[YA]: And they say: "What sort of a messenger is this, who eats food, and walks through the streets? Why has not an angel been sent down to him to give admonition with him?

[RK]:And they said, "How come this messenger eats the food and walks in the markets? If only an angel could come down with him, to serve with him as a preacher!"

Tabaraka allathee in shaajaAAala laka khayran min thalika jannatin tajreemin tahtiha al-anharu wayajAAal laka qusooranتبارك الذي ان شاء جعل لك خيرا من ذلك جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار ويجعل لك قصورا
[YA]: Blessed is He who, if that were His will, could give thee better (things) than those,- Gardens beneath which rivers flow; and He could give thee palaces (secure to dwell in).

[RK]:Most blessed is the One who can, if He wills, give you much better than their demands - gardens with flowing streams, and many mansions.

Qul athalika khayrun am jannatualkhuldi allatee wuAAida almuttaqoona kanat lahum jazaanwamaseeranقل اذلك خير ام جنة الخلد التي وعد المتقون كانت لهم جزاء ومصيرا
[YA]: Say: "Is that best, or the eternal garden, promised to the righteous? for them, that is a reward as well as a goal (of attainment).

[RK]:Say, "Is this better or the eternal Paradise that is promised for the righteous? It is their well deserved reward; a well deserved destiny."

Wayawma yahshuruhum wamayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi fayaqoolu aantum adlaltumAAibadee haola-i am hum dalloo alssabeelaويوم يحشرهم ومايعبدون من دون الله فيقول ءانتم اضللتم عبادي هؤلاء ام هم ضلوا السبيل
[YA]: The day He will gather them together as well as those whom they worship besides Allah, He will ask: "Was it ye who let these My servants astray, or did they stray from the Path themselves?"

[RK]:On the day when He summons them, together with the idols they had set up beside GOD, He will say, "Have you misled these servants of Mine, or did they go astray on their own?"

Waqala allatheena layarjoona liqaana lawla onzila AAalaynaalmala-ikatu aw nara rabbana laqadiistakbaroo fee anfusihim waAAataw AAutuwwan kabeeranوقال الذين لايرجون لقاءنا لولا انزل علينا الملائكة او نري ربنا لقد استكبروا في انفسهم وعتوا عتوا كبيرا
[YA]: Such as fear not the meeting with Us (for Judgment) say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety!

[RK]:Those who do not expect to meet us said, "If only the angels could come down to us, or we could see our Lord (we would then believe)!" Indeed, they have committed a gross arrogance, and have produced a gross blasphemy.

Waqala alrrasoolu yarabbi inna qawmee ittakhathoo hatha alqur-anamahjooranوقال الرسول يارب ان قومي اتخذوا هذا القران مهجورا
[YA]: Then the Messenger will say: "O my Lord! Truly my people took this Qur'an for just foolish nonsense."

[RK]:The messenger said, "My Lord, my people have deserted this Quran."

Wakathalika jaAAalna likullinabiyyin AAaduwwan mina almujrimeena wakafa birabbika hadiyanwanaseeranوكذلك جعلنا لكل نبي عدوا من المجرمين وكفي بربك هاديا ونصيرا
[YA]: Thus have We made for every prophet an enemy among the sinners: but enough is thy Lord to guide and to help.

[RK]:We also set up against every prophet enemies from among the guilty. Your Lord suffices as a guide, a master.

[YA]: Those who reject Faith say: "Why is not the Qur'an revealed to him all at once? Thus (is it revealed), that We may strengthen thy heart thereby, and We have rehearsed it to thee in slow, well-arranged stages, gradually.

[RK]:Those who disbelieved said, "Why did not the Quran come through him all at once?" We have released it to you gradually, in order to fix it in your memory. We have recited it in a specific sequence.

[YA]: Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces,- they will be in an evil plight, and, as to Path, most astray.

[RK]:Those who are forcibly summoned to Hell are in the worst position; they are the farthest from the right path.

[YA]: And We command: "Go ye both, to the people who have rejected our Signs:" And those (people) We destroyed with utter destruction.

[RK]:We said, "Go, both of you, to the people who rejected our revelations," and subsequently, we utterly annihilated the rejectors.

[YA]: As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them.

[RK]:Also `Aad, Thamoud, the inhabitants of Al-Russ, and many generations between them.

Wa-itha raawka in yattakhithoonakailla huzuwan ahatha allathee baAAatha Allahurasoolanواذا راوك ان يتخذونك الا هزوا اهذا الذي بعث الله رسولا
[YA]: When they see thee, they treat thee no otherwise than in mockery: "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger?"

[RK]:When they saw you, they always ridiculed you: "Is this the one chosen by GOD to be a messenger?

Wahuwa allathee maraja albahraynihatha AAathbun furatun wahatha milhunojajun wajaAAala baynahuma barzakhan wahijranmahjooranوهو الذي مرج البحرين هذا عذب فرات وهذا ملح اجاج وجعل بينهما برزخا وحجرا محجورا
[YA]: It is He Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: One palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter; yet has He made a barrier between them, a partition that is forbidden to be passed.

[RK]:He is the One who merges the two seas; one is fresh and palatable, while the other is salty and undrinkable. And He separated them with a formidable, inviolable barrier (evaporation).

[YA]: And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!";

[RK]:The worshipers of the Most Gracious are those who tread the earth gently, and when the ignorant speak to them, they only utter peace.

[YA]: Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing;

[RK]:In the privacy of the night, they meditate on their Lord, and fall prostrate.

Waallatheena yaqooloona rabbanaisrif AAanna AAathaba jahannama inna AAathabahakana gharamanوالذين يقولون ربنا اصرف عنا عذاب جهنم ان عذابها كان غراما
[YA]: Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,-

[RK]:And they say, "Our Lord, spare us the agony of Hell; its retribution is horrendous.

Waallatheena ithaanfaqoo lam yusrifoo walam yaqturoo wakana bayna thalikaqawamanوالذين اذا انفقوا لم يسرفوا ولم يقتروا وكان بين ذلك قواما
[YA]: Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);

[RK]:When they give, they are neither extravagant nor stingy; they give in moderation.

[YA]: Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment.

[RK]:They never implore beside GOD any other god, nor do they kill anyone - for GOD has made life sacred - except in the course of justice. Nor do they commit adultery. Those who commit these offenses will have to pay.

[YA]: Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,

[RK]:Exempted are those who repent, believe, and lead a righteous life. GOD transforms their sins into credits. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Waallatheena layashhadoona alzzoora wa-itha marroo biallaghwimarroo kiramanوالذين لايشهدون الزور واذا مروا باللغو مروا كراما
[YA]: Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honourable (avoidance);

[RK]:They do not bear false witness. When they encounter vain talk, they ignore it.

Waallatheena itha thukkiroobi-ayati rabbihim lam yakhirroo AAalayha summanwaAAumyananوالذين اذا ذكروا بايات ربهم لم يخروا عليها صما وعميانا
[YA]: Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop not down at them as if they were deaf or blind;

[RK]:When reminded of their Lord's revelations, they never react to them as if they were deaf and blind.

Waallatheena yaqooloona rabbanahab lana min azwajina wathurriyyatinaqurrata aAAyunin waijAAalna lilmuttaqeena imamanوالذين يقولون ربنا هب لنا من ازواجنا وذرياتنا قرة اعين واجعلنا للمتقين اماما
[YA]: And those who pray, "Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous."

[RK]:And they say, "Our Lord, let our spouses and children be a source of joy for us, and keep us in the forefront of the righteous."

Ola-ika yujzawna alghurfata bimasabaroo wayulaqqawna feeha tahiyyatan wasalamanاولئك يجزون الغرفة بما صبروا ويلقون فيها تحية وسلاما
[YA]: Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven, because of their patient constancy: therein shall they be met with salutations and peace,

[RK]:These are the ones who attain Paradise in return for their steadfastness; they are received therein with joyous greetings and peace.

[YA]: These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.

[YA]: "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"

[RK]:"You are boasting that you did me a favor, while enslaving the Children of Israel!"

[YA]: (Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:

[RK]:They thus disbelieved and, consequently, we annihilated them. This should be a lesson, but most people are not believers.

[YA]: "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)."

[RK]:The retribution overwhelmed them. This should be a lesson, but most people are not believers.

[YA]: Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!

[RK]:Exempted are those who believe, lead a righteous life, commemorate GOD frequently, and stand up for their rights. Surely, the transgressors will find out what their ultimate destiny is.

[YA]: Those who establish regular prayers and give in regular charity, and also have (full) assurance of the hereafter.

[RK]:Who observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), give the obligatory charity (Zakat), and they are, with regard to the Hereafter, absolutely certain.

Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabial-akhirati zayyanna lahum aAAmalahumfahum yaAAmahoonaان الذين لايؤمنون بالاخرة زينا لهم اعمالهم فهم يعمهون
[YA]: As to those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds pleasing in their eyes; and so they wander about in distraction.

[RK]:Those who do not believe in the Hereafter, we adorn their works in their eyes. Thus, they continue to blunder.
