[YA]: And to those who believe not in the Hereafter, (it announceth) that We have prepared for them a Penalty Grievous (indeed). [RK]:As for those who disbelieve in the Hereafter, we have prepared for them a painful retribution.
1054 | [17:19] Line:2048 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who do wish for the (things of) the Hereafter, and strive therefor with all due striving, and have Faith,- they are the ones whose striving is acceptable (to Allah). [RK]:As for those who choose the Hereafter as their priority, and work righteousness, while believing, their efforts will be appreciated.
1055 | [17:20] Line:2049 |

[YA]: Of the bounties of thy Lord We bestow freely on all- These as well as those: The bounties of thy Lord are not closed (to anyone). [RK]:For each one of them we provide; we provide for those and these from your Lord's bounties. Your Lord's bounties are inexhaustible.

[YA]: And render to the kindred their due rights, as (also) to those in want, and to the wayfarer: But squander not (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift. [RK]:You shall give the due alms to the relatives, the needy, the poor, and the traveling alien, but do not be excessive, extravagant.
1058 | [17:35] Line:2064 |
| ||
[YA]: Give full measure when ye measure, and weigh with a balance that is straight: that is the most fitting and the most advantageous in the final determination. [RK]:You shall give full measure when you trade, and weigh equitably. This is better and more righteous.
1059 | [17:36] Line:2065 |
| ||
[YA]: And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning). [RK]:You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them.
1060 | [17:38] Line:2067 |
| ||
[YA]: Of all such things the evil is hateful in the sight of thy Lord. [RK]:All bad behavior is condemned by your Lord.
1061 | [17:39] Line:2068 |
| ||
[YA]: These are among the (precepts of) wisdom, which thy Lord has revealed to thee. Take not, with Allah, another object of worship, lest thou shouldst be thrown into Hell, blameworthy and rejected. [RK]:This is some of the wisdom inspired to you by your Lord. You shall not set up another god beside GOD, lest you end up in Gehenna, blamed and defeated.
1062 | [17:41] Line:2070 |
| ||
[YA]: We have explained (things) in various (ways) in this Qur'an, in order that they may receive admonition, but it only increases their flight (from the Truth)! [RK]:We have cited in this Quran (all kinds of examples), that they may take heed. But it only augments their aversion.
1063 | [17:42] Line:2071 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: If there had been (other) gods with Him, as they say,- behold, they would certainly have sought out a way to the Lord of the Throne! [RK]:Say, "If there were any other gods beside Him, as they claim, they would have tried to overthrow the Possessor of the throne."
1064 | [17:45] Line:2074 |
| ||
[YA]: When thou dost recite the Qur'an, We put, between thee and those who believe not in the Hereafter, a veil invisible: [RK]:When you read the Quran, we place between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter an invisible barrier.
1065 | [17:56] Line:2085 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Call on those - besides Him - whom ye fancy: they have neither the power to remove your troubles from you nor to change them." [RK]:Say, "Implore whatever idols you have set up beside Him." They have no power to relieve your afflictions, nor can they prevent them.
1066 | [17:57] Line:2086 |
| ||
[YA]: Those whom they call upon do desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord, - even those who are nearest: they hope for His Mercy and fear His Wrath: for the Wrath of thy Lord is something to take heed of. [RK]:Even the idols that they implore are seeking the ways and means towards their Lord. They pray for His mercy, and fear His retribution. Surely, the retribution of your Lord is dreadful.
1067 | [17:57] Line:2086 |

1068 | [17:58] Line:2087 |
| ||
[YA]: There is not a population but We shall destroy it before the Day of Judgment or punish it with a dreadful Penalty: that is written in the (eternal) Record. [RK]:There is not a community that we will not annihilate before the Day of Resurrection, or inflict severe retribution upon them. This is already written down in the book.
1069 | [17:62] Line:2091 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "Seest Thou? this is the one whom Thou hast honoured above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my sway - all but a few!" [RK]:He said, "Since You have honored him over me, if You respite me till the Day of Resurrection, I will possess all his descendants, except a few."
1070 | [17:71] Line:2100 |
| ||
[YA]: One day We shall call together all human beings with their (respective) Imams: those who are given their record in their right hand will read it (with pleasure), and they will not be dealt with unjustly in the least. [RK]:The day will come when we summon every people, together with their record. As for those who are given a record of righteousness, they will read their record and will not suffer the least injustice.
1071 | [17:88] Line:2117 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support. [RK]:Say, "If all the humans and all the jinns banded together in order to produce a Quran like this, they could never produce anything like it, no matter how much assistance they lent one another."
1072 | [17:89] Line:2118 |
| ||
[YA]: And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! [RK]:We have cited for the people in this Quran all kinds of examples, but most people insist upon disbelieving.
1073 | [17:98] Line:2127 |
| ||
[YA]: That is their recompense, because they rejected Our signs, and said, "When we are reduced to bones and broken dust, should we really be raised up (to be) a new Creation?" [RK]:Such is their just retribution, since they rejected our revelations. They said, "After we turn into bones and fragments, do we get resurrected into a new creation?"
1074 | [17:102] Line:2131 |
| ||
[YA]: Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening evidence: and I consider thee indeed, O Pharaoh, to be one doomed to destruction!" [RK]:He said, "You know full well that no one can manifest these except, obviously, the Lord of the heavens and the earth. I think that you, Pharaoh, are doomed."
1075 | [17:107] Line:2136 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Whether ye believe in it or not, it is true that those who were given knowledge beforehand, when it is recited to them, fall down on their faces in humble prostration, [RK]:Proclaim, "Believe in it, or do not believe in it." Those who possess knowledge from the previous scriptures, when it is recited to them, they fall down to their chins, prostrating.
1076 | [17:110] Line:2139 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Call upon Allah, or call upon Rahman: by whatever name ye call upon Him, (it is well): for to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Neither speak thy Prayer aloud, nor speak it in a low tone, but seek a middle course between." [RK]:Say, "Call Him GOD, or call Him the Most Gracious; whichever name you use, to Him belongs the best names." You shall not utter your Contact Prayers (Salat) too loudly, nor secretly; use a moderate tone.
1077 | [18:2] Line:2142 |
| ||
[YA]: (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward, [RK]:A perfect (scripture) to warn of severe retribution from Him, and to deliver good news to the believers who lead a righteous life, that they have earned a generous recompense.
1078 | [18:4] Line:2144 |
| ||
[YA]: Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": [RK]:And to warn those who said, "GOD has begotten a son!"
1079 | [18:6] Line:2146 |
| ||
[YA]: Thou wouldst only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message. [RK]:You may blame yourself on account of their response to this narration, and their disbelieving in it; you may be saddened.
1080 | [18:15] Line:2155 |
| ||
[YA]: "These our people have taken for worship gods other than Him: why do they not bring forward an authority clear (and convincing) for what they do? Who doth more wrong than such as invent a falsehood against Allah? [RK]:"Here are our people setting up gods beside Him. If only they could provide any proof to support their stand! Who is more evil than the one who fabricates lies and attributes them to GOD?
1081 | [18:17] Line:2157 |
| ||
[YA]: Thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the Cave. Such are among the Signs of Allah: He whom Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the Right Way. [RK]:You could see the sun when it rose coming from the right side of their cave, and when it set, it shone on them from the left, as they slept in the hollow thereof. This is one of GOD's portents. Whomever GOD guides is the truly guided one, and whomever He sends astray, you will not find for him a guiding teacher.
1082 | [18:19] Line:2159 |
| ||
[YA]: Such (being their state), we raised them up (from sleep), that they might question each other. Said one of them, "How long have ye stayed (here)?" They said, "We have stayed (perhaps) a day, or part of a day." (At length) they (all) said, "Allah (alone) knows best how long ye have stayed here.... Now send ye then one of you with this money of yours to the town: let him find out which is the best food (to be had) and bring some to you, that (ye may) satisfy your hunger therewith: And let him behave with care and courtesy, and let him not inform any one about you. [RK]:When we resurrected them, they asked each other, "How long have you been here?" "We have been here one day or part of the day," they answered. "Your Lord knows best how long we stayed here, so let us send one of us with this money to the city. Let him fetch the cleanest food, and buy some for us. Let him keep a low profile, and attract no attention.
1083 | [18:21] Line:2161 |
| ||
[YA]: Thus did We make their case known to the people, that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour of Judgment. Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. (Some) said, "Construct a building over them": Their Lord knows best about them: those who prevailed over their affair said, "Let us surely build a place of worship over them." [RK]:We caused them to be discovered, to let everyone know that GOD's promise is true, and to remove all doubt concerning the end of the world. The people then disputed among themselves regarding them. Some said, "Let us build a building around them." Their Lord is the best knower about them. Those who prevailed said, "We will build a place of worship around them."
1084 | [18:21] Line:2161 |

1085 | [18:23] Line:2163 |
| ||
[YA]: Nor say of anything, "I shall be sure to do so and so tomorrow"- [RK]:You shall not say that you will do anything in the future,
1086 | [18:24] Line:2164 |
| ||
[YA]: Without adding, "So please Allah!" and call thy Lord to mind when thou forgettest, and say, "I hope that my Lord will guide me ever closer (even) than this to the right road." [RK]:without saying, "GOD willing." If you forget to do this, you must immediately remember your Lord and say, "May my Lord guide me to do better next time."
1087 | [18:28] Line:2168 |
| ||
[YA]: And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds. [RK]:You shall force yourself to be with those who worship their Lord day and night, seeking Him alone. Do not turn your eyes away from them, seeking the vanities of this world. Nor shall you obey one whose heart we rendered oblivious to our message; one who pursues his own desires, and whose priorities are confused.
1088 | [18:30] Line:2170 |
| ||
[YA]: As to those who believe and work righteousness, verily We shall not suffer to perish the reward of any who do a (single) righteous deed. [RK]:As for those who believe and lead a righteous life, we never fail to recompense those who work righteousness.
1089 | [18:31] Line:2171 |
| ||
[YA]: For them will be Gardens of Eternity; beneath them rivers will flow; they will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade: They will recline therein on raised thrones. How good the recompense! How beautiful a couch to recline on! [RK]:They have deserved gardens of Eden wherein rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold, and will wear clothes of green silk and velvet, and will rest on comfortable furnishings. What a wonderful reward; what a wonderful abode!
1090 | [18:49] Line:2189 |
| ||
[YA]: And the Book (of Deeds) will be placed (before you); and thou wilt see the sinful in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein; they will say, "Ah! woe to us! what a Book is this! It leaves out nothing small or great, but takes account thereof!" They will find all that they did, placed before them: And not one will thy Lord treat with injustice. [RK]:The record will be shown, and you will see the guilty fearful of its contents. They will say, "Woe to us. How come this book leaves nothing, small or large, without counting it?" They will find everything they had done brought forth. Your Lord is never unjust towards anyone.
1091 | [18:52] Line:2192 |
| ||
[YA]: One Day He will say, "Call on those whom ye thought to be My partners," and they will call on them, but they will not listen to them; and We shall make for them a place of common perdition. [RK]:The day will come when He says, "Call upon My partners, whom you claimed to be gods beside Me," they will call on them, but they will not respond to them. An insurmountable barrier will separate them from each other.
1092 | [18:54] Line:2194 |
| ||
[YA]: We have explained in detail in this Qur'an, for the benefit of mankind, every kind of similitude: but man is, in most things, contentious. [RK]:We have cited in this Quran every kind of example, but the human being is the most argumentative creature.
1093 | [18:56] Line:2196 |
| ||
[YA]: We only send the messengers to give Glad Tidings and to give warnings: But the unbelievers dispute with vain argument, in order therewith to weaken the truth, and they treat My Signs as a jest, as also the fact that they are warned! [RK]:We only send the messengers as simply deliverers of good news, as well as warners. Those who disbelieve argue with falsehood to defeat the truth, and they take My proofs and warnings in vain.
1094 | [18:58] Line:2198 |
| ||
[YA]: But your Lord is Most forgiving, full of Mercy. If He were to call them (at once) to account for what they have earned, then surely He would have hastened their punishment: but they have their appointed time, beyond which they will find no refuge. [RK]:Yet, your Lord is the Forgiver, full of mercy. If He called them to account for their deeds, He would annihilate them right there and then. Instead, He gives them a respite until a specific, predetermined time; then they can never escape.
1095 | [18:59] Line:2199 |
| ||
[YA]: Such were the populations we destroyed when they committed iniquities; but we fixed an appointed time for their destruction. [RK]:Many a community we annihilated because of their transgressions; we designated a specific time for their annihilation.
1096 | [18:62] Line:2202 |

[YA]: When they had passed on (some distance), Moses said to his attendant: "Bring us our early meal; truly we have suffered much fatigue at this (stage of) our journey." [RK]:After they passed that point, he said to his servant, "Let us have lunch. All this traveling has thoroughly exhausted us."
1097 | [18:64] Line:2204 |
| ||
[YA]: Moses said: "That was what we were seeking after:" So they went back on their footsteps, following (the path they had come). [RK]:(Moses) said, "That was the place we were looking for." They traced their steps back.
1098 | [18:78] Line:2218 |
| ||
[YA]: He answered: "This is the parting between me and thee: now will I tell thee the interpretation of (those things) over which thou wast unable to hold patience. [RK]:He said, "Now we have to part company. But I will explain to you everything you could not stand.
1099 | [18:82] Line:2222 |
| ||
[YA]: "As for the wall, it belonged to two youths, orphans, in the Town; there was, beneath it, a buried treasure, to which they were entitled: their father had been a righteous man: So thy Lord desired that they should attain their age of full strength and get out their treasure - a mercy (and favour) from thy Lord. I did it not of my own accord. Such is the interpretation of (those things) over which thou wast unable to hold patience." [RK]:"As for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city. Under it, there was a treasure that belonged to them. Because their father was a righteous man, your Lord wanted them to grow up and attain full strength, then extract their treasure. Such is mercy from your Lord. I did none of that of my own volition. This is the explanation of the things you could not stand."
1100 | [18:83] Line:2223 |
| ||
[YA]: They ask thee concerning Zul-qarnain. Say, "I will rehearse to you something of his story." [RK]:They ask you about Zul-Qarnain. Say, "I will narrate to you some of his history."
