[YA]: Therefore be patient with what they say, and celebrate (constantly) the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun, and before its setting; yea, celebrate them for part of the hours of the night, and at the sides of the day: that thou mayest have (spiritual) joy. [RK]:Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before sunset. And during the night glorify Him, as well as at both ends of the day, that you may be happy.
1002 | [20:133] Line:2481 |
| ||
[YA]: They say: "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has not a Clear Sign come to them of all that was in the former Books of revelation? [RK]:They said, "If he could only show us a miracle from his Lord!" Did they not receive sufficient miracles with the previous messages?
1003 | [20:134] Line:2482 |
| ||
[YA]: And if We had inflicted on them a penalty before this, they would have said: "Our Lord! If only Thou hadst sent us a messenger, we should certainly have followed Thy Signs before we were humbled and put to shame." [RK]:Had we annihilated them before this, they would have said, "Our Lord, had You sent a messenger to us, we would have followed Your revelations, and would have avoided this shame and humiliation."
1004 | [20:135] Line:2483 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Each one (of us) is waiting: wait ye, therefore, and soon shall ye know who it is that is on the straight and even way, and who it is that has received Guidance." [RK]:Say, "All of us are waiting, so wait; you will surely find out who are on the correct path, and who are truly guided."
1005 | [21:4] Line:2487 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." [RK]:He said, "My Lord knows every thought in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient."
1006 | [21:4] Line:2487 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." [RK]:He said, "My Lord knows every thought in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient."
1007 | [21:5] Line:2488 |
| ||
[YA]: "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" [RK]:They even said, "Hallucinations," "He made it up," and, "He is a poet. Let him show us a miracle like those of the previous messengers."
1008 | [21:14] Line:2497 |
| ||
[YA]: They said: "Ah! woe to us! We were indeed wrong-doers!" [RK]:They said, "Woe to us. We were really wicked."
1009 | [21:24] Line:2507 |
| ||
[YA]: Or have they taken for worship (other) gods besides him? Say, "Bring your convincing proof: this is the Message of those with me and the Message of those before me." But most of them know not the Truth, and so turn away. [RK]:Have they found other gods beside Him? Say, "Show me your proof. This is the message to my generation, consummating all previous messages." Indeed, most of them do not recognize the truth; this is why they are so hostile.
1010 | [21:26] Line:2509 |
| ||
[YA]: And they say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten offspring." Glory to Him! they are (but) servants raised to honour. [RK]:Yet, they said, "The Most Gracious has begotten a son!" Glory be to Him. All (messengers) are (His) honored servants.
1011 | [21:27] Line:2510 |
| ||
[YA]: They speak not before He speaks, and they act (in all things) by His Command. [RK]:They never speak on their own, and they strictly follow His commands.
1012 | [21:29] Line:2512 |
| ||
[YA]: If any of them should say, "I am a god besides Him", such a one We should reward with Hell: thus do We reward those who do wrong. [RK]:If any of them claims to be a god beside Him, we requite him with Hell; we thus requite the wicked.
1013 | [21:38] Line:2521 |
| ||
[YA]: They say: "When will this promise come to pass, if ye are telling the truth?" [RK]:They challenge: "Where is that (retribution), if you are truthful?"
1014 | [21:42] Line:2525 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Who can keep you safe by night and by day from (the Wrath of) (Allah) Most Gracious?" Yet they turn away from the mention of their Lord. [RK]:Say, "Who can protect you from the Most Gracious during the night or during the day?" Indeed, they are totally oblivious to the message of their Lord.
1015 | [21:45] Line:2528 |
| ||
[YA]: Say, "I do but warn you according to revelation": But the deaf will not hear the call, (even) when they are warned! [RK]:Say, "I am warning you in accordance with divine inspiration." However, the deaf cannot hear the call, when they are warned.
1016 | [21:46] Line:2529 |
| ||
[YA]: If but a breath of the Wrath of thy Lord do touch them, they will then say, "Woe to us! we did wrong indeed!" [RK]:When a sample of your Lord's retribution afflicts them, they readily say, "We were indeed wicked."
1017 | [21:52] Line:2535 |
| ||
[YA]: Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" [RK]:He said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoting yourselves?"
1018 | [21:53] Line:2536 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." [RK]:They said, "We found our parents worshipping them."
1019 | [21:54] Line:2537 |
| ||
[YA]: He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." [RK]:He said, "Indeed, you and your parents have gone totally astray."
1020 | [21:55] Line:2538 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" [RK]:They said, "Are you telling us the truth, or are you playing?"
1021 | [21:56] Line:2539 |
| ||
[YA]: He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). [RK]:He said, "Your only Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them. This is the testimony to which I bear witness.
1022 | [21:59] Line:2542 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" [RK]:They said, "Whoever did this to our gods is really a transgressor."
1023 | [21:60] Line:2543 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." [RK]:They said, "We heard a youth threaten them; he is called Abraham."
1024 | [21:60] Line:2543 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." [RK]:They said, "We heard a youth threaten them; he is called Abraham."
1025 | [21:61] Line:2544 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." [RK]:They said, "Bring him before the eyes of all the people, that they may bear witness."
1026 | [21:62] Line:2545 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" [RK]:They said, "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?"
1027 | [21:63] Line:2546 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" [RK]:He said, "It is that big one who did it. Go ask them, if they can speak."
1028 | [21:64] Line:2547 |
| ||
[YA]: So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" [RK]:They were taken aback, and said to themselves, "Indeed, you are the ones who have been transgressing."
1029 | [21:66] Line:2549 |
| ||
[YA]: (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? [RK]:He said, "Do you then worship beside GOD what possesses no power to benefit you or harm you?
1030 | [21:68] Line:2551 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" [RK]:They said, "Burn him and support your gods, if this is what you decide to do."
1031 | [21:69] Line:2552 |
| ||
[YA]: We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" [RK]:We said, "O fire, be cool and safe for Abraham."
1032 | [21:108] Line:2591 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "What has come to me by inspiration is that your Allah is One Allah: will ye therefore bow to His Will (in Islam)?" [RK]:Proclaim, "I have been given divine inspiration that your god is one god. Will you then submit?"
1033 | [21:109] Line:2592 |
| ||
[YA]: But if they turn back, Say: "I have proclaimed the Message to you all alike and in truth; but I know not whether that which ye are promised is near or far. [RK]:If they turn away, then say, "I have warned you sufficiently, and I have no idea how soon or late (the retribution) will come to you.
1034 | [21:110] Line:2593 |
| ||
[YA]: "It is He Who knows what is open in speech and what ye hide (in your hearts). [RK]:"He is fully aware of your public utterances, and He is fully aware of everything you conceal.
1035 | [21:112] Line:2595 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "O my Lord! judge Thou in truth!" "Our Lord Most Gracious is the One Whose assistance should be sought against the blasphemies ye utter!" [RK]:Say, "My Lord, Your judgment is the absolute justice. Our Lord is the Most Gracious; only His help is sought in the face of your claims."
1036 | [22:24] Line:2619 |
| ||
[YA]: For they have been guided (in this life) to the purest of speeches; they have been guided to the Path of Him Who is Worthy of (all) Praise. [RK]:They have been guided to the good words; they have been guided in the path of the Most Praised.
1037 | [22:30] Line:2625 |
| ||
[YA]: Such (is the Pilgrimage): whoever honours the sacred rites of Allah, for him it is good in the Sight of his Lord. Lawful to you (for food in Pilgrimage) are cattle, except those mentioned to you (as exception): but shun the abomination of idols, and shun the word that is false,- [RK]:Those who reverence the rites decreed by GOD have deserved a good reward at their Lord. All livestock is made lawful for your food, except for those specifically prohibited for you. You shall avoid the abomination of idol worship, and avoid bearing false witness.
1038 | [22:40] Line:2635 |
| ||
[YA]: (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will). [RK]:They were evicted from their homes unjustly, for no reason other than saying, "Our Lord is GOD." If it were not for GOD's supporting of some people against others, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and masjids - where the name of GOD is commemorated frequently - would have been destroyed. Absolutely, GOD supports those who support Him. GOD is Powerful, Almighty.
1039 | [22:49] Line:2644 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "O men! I am (sent) to you only to give a Clear Warning: [RK]:Say, "O people, I have been sent to you as a profound warner."
1040 | [22:68] Line:2663 |
| ||
[YA]: If they do wrangle with thee, say, "Allah knows best what it is ye are doing." [RK]:If they argue with you, then say, "GOD is fully aware of everything you do."
1041 | [22:72] Line:2667 |
| ||
[YA]: When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, thou wilt notice a denial on the faces of the Unbelievers! they nearly attack with violence those who rehearse Our Signs to them. Say, "Shall I tell you of something (far) worse than these Signs? It is the Fire (of Hell)! Allah has promised it to the Unbelievers! and evil is that destination!" [RK]:When our revelations are recited to them, clearly, you recognize wickedness on the faces of those who disbelieve. They almost attack those who recite our revelations to them. Say, "Shall I inform you of something much worse? Hell is promised by GOD for those who disbelieve; what a miserable destiny."
1042 | [23:23] Line:2696 |
| ||
[YA]: (Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?" [RK]:We sent Noah to his people, saying, "O my people, worship GOD. You have no other god beside Him. Would you not be righteous?"
1043 | [23:24] Line:2697 |
| ||
[YA]: The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old." [RK]:The leaders who disbelieved among his people said, "This is no more than a human like you, who wants to gain prominence among you. Had GOD willed, He could have sent down angels. We never heard of anything like this from our ancestors.
1044 | [23:26] Line:2699 |
| ||
[YA]: (Noah) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood!" [RK]:He said, "My Lord, grant me victory, for they have disbelieved me."
1045 | [23:27] Line:2700 |
| ||
[YA]: So We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our Command, and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy family- except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: And address Me not in favour of the wrong-doers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood). [RK]:We then inspired him: "Make the watercraft under our watchful eyes, and in accordance with our inspiration. When our command comes, and the atmosphere boils up, put on it a pair of every kind (of your domesticated animals), and your family, except those condemned to be doomed. Do not speak to Me on behalf of those who transgressed; they will be drowned.
1046 | [23:28] Line:2701 |
| ||
[YA]: And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong." [RK]:"Once you are settled, together with those who are with you, on the watercraft, you shall say, `Praise GOD for saving us from the evil people.'
1047 | [23:29] Line:2702 |
| ||
[YA]: And say: "O my Lord! enable me to disembark with thy blessing: for Thou art the Best to enable (us) to disembark." [RK]:"And say, `My Lord, let me disembark onto a blessed location; You are the best deliverer.' "
1048 | [23:33] Line:2706 |
| ||
[YA]: And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. [RK]:The leaders among his people who disbelieved and rejected the idea of the Hereafter - although we provided for them generously in this life - said, "This is no more than a human being like you. He eats from what you eat, and drinks as you drink.
1049 | [23:39] Line:2712 |
| ||
[YA]: (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." [RK]:He said, "My Lord, grant me victory, for they have disbelieved me."
1050 | [23:40] Line:2713 |
| ||
[YA]: (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" [RK]:He said, "Soon they will be sorry."
