[YA]: So Zakariya came out to his people from him chamber: He told them by signs to celebrate Allah's praises in the morning and in the evening.

[RK]:He came out to his family, from the sanctuary, and signaled to them: "Meditate (on God) day and night."

Faatat bihi qawmaha tahmiluhuqaloo ya maryamu laqad ji/ti shay-an fariyyanفاتت به قومها تحمله قالوا يامريم لقد جئت شيئا فريا
[YA]: At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!

[RK]:She came to her family, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have committed something that is totally unexpected.

[YA]: Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve ye: this is a Way that is straight.

[RK]:He also proclaimed, "GOD is my Lord and your Lord; you shall worship Him alone. This is the right path."

Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunabayyinatin qala allatheena kafaroo lillatheenaamanoo ayyu alfareeqayni khayrun maqaman waahsanunadiyyanواذا تتلي عليهم اياتنا بينات قال الذين كفروا للذين امنوا اي الفريقين خير مقاما واحسن نديا
[YA]: When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, the Unbelievers say to those who believe, "Which of the two sides is best in point of position? Which makes the best show in council?"

[RK]:When our revelations are recited to them, clearly, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of us is more prosperous? Which of us is in the majority?"

Wakulluhum ateehi yawma alqiyamatifardanوكلهم اتيه يوم القيامة فردا
[YA]: And everyone of them will come to Him singly on the Day of Judgment.

[RK]:All of them will come before Him on the Day of Resurrection as individuals.

Fa-innama yassarnahu bilisanikalitubashshira bihi almuttaqeena watunthira bihi qawmanluddanفانما يسرناه بلسانك لتبشر به المتقين وتنذر به قوما لدا
[YA]: So have We made the (Qur'an) easy in thine own tongue, that with it thou mayest give Glad Tidings to the righteous, and warnings to people given to contention.

[RK]:We thus made this (Quran) elucidated in your tongue, in order to deliver good news to the righteous, and to warn with it the opponents.

[YA]: "Verily, I am Allah: There is no god but I: So serve thou Me (only), and establish regular prayer for celebrating My praise.

[RK]:"I am GOD; there is no other god beside Me. You shall worship Me alone, and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) to remember Me.

[YA]: Pharaoh led his people astray instead of leading them aright.

[RK]:Thus, Pharaoh misled his people; he did not guide them.

[YA]: (When Moses was up on the Mount, Allah said:) "What made thee hasten in advance of thy people, O Moses?"

[RK]:"Why did you rush away from your people, O Moses?"

Qala fa-inna qad fatannaqawmaka min baAAdika waadallahumu alssamiriyyuقال فانا قد فتنا قومك من بعدك واضلهم السامري
[YA]: (Allah) said: "We have tested thy people in thy absence: the Samiri has led them astray."

[RK]:He said, "We have put your people to the test after you left, but the Samarian misled them."

[YA]: So Moses returned to his people in a state of indignation and sorrow. He said: "O my people! did not your Lord make a handsome promise to you? Did then the promise seem to you long (in coming)? Or did ye desire that Wrath should descend from your Lord on you, and so ye broke your promise to me?"

[RK]:Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed, saying, "O my people, did your Lord not promise you a good promise? Could you not wait? Did you want to incur wrath from your Lord? Is this why you broke your agreement with me?"

Qaloo ma akhlafnamawAAidaka bimalkina walakinna hummilnaawzaran min zeenati alqawmi faqathafnahafakathalika alqa alssamiriyyuقالوا مااخلفنا موعدك بملكنا ولكنا حملنا اوزارا من زينة القوم فقذفناها فكذلك القي السامري
[YA]: They said: "We broke not the promise to thee, as far as lay in our power: but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the (whole) people, and we threw them (into the fire), and that was what the Samiri suggested.

[RK]:They said, "We did not break our agreement with you on purpose. But we were loaded down with jewelry, and decided to throw our loads in. This is what the Samarian suggested."

Walaqad qala lahum haroonu minqablu ya qawmi innama futintum bihi wa-innarabbakumu alrrahmanu faittabiAAooneewaateeAAoo amreeولقد قال لهم هارون من قبل ياقوم انما فتنتم به وان ربكم الرحمن فاتبعوني واطيعوا امري
[YA]: Aaron had already, before this said to them: "O my people! ye are being tested in this: for verily your Lord is (Allah) Most Gracious; so follow me and obey my command."

[RK]:And Aaron had told them, "O my people, this is a test for you. Your only Lord is the Most Gracious, so follow me, and obey my commands."

Man aAArada AAanhu fa-innahu yahmiluyawma alqiyamati wizranمن اعرض عنه فانه يحمل يوم القيامة وزرا
[YA]: If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment;

[RK]:Those who disregard it will bear a load (of sins) on the Day of Resurrection.

[YA]: They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,-

[RK]:Eternally they abide therein; what a miserable load on the Day of Resurrection!

WaAAanati alwujoohu lilhayyialqayyoomi waqad khaba man hamala thulmanوعنت الوجوه للحي القيوم وقد خاب من حمل ظلما
[YA]: (All) faces shall be humbled before (Him) - the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal: hopeless indeed will be the man that carries iniquity (on his back).

[RK]:All faces will submit to the Living, the Eternal, and those who are burdened by their transgressions will fail.

Waman aAArada AAan thikreefa-inna lahu maAAeeshatan dankan wanahshuruhuyawma alqiyamati aAAmanومن اعرض عن ذكري فان له معيشة ضنكا ونحشره يوم القيامة اعمي
[YA]: "But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment."

[RK]:"As for the one who disregards My message, he will have a miserable life, and we resurrect him, on the Day of Resurrection, blind."

Wakam qasamna min qaryatin kanatthalimatan waansha/na baAAdahaqawman akhareenaوكم قصمنا من قرية كانت ظالمة وانشانا بعدها قوما اخرين
[YA]: How many were the populations We utterly destroyed because of their iniquities, setting up in their places other peoples?

[RK]:Many a community we terminated because of their transgression, and we substituted other people in their place.

WanadaAAu almawazeena alqistaliyawmi alqiyamati fala tuthlamunafsun shay-an wa-in kana mithqala habbatinmin khardalin atayna biha wakafa binahasibeenaونضع الموازين القسط ليوم القيامة فلاتظلم نفس شيئا وان كان مثقال حبة من خردل اتينا بها وكفي بنا حاسبين
[YA]: We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take account.

[RK]:We will establish the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection. No soul will suffer the least injustice. Even the equivalent of a mustard seed will be accounted for. We are the most efficient reckoners.

Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mahathihi alttamatheelu allatee antum lahaAAakifoonaاذ قال لابيه وقومه ماهذه التماثيل التي انتم لها عاكفون
[YA]: Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?"

[RK]:He said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoting yourselves?"

WajaAAalnahum a-immatan yahdoonabi-amrina waawhayna ilayhim fiAAla alkhayratiwa-iqama alssalati wa-eetaa alzzakatiwakanoo lana AAabideenaوجعلناهم ائمة يهدون بامرنا واوحينا اليهم فعل الخيرات واقام الصلاة وايتاء الزكاة وكانوا لنا عابدين
[YA]: And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only).

[RK]:We made them imams who guided in accordance with our commandments, and we taught them how to work righteousness, and how to observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and the obligatory charity (Zakat). To us, they were devoted worshipers.

Walootan ataynahu hukmanwaAAilman wanajjaynahu mina alqaryati allatee kanattaAAmalu alkhaba-itha innahum kanoo qawma saw-in fasiqeenaولوطا اتيناه حكما وعلما ونجيناه من القرية التي كانت تعمل الخبائث انهم كانوا قوم سوء فاسقين
[YA]: And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people.

[RK]:As for Lot, we granted him wisdom and knowledge, and we saved him from the community that practiced abominations; they were wicked and evil people.

[YA]: We helped him against people who rejected Our Signs: truly they were a people given to Evil: so We drowned them (in the Flood) all together.

[RK]:We supported him against the people who rejected our revelations. They were evil people, so we drowned them all.

[YA]: We helped him against people who rejected Our Signs: truly they were a people given to Evil: so We drowned them (in the Flood) all together.

[RK]:We supported him against the people who rejected our revelations. They were evil people, so we drowned them all.

Wadawooda wasulaymana ithyahkumani fee alharthi ith nafashatfeehi ghanamu alqawmi wakunna lihukmihim shahideenaوداود وسليمان اذ يحكمان في الحرث اذ نفشت فيه غنم القوم وكنا لحكمهم شاهدين
[YA]: And remember David and Solomon, when they gave judgment in the matter of the field into which the sheep of certain people had strayed by night: We did witness their judgment.

[RK]:And David and Solomon, when they once ruled with regard to someone's crop that was destroyed by another's sheep, we witnessed their judgment.

[YA]: Verily in this (Qur'an) is a Message for people who would (truly) worship Allah.

[RK]:This is a proclamation for people who are worshipers.

Thaniya AAitfihi liyudillaAAan sabeeli Allahi lahu fee alddunyakhizyun wanutheequhu yawma alqiyamati AAathabaalhareeqiثاني عطفه ليضل عن سبيل الله له في الدنيا خزي ونذيقه يوم القيامة عذاب الحريق
[YA]: (Disdainfully) bending his side, in order to lead (men) astray from the Path of Allah: for him there is disgrace in this life, and on the Day of Judgment We shall make him taste the Penalty of burning (Fire).

[RK]:Arrogantly he strives to divert the people from the path of GOD. He thus incurs humiliation in this life, and we commit him on the Day of Resurrection to the agony of burning.

Inna allatheena amanoo waallatheenahadoo waalssabi-eena waalnnasarawaalmajoosa waallatheena ashrakoo inna Allahayafsilu baynahum yawma alqiyamati inna AllahaAAala kulli shay-in shaheedunان الذين امنوا والذين هادوا والصابئين والنصاري والمجوس والذين اشركوا ان الله يفصل بينهم يوم القيامة ان الله علي كل شئ شهيد
[YA]: Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians, Christians, Magians, and Polytheists,- Allah will judge between them on the Day of Judgment: for Allah is witness of all things.

[RK]:Those who believe, those who are Jewish, the converts, the Christians, the Zoroastrians, and the idol worshipers, GOD is the One who will judge among them on the Day of Resurrection. GOD witnesses all things.

Allatheena itha thukiraAllahu wajilat quloobuhum waalssabireenaAAala ma asabahum waalmuqeemee alssalatiwamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoonaالذين اذا ذكر الله وجلت قلوبهم والصابرين علي مااصابهم والمقيمي الصلاة ومما رزقناهم ينفقون
[YA]: To those whose hearts when Allah is mentioned, are filled with fear, who show patient perseverance over their afflictions, keep up regular prayer, and spend (in charity) out of what We have bestowed upon them.

[RK]:They are the ones whose hearts tremble upon mentioning GOD, they steadfastly persevere during adversity, they observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), and from our provisions to them, they give to charity.

Allatheena in makkannahum feeal-ardi aqamoo alssalata waatawooalzzakata waamaroo bialmaAAroofi wanahawAAani almunkari walillahi AAaqibatu al-omooriالذين ان مكناهم في الارض اقاموا الصلاة واتوا الزكاة وامروا بالمعروف ونهوا عن المنكر ولله عاقبة الامور
[YA]: (They are) those who, if We establish them in the land, establish regular prayer and give regular charity, enjoin the right and forbid wrong: with Allah rests the end (and decision) of (all) affairs.

[RK]:They are those who, if we appointed them as rulers on earth, they would establish the Contact Prayers (Salat) and the obligatory charity (Zakat), and would advocate righteousness and forbid evil. GOD is the ultimate ruler.

Wa-in yukaththibooka faqad kaththabatqablahum qawmu noohin waAAadun wathamooduوان يكذبوك فقد كذبت قبلهم قوم نوح وعاد وثمود
[YA]: If they treat thy (mission) as false, so did the peoples before them (with their prophets),- the People of Noah, and 'Ad and Thamud;

[RK]:If they reject you, the people of Noah, `Aad, and Thamoud have also disbelieved before them.

WaliyaAAlama allatheena ootooalAAilma annahu alhaqqu min rabbika fayu/minoo bihifatukhbita lahu quloobuhum wa-inna Allaha lahadiallatheena amanoo ila siratinmustaqeeminوليعلم الذين اوتوا العلم انه الحق من ربك فيؤمنوا به فتخبت له قلوبهم وان الله لهاد الذين امنوا الي صراط مستقيم
[YA]: And that those on whom knowledge has been bestowed may learn that the (Qur'an) is the Truth from thy Lord, and that they may believe therein, and their hearts may be made humbly (open) to it: for verily Allah is the Guide of those who believe, to the Straight Way.

[RK]:Those who are blessed with knowledge will recognize the truth from your Lord, then believe in it, and their hearts will readily accept it. Most assuredly, GOD guides the believers in the right path.

Likulli ommatin jaAAalna mansakan humnasikoohu fala yunaziAAunnaka fee al-amri waodAAuila rabbika innaka laAAala hudan mustaqeeminلكل امة جعلنا منسكا هم ناسكوه فلاينازعنك في الامر وادع الي ربك انك لعلي هدي مستقيم
[YA]: To every People have We appointed rites and ceremonies which they must follow: let them not then dispute with thee on the matter, but do thou invite (them) to thy Lord: for thou art assuredly on the Right Way.

[RK]:For each congregation, we have decreed a set of rites that they must uphold. Therefore, they should not dispute with you. You shall continue to invite everyone to your Lord. Most assuredly, you are on the right path.

Allahu yahkumu baynakum yawmaalqiyamati feema kuntum feehi takhtalifoonaالله يحكم بينكم يوم القيامة فيما كنتم فيه تختلفون
[YA]: "Allah will judge between you on the Day of Judgment concerning the matters in which ye differ."

[RK]:GOD will judge among you on the Day of Resurrection regarding all your disputes.

Wajahidoo fee Allahi haqqajihadihi huwa ijtabakum wama jaAAalaAAalaykum fee alddeeni min harajin millata abeekumibraheema huwa sammakumu almuslimeena min qabluwafee hatha liyakoona alrrasoolu shaheedanAAalaykum watakoonoo shuhadaa AAala alnnasifaaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakatawaiAAtasimoo biAllahi huwa mawlakumfaniAAma almawla waniAAma alnnaseeruوجاهدوا في الله حق جهاده هو اجتباكم وماجعل عليكم في الدين من حرج ملة ابيكم ابراهيم هو سماكم المسلمين من قبل وفي هذا ليكون الرسول شهيدا عليكم وتكونوا شهداء علي الناس فاقيموا الصلاة واتوا الزكاة واعتصموا بالله هو مولاكم فنعم المولي ونعم النصير
[YA]: And strive in His cause as ye ought to strive, (with sincerity and under discipline). He has chosen you, and has imposed no difficulties on you in religion; it is the cult of your father Abraham. It is He Who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (Revelation); that the Messenger may be a witness for you, and ye be witnesses for mankind! So establish regular Prayer, give regular Charity, and hold fast to Allah! He is your Protector - the Best to protect and the Best to help!

[RK]:You shall strive for the cause of GOD as you should strive for His cause. He has chosen you and has placed no hardship on you in practicing your religion - the religion of your father Abraham. He is the one who named you "Submitters" originally. Thus, the messenger shall serve as a witness among you, and you shall serve as witnesses among the people. Therefore, you shall observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat), and hold fast to GOD; He is your Lord, the best Lord and the best Supporter.

[YA]: Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up.

[RK]:Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be resurrected.

Walaqad arsalna noohan ilaqawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha malakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoonaولقد ارسلنا نوحا الي قومه فقال ياقوم اعبدوا الله مالكم من اله غيره افلا تتقون
[YA]: (Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"

[RK]:We sent Noah to his people, saying, "O my people, worship GOD. You have no other god beside Him. Would you not be righteous?"

[YA]: (Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"

[RK]:We sent Noah to his people, saying, "O my people, worship GOD. You have no other god beside Him. Would you not be righteous?"

Faqala almalao allatheenakafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharunmithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaaAllahu laanzala mala-ikatan ma samiAAnabihatha fee aba-ina al-awwaleenaفقال الملؤا الذين كفروا من قومه ماهذا الا بشر مثلكم يريد ان يتفضل عليكم ولو شاء الله لانزل ملائكة ماسمعنا بهذا في ابائنا الاولين
[YA]: The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old."

[RK]:The leaders who disbelieved among his people said, "This is no more than a human like you, who wants to gain prominence among you. Had GOD willed, He could have sent down angels. We never heard of anything like this from our ancestors.

Fa-itha istawayta anta waman maAAakaAAala alfulki faquli alhamdu lillahi allatheenajjana mina alqawmi alththalimeenaفاذا استويت انت ومن معك علي الفلك فقل الحمد لله الذي نجانا من القوم الظالمين
[YA]: And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong."

[RK]:"Once you are settled, together with those who are with you, on the watercraft, you shall say, `Praise GOD for saving us from the evil people.'

Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheenakafaroo wakaththaboo biliqa-i al-akhiratiwaatrafnahum fee alhayati alddunyama hatha illa basharun mithlukum ya/kulumimma ta/kuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboonaوقال الملا من قومه الذين كفروا وكذبوا بلقاء الاخرة واترفناهم في الحياة الدنيا ماهذا الا بشر مثلكم ياكل مما تاكلون منه ويشرب مما تشربون
[YA]: And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink.

[RK]:The leaders among his people who disbelieved and rejected the idea of the Hereafter - although we provided for them generously in this life - said, "This is no more than a human being like you. He eats from what you eat, and drinks as you drink.

Faakhathat-humu alssayhatubialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaanfabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeenaفاخذتهم الصيحة بالحق فجعلناهم غثاء فبعدا للقوم الظالمين
[YA]: Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong!

[RK]:The retribution struck them, equitably, and thus, we turned them into ruins. The wicked people perished.

Thumma arsalna rusulana tatrakulla ma jaa ommatan rasooluha kaththaboohufaatbaAAna baAAdahum baAAdan wajaAAalnahumahadeetha fabuAAdan liqawmin la yu/minoonaثم ارسلنا رسلنا تترا كلما جاء امة رسولها كذبوه فاتبعنا بعضهم بعضا وجعلناهم احاديث فبعدا لقوم لايؤمنون
[YA]: Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe!

[RK]:Then we sent our messengers in succession. Every time a messenger went to his community, they disbelieved him. Consequently, we annihilated them, one after the other, and made them history. The people who disbelieved have perished.

Ila firAAawna wamala-ihi faistakbaroowakanoo qawman AAaleenaالي فرعون وملئه فاستكبروا وكانوا قوما عالين
[YA]: To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people.

[RK]:To Pharaoh and his elders, but they turned arrogant. They were oppressive people.

Faqaloo anu/minu libasharayni mithlinawaqawmuhuma lana AAabidoonaفقالوا انؤمن لبشرين مثلنا وقومهما لنا عابدون
[YA]: They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!"

[RK]:They said, "Shall we believe for two men whose people are our slaves?"

Wa-innaka latadAAoohum ila siratinmustaqeeminوانك لتدعوهم الي صراط مستقيم
[YA]: But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way;

[RK]:Most assuredly, you are inviting them to a straight path.

Rabbi fala tajAAalnee fee alqawmi alththalimeenaرب فلا تجعلني في القوم الظالمين
[YA]: "Then, O my Lord! put me not amongst the people who do wrong!"

[RK]:"My Lord, let me not be one of the transgressing people."
