[YA]: They will all be marshalled before Allah together: then will the weak say to those who were arrogant, "For us, we but followed you; can ye then avail us to all against the wrath of Allah?" They will reply, "If we had received the Guidance of Allah, we should have given it to you: to us it makes no difference (now) whether we rage, or bear (these torments) with patience: for ourselves there is no way of escape."

[RK]:When they all stand before GOD, the followers will say to the leaders, "We used to follow you. Can you spare us even a little bit of GOD's retribution?" They will say, "Had GOD guided us, we would have guided you. Now it is too late, whether we grieve or resort to patience, there is no exit for us."

[YA]: "Praise be to Allah, Who hath granted unto me in old age Isma'il and Isaac: for truly my Lord is He, the Hearer of Prayer!

[RK]:"Praise be to GOD for granting me, despite my old age, Ismail and Isaac. My Lord answers the prayers.

[YA]: He said: "Do ye give me glad tidings that old age has seized me? Of what, then, is your good news?"

[RK]:He said, "How can you give me such good news, when I am so old? Do you still give me this good news?"

[YA]: Your Allah is one Allah: as to those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant.

[RK]:Your god is one god. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are denying, and they are arrogant.

[YA]: Undoubtedly Allah doth know what they conceal, and what they reveal: verily He loveth not the arrogant.

[RK]:Absolutely, GOD knows everything they conceal and everything they declare. He does not love those who are arrogant.

Faodkhuloo abwaba jahannama khalideenafeeha falabi/sa mathwa almutakabbireenaفادخلوا ابواب جهنم خالدين فيها فلبئس مثوي المتكبرين
[YA]: "So enter the gates of Hell, to dwell therein. Thus evil indeed is the abode of the arrogant."

[RK]:Therefore, enter the gates of Hell, wherein you abide forever. What a miserable destiny for the arrogant ones.

Waallatheena hajaroofee Allahi min baAAdi ma thulimoolanubawwi-annahum fee alddunya hasanatanwalaajru al-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoonaوالذين هاجروا في الله من بعد ماظلموا لنبوئنهم في الدنيا حسنة ولاجر الاخرة اكبر لو كانوا يعلمون
[YA]: To those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, after suffering oppression,- We will assuredly give a goodly home in this world; but truly the reward of the Hereafter will be greater. If they only realised (this)!

[RK]:Those who emigrated for the sake of GOD, because they were persecuted, we will surely make it up to them generously in this life, and the recompense of the Hereafter is even greater, if they only knew.

Walillahi yasjudu ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi min dabbatin waalmala-ikatuwahum la yastakbiroonaولله يسجد مافي السماوات ومافي الارض من دابة والملائكة وهم لايستكبرون
[YA]: And to Allah doth obeisance all that is in the heavens and on earth, whether moving (living) creatures or the angels: for none are arrogant (before their Lord).

[RK]:To GOD prostrates everything in the heavens and everything on earth - every creature - and so do the angels; without the least arrogance.

Waqadayna ila banee isra-eelafee alkitabi latufsidunna fee al-ardi marratayniwalataAAlunna AAuluwwan kabeeranوقضينا الي بني اسرائيل في الكتاب لتفسدن في الارض مرتين ولتعلن علوا كبيرا
[YA]: And We gave (Clear) Warning to the Children of Israel in the Book, that twice would they do mischief on the earth and be elated with mighty arrogance (and twice would they be punished)!

[RK]:We addressed the Children of Israel in the scripture: "You will commit gross evil on earth, twice. You are destined to fall into great heights of arrogance.

Inna hatha alqur-ana yahdeelillatee hiya aqwamu wayubashshiru almu/mineena allatheenayaAAmaloona alssalihati anna lahum ajrankabeeranان هذا القران يهدي للتي هي اقوم ويبشر المؤمنين الذين يعملون الصالحات ان لهم اجرا كبيرا
[YA]: Verily this Qur'an doth guide to that which is most right (or stable), and giveth the Glad Tidings to the Believers who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a magnificent reward;

[RK]:This Quran guides to the best path, and brings good news to the believers who lead a righteous life, that they have deserved a great recompense.

[YA]: See how We have bestowed more on some than on others; but verily the Hereafter is more in rank and gradation and more in excellence.

[RK]:Note how we preferred some people above others (in this life). The differences in the Hereafter are far greater and far more significant.

Waqada rabbuka alla taAAbudooilla iyyahu wabialwalidayni ihsananimma yablughanna AAindaka alkibara ahaduhumaaw kilahuma fala taqul lahuma offinwala tanharhuma waqul lahuma qawlan kareemanوقضي ربك الا تعبدوا الا اياه وبالوالدين احسانا اما يبلغن عندك الكبر احدهما او كلاهما فلا تقل لهما اف ولاتنهرهما وقل لهما قولا كريما
[YA]: Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour.

[RK]:Your Lord has decreed that you shall not worship except Him, and your parents shall be honored. As long as one or both of them live, you shall never say to them, "Uff" (the slightest gesture of annoyance), nor shall you shout at them; you shall treat them amicably.

Wala taqtuloo awladakumkhashyata imlaqin nahnu narzuquhum wa-iyyakuminna qatlahum kana khit-an kabeeranولاتقتلوا اولادكم خشية املاق نحن نرزقهم واياكم ان قتلهم كان خطئا كبيرا
[YA]: Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin.

[RK]:You shall not kill your children due to fear of poverty. We provide for them, as well as for you. Killing them is a gross offense.

[YA]: Glory to Him! He is high above all that they say!- Exalted and Great (beyond measure)!

[RK]:Be He glorified, He is much too exalted, far above their utterances.

Aw khalqan mimma yakburu fee sudoorikumfasayaqooloona man yuAAeeduna quli allathee fatarakumawwala marratin fasayunghidoona ilayka ruoosahumwayaqooloona mata huwa qul AAasa an yakoona qareebanاو خلقا مما يكبر في صدوركم فسيقولون من يعيدنا قل الذي فطركم اول مرة فسينغضون اليك رؤوسهم ويقولون متي هو قل عسي ان يكون قريبا
[YA]: "Or created matter which, in your minds, is hardest (to be raised up),- (Yet shall ye be raised up)!" then will they say: "Who will cause us to return?" Say: "He who created you first!" Then will they wag their heads towards thee, and say, "When will that be?" Say, "May be it will be quite soon!

[RK]:"Even if you turn into any kind of creation that you deem impossible." They will then say, "Who will bring us back?" Say, "The One who created you in the first place." They will then shake their heads and say, "When will that be?" Say, "It may be closer than you think."

Wa-ith qulna laka inna rabbakaahata bialnnasi wama jaAAalnaalrru/ya allatee araynaka illafitnatan lilnnasi waalshshajarataalmalAAoonata fee alqur-ani wanukhawwifuhum famayazeeduhum illa tughyanan kabeeranواذ قلنا لك ان ربك احاط بالناس وماجعلنا الرؤيا التي اريناك الا فتنة للناس والشجرة الملعونة في القران ونخوفهم فما يزيدهم الا طغيانا كبيرا
[YA]: Behold! We told thee that thy Lord doth encompass mankind round about: We granted the vision which We showed thee, but as a trial for men,- as also the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Qur'an: We put terror (and warning) into them, but it only increases their inordinate transgression!

[RK]:We informed you that your Lord fully controls the people, and we rendered the vision that we showed you a test for the people, and the tree that is accursed in the Quran. We showed them solid proofs to instill reverence in them, but this only augmented their defiance.

[YA]: Except for Mercy from thy Lord: for his bounty is to thee (indeed) great.

[RK]:This is but mercy from your Lord. His blessings upon you have been great.

Waquli alhamdu lillahi allatheelam yattakhith waladan walam yakun lahu shareekun feealmulki walam yakun lahu waliyyun mina alththulliwakabbirhu takbeeranوقل الحمد لله الذي لم يتخذ ولدا ولم يكن له شريك في الملك ولم يكن له ولي من الذل وكبره تكبيرا
[YA]: Say: "Praise be to Allah, who begets no son, and has no partner in (His) dominion: Nor (needs) He any to protect Him from humiliation: yea, magnify Him for His greatness and glory!"

[RK]:And proclaim: "Praise be to GOD, who has never begotten a son, nor does He have a partner in His kingship, nor does He need any ally out of weakness," and magnify Him constantly.

[YA]: No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood!

[RK]:They possess no knowledge about this, nor did their parents. What a blasphemy coming out of their mouths! What they utter is a gross lie.

WawudiAAa alkitabu fataraalmujrimeena mushfiqeena mimma feehi wayaqooloona yawaylatana ma lihatha alkitabi layughadiru sagheeratan wala kabeeratan illaahsaha wawajadoo ma AAamiloo hadiranwala yathlimu rabbuka ahadanووضع الكتاب فتري المجرمين مشفقين مما فيه ويقولون ياويلتنا مال هذا الكتاب لايغادر صغيرة ولاكبيرة الا احصاها ووجدوا ماعملوا حاضرا ولايظلم ربك احدا
[YA]: And the Book (of Deeds) will be placed (before you); and thou wilt see the sinful in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein; they will say, "Ah! woe to us! what a Book is this! It leaves out nothing small or great, but takes account thereof!" They will find all that they did, placed before them: And not one will thy Lord treat with injustice.

[RK]:The record will be shown, and you will see the guilty fearful of its contents. They will say, "Woe to us. How come this book leaves nothing, small or large, without counting it?" They will find everything they had done brought forth. Your Lord is never unjust towards anyone.

Qala rabbi anna yakoonu leeghulamun wakanati imraatee AAaqiran waqadbalaghtu mina alkibari AAitiyyanقال رب اني يكون لي غلام وكانت امراتي عاقرا وقد بلغت من الكبر عتيا
[YA]: He said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren and I have grown quite decrepit from old age?"

[RK]:He said, "My Lord, will I have a son despite my wife's sterility, and despite my old age?"

[YA]: "In order that We may show thee (two) of our Greater Signs.

[RK]:"We thus show you some of our great portents.

Qala amantum lahu qabla an athanalakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihrafalaoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafinwalaosallibannakum fee juthooAAi alnnakhliwalataAAlamunna ayyuna ashaddu AAathaban waabqaقال امنتم له قبل ان اذن لكم انه لكبيركم الذي علمكم السحر فلاقطعن ايديكم وارجلكم من خلاف ولاصلبنكم في جذوع النخل ولتعلمن اينا اشد عذابا وابقي
[YA]: (Pharaoh) said: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this must be your leader, who has taught you magic! be sure I will cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will have you crucified on trunks of palm-trees: so shall ye know for certain, which of us can give the more severe and the more lasting punishment!"

[RK]:He said, "Did you believe in him without my permission? He must be your chief; the one who taught you magic. I will surely sever your hands and feet on alternate sides. I will crucify you on the palm trunks. You will find out which of us can inflict the worst retribution, and who outlasts whom."

Walahu man fee alssamawatiwaal-ardi waman AAindahu la yastakbiroonaAAan AAibadatihi wala yastahsiroonaوله من في السماوات والارض ومن عنده لايستكبرون عن عبادته ولايستحسرون
[YA]: To Him belong all (creatures) in the heavens and on earth: Even those who are in His (very) Presence are not too proud to serve Him, nor are they (ever) weary (of His service):

[RK]:To Him belongs everyone in the heavens and the earth, and those at Him are never too arrogant to worship Him, nor do they ever waver.

[YA]: So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it.

[RK]:He broke them into pieces, except for a big one, that they may refer to it.

Qala bal faAAalahu kabeeruhum hathafais-aloohum in kanoo yantiqoonaقال بل فعله كبيرهم هذا فسالوهم ان كانوا ينطقون
[YA]: He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!"

[RK]:He said, "It is that big one who did it. Go ask them, if they can speak."

La yahzunuhumu alfazaAAual-akbaru watatalaqqahumu almala-ikatu hathayawmukumu allathee kuntum tooAAadoonaلايحزنهم الفزع الاكبر وتتلقاهم الملائكة هذا يومكم الذي كنتم توعدون
[YA]: The Great Terror will bring them no grief: but the angels will meet them (with mutual greetings): "This is your Day,- (the Day) that ye were promised."

[RK]:The great horror will not worry them, and the angels will receive them joyfully: "This is your day, that has been promised to you."

Lan yanala Allaha luhoomuhawala dimaoha walakin yanaluhualttaqwa minkum kathalika sakhkharahalakum litukabbiroo Allaha AAala ma hadakumwabashshiri almuhsineenaلن ينال الله لحومها ولادماؤها ولكن يناله التقوي منكم كذلك سخرها لكم لتكبروا الله علي ماهداكم وبشر المحسنين
[YA]: It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah: it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify Allah for His Guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do right.

[RK]:Neither their meat, nor their blood reaches GOD. What reaches Him is your righteousness. He has subdued them for you, that you may show your appreciation by glorifying GOD for guiding you. Give good news to the charitable.

Thalika bi-anna Allaha huwa alhaqquwaanna ma yadAAoona min doonihi huwa albatiluwaanna Allaha huwa alAAaliyyu alkabeeruذلك بان الله هو الحق وان مايدعون من دونه هو الباطل وان الله هو العلي الكبير
[YA]: That is because Allah - He is the Reality; and those besides Him whom they invoke,- they are but vain Falsehood: verily Allah is He, Most High, Most Great.

[RK]:It is a fact that GOD is the Truth, while the setting up of any idols beside Him constitutes a falsehood, and that GOD is the Most High, the Supreme.

[YA]: To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people.

[RK]:To Pharaoh and his elders, but they turned arrogant. They were oppressive people.

[YA]: "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night."

[RK]:You were too arrogant to accept them, and you defiantly disregarded them.

Inna allatheena jaoo bial-ifkiAAusbatun minkum la tahsaboohu sharran lakumbal huwa khayrun lakum likulli imri-in minhum ma iktasabamina al-ithmi waallathee tawalla kibrahuminhum lahu AAathabun AAatheemunان الذين جاؤوا بالافك عصبة منكم لاتحسبوه شرا لكم بل هو خير لكم لكل امري منهم مااكتسب من الاثم والذي تولي كبره منهم له عذاب عظيم
[YA]: Those who brought forward the lie are a body among yourselves: think it not to be an evil to you; On the contrary it is good for you: to every man among them (will come the punishment) of the sin that he earned, and to him who took on himself the lead among them, will be a penalty grievous.

[RK]:A gang among you produced a big lie. Do not think that it was bad for you; instead, it was good for you. Meanwhile, each one of them has earned his share of the guilt. As for the one who initiated the whole incident, he has incurred a terrible retribution.

Faqad kaththabookum bimataqooloona fama tastateeAAoona sarfan walanasran waman yathlim minkum nuthiqhuAAathaban kabeeranفقد كذبوكم بما تقولون فما تستطيعون صرفا ولانصرا ومن يظلم منكم نذقه عذابا كبيرا
[YA]: (Allah will say): "Now have they proved you liars in what ye say: so ye cannot avert (your penalty) nor (get) help." And whoever among you does wrong, him shall We cause to taste of a grievous Penalty.

[RK]:They have disbelieved in the message you have given them, and, consequently, you can neither protect them from the retribution they have incurred, nor can you help them in any way. Anyone among you who commits evil, we will commit him to severe retribution.

Waqala allatheena layarjoona liqaana lawla onzila AAalaynaalmala-ikatu aw nara rabbana laqadiistakbaroo fee anfusihim waAAataw AAutuwwan kabeeranوقال الذين لايرجون لقاءنا لولا انزل علينا الملائكة او نري ربنا لقد استكبروا في انفسهم وعتوا عتوا كبيرا
[YA]: Such as fear not the meeting with Us (for Judgment) say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety!

[RK]:Those who do not expect to meet us said, "If only the angels could come down to us, or we could see our Lord (we would then believe)!" Indeed, they have committed a gross arrogance, and have produced a gross blasphemy.

[YA]: Such as fear not the meeting with Us (for Judgment) say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety!

[RK]:Those who do not expect to meet us said, "If only the angels could come down to us, or we could see our Lord (we would then believe)!" Indeed, they have committed a gross arrogance, and have produced a gross blasphemy.

[YA]: Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur'an).

[RK]:Therefore, do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with this, a great striving.

[YA]: Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!"

[RK]:He said, "Did you believe with him before I give you permission? He must be your teacher, who taught you magic. You will surely find out. I will sever your hands and feet on alternate sides. I will crucify you all."

Walamma warada maa madyanawajada AAalayhi ommatan mina alnnasi yasqoonawawajada min doonihimu imraatayni tathoodani qalama khatbukuma qalata lanasqee hatta yusdira alrriAAaowaaboona shaykhun kabeerunولما ورد ماء مدين وجد عليه امة من الناس يسقون ووجد من دونهم امراتين تذودان قال ماخطبكما قالتا لانسقي حتي يصدر الرعاء وابونا شيخ كبير
[YA]: And when he arrived at the watering (place) in Madyan, he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks). He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take back (their flocks): And our father is a very old man."

[RK]:When he reached Midyan's water, he found a crowd of people watering, and noticed two women waiting on the side. He said, "What is it that you need?" They said, "We are not able to water, until the crowd disperses, and our father is an old man."

Waistakbara huwa wajunooduhu feeal-ardi bighayri alhaqqi wathannooannahum ilayna la yurjaAAoonaواستكبر هو وجنوده في الارض بغير الحق وظنوا انهم الينا لايرجعون
[YA]: And he was arrogant and insolent in the land, beyond reason,- He and his hosts: they thought that they would not have to return to Us!

[RK]:Thus, he and his troops continued to commit arrogance on earth, without any right, and thought that they would not be returned to us.

Waqaroona wafirAAawna wahamanawalaqad jaahum moosa bialbayyinati faistakbaroofee al-ardi wama kanoo sabiqeenaوقارون وفرعون وهامان ولقد جاءهم موسي بالبينات فاستكبروا في الارض وماكانوا سابقين
[YA]: (Remember also) Qarun, Pharaoh, and Haman: there came to them Moses with Clear Signs, but they behaved with insolence on the earth; yet they could not overreach (Us).

[RK]:Also Qaaroon, Pharaoh, and Hamaan; Moses went to them with clear signs. But they continued to commit tyranny on earth. Consequently, they could not evade (the retribution).

Otlu ma oohiya ilayka minaalkitabi waaqimi alssalata inna alssalatatanha AAani alfahsha-i waalmunkariwalathikru Allahi akbaru waAllahuyaAAlamu ma tasnaAAoonaاتل مااوحي اليك من الكتاب واقم الصلاة ان الصلاة تنهي عن الفحشاء والمنكر ولذكر الله اكبر والله يعلم ماتصنعون
[YA]: Recite what is sent of the Book by inspiration to thee, and establish regular Prayer: for Prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds; and remembrance of Allah is the greatest (thing in life) without doubt. And Allah knows the (deeds) that ye do.

[RK]:You shall recite what is revealed to you of the scripture, and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), for the Contact Prayers prohibit evil and vice. But the remembrance of GOD (through Salat) is the most important objective. GOD knows everything you do.

Wa-itha tutla AAalayhi ayatunawalla mustakbiran kaan lam yasmaAAha kaanna fee othunayhiwaqran fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleeminواذا تتلي عليه اياتنا ولي مستكبرا كان لم يسمعها كان في اذنيه وقرا فبشره بعذاب اليم
[YA]: When Our Signs are rehearsed to such a one, he turns away in arrogance, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in both his ears: announce to him a grievous Penalty.

[RK]:And when our revelations are recited to the one of them, he turns away in arrogance as if he never heard them, as if his ears are deaf. Promise him a painful retribution.

Thalika bi-anna Allaha huwa alhaqquwaanna ma yadAAoona min doonihi albatilu waanna Allahahuwa alAAaliyyu alkabeeruذلك بان الله هو الحق وان مايدعون من دونه الباطل وان الله هو العلي الكبير
[YA]: That is because Allah is the (only) Reality, and because whatever else they invoke besides Him is Falsehood; and because Allah,- He is the Most High, Most Great.

[RK]:This proves that GOD is the truth, while any idol they set up beside Him is falsehood, and that GOD is the Most High, Most Great.

Innama yu/minu bi-ayatinaallatheena itha thukkiroo bihakharroo sujjadan wasabbahoo bihamdi rabbihim wahumla yastakbiroonaانما يؤمن باياتنا الذين اذا ذكروا بها خروا سجدا وسبحوا بحمد ربهم وهم لايستكبرون
[YA]: Only those believe in Our Signs, who, when they are recited to them, fall down in prostration, and celebrate the praises of their Lord, nor are they (ever) puffed up with pride.

[RK]:The only people who truly believe in our revelations are those who fall prostrate upon hearing them. They glorify and praise their Lord, without any arrogance.

Walanutheeqannahum mina alAAathabial-adna doona alAAathabi al-akbari laAAallahumyarjiAAoonaولنذيقنهم من العذاب الادني دون العذاب الاكبر لعلهم يرجعون
[YA]: And indeed We will make them taste of the Penalty of this (life) prior to the supreme Penalty, in order that they may (repent and) return.

[RK]:We let them taste the smaller retribution (of this world), before they incur the greater retribution (of the Hereafter), that they may (take a hint and) reform.

Wabashshiri almu/mineena bi-anna lahum minaAllahi fadlan kabeeranوبشرالمؤمنين بان لهم من الله فضلا كبيرا
[YA]: Then give the Glad Tidings to the Believers, that they shall have from Allah a very great Bounty.

[RK]:Deliver good news to the believers, that they have deserved from GOD a great blessing.

Waqaloo rabbana inna ataAAnasadatana wakubaraana faadalloonaalssabeelaوقالوا ربنا انا اطعنا سادتنا وكبراءنا فاضلونا السبيلا
[YA]: And they would say: "Our Lord! We obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us as to the (right) Path.

[RK]:They will also say, "Our Lord, we have obeyed our masters and leaders, but they led us astray.
