiyatun

سخرها عليهم سبع ليال وثمانية ايام حسوما فتري القوم فيها صرعي كانهم اعجاز نخل خاوية

[YA]: He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down!

[RK]:He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, violently. You could see the people tossed around like decayed palm trunks.

Kuloo waishraboo hanee-an bimaaslaftum fee al-ayyami alkhaliyati

كلوا واشربوا هنيئا بما اسلفتم في الايام الخالية

[YA]: "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!"

[RK]:Eat and drink happily in return for your works in days past.

فليس له اليوم هاهنا حميم

[YA]: "So no friend hath he here this Day.

[RK]:Consequently, he has no friend here.

TaAAruju almala-ikatu waalrroohuilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu khamseena alfasanatin

تعرج الملائكة والروح اليه في يوم كان مقداره خمسين الف سنة

[YA]: The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years:

[RK]:The angels, with their reports, climb to Him in a day that equals fifty thousand years.

[YA]: The Day that the sky will be like molten brass,

[RK]:The day will come when the sky will be like molten rocks.

يوم يخرجون من الاجداث سراعا كانهم الي نصب يوفضون

[YA]: The Day whereon they will issue from their sepulchres in sudden haste as if they were rushing to a goal-post (fixed for them),-

[RK]:That is the day they come out of the graves in a hurry, as if herded to the (sacrificial) altars.

KhashiAAatan absaruhumtarhaquhum thillatun thalika alyawmu allatheekanoo yooAAadoona

خاشعة ابصارهم ترهقهم ذلة ذلك اليوم الذي كانوا يوعدون

[YA]: Their eyes lowered in dejection,- ignominy covering them (all over)! such is the Day the which they are promised!

[RK]:With their eyes subdued, shame will cover them. That is the day that is awaiting them.

Yawma tarjufu al-ardu waaljibaluwakanati aljibalu katheeban maheelan

يوم ترجف الارض والجبال وكانت الجبال كثيبا مهيلا

[YA]: One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down.

[RK]:The day will come when the earth and the mountains will quake, and the mountains will turn into a weightless pile.

فذلك يومئذ يوم عسير

[YA]: That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,-

[RK]:That will be a difficult day.

وكنا نكذب بيوم الدين

[YA]: "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment,

[RK]:"We disbelieved in the Day of Judgment.

La oqsimu biyawmi alqiyamati

لااقسم بيوم القيامة

[YA]: I do call to witness the Resurrection Day;

[RK]:I swear by the Day of Resurrection.

Yas-alu ayyana yawmu alqiyamati

يسال ايان يوم القيامة

[YA]: He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

[RK]:He doubts the Day of Resurrection!

Fawaqahumu Allahu sharra thalikaalyawmi walaqqahum nadratan wasurooran

فوقاهم الله شر ذلك اليوم ولقاهم نضرة وسرورا

[YA]: But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy.

[RK]:Consequently, GOD protects them from the evils of that day, and rewards them with joy and contentment.
