[YA]: Do they just wait for the final fulfilment of the event? On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). Have we no intercessors now to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back? then should we behave differently from our behaviour in the past." In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch. [RK]:Are they waiting until all (prophecies) are fulfilled? The day such fulfillment comes to pass, those who disregarded it in the past will say, "The messengers of our Lord have brought the truth. Are there any intercessors to intercede on our behalf? Would you send us back, so that we change our behavior, and do better works than what we did?" They have lost their souls, and their own innovations have caused their doom.

[YA]: The leaders of his people said: "Ah! we see thee evidently wandering (in mind)." [RK]:The leaders among his people said, "We see that you are far astray."
53 | [7:61] Line:1015 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "O my people! No wandering is there in my (mind): on the contrary I am a messenger from the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds! [RK]:He said, "O my people, I am not astray; I am a messenger from the Lord of the universe.
54 | [7:149] Line:1103 |
| ||
[YA]: When they repented, and saw that they had erred, they said: "If our Lord have not mercy upon us and forgive us, we shall indeed be of those who perish." [RK]:Finally, when they regretted their action, and realized that they had gone astray, they said, "Unless our Lord redeems us with His mercy, and forgives us, we will be losers."
55 | [7:155] Line:1109 |
| ||
[YA]: And Moses chose seventy of his people for Our place of meeting: when they were seized with violent quaking, he prayed: "O my Lord! if it had been Thy will Thou couldst have destroyed, long before, both them and me: wouldst Thou destroy us for the deeds of the foolish ones among us? this is no more than Thy trial: by it Thou causest whom Thou wilt to stray, and Thou leadest whom Thou wilt into the right path. Thou art our Protector: so forgive us and give us Thy mercy; for Thou art the best of those who forgive. [RK]:Moses then selected seventy men from among his people, to come to our appointed audience. When the quake shook them, he said, "My Lord, You could have annihilated them in the past, together with me, if You so willed. Would You annihilate us for the deeds of those among us who are foolish? This must be the test that You have instituted for us. With it, You condemn whomever You will, and guide whomever You will. You are our Lord and Master, so forgive us, shower us with Your mercy; You are the best Forgiver.
56 | [7:178] Line:1132 |
| ||
[YA]: Whom Allah doth guide,- he is on the right path: whom He rejects from His guidance,- such are the persons who perish. [RK]:Whomever GOD guides is the truly guided one, and whomever He commits to straying, these are the losers.
57 | [7:179] Line:1133 |
| ||
[YA]: Many are the Jinns and men we have made for Hell: They have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle,- nay more misguided: for they are heedless (of warning). [RK]:We have committed to Hell multitudes of jinns and humans. They have minds with which they do not understand, eyes with which they do not see, and ears with which they do not hear. They are like animals; no, they are far worse - they are totally unaware.
58 | [7:186] Line:1140 |
| ||
[YA]: To such as Allah rejects from His guidance, there can be no guide: He will leave them in their trespasses, wandering in distraction. [RK]:Whomever GOD commits to straying, there is no way for anyone to guide him. He leaves them in their sins, blundering.
59 | [9:37] Line:1272 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily the transposing (of a prohibited month) is an addition to Unbelief: the Unbelievers are led to wrong thereby: for they make it lawful one year, and forbidden another year, in order to adjust the number of months forbidden by Allah and make such forbidden ones lawful. The evil of their course seems pleasing to them. But Allah guideth not those who reject Faith. [RK]:Altering the Sacred Months is a sign of excessive disbelief; it augments the straying of those who have disbelieved. They alternate the Sacred Months and the regular months, while preserving the number of months consecrated by GOD. They thus violate what GOD has consecrated. Their evil works are adorned in their eyes. GOD does not guide the disbelieving people.
60 | [9:115] Line:1350 |
| ||
[YA]: And Allah will not mislead a people after He hath guided them, in order that He may make clear to them what to fear (and avoid)- for Allah hath knowledge of all things. [RK]:GOD does not send any people astray, after He had guided them, without first pointing out for them what to expect. GOD is fully aware of all things.
61 | [10:30] Line:1394 |
| ||
[YA]: There will every soul prove (the fruits of) the deeds it sent before: they will be brought back to Allah their rightful Lord, and their invented falsehoods will leave them in the lurch. [RK]:That is when each soul will examine everything it had done. They will be returned to GOD, their rightful Lord and Master, and the idols they had fabricated will disown them.
62 | [10:32] Line:1396 |
| ||
[YA]: Such is Allah, your real Cherisher and Sustainer: apart from truth, what (remains) but error? How then are ye turned away? [RK]:Such is GOD, your rightful Lord. What is there after the truth, except falsehood? How could you disregard all this?
63 | [10:88] Line:1452 |
| ||
[YA]: Moses prayed: "Our Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on Pharaoh and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of the present, and so, Our Lord, they mislead (men) from Thy Path. Deface our Lord, the features of their wealth, and send hardness to their hearts, so they will not believe until they see the grievous penalty." [RK]:Moses said, "Our Lord, you have given Pharaoh and his elders luxuries and wealth in this world. Our Lord, they only use them to repulse others from Your path. Our Lord, wipe out their wealth, and harden their hearts to prevent them from believing, until they see the painful retribution."
64 | [10:108] Line:1472 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "O ye men! Now Truth hath reached you from your Lord! those who receive guidance, do so for the good of their own souls; those who stray, do so to their own loss: and I am not (set) over you to arrange your affairs." [RK]:Proclaim: "O people, the truth has come to you herein from your Lord. Whoever is guided is guided for his own good. And whoever goes astray, goes astray to his own detriment. I am not a guardian over you."
65 | [10:108] Line:1472 |

[YA]: Say: "O ye men! Now Truth hath reached you from your Lord! those who receive guidance, do so for the good of their own souls; those who stray, do so to their own loss: and I am not (set) over you to arrange your affairs." [RK]:Proclaim: "O people, the truth has come to you herein from your Lord. Whoever is guided is guided for his own good. And whoever goes astray, goes astray to his own detriment. I am not a guardian over you."
66 | [11:21] Line:1494 |
| ||
[YA]: They are the ones who have lost their own souls: and the (fancies) they invented have left them in the lurch! [RK]:These are the ones who lose their souls, and the idols they had fabricated will disown them.
67 | [12:8] Line:1604 |
| ||
[YA]: They said: "Truly Joseph and his brother are loved more by our father than we: But we are a goodly body! really our father is obviously wandering (in his mind)! [RK]:They said, "Joseph and his brother are favored by our father, and we are in the majority. Indeed, our father is far astray.
68 | [12:30] Line:1626 |
| ||
[YA]: Ladies said in the City: "The wife of the (great) 'Aziz is seeking to seduce her slave from his (true) self: Truly hath he inspired her with violent love: we see she is evidently going astray." [RK]:Some women in the city gossiped: "The governor's wife is trying to seduce her servant. She is deeply in love with him. We see that she has gone astray."
69 | [12:95] Line:1691 |
| ||
[YA]: They said: "By Allah! truly thou art in thine old wandering mind." [RK]:They said, "By GOD, you are still in your old confusion."
70 | [13:14] Line:1721 |
| ||
[YA]: For Him (alone) is prayer in Truth: any others that they call upon besides Him hear them no more than if they were to stretch forth their hands for water to reach their mouths but it reaches them not: for the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile) wandering (in the mind). [RK]:Imploring Him is the only legitimate supplication, while the idols they implore beside Him cannot ever respond. Thus, they are like those who stretch their hands to the water, but nothing reaches their mouths. The supplications of the disbelievers are in vain.
71 | [13:27] Line:1734 |
| ||
[YA]: The Unbelievers say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "Truly Allah leaveth, to stray, whom He will; But He guideth to Himself those who turn to Him in penitence,- [RK]:Those who disbelieve would say, "If only a miracle could come down to him from his Lord (we would believe)." Say, "GOD sends astray whomever He wills, and guides to Him only those who obey."
72 | [13:33] Line:1740 |
| ||
[YA]: Is then He who standeth over every soul (and knoweth) all that it doth, (like any others)? And yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: "But name them! is it that ye will inform Him of something he knoweth not on earth, or is it (just) a show of words?" Nay! to those who believe not, their pretence seems pleasing, but they are kept back (thereby) from the path. And those whom Allah leaves to stray, no one can guide. [RK]:Is there any equal to the One who controls every single soul? Yet, they set up idols to rival GOD. Say, "Name them. Are you informing Him of something on earth that He does not know? Or, are you fabricating empty statements?" Indeed, the schemes of those who disbelieve have been adorned in their eyes. They are thus diverted from the right path. Whomever GOD sends astray can never find a guiding teacher.
73 | [14:3] Line:1753 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance. [RK]:They are the ones who give priority to this life over the Hereafter, repel from the way of GOD, and seek to make it crooked; they have gone far astray.
74 | [14:4] Line:1754 |
| ||
[YA]: We sent not a messenger except (to teach) in the language of his (own) people, in order to make (things) clear to them. Now Allah leaves straying those whom He pleases and guides whom He pleases: and He is Exalted in power, full of Wisdom. [RK]:We did not send any messenger except (to preach) in the tongue of his people, in order to clarify things for them. GOD then sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills. He is the Almighty, the Most Wise.
75 | [14:18] Line:1768 |
| ||
[YA]: The parable of those who reject their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a tempestuous day: No power have they over aught that they have earned: that is the straying far, far (from the goal). [RK]:The allegory of those who disbelieve in their Lord: their works are like ashes in a violent wind, on a stormy day. They gain nothing from whatever they earn; such is the farthest straying.
76 | [14:27] Line:1777 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah will establish in strength those who believe, with the word that stands firm, in this world and in the Hereafter; but Allah will leave, to stray, those who do wrong: Allah doeth what He willeth. [RK]:GOD strengthens those who believe with the proven word, in this life and in the Hereafter. And GOD sends the transgressors astray. Everything is in accordance with GOD's will.
77 | [14:30] Line:1780 |
| ||
[YA]: And they set up (idols) as equal to Allah, to mislead (men) from the Path! Say: "Enjoy (your brief power)! But verily ye are making straightway for Hell!" [RK]:They set up rivals to rank with GOD and to divert others from His path. Say, "Enjoy for awhile; your final destiny is Hell."
78 | [14:36] Line:1786 |
| ||
[YA]: "O my Lord! they have indeed led astray many among mankind; He then who follows my (ways) is of me, and he that disobeys me,- but Thou art indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. [RK]:"My Lord, they have misled so many people. As for those who follow me, they belong with me. As for those who disobey me, You are Forgiver, Most Merciful.
79 | [15:56] Line:1858 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as go astray?" [RK]:He said, "None despairs of his Lord's mercy, except the strayers."
80 | [16:25] Line:1926 |
| ||
[YA]: Let them bear, on the Day of Judgment, their own burdens in full, and also (something) of the burdens of those without knowledge, whom they misled. Alas, how grievous the burdens they will bear! [RK]:They will be held responsible for their sins on the Day of Resurrection, all of them, in addition to sins of all those whom they misled by their ignorance. What a miserable load!
81 | [16:36] Line:1937 |
| ||
[YA]: For We assuredly sent amongst every People a messenger, (with the Command), "Serve Allah, and eschew Evil": of the People were some whom Allah guided, and some on whom error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who denied (the Truth). [RK]:We have sent a messenger to every community, saying, "You shall worship GOD, and avoid idolatry." Subsequently, some were guided by GOD, while others were committed to straying. Roam the earth and note the consequences for the rejectors.
82 | [16:37] Line:1938 |
| ||
[YA]: If thou art anxious for their guidance, yet Allah guideth not such as He leaves to stray, and there is none to help them. [RK]:No matter how hard you try to guide them, GOD does not guide the ones He had committed to straying. Thus, no one can help them.
83 | [16:87] Line:1988 |
| ||
[YA]: That Day shall they (openly) show (their) submission to Allah; and all their inventions shall leave them in the lurch. [RK]:They will totally submit to GOD on that day, and the idols they had invented will disown them.
84 | [16:93] Line:1994 |
| ||
[YA]: If Allah so willed, He could make you all one people: But He leaves straying whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases: but ye shall certainly be called to account for all your actions. [RK]:Had GOD willed, He could have made you one congregation. But He sends astray whoever chooses to go astray, and He guides whoever wishes to be guided. You will surely be asked about everything you have done.
85 | [16:125] Line:2026 |
| ||
[YA]: Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance. [RK]:You shall invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are the guided ones.
86 | [17:15] Line:2044 |
| ||
[YA]: Who receiveth guidance, receiveth it for his own benefit: who goeth astray doth so to his own loss: No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another: nor would We visit with Our Wrath until We had sent an messenger (to give warning). [RK]:Whoever is guided, is guided for his own good, and whoever goes astray does so to his own detriment. No sinner will bear the sins of anyone else. We never punish without first sending a messenger.
87 | [17:15] Line:2044 |
| ||
88 | [17:67] Line:2096 |
| ||
[YA]: When distress seizes you at sea, those that ye call upon - besides Himself - leave you in the lurch! but when He brings you back safe to land, ye turn away (from Him). Most ungrateful is man! [RK]:If you are afflicted in the middle of the sea, you forget your idols and sincerely implore Him alone. But as soon as He saves you to the shore, you revert. Indeed, the human being is unappreciative.
89 | [17:72] Line:2101 |
| ||
[YA]: But those who were blind in this world, will be blind in the hereafter, and most astray from the Path. [RK]:As for those who are blind in this life, they will be blind in the Hereafter; even a lot worse.
90 | [17:97] Line:2126 |
| ||
[YA]: It is he whom Allah guides, that is on true Guidance; but he whom He leaves astray - for such wilt thou find no protector besides Him. On the Day of Judgment We shall gather, them together, prone on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf: their abode will be Hell: every time it shows abatement, We shall increase from them the fierceness of the Fire. [RK]:Whomever GOD guides is the truly guided one. And whomever He sends astray, you will never find for them any lords and masters beside Him. We will summon them on the Day of Resurrection forcibly; blind, dumb, and deaf. Their destination is Hell; whenever it cools down, we will increase their fire.
91 | [18:17] Line:2157 |
| ||
[YA]: Thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the Cave. Such are among the Signs of Allah: He whom Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the Right Way. [RK]:You could see the sun when it rose coming from the right side of their cave, and when it set, it shone on them from the left, as they slept in the hollow thereof. This is one of GOD's portents. Whomever GOD guides is the truly guided one, and whomever He sends astray, you will not find for him a guiding teacher.
92 | [18:51] Line:2191 |
| ||
[YA]: I called them not to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor (even) their own creation: nor is it for helpers such as Me to take as lead (men) astray! [RK]:I never permitted them to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor the creation of themselves. Nor do I permit the wicked to work in My kingdom.
93 | [18:104] Line:2244 |
| ||
[YA]: "Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life, while they thought that they were acquiring good by their works?" [RK]:"They are the ones whose works in this life are totally astray, but they think that they are doing good."
94 | [19:38] Line:2288 |
| ||
[YA]: How plainly will they see and hear, the Day that they will appear before Us! but the unjust today are in error manifest! [RK]:Wait till you hear them and see them when they come to face us. The transgressors on that day will be totally lost.
95 | [19:75] Line:2325 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "If any men go astray, (Allah) Most Gracious extends (the rope) to them, until, when they see the warning of Allah (being fulfilled) - either in punishment or in (the approach of) the Hour,- they will at length realise who is worst in position, and (who) weakest in forces! [RK]:Say, "Those who choose to go astray, the Most Gracious will lead them on, until they see what is promised for them - either the retribution or the Hour. That is when they find out who really is worse off, and weaker in power."
96 | [20:52] Line:2400 |
| ||
[YA]: He replied: "The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets,- [RK]:He said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord never errs, nor does He forget."
97 | [20:79] Line:2427 |
| ||
[YA]: Pharaoh led his people astray instead of leading them aright. [RK]:Thus, Pharaoh misled his people; he did not guide them.
98 | [20:85] Line:2433 |
| ||
[YA]: (Allah) said: "We have tested thy people in thy absence: the Samiri has led them astray." [RK]:He said, "We have put your people to the test after you left, but the Samarian misled them."
99 | [20:92] Line:2440 |
| ||
[YA]: (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong, [RK]:(Moses) said, "O Aaron, what is it that prevented you, when you saw them go astray,
100 | [20:123] Line:2471 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "Get ye down, both of you,- all together, from the Garden, with enmity one to another: but if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will not lose his way, nor fall into misery. [RK]:He said, "Go down therefrom, all of you. You are enemies of one another. When guidance comes to you from Me, anyone who follows My guidance will not go astray, nor suffer any misery.
