[YA]: They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but One Allah: there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him). [RK]:They have set up their religious leaders and scholars as lords, instead of GOD. Others deified the Messiah, son of Mary. They were all commanded to worship only one god. There is no god except He. Be He glorified, high above having any partners.
52 | [9:98] Line:1333 |
| ||
[YA]: Some of the desert Arabs look upon their payments as a fine, and watch for disasters for you: on them be the disaster of evil: for Allah is He That heareth and knoweth (all things). [RK]:Some Arabs consider their spending (in the cause of God) to be a loss, and even wait in anticipation that a disaster may hit you. It is they who will incur the worst disaster. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient.
53 | [9:99] Line:1334 |
| ||
[YA]: But some of the desert Arabs believe in Allah and the Last Day, and look on their payments as pious gifts bringing them nearer to Allah and obtaining the prayers of the Messenger. Aye, indeed they bring them nearer (to Him): soon will Allah admit them to His Mercy: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. [RK]:Other Arabs do believe in GOD and the Last Day, and consider their spending to be a means towards GOD, and a means of supporting the messenger. Indeed, it will bring them nearer; GOD will admit them into His mercy. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
54 | [9:107] Line:1342 |
| ||
[YA]: And there are those who put up a mosque by way of mischief and infidelity - to disunite the Believers - and in preparation for one who warred against Allah and His Messenger aforetime. They will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good; But Allah doth declare that they are certainly liars. [RK]:There are those who abuse the masjid by practicing idol worship, dividing the believers, and providing comfort to those who oppose GOD and His messenger. They solemnly swear: "Our intentions are honorable!" GOD bears witness that they are liars.
55 | [10:68] Line:1432 |
| ||
[YA]: They say: "Allah hath begotten a son!" - Glory be to Him! He is self-sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have ye for this! say ye about Allah what ye know not? [RK]:They said, "GOD has begotten a son!" Be He glorified. He is the Most Rich. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. You have no proof to support such a blasphemy. Are you saying about GOD what you do not know?
56 | [11:92] Line:1565 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "O my people! is then my family of more consideration with you than Allah? For ye cast Him away behind your backs (with contempt). But verily my Lord encompasseth on all sides all that ye do! [RK]:He said, "O my people, does my tribe command a greater respect than GOD? Is this why you have been heedless of Him? My Lord is fully aware of everything you do.
57 | [12:21] Line:1617 |
| ||
[YA]: The man in Egypt who bought him, said to his wife: "Make his stay (among us) honourable: may be he will bring us much good, or we shall adopt him as a son." Thus did We establish Joseph in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of stories (and events). And Allah hath full power and control over His affairs; but most among mankind know it not. [RK]:The one who bought him in Egypt said to his wife, "Take good care of him. Maybe he can help us, or maybe we can adopt him." We thus established Joseph on earth, and we taught him the interpretation of dreams. GOD's command is always done, but most people do not know.
58 | [13:16] Line:1723 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?" Say: "(It is) Allah." Say: "Do ye then take (for worship) protectors other than Him, such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?" Say: "Are the blind equal with those who see? Or the depths of darkness equal with light?" Or do they assign to Allah partners who have created (anything) as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say: "Allah is the Creator of all things: He is the One, the Supreme and Irresistible." [RK]:Say, "Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?" Say, "GOD." Say, "Why then do you set up besides Him masters who do not possess any power to benefit or harm even themselves?" Say, "Is the blind the same as the seer? Is darkness the same as the light?" Have they found idols besides GOD who created creations similar to His creations, to the point of not distinguishing the two creations? Say, "GOD is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Supreme."
59 | [16:51] Line:1952 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah has said: "Take not (for worship) two gods: for He is just One Allah: then fear Me (and Me alone)." [RK]:GOD has proclaimed: "Do not worship two gods; there is only one god. You shall reverence Me alone."
60 | [16:67] Line:1968 |
| ||
[YA]: And from the fruit of the date-palm and the vine, ye get out wholesome drink and food: behold, in this also is a sign for those who are wise. [RK]:And from the fruits of date palms and grapes you produce intoxicants, as well as good provisions. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who understand.
61 | [16:68] Line:1969 |
| ||
[YA]: And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations; [RK]:And your Lord inspired the bee: build homes in mountains and trees, and in (the hives) they build for you.
62 | [16:92] Line:1993 |
| ||
[YA]: And be not like a woman who breaks into untwisted strands the yarn which she has spun, after it has become strong. Nor take your oaths to practise deception between yourselves, lest one party should be more numerous than another: for Allah will test you by this; and on the Day of Judgment He will certainly make clear to you (the truth of) that wherein ye disagree. [RK]:Do not be like the knitter who unravels her strong knitting into piles of flimsy yarn. This is your example if you abuse the oaths to take advantage of one another. Whether one group is larger than the other, GOD thus puts you to the test. He will surely show you on the Day of Resurrection everything you had disputed.
63 | [16:94] Line:1995 |
| ||
[YA]: And take not your oaths, to practise deception between yourselves, with the result that someone's foot may slip after it was firmly planted, and ye may have to taste the evil (consequences) of having hindered (men) from the Path of Allah, and a Mighty Wrath descend on you. [RK]:Do not abuse the oaths among you, lest you slide back after having a strong foothold, then you incur misery. Such is the consequence of repelling from the path of GOD (by setting a bad example); you incur a terrible retribution.
64 | [17:2] Line:2031 |
| ||
[YA]: We gave Moses the Book, and made it a Guide to the Children of Israel, (commanding): "Take not other than Me as Disposer of (your) affairs." [RK]:Similarly, we gave Moses the scripture, and rendered it a beacon for the Children of Israel that: "You shall not set up any idol as a Lord and Master beside Me."
65 | [17:40] Line:2069 |
| ||
[YA]: Has then your Lord (O Pagans!) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself daughters among the angels? Truly ye utter a most dreadful saying! [RK]:Has your Lord given you boys, while giving Himself the angels as daughters?! How could you utter such a blasphemy?
66 | [17:73] Line:2102 |
| ||
[YA]: And their purpose was to tempt thee away from that which We had revealed unto thee, to substitute in our name something quite different; (in that case), behold! they would certainly have made thee (their) friend! [RK]:They almost diverted you from the revelations we have given you. They wanted you to fabricate something else, in order to consider you a friend.
67 | [17:111] Line:2140 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Praise be to Allah, who begets no son, and has no partner in (His) dominion: Nor (needs) He any to protect Him from humiliation: yea, magnify Him for His greatness and glory!" [RK]:And proclaim: "Praise be to GOD, who has never begotten a son, nor does He have a partner in His kingship, nor does He need any ally out of weakness," and magnify Him constantly.
68 | [18:4] Line:2144 |
| ||
[YA]: Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": [RK]:And to warn those who said, "GOD has begotten a son!"
69 | [18:15] Line:2155 |
| ||
[YA]: "These our people have taken for worship gods other than Him: why do they not bring forward an authority clear (and convincing) for what they do? Who doth more wrong than such as invent a falsehood against Allah? [RK]:"Here are our people setting up gods beside Him. If only they could provide any proof to support their stand! Who is more evil than the one who fabricates lies and attributes them to GOD?
70 | [18:21] Line:2161 |
| ||
[YA]: Thus did We make their case known to the people, that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour of Judgment. Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. (Some) said, "Construct a building over them": Their Lord knows best about them: those who prevailed over their affair said, "Let us surely build a place of worship over them." [RK]:We caused them to be discovered, to let everyone know that GOD's promise is true, and to remove all doubt concerning the end of the world. The people then disputed among themselves regarding them. Some said, "Let us build a building around them." Their Lord is the best knower about them. Those who prevailed said, "We will build a place of worship around them."
71 | [18:50] Line:2190 |
| ||
[YA]: Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you! Evil would be the exchange for the wrong-doers! [RK]:We said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam." They fell prostrate, except Satan. He became a jinn, for he disobeyed the order of His Lord. Will you choose him and his descendants as lords instead of Me, even though they are your enemies? What a miserable substitute!
72 | [18:51] Line:2191 |
| ||
[YA]: I called them not to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor (even) their own creation: nor is it for helpers such as Me to take as lead (men) astray! [RK]:I never permitted them to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor the creation of themselves. Nor do I permit the wicked to work in My kingdom.
73 | [18:56] Line:2196 |
| ||
[YA]: We only send the messengers to give Glad Tidings and to give warnings: But the unbelievers dispute with vain argument, in order therewith to weaken the truth, and they treat My Signs as a jest, as also the fact that they are warned! [RK]:We only send the messengers as simply deliverers of good news, as well as warners. Those who disbelieve argue with falsehood to defeat the truth, and they take My proofs and warnings in vain.
74 | [18:61] Line:2201 |
| ||
[YA]: But when they reached the Junction, they forgot (about) their Fish, which took its course through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel. [RK]:When they reached the point where they met, they forgot their fish, and it found its way back to the river, sneakily.
75 | [18:63] Line:2203 |
| ||
[YA]: He replied: "Sawest thou (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget (about) the Fish: none but Satan made me forget to tell (you) about it: it took its course through the sea in a marvellous way!" [RK]:He said, "Remember when we sat by the rock back there? I paid no attention to the fish. It was the devil who made me forget it, and it found its way back to the river, strangely."
76 | [18:77] Line:2217 |
| ||
[YA]: Then they proceeded: until, when they came to the inhabitants of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused them hospitality. They found there a wall on the point of falling down, but he set it up straight. (Moses) said: "If thou hadst wished, surely thou couldst have exacted some recompense for it!" [RK]:So they went. When they reached a certain community, they asked the people for food, but they refused to host them. Soon, they found a wall about to collapse, and he fixed it. He said, "You could have demanded a wage for that!"
77 | [18:86] Line:2226 |
| ||
[YA]: Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." [RK]:When he reached the far west, he found the sun setting in a vast ocean, and found people there. We said, "O Zul-Qarnain, you can rule as you wish; either punish, or be kind to them."
78 | [18:102] Line:2242 |
| ||
[YA]: Do the Unbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors besides Me? Verily We have prepared Hell for the Unbelievers for (their) entertainment. [RK]:Do those who disbelieve think that they can get away with setting up My servants as gods beside Me? We have prepared for the disbelievers Hell as an eternal abode.
79 | [18:106] Line:2246 |
| ||
[YA]: That is their reward, Hell, because they rejected Faith, and took My Signs and My Messengers by way of jest. [RK]:Their just requital is Hell, in return for their disbelief, and for mocking My revelations and My messengers.
80 | [19:17] Line:2267 |
| ||
[YA]: She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects. [RK]:While a barrier separated her from them, we sent to her our Spirit. He went to her in the form of a human being.
81 | [19:35] Line:2285 |
| ||
[YA]: It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, "Be", and it is. [RK]:It does not befit GOD that He begets a son, be He glorified. To have anything done, He simply says to it, "Be," and it is.
82 | [19:78] Line:2328 |
| ||
[YA]: Has he penetrated to the Unseen, or has he taken a contract with (Allah) Most Gracious? [RK]:Has he seen the future? Has he taken such a pledge from the Most Gracious?
83 | [19:81] Line:2331 |
| ||
[YA]: And they have taken (for worship) gods other than Allah, to give them power and glory! [RK]:They worship beside GOD other gods that (they think) may be of help to them.
84 | [19:87] Line:2337 |
| ||
[YA]: None shall have the power of intercession, but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from (Allah) Most Gracious. [RK]:No one will possess the power to intercede, except those who conform to the laws of the Most Gracious.
85 | [19:88] Line:2338 |
| ||
[YA]: They say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!" [RK]:They said, "The Most Gracious has begotten a son"!
86 | [19:92] Line:2342 |
| ||
[YA]: For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son. [RK]:It is not befitting the Most Gracious that He should beget a son.
87 | [20:94] Line:2442 |
| ||
[YA]: (Aaron) replied: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head! Truly I feared lest thou shouldst say, 'Thou has caused a division among the children of Israel, and thou didst not respect my word!'" [RK]:He said, "O son of my mother; do not pull me by my beard and my head. I was afraid that you might say, `You have divided the Children of Israel, and disobeyed my orders.' "
88 | [21:17] Line:2500 |
| ||
[YA]: If it had been Our wish to take (just) a pastime, We should surely have taken it from the things nearest to Us, if We would do (such a thing)! [RK]:If we needed amusement, we could have initiated it without any of this, if that is what we wanted to do.
89 | [21:17] Line:2500 |
| ||
[YA]: If it had been Our wish to take (just) a pastime, We should surely have taken it from the things nearest to Us, if We would do (such a thing)! [RK]:If we needed amusement, we could have initiated it without any of this, if that is what we wanted to do.
90 | [21:21] Line:2504 |
| ||
[YA]: Or have they taken (for worship) gods from the earth who can raise (the dead)? [RK]:Have they found gods on earth who can create?
91 | [21:24] Line:2507 |
| ||
[YA]: Or have they taken for worship (other) gods besides him? Say, "Bring your convincing proof: this is the Message of those with me and the Message of those before me." But most of them know not the Truth, and so turn away. [RK]:Have they found other gods beside Him? Say, "Show me your proof. This is the message to my generation, consummating all previous messages." Indeed, most of them do not recognize the truth; this is why they are so hostile.
92 | [21:26] Line:2509 |
| ||
[YA]: And they say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten offspring." Glory to Him! they are (but) servants raised to honour. [RK]:Yet, they said, "The Most Gracious has begotten a son!" Glory be to Him. All (messengers) are (His) honored servants.
93 | [21:36] Line:2519 |
| ||
[YA]: When the Unbelievers see thee, they treat thee not except with ridicule. "Is this," (they say), "the one who talks of your gods?" and they blaspheme at the mention of (Allah) Most Gracious! [RK]:When those who disbelieve see you, they ridicule you: "Is this the one who challenges your gods?" Meanwhile, they remain totally heedless of the message from the Most Gracious.
94 | [23:91] Line:2764 |
| ||
[YA]: No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to Him! [RK]:GOD has never begotten a son. Nor was there ever any other god beside Him. Otherwise, each god would have declared independence with his creations, and they would have competed with each other for dominance. GOD be glorified; far above their claims.
95 | [23:110] Line:2783 |
| ||
[YA]: "But ye treated them with ridicule, so much so that (ridicule of) them made you forget My Message while ye were laughing at them! [RK]:"But you mocked and ridiculed them, to the extent that you forgot Me. You used to laugh at them.
96 | [24:2] Line:2793 |
| ||
[YA]: The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. [RK]:The adulteress and the adulterer you shall whip each of them a hundred lashes. Do not be swayed by pity from carrying out GOD's law, if you truly believe in GOD and the Last Day. And let a group of believers witness their penalty.
97 | [25:2] Line:2857 |
| ||
[YA]: He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: no son has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His dominion: it is He who created all things, and ordered them in due proportions. [RK]:The One to whom belongs all sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. He never had a son, nor does He have any partners in sovereignty. He created everything in exact measure; He precisely designed everything.
98 | [25:3] Line:2858 |
| ||
[YA]: Yet have they taken, besides him, gods that can create nothing but are themselves created; that have no control of hurt or good to themselves; nor can they control death nor life nor resurrection. [RK]:Yet, they set up beside Him gods who do not create anything - they themselves are created - and who possess no power to even harm or benefit themselves, nor do they possess any power to control life, or death, or resurrection.
99 | [25:18] Line:2873 |
| ||
[YA]: They will say: "Glory to Thee! not meet was it for us that we should take for protectors others besides Thee: But Thou didst bestow, on them and their fathers, good things (in life), until they forgot the Message: for they were a people (worthless and) lost." [RK]:They will say, "Be You glorified, it was not right for us to set up any lords beside You. But You allowed them to enjoy, together with their parents. Consequently, they disregarded the message and thus became wicked people."
100 | [25:27] Line:2882 |
| ||
[YA]: The Day that the wrong-doer will bite at his hands, he will say, "Oh! would that I had taken a (straight) path with the Messenger! [RK]:The day will come when the transgressor will bite his hands (in anguish) and say, "Alas, I wish I had followed the path with the messenger.
