ولما جاء امرنا نجينا هودا والذين امنوا معه برحمة منا ونجيناهم من عذاب غليظ

[YA]: So when Our decree issued, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by (special) Grace from Ourselves: We saved them from a severe penalty.

[RK]:When our judgment came, we saved Hood and those who believed with him, by mercy from us. We saved them from a terrible retribution.

Falamma jaa amrunanajjayna salihan waallatheena amanoomaAAahu birahmatin minna wamin khizyi yawmi-ithininna rabbaka huwa alqawiyyu alAAazeezu

فلما جاء امرنا نجينا صالحا والذين امنوا معه برحمة منا ومن خزي يومئذ ان ربك هو القوي العزيز

[YA]: When Our Decree issued, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by (special) Grace from Ourselves - and from the Ignominy of that day. For thy Lord - He is the Strong One, and able to enforce His Will.

[RK]:When our judgment came, we saved Saaleh and those who believed with him by mercy from us, from the humiliation of that day. Your Lord is the Most Powerful, the Almighty.

Baqiyyatu Allahi khayrun lakum inkuntum mu/mineena wama ana AAalaykum bihafeethin

بقية الله خير لكم ان كنتم مؤمنين وما انا عليكم بحفيظ

[YA]: "That which is left you by Allah is best for you, if ye (but) believed! but I am not set over you to keep watch!"

[RK]:"Whatever GOD provides for you, no matter how small, is far better for you, if you are really believers. I am not a guardian over you."

ولما جاء امرنا نجينا شعيبا والذين امنوا معه برحمة منا واخذت الذين ظلموا الصيحة فاصبحوا في ديارهم جاثمين

[YA]: When Our decree issued, We saved Shu'aib and those who believed with him, by (special) mercy from Ourselves: But the (mighty) blast did seize the wrong-doers, and they lay prostrate in their homes by the morning,-

[RK]:When our judgment came, we saved Shu`aib and those who believed with him, by mercy from us. As for the evil ones, they were struck by a disaster that left them dead in their homes.

Wakullan naqussu AAalayka min anba-ialrrusuli ma nuthabbitu bihi fu-adaka wajaakafee hathihi alhaqqu wamawAAithatun wathikralilmu/mineena

وكلا نقص عليك من انباء الرسل مانثبت به فؤادك وجاءك في هذه الحق وموعظة وذكري للمؤمنين

[YA]: All that we relate to thee of the stories of the messengers,- with it We make firm thy heart: in them there cometh to thee the Truth, as well as an exhortation and a message of remembrance to those who believe.

[RK]:We narrate to you enough history of the messengers to strengthen your heart. The truth has come to you herein, as well as enlightenments and reminders for the believers.

Waqul lillatheena layu/minoona iAAmaloo AAala makanatikum innaAAamiloona

وقل للذين لايؤمنون اعملوا علي مكانتكم انا عاملون

[YA]: Say to those who do not believe: "Do what ever ye can: We shall do our part;

[RK]:Say to those who disbelieve, "Do whatever you can, and so will we.

Qaloo ya abanainna thahabna nastabiqu wataraknayoosufa AAinda mataAAina faakalahu alththi/buwama anta bimu/minin lana walaw kunna sadiqeena

قالوا ياابانا انا ذهبنا نستبق وتركنا يوسف عند متاعنا فاكله الذئب وماانت بمؤمن لنا ولو كنا صادقين

[YA]: They said: "O our father! We went racing with one another, and left Joseph with our things; and the wolf devoured him.... But thou wilt never believe us even though we tell the truth."

[RK]:They said, "Our father, we went racing with each other, leaving Joseph with our equipment, and the wolf devoured him. You will never believe us, even if we were telling the truth."

Qala la ya/teekuma taAAamunturzaqanihi illa nabba/tukuma bita/weelihiqabla an ya/tiyakuma thalikuma mimmaAAallamanee rabbee innee taraktu millata qawmin layu/minoona biAllahi wahum bial-akhiratihum kafiroona

قال لاياتيكما طعام ترزقانه الا نباتكما بتاويله قبل ان ياتيكما ذلكما مما علمني ربي اني تركت ملة قوم لايؤمنون بالله وهم بالاخرة هم كافرون

[YA]: He said: "Before any food comes (in due course) to feed either of you, I will surely reveal to you the truth and meaning of this ere it befall you: that is part of the (duty) which my Lord hath taught me. I have (I assure you) abandoned the ways of a people that believe not in Allah and that (even) deny the Hereafter.

[RK]:He said, "If any food is provided to you, I can inform you about it before you receive it. This is some of the knowledge bestowed upon me by my Lord. I have forsaken the religion of people who do not believe in GOD, and with regard to the Hereafter, they are really disbelievers.

Walaajru al-akhirati khayrun lillatheenaamanoo wakanoo yattaqoona

ولاجر الاخرة خير للذين امنوا وكانوا يتقون

[YA]: But verily the reward of the Hereafter is the best, for those who believe, and are constant in righteousness.

[RK]:Additionally, the reward in the Hereafter is even better for those who believe and lead a righteous life.

Qala hal amanukum AAalayhi illakama amintukum AAala akheehi min qablu faAllahukhayrun hafithan wahuwa arhamu alrrahimeena

قال هل امنكم عليه الا كما امنتكم علي اخيه من قبل فالله خير حافظا وهو ارحم الراحمين

[YA]: He said: "Shall I trust you with him with any result other than when I trusted you with his brother aforetime? But Allah is the best to take care (of him), and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!"

[RK]:He said, "Shall I trust you with him, as I trusted you with his brother before that? GOD is the best Protector, and, of all the merciful ones, He is the Most Merciful."

قال هل امنكم عليه الا كما امنتكم علي اخيه من قبل فالله خير حافظا وهو ارحم الراحمين

Falamma dakhaloo AAala yoosufaawa ilayhi abawayhi waqala odkhuloo misrain shaa Allahu amineena

فلما دخلوا علي يوسف اوي اليه ابويه وقال ادخلوا مصر ان شاء الله امنين

[YA]: Then when they entered the presence of Joseph, he provided a home for his parents with himself, and said: "Enter ye Egypt (all) in safety if it please Allah."

[RK]:When they entered Joseph's quarters, he embraced his parents, saying, "Welcome to Egypt. GOD willing, you will be safe here."

Wama aktharu alnnasiwalaw harasta bimu/mineena

ومااكثر الناس ولو حرصت بمؤمنين

[YA]: Yet no faith will the greater part of mankind have, however ardently thou dost desire it.

[RK]:Most people, no matter what you do, will not believe.

Afaaminoo an ta/tiyahum ghashiyatunmin AAathabi Allahi aw ta/tiyahumu alssaAAatubaghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

افامنوا ان تاتيهم غاشية من عذاب الله او تاتيهم الساعة بغتة وهم لايشعرون

[YA]: Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the wrath of Allah,- or of the coming against them of the (final) Hour all of a sudden while they perceive not?

[RK]:Have they guaranteed that an overwhelming retribution from GOD will not strike them, or the Hour will not come to them suddenly, when they least expect it?

Laqad kana fee qasasihimAAibratun li-olee al-albabi ma kana hadeethanyuftara walakin tasdeeqa allatheebayna yadayhi watafseela kulli shay-in wahudan warahmatanliqawmin yu/minoona

لقد كان في قصصهم عبرة لاولي الالباب ماكان حديثا يفتري ولكن تصديق الذي بين يديه وتفصيل كل شئ وهدي ورحمة لقوم يؤمنون

[YA]: There is, in their stories, instruction for men endued with understanding. It is not a tale invented, but a confirmation of what went before it,- a detailed exposition of all things, and a guide and a mercy to any such as believe.

[RK]:In their history, there is a lesson for those who possess intelligence. This is not fabricated Hadith; this (Quran) confirms all previous scriptures, provides the details of everything, and is a beacon and mercy for those who believe.

Alif-lam-meem-ra tilka ayatualkitabi waallathee onzila ilayka minrabbika alhaqqu walakinna akthara alnnasila yu/minoona

المر تلك ايات الكتاب والذي انزل اليك من ربك الحق ولكن اكثر الناس لايؤمنون

[YA]: A.L.M.R. These are the signs (or verses) of the Book: that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth; but most men believe not.

[RK]:A. L. M. R. These (letters) are proofs of this scripture. What is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most people do not believe.

Allatheena amanoo watatma-innuquloobuhum bithikri Allahi ala bithikriAllahi tatma-innu alquloobu

الذين امنوا وتطمئن قلوبهم بذكر الله الا بذكر الله تطمئن القلوب

[YA]: "Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.

[RK]:They are the ones whose hearts rejoice in remembering GOD. Absolutely, by remembering GOD, the hearts rejoice.

Allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihatitooba lahum wahusnu maabin

الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات طوبي لهم وحسن ماب

[YA]: "For those who believe and work righteousness, is (every) blessedness, and a beautiful place of (final) return."

[RK]:Those who believe and lead a righteous life have deserved happiness and a joyous destiny.

Walaw anna qur-anan suyyirat bihialjibalu aw quttiAAat bihi al-ardu awkullima bihi almawta bal lillahi al-amru jameeAAanafalam yay-asi allatheena amanoo an law yashaoAllahu lahada alnnasa jameeAAan walayazalu allatheena kafaroo tuseebuhum bimasanaAAoo qariAAatun aw tahullu qareeban mindarihim hatta ya/tiya waAAdu Allahiinna Allaha la yukhlifu almeeAAada

ولو ان قرانا سيرت به الجبال او قطعت به الارض او كلم به الموتي بل لله الامر جميعا افلم يياس الذين امنوا ان لو يشاء الله لهدي الناس جميعا ولايزال الذين كفروا تصيبهم بما صنعوا قارعة او تحل قريبا من دارهم حتي ياتي وعد الله ان الله لايخلف الميعاد

[YA]: If there were a Qur'an with which mountains were moved, or the earth were cloven asunder, or the dead were made to speak, (this would be the one!) But, truly, the command is with Allah in all things! Do not the Believers know, that, had Allah (so) willed, He could have guided all mankind (to the right)? But the Unbelievers,- never will disaster cease to seize them for their (ill) deeds, or to settle close to their homes, until the promise of Allah come to pass, for, verily, Allah will not fail in His promise.

[RK]:Even if a Quran caused mountains to move, or the earth to tear asunder, or the dead to speak (they will not believe). GOD controls all things. Is it not time for the believers to give up and realize that if GOD willed, He could have guided all the people? The disbelievers will continue to suffer disasters, as a consequence of their own works, or have disasters strike close to them, until GOD's promise is fulfilled. GOD will never change the predetermined destiny.

Qalat lahum rusuluhum in nahnuilla basharun mithlukum walakinna Allahayamunnu AAala man yashao min AAibadihi wamakana lana an na/tiyakum bisultanin illabi-ithni Allahi waAAala Allahifalyatawakkali almu/minoona

قالت لهم رسلهم ان نحن الا بشر مثلكم ولكن الله يمن علي من يشاء من عباده وماكان لنا ان ناتيكم بسلطان الا باذن الله وعلي الله فليتوكل المؤمنون

[YA]: Their messengers said to them: "True, we are human like yourselves, but Allah doth grant His grace to such of his servants as He pleases. It is not for us to bring you an authority except as Allah permits. And on Allah let all men of faith put their trust.

[RK]:Their messengers said to them, "We are no more than humans like you, but GOD blesses whomever He chooses from among His servants. We could not possibly show you any kind of authorization, except in accordance with GOD's will. In GOD the believers shall trust.

Waodkhila allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo alssalihati jannatintajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideenafeeha bi-ithni rabbihim tahiyyatuhum feehasalamun

وادخل الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها باذن ربهم تحيتهم فيها سلام

[YA]: But those who believe and work righteousness will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow,- to dwell therein for aye with the leave of their Lord. Their greeting therein will be: "Peace!"

[RK]:As for those who believe and lead a righteous life, they will be admitted into gardens with flowing streams. They abide therein forever, in accordance with the will of their Lord. Their greeting therein is: "Peace."

Yuthabbitu Allahu allatheena amanoobialqawli alththabiti fee alhayatialddunya wafee al-akhirati wayudilluAllahu alththalimeenawayafAAalu Allahu ma yasha/o

يثبت الله الذين امنوا بالقول الثابت في الحياة الدنيا وفي الاخرة ويضل الله الظالمين ويفعل الله مايشاء

[YA]: Allah will establish in strength those who believe, with the word that stands firm, in this world and in the Hereafter; but Allah will leave, to stray, those who do wrong: Allah doeth what He willeth.

[RK]:GOD strengthens those who believe with the proven word, in this life and in the Hereafter. And GOD sends the transgressors astray. Everything is in accordance with GOD's will.

Qul liAAibadiya allatheena amanooyuqeemoo alssalata wayunfiqoo mimmarazaqnahum sirran waAAalaniyatan min qabli anya/tiya yawmun la bayAAun feehi wala khilalun

قل لعبادي الذين امنوا يقيموا الصلاة وينفقوا مما رزقناهم سرا وعلانية من قبل ان ياتي يوم لابيع فيه ولاخلال

[YA]: Speak to my servants who have believed, that they may establish regular prayers, and spend (in charity) out of the sustenance we have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day in which there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending.

[RK]:Exhort My servants who believed to observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), and to give (to charity) from our provisions to them, secretly and publicly, before a day comes where there is neither trade, nor nepotism.

Wa-ith qala ibraheemurabbi ijAAal hatha albalada aminan waojnubneewabaniyya an naAAbuda al-asnama

واذ قال ابراهيم رب اجعل هذا البلد امنا واجنبني وبني ان نعبد الاصنام

[YA]: Remember Abraham said: "O my Lord! make this city one of peace and security: and preserve me and my sons from worshipping idols.

[RK]:Recall that Abraham said, "My Lord, make this a peaceful land, and protect me and my children from worshipping idols.

Rabbana ighfir lee waliwalidayyawalilmu/mineena yawma yaqoomu alhisabu

ربنا اغفر لي ولوالدي وللمؤمنين يوم يقوم الحساب

[YA]: "O our Lord! cover (us) with Thy Forgiveness - me, my parents, and (all) Believers, on the Day that the Reckoning will be established!

[RK]:"My Lord, forgive me and my parents, and the believers, on the day when the reckoning takes place."

La yu/minoona bihi waqad khalatsunnatu al-awwaleena

لايؤمنون به وقد خلت سنة الاولين

[YA]: That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.

[RK]:Consequently, they cannot believe in him. This has been the system since the past generations.

ادخلوها بسلام امنين

[YA]: (Their greeting will be): "Enter ye here in peace and security."

[RK]:Enter therein, peaceful and secure.

اذ دخلوا عليه فقالوا سلاما قال انامنكم وجلون

[YA]: When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"

[RK]:When they entered his quarters, they said, "Peace." He said, "We are apprehensive about you."

ان في ذلك لاية للمؤمنين

[YA]: Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed.

[RK]:This is a sign for the believers.

Wakanoo yanhitoona mina aljibalibuyootan amineena

وكانوا ينحتون من الجبال بيوتا امنين

[YA]: Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure.

[RK]:They used to carve secure homes out of the mountains.

La tamuddanna AAaynayka ila mamattaAAna bihi azwajan minhum wala tahzanAAalayhim waikhfid janahaka lilmu/mineena

لاتمدن عينيك الي مامتعنا به ازواجا منهم ولاتحزن عليهم واخفض جناحك للمؤمنين

[YA]: Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.

[RK]:Do not be jealous of what we bestowed upon the other (messengers), and do not be saddened (by the disbelievers), and lower your wing for the believers.

Ilahukum ilahun wahidunfaallatheena la yu/minoona bial-akhiratiquloobuhum munkiratun wahum mustakbiroona

الهكم اله واحد فالذين لايؤمنون بالاخرة قلوبهم منكرة وهم مستكبرون

[YA]: Your Allah is one Allah: as to those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant.

[RK]:Your god is one god. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are denying, and they are arrogant.

Afaamina allatheena makaroo alssayyi-atian yakhsifa Allahu bihimu al-arda aw ya/tiyahumualAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroona

افامن الذين مكروا السيئات ان يخسف الله بهم الارض او ياتيهم العذاب من حيث لايشعرون

[YA]: Do then those who devise evil (plots) feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them up, or that the Wrath will not seize them from directions they little perceive?-

[RK]:Did those who scheme evil schemes guarantee that GOD will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that the retribution will not come to them when they least expect it?

Lillatheena la yu/minoona bial-akhiratimathalu alssaw-i walillahi almathalu al-aAAlawahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu

للذين لايؤمنون بالاخرة مثل السوء ولله المثل الاعلي وهو العزيز الحكيم

[YA]: To those who believe not in the Hereafter, applies the similitude of evil: to Allah applies the highest similitude: for He is the Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom.

[RK]:Those who do not believe in the Hereafter set the worst examples, while to GOD belongs the most sublime examples. He is the Almighty, the Most Wise.

Wama anzalna AAalayka alkitabailla litubayyina lahumu allathee ikhtalafoo feehiwahudan warahmatan liqawmin yu/minoona

وماانزلنا عليك الكتاب الا لتبين لهم الذي اختلفوا فيه وهدي ورحمة لقوم يؤمنون

[YA]: And We sent down the Book to thee for the express purpose, that thou shouldst make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe.

[RK]:We have revealed this scripture to you, to point out for them what they dispute, and to provide guidance and mercy for people who believe.

[16:72]

WaAllahu jaAAala lakum minanfusikum azwajan wajaAAala lakum min azwajikumbaneena wahafadatan warazaqakum mina alttayyibatiafabialbatili yu/minoona wabiniAAmati Allahihum yakfuroona

والله جعل لكم من انفسكم ازواجا وجعل لكم من ازواجكم بنين وحفدة ورزقكم من الطيبات افبالباطل يؤمنون وبنعمة الله هم يكفرون

[YA]: And Allah has made for you mates (and companions) of your own nature, and made for you, out of them, sons and daughters and grandchildren, and provided for you sustenance of the best: will they then believe in vain things, and be ungrateful for Allah's favours?-

[RK]:And GOD made for you spouses from among yourselves, and produced for you from your spouses children and grandchildren, and provided you with good provisions. Should they believe in falsehood, and turn unappreciative of GOD's blessings?

Alam yaraw ila alttayrimusakhkharatin fee jawwi alssama-i mayumsikuhunna illa Allahu inna fee thalika laayatinliqawmin yu/minoona

الم يروا الي الطير مسخرات في جو السماء مايمسكهن الا الله ان في ذلك لايات لقوم يؤمنون

[YA]: Do they not look at the birds, held poised in the midst of (the air and) the sky? Nothing holds them up but (the power of) Allah. Verily in this are signs for those who believe.

[RK]:Do they not see the birds committed to fly in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up in the air except GOD. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who believe.

Man AAamila salihan min thakarinaw ontha wahuwa mu/minun falanuhyiyannahu hayatantayyibatan walanajziyannahum ajrahum bi-ahsani makanoo yaAAmaloona

من عمل صالحا من ذكر او انثي وهو مؤمن فلنحيينه حياة طيبة ولنجزينهم اجرهم باحسن ما كانوا يعملون

[YA]: Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.

[RK]:Anyone who works righteousness, male or female, while believing, we will surely grant them a happy life in this world, and we will surely pay them their full recompense (on the Day of Judgment) for their righteous works.

Innahu laysa lahu sultanun AAalaallatheena amanoo waAAala rabbihimyatawakkaloona

انه ليس له سلطان علي الذين امنوا وعلي ربهم يتوكلون

[YA]: No authority has he over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.

[RK]:He has no power over those who believe and trust in their Lord.

Qul nazzalahu roohu alqudusi minrabbika bialhaqqi liyuthabbita allatheena amanoowahudan wabushra lilmuslimeena

قل نزله روح القدس من ربك بالحق ليثبت الذين امنوا وهدي وبشري للمسلمين

[YA]: Say, the Holy Spirit has brought the revelation from thy Lord in Truth, in order to strengthen those who believe, and as a Guide and Glad Tidings to Muslims.

[RK]:Say, "The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord, truthfully, to assure those who believe, and to provide a beacon and good news for the submitters."

Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabi-ayati Allahi la yahdeehimu Allahuwalahum AAathabun aleemun

ان الذين لايؤمنون بايات الله لايهديهم الله ولهم عذاب اليم

[YA]: Those who believe not in the Signs of Allah,- Allah will not guide them, and theirs will be a grievous Penalty.

[RK]:Surely, those who do not believe in GOD's revelations, GOD does not guide them. They have incurred a painful retribution.

Innama yaftaree alkathibaallatheena la yu/minoona bi-ayati Allahiwaola-ika humu alkathiboona

انما يفتري الكذب الذين لايؤمنون بايات الله واولئك هم الكاذبون

[YA]: It is those who believe not in the Signs of Allah, that forge falsehood: it is they who lie!

Wadaraba Allahu mathalanqaryatan kanat aminatan mutma-innatanya/teeha rizquha raghadan min kulli makaninfakafarat bi-anAAumi Allahi faathaqaha Allahulibasa aljooAAi waalkhawfi bima kanooyasnaAAoona

وضرب الله مثلا قرية كانت امنة مطمئنة ياتيها رزقها رغدا من كل مكان فكفرت بانعم الله فاذاقها الله لباس الجوع والخوف بما كانوا يصنعون

[YA]: Allah sets forth a Parable: a city enjoying security and quiet, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place: Yet was it ungrateful for the favours of Allah: so Allah made it taste of hunger and terror (in extremes) (closing in on it) like a garment (from every side), because of the (evil) which (its people) wrought.

[RK]:GOD cites the example of a community that used to be secure and prosperous, with provisions coming to it from everywhere. But then, it turned unappreciative of GOD's blessings. Consequently, GOD caused them to taste the hardships of starvation and insecurity. Such is the requital for what they did.

Inna hatha alqur-ana yahdeelillatee hiya aqwamu wayubashshiru almu/mineena allatheenayaAAmaloona alssalihati anna lahum ajrankabeeran

ان هذا القران يهدي للتي هي اقوم ويبشر المؤمنين الذين يعملون الصالحات ان لهم اجرا كبيرا

[YA]: Verily this Qur'an doth guide to that which is most right (or stable), and giveth the Glad Tidings to the Believers who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a magnificent reward;

[RK]:This Quran guides to the best path, and brings good news to the believers who lead a righteous life, that they have deserved a great recompense.

Waanna allatheena layu/minoona bial-akhirati aAAtadna lahum AAathabanaleeman

وان الذين لايؤمنون بالاخرة اعتدنا لهم عذابا اليما

[YA]: And to those who believe not in the Hereafter, (it announceth) that We have prepared for them a Penalty Grievous (indeed).

[RK]:As for those who disbelieve in the Hereafter, we have prepared for them a painful retribution.

Waman arada al-akhirata wasaAAalaha saAAyaha wahuwa mu/minun faola-ika kanasaAAyuhum mashkooran

ومن اراد الاخرة وسعي لها سعيها وهو مؤمن فاولئك كان سعيهم مشكورا

[YA]: Those who do wish for the (things of) the Hereafter, and strive therefor with all due striving, and have Faith,- they are the ones whose striving is acceptable (to Allah).

[RK]:As for those who choose the Hereafter as their priority, and work righteousness, while believing, their efforts will be appreciated.

Wa-itha qara/ta alqur-anajaAAalna baynaka wabayna allatheena layu/minoona bial-akhirati hijabanmastooran

واذا قرات القران جعلنا بينك وبين الذين لايؤمنون بالاخرة حجابا مستورا

[YA]: When thou dost recite the Qur'an, We put, between thee and those who believe not in the Hereafter, a veil invisible:

[RK]:When you read the Quran, we place between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter an invisible barrier.

Afaamintum an yakhsifa bikum janibaalbarri aw yursila AAalaykum hasiban thumma latajidoo lakum wakeelan

افامنتم ان يخسف بكم جانب البر او يرسل عليكم حاصبا ثم لاتجدوا لكم وكيلا

[YA]: Do ye then feel secure that He will not cause you to be swallowed up beneath the earth when ye are on land, or that He will not send against you a violent tornado (with showers of stones) so that ye shall find no one to carry out your affairs for you?

[RK]:Have you guaranteed that He will not cause the land, on shore, to swallow you? Or, that He will not send upon you a tempest, then you find no protector?

Am amintum an yuAAeedakum feehi taratanokhra fayursila AAalaykum qasifan mina alrreehifayughriqakum bima kafartum thumma la tajidoo lakumAAalayna bihi tabeeAAan

ام امنتم ان يعيدكم فيه تارة اخري فيرسل عليكم قاصفا من الريح فيغرقكم بما كفرتم ثم لاتجدوا لكم علينا به تبيعا

[YA]: Or do ye feel secure that He will not send you back a second time to sea and send against you a heavy gale to drown you because of your ingratitude, so that ye find no helper. Therein against Us?

[RK]:Have you guaranteed that He will not return you to the sea another time, then send upon you a storm that drowns you because of your disbelief? Once this happens, we will not give you another chance.

Wanunazzilu mina alqur-ani mahuwa shifaon warahmatun lilmu/mineena walayazeedu alththalimeena illakhasaran

وننزل من القران ماهو شفاء ورحمة للمؤمنين ولايزيد الظالمين الا خسارا

[YA]: We send down (stage by stage) in the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss.

[RK]:We send down in the Quran healing and mercy for the believers. At the same time, it only increases the wickedness of the transgressors.
