[YA]: O men! Here is a parable set forth! listen to it! Those on whom, besides Allah, ye call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the purpose! and if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition! [RK]:O people, here is a parable that you must ponder carefully: the idols you set up beside GOD can never create a fly, even if they banded together to do so. Furthermore, if the fly steals anything from them, they cannot recover it; weak is the pursuer and the pursued.
102 | [23:73] Line:2746 |
| ||
[YA]: But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; [RK]:Most assuredly, you are inviting them to a straight path.
103 | [23:117] Line:2790 |
| ||
[YA]: If anyone invokes, besides Allah, Any other god, he has no authority therefor; and his reckoning will be only with his Lord! and verily the Unbelievers will fail to win through! [RK]:Anyone who idolizes beside GOD any other god, and without any kind of proof, his reckoning rests with his Lord. The disbelievers never succeed.
104 | [24:48] Line:2839 |
| ||
[YA]: When they are summoned to Allah and His messenger, in order that He may judge between them, behold some of them decline (to come). [RK]:When they are invited to GOD and His messenger to judge among them, some of them get upset.
105 | [24:51] Line:2842 |
| ||
[YA]: The answer of the Believers, when summoned to Allah and His Messenger, in order that He may judge between them, is no other than this: they say, "We hear and we obey": it is such as these that will attain felicity. [RK]:The only utterance of the believers, whenever invited to GOD and His messenger to judge in their affairs, is to say, "We hear and we obey." These are the winners.
106 | [24:63] Line:2854 |
| ||
[YA]: Deem not the summons of the Messenger among yourselves like the summons of one of you to another: Allah doth know those of you who slip away under shelter of some excuse: then let those beware who withstand the Messenger's order, lest some trial befall them, or a grievous penalty be inflicted on them. [RK]:Do not treat the messenger's requests as you treat each others' requests. GOD is fully aware of those among you who sneak away using flimsy excuses. Let them beware - those who disobey his orders - for a disaster may strike them, or a severe retribution.

108 | [25:13] Line:2868 |
| ||
[YA]: And when they are cast, bound together into a constricted place therein, they will pLead for destruction there and then! [RK]:And when they are thrown into it, through a narrow place, all shackled, they will declare their remorse.
109 | [25:14] Line:2869 |
| ||
[YA]: "This day plead not for a single destruction: plead for destruction oft-repeated!" [RK]:You will not declare just a single remorse, on that day; you will suffer through a great number of remorses.
110 | [25:14] Line:2869 |

[YA]: "This day plead not for a single destruction: plead for destruction oft-repeated!" [RK]:You will not declare just a single remorse, on that day; you will suffer through a great number of remorses.
111 | [25:68] Line:2923 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment. [RK]:They never implore beside GOD any other god, nor do they kill anyone - for GOD has made life sacred - except in the course of justice. Nor do they commit adultery. Those who commit these offenses will have to pay.
112 | [25:77] Line:2932 |
| ||
[YA]: Say (to the Rejecters): "My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on Him: But ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!" [RK]:Say, "You attain value at my Lord only through your worship. But if you disbelieve, you incur the inevitable consequences."
113 | [26:72] Line:3004 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" [RK]:He said, "Can they hear you when you implore?
114 | [26:213] Line:3145 |
| ||
[YA]: So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. [RK]:Therefore, do not idolize beside GOD any other god, lest you incur the retribution.
115 | [27:62] Line:3221 |
| ||
[YA]: Or, Who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and Who relieves its suffering, and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Little it is that ye heed! [RK]:Who is the One who rescues those who become desperate and call upon Him, relieves adversity, and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is it another god with GOD? Rarely do you take heed.
116 | [27:80] Line:3239 |
| ||
[YA]: Truly thou canst not cause the dead to listen, nor canst thou cause the deaf to hear the call, (especially) when they turn back in retreat. [RK]:You cannot make the dead, nor the deaf, hear the call, if they turn away.
117 | [28:25] Line:3277 |
| ||
[YA]: Afterwards one of the (damsels) came (back) to him, walking bashfully. She said: "My father invites thee that he may reward thee for having watered (our flocks) for us." So when he came to him and narrated the story, he said: "Fear thou not: (well) hast thou escaped from unjust people." [RK]:Soon, one of the two women approached him, shyly, and said, "My father invites you to pay you for watering for us." When he met him, and told him his story, he said, "Have no fear. You have been saved from the oppressive people."
118 | [28:41] Line:3293 |
| ||
[YA]: And we made them (but) leaders inviting to the Fire; and on the Day of Judgment no help shall they find. [RK]:We made them imams who led their people to Hell. Furthermore, on the Day of Resurrection, they will have no help.
119 | [28:64] Line:3316 |
| ||
[YA]: It will be said (to them): "Call upon your 'partners' (for help)" :they will call upon them, but they will not listen to them; and they will see the Penalty (before them); (how they will wish) 'if only they had been open to guidance!' [RK]:It will be said, "Call upon your idols (to help you)." They will call upon them, but they will not respond. They will suffer the retribution, and wish that they were guided!
120 | [28:64] Line:3316 |
| ||
121 | [28:87] Line:3339 |
| ||
[YA]: And let nothing keep thee back from the Signs of Allah after they have been revealed to thee: and invite (men) to thy Lord, and be not of the company of those who join gods with Allah. [RK]:Nor shall you be diverted from GOD's revelations, after they have come to you, and invite the others to your Lord. And do not ever fall into idol worship.
122 | [28:88] Line:3340 |
| ||
[YA]: And call not, besides Allah, on another god. There is no god but He. Everything (that exists) will perish except His own Face. To Him belongs the Command, and to Him will ye (all) be brought back. [RK]:You shall not worship beside GOD any other god. There is no other god beside Him. Everything perishes except His presence. To Him belongs all sovereignty, and to Him you will be returned.
123 | [29:42] Line:3382 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily Allah doth know of (every thing) whatever that they call upon besides Him: and He is Exalted (in power), Wise. [RK]:GOD knows full well that whatever they worship beside Him are really nothing. He is the Almighty, the Most Wise.
124 | [29:65] Line:3405 |
| ||
[YA]: Now, if they embark on a boat, they call on Allah, making their devotion sincerely (and exclusively) to Him; but when He has delivered them safely to (dry) land, behold, they give a share (of their worship to others)!- [RK]:When they ride on a ship, they implore GOD, devoting their prayers to Him. But as soon as He saves them to the shore, they revert to idolatry.
125 | [30:25] Line:3434 |
| ||
[YA]: And among His Signs is this, that heaven and earth stand by His Command: then when He calls you, by a single call, from the earth, behold, ye (straightway) come forth. [RK]:Among His proofs is that the heaven and the earth are standing at His disposal. Finally, when He calls you out of the earth, one call, you will immediately come out.
126 | [30:25] Line:3434 |
| ||
127 | [30:33] Line:3442 |
| ||
[YA]: When trouble touches men, they cry to their Lord, turning back to Him in repentance: but when He gives them a taste of Mercy as from Himself, behold, some of them pay part-worship to other god's besides their Lord,- [RK]:When adversity afflicts the people, they turn to their Lord, totally devoting themselves to Him. But then, as soon as He showers them with mercy, some of them revert to idol worship.
128 | [30:52] Line:3461 |
| ||
[YA]: So verily thou canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs and turn away. [RK]:You cannot make the dead, nor the deaf, hear the call, once they turn away.
129 | [31:21] Line:3490 |
| ||
[YA]: When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: "Nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following). "What! even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire? [RK]:When they are told, "Follow these revelations of GOD," they say, "No, we follow only what we found our parents doing." What if the devil is leading them to the agony of Hell?
130 | [31:30] Line:3499 |
| ||
[YA]: That is because Allah is the (only) Reality, and because whatever else they invoke besides Him is Falsehood; and because Allah,- He is the Most High, Most Great. [RK]:This proves that GOD is the truth, while any idol they set up beside Him is falsehood, and that GOD is the Most High, Most Great.
131 | [31:32] Line:3501 |
| ||
[YA]: When a wave covers them like the canopy (of clouds), they call to Allah, offering Him sincere devotion. But when He has delivered them safely to land, there are among them those that halt between (right and wrong). But none reject Our Signs except only a perfidious ungrateful (wretch)! [RK]:When violent waves surround them, they implore GOD, sincerely devoting their prayers to Him alone. But as soon as He saves them to the shore, some of them revert. None discards our revelations except those who are betrayers, unappreciative.
132 | [32:16] Line:3519 |
| ||
[YA]: Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them. [RK]:Their sides readily forsake their beds, in order to worship their Lord, out of reverence and hope, and from our provisions to them, they give.
133 | [33:4] Line:3537 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah has not made for any man two hearts in his (one) body: nor has He made your wives whom ye divorce by Zihar your mothers: nor has He made your adopted sons your sons. Such is (only) your (manner of) speech by your mouths. But Allah tells (you) the Truth, and He shows the (right) Way. [RK]:GOD did not give any man two hearts in his chest. Nor did He turn your wives whom you estrange (according to your custom) into your mothers. Nor did He turn your adopted children into genetic offspring. All these are mere utterances that you have invented. GOD speaks the truth, and He guides in the (right) path.
134 | [33:5] Line:3538 |
| ||
[YA]: Call them by (the names of) their fathers: that is juster in the sight of Allah. But if ye know not their father's (names, call them) your Brothers in faith, or your maulas. But there is no blame on you if ye make a mistake therein: (what counts is) the intention of your hearts: and Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful. [RK]:You shall give your adopted children names that preserve their relationship to their genetic parents. This is more equitable in the sight of GOD. If you do not know their parents, then, as your brethren in religion, you shall treat them as members of your family. You do not commit a sin if you make a mistake in this respect; you are responsible for your purposeful intentions. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
135 | [33:37] Line:3570 |
| ||
[YA]: Behold! Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: "Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah." But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), We joined her in marriage to thee: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah's command must be fulfilled. [RK]:Recall that you said to the one who was blessed by GOD, and blessed by you, "Keep your wife and reverence GOD," and you hid inside yourself what GOD wished to proclaim. Thus, you feared the people, when you were supposed to fear only GOD. When Zeid was completely through with his wife, we had you marry her, in order to establish the precedent that a man may marry the divorced wife of his adopted son. GOD's commands shall be done.
136 | [33:46] Line:3579 |
| ||
[YA]: And as one who invites to Allah's (grace) by His leave, and as a lamp spreading light. [RK]:Inviting to GOD, in accordance with His will, and a guiding beacon.
137 | [33:48] Line:3581 |
| ||
[YA]: And obey not (the behests) of the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and heed not their annoyances, but put thy Trust in Allah. For enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. [RK]:Do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites, disregard their insults, and put your trust in GOD; GOD suffices as an advocate.
138 | [33:53] Line:3586 |
| ||
[YA]: O ye who believe! Enter not the Prophet's houses,- until leave is given you,- for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited, enter; and when ye have taken your meal, disperse, without seeking familiar talk. Such (behaviour) annoys the Prophet: he is ashamed to dismiss you, but Allah is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth. And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs. Nor is it right for you that ye should annoy Allah's Messenger, or that ye should marry his widows after him at any time. Truly such a thing is in Allah's sight an enormity. [RK]:O you who believe, do not enter the prophet's homes unless you are given permission to eat, nor shall you force such an invitation in any manner. If you are invited, you may enter. When you finish eating, you shall leave; do not engage him in lengthy conversations. This used to hurt the prophet, and he was too shy to tell you. But GOD does not shy away from the truth. If you have to ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a barrier. This is purer for your hearts and their hearts. You are not to hurt the messenger of GOD. You shall not marry his wives after him, for this would be a gross offense in the sight of GOD.
139 | [34:22] Line:3628 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Call upon other (gods) whom ye fancy, besides Allah: They have no power,- not the weight of an atom,- in the heavens or on earth: No (sort of) share have they therein, nor is any of them a helper to Allah. [RK]:Say, "Implore the idols you have set up beside GOD. They do not possess as much as a single atom in the heavens, or the earth. They possess no partnership therein, nor does He permit them to be His assistants."
140 | [35:6] Line:3666 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily Satan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents, that they may become Companions of the Blazing Fire. [RK]:The devil is your enemy, so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be the dwellers of Hell.
141 | [35:13] Line:3673 |
| ||
[YA]: He merges Night into Day, and he merges Day into Night, and he has subjected the sun and the moon (to his Law): each one runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord: to Him belongs all Dominion. And those whom ye invoke besides Him have not the least power. [RK]:He merges the night into the day, and merges the day into the night. He has committed the sun and the moon to run for a predetermined period of time. Such is GOD your Lord; to Him belongs all kingship. Any idols you set up beside Him do not possess as much as a seed's shell.
142 | [35:14] Line:3674 |
| ||
[YA]: If ye invoke them, they will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). On the Day of Judgment they will reject your "Partnership". and none, (O man!) can tell thee (the Truth) like the One Who is acquainted with all things. [RK]:If you call on them, they cannot hear you. Even if they hear you, they cannot respond to you. On the Day of Resurrection, they will disown you. None can inform you like the Most Cognizant.
143 | [35:14] Line:3674 |
| ||
[YA]: If ye invoke them, they will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). None can inform you like the Most Cognizant.
144 | [35:18] Line:3678 |
| ||
[YA]: Nor can a bearer of burdens bear another's burdens if one heavily laden should call another to (bear) his load. Not the least portion of it can be carried (by the other). Even though he be nearly related. Thou canst but admonish such as fear their Lord unseen and establish regular Prayer. And whoever purifies himself does so for the benefit of his own soul; and the destination (of all) is to Allah. [RK]:No soul can carry the sins of another soul. If a soul that is loaded with sins implores another to bear part of its load, no other soul can carry any part of it, even if they were related. The only people to heed your warnings are those who reverence their Lord, even when alone in their privacy, and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat). Whoever purifies his soul, does so for his own good. To GOD is the final destiny.
145 | [35:40] Line:3700 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Have ye seen (these) 'Partners' of yours whom ye call upon besides Allah? Show Me what it is they have created in the (wide) earth. Or have they a share in the heavens? Or have We given them a Book from which they (can derive) clear (evidence)?- Nay, the wrong-doers promise each other nothing but delusions. [RK]:Say, "Consider the idols you have set up beside GOD; show me what on earth have they created." Do they own any partnership in the heavens? Have we given them a book wherein there is no doubt? Indeed, what the transgressors promise one another is no more than an illusion.
146 | [36:57] Line:3762 |
| ||
[YA]: (Every) fruit (enjoyment) will be there for them; they shall have whatever they call for; [RK]:They will have fruits therein; they will have anything they wish.
147 | [37:125] Line:3913 |
| ||
[YA]: "Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,- [RK]:"Do you worship a statue, instead of the Supreme Creator?
148 | [38:51] Line:4021 |
| ||
[YA]: Therein will they recline (at ease): Therein can they call (at pleasure) for fruit in abundance, and (delicious) drink; [RK]:Relaxing therein, they will be given many kinds of fruits and drinks.
149 | [39:8] Line:4066 |
| ||
[YA]: When some trouble toucheth man, he crieth unto his Lord, turning to Him in repentance: but when He bestoweth a favour upon him as from Himself, (man) doth forget what he cried and prayed for before, and he doth set up rivals unto Allah, thus misleading others from Allah's Path. Say, "Enjoy thy blasphemy for a little while: verily thou art (one) of the Companions of the Fire!" [RK]:When the human being is afflicted, he implores his Lord, sincerely devoted to Him. But as soon as He blesses him, he forgets his previous imploring, sets up idols to rank with GOD and to divert others from His path. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief temporarily; you have incurred the hellfire."
