[YA]: And everyone of them will come to Him singly on the Day of Judgment.

[YA]: Behold, he saw a fire: So he said to his family, "Tarry ye; I perceive a fire; perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire."

[RK]:When he saw a fire, he said to his family, "Stay here. I have seen a fire. Maybe I can bring you some of it, or find some guidance at the fire."

[YA]: "Verily the Hour is coming - My design is to keep it hidden - for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour.

[RK]:"The Hour (end of the world) is surely coming; I will keep it almost hidden, for each soul must be paid for its works.

[YA]: So Pharaoh withdrew: He concerted his plan, and then came (back).

[RK]:Pharaoh summoned his forces, then came.

[YA]: "Throw that which is in thy right hand: Quickly will it swallow up that which they have faked what they have faked is but a magician's trick: and the magician thrives not, (no matter) where he goes."

[RK]:"Throw what you hold in your right hand, and it will swallow what they fabricated. What they fabricated is no more than the scheming of a magician. The magician's work will not succeed."

Kathalika naqussu AAalayka minanba-i ma qad sabaqa waqad ataynakamin ladunna thikranكذلك نقص عليك من انباء ماقد سبق وقد اتيناك من لدنا ذكرا
[YA]: Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence.

[RK]:We thus narrate to you some news from the past generations. We have revealed to you a message from us.

Qala ihbita minhajameeAAan baAAdukum libaAAdin AAaduwwun fa-immaya/tiyannakum minnee hudan famani ittabaAAa hudaya falayadillu wala yashqaقال اهبطا منها جميعا بعضكم لبعض عدو فاما ياتينكم مني هدي فمن اتبع هداي فلايضل ولايشقي
[YA]: He said: "Get ye down, both of you,- all together, from the Garden, with enmity one to another: but if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will not lose his way, nor fall into misery.

[RK]:He said, "Go down therefrom, all of you. You are enemies of one another. When guidance comes to you from Me, anyone who follows My guidance will not go astray, nor suffer any misery.

Waqaloo lawla ya/teenabi-ayatin min rabbihi awa lam ta/tihim bayyinatu mafee alssuhufi al-oolaوقالوا لولا ياتينا باية من ربه او لم تاتهم بينة ما في الصحف الاولي
[YA]: They say: "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has not a Clear Sign come to them of all that was in the former Books of revelation?

[RK]:They said, "If he could only show us a miracle from his Lord!" Did they not receive sufficient miracles with the previous messages?

[YA]: They say: "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has not a Clear Sign come to them of all that was in the former Books of revelation?

[RK]:They said, "If he could only show us a miracle from his Lord!" Did they not receive sufficient miracles with the previous messages?

Ma ya/teehim min thikrin minrabbihim muhdathin illa istamaAAoohu wahumyalAAaboonaماياتيهم من ذكر من ربهم محدث الا استمعوه وهم يلعبون
[YA]: Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,-

[RK]:When a proof comes to them from their Lord, that is new, they listen to it heedlessly.

Bal ta/teehim baghtatan fatabhatuhum falayastateeAAoona raddaha wala hum yuntharoonaبل تاتيهم بغتة فتبهتهم فلا يستطيعون ردها ولاهم ينظرون
[YA]: Nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite.

[RK]:Indeed, it will come to them suddenly, and they will be utterly stunned. They can neither avoid it, nor can they receive any respite.

WanadaAAu almawazeena alqistaliyawmi alqiyamati fala tuthlamunafsun shay-an wa-in kana mithqala habbatinmin khardalin atayna biha wakafa binahasibeenaونضع الموازين القسط ليوم القيامة فلاتظلم نفس شيئا وان كان مثقال حبة من خردل اتينا بها وكفي بنا حاسبين
[YA]: We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take account.

[RK]:We will establish the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection. No soul will suffer the least injustice. Even the equivalent of a mustard seed will be accounted for. We are the most efficient reckoners.

Walaqad atayna moosawaharoona alfurqana wadiyaan wathikranlilmuttaqeenaولقد اتينا موسي وهارون الفرقان وضياء وذكرا للمتقين
[YA]: In the past We granted to Moses and Aaron the criterion (for judgment), and a Light and a Message for those who would do right,-

[RK]:We gave Moses and Aaron the Statute Book, a beacon, and a reminder for the righteous.

Walaqad atayna ibraheemarushdahu min qablu wakunna bihi AAalimeenaولقد اتينا ابراهيم رشده من قبل وكنا به عالمين
[YA]: We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him.

[RK]:Before that, we granted Abraham his guidance and understanding, for we were fully aware of him.

Walootan ataynahu hukmanwaAAilman wanajjaynahu mina alqaryati allatee kanattaAAmalu alkhaba-itha innahum kanoo qawma saw-in fasiqeenaولوطا اتيناه حكما وعلما ونجيناه من القرية التي كانت تعمل الخبائث انهم كانوا قوم سوء فاسقين
[YA]: And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people.

[RK]:As for Lot, we granted him wisdom and knowledge, and we saved him from the community that practiced abominations; they were wicked and evil people.

Fafahhamnaha sulaymanawakullan atayna hukman waAAilman wasakhkharnamaAAa dawooda aljibala yusabbihna waalttayrawakunna faAAileenaففهمناها سليمان وكلا اتينا حكما وعلما وسخرنا مع داود الجبال يسبحن والطير وكنا فاعلين
[YA]: To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David: it was We Who did (all these things).

[RK]:We granted Solomon the correct understanding, though we endowed both of them with wisdom and knowledge. We committed the mountains to serve David in glorifying (God), as well as the birds. This is what we did.

Faistajabna lahu fakashafnama bihi min durrin waataynahu ahlahuwamithlahum maAAahum rahmatan min AAindina wathikralilAAabideenaفاستجبنا له فكشفنا مابه من ضر واتيناه اهله ومثلهم معهم رحمة من عندنا وذكري للعابدين
[YA]: So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who serve Us.

[RK]:We responded to him, relieved his adversity, and restored his family for him, even twice as much. That was a mercy from us, and a reminder for the worshipers.

Waanna alssaAAata atiyatunla rayba feeha waanna Allaha yabAAathu manfee alqubooriوان الساعة اتية لاريب فيها وان الله يبعث من في القبور
[YA]: And verily the Hour will come: there can be no doubt about it, or about (the fact) that Allah will raise up all who are in the graves.

[RK]:And that the Hour is coming, no doubt about it, and that GOD resurrects those who are in the graves.

Wala yazalu allatheenakafaroo fee miryatin minhu hatta ta/tiyahumu alssaAAatubaghtatan aw ya/tiyahum AAathabu yawmin AAaqeeminولايزال الذين كفروا في مرية منه حتي تاتيهم الساعة بغتة او ياتيهم عذاب يوم عقيم
[YA]: Those who reject Faith will not cease to be in doubt concerning (Revelation) until the Hour (of Judgment) comes suddenly upon them, or there comes to them the Penalty of a Day of Disaster.

[RK]:As for those who disbelieve, they will continue to harbor doubts until the Hour comes to them suddenly, or until the retribution of a terrible day comes to them.

[RK]:As for those who disbelieve, they will continue to harbor doubts until the Hour comes to them suddenly, or until the retribution of a terrible day comes to them.

[YA]: And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance.

[RK]:We gave Moses the scripture, that they may be guided.

Walawi ittabaAAa alhaqqu ahwaahumlafasadati alssamawatu waal-arduwaman feehinna bal ataynahum bithikrihim fahum AAanthikrihim muAAridoonaولو اتبع الحق اهواءهم لفسدت السماوات والارض ومن فيهن بل اتيناهم بذكرهم فهم عن ذكرهم معرضون
[YA]: If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition.

[RK]:Indeed, if the truth conformed to their wishes, there would be chaos in the heavens and the earth; everything in them would be corrupted. We have given them their proof, but they are disregarding their proof.

[YA]: We have sent them the Truth: but they indeed practise falsehood!

[RK]:We have given them the truth, while they are liars.

[YA]: (Before this,) We sent Moses The Book, and appointed his brother Aaron with him as minister;

[RK]:We have given Moses the scripture, and appointed his brother Aaron to be his assistant.

Wama ya/teehim min thikrin minaalrrahmani muhdathin illa kanooAAanhu muAArideenaوماياتيهم من ذكر من الرحمن محدث الا كانوا عنه معرضين
[YA]: But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.

[RK]:Whenever a reminder from the Most Gracious comes to them, that is new, they turn away in aversion.

Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbaoma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oonaفقد كذبوا فسياتيهم انباء ماكانوا به يستهزؤون
[YA]: They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!

[RK]:Since they disbelieved, they have incurred the consequences of their heedlessness.

[YA]: (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"

[RK]:He said, "Then produce it, if you are truthful."

[YA]: "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart;

[RK]:"You are no more than a human like us. Produce a miracle, if you are truthful."

[YA]: But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not;

[YA]: Behold! Moses said to his family: "I perceive a fire; soon will I bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand to light our fuel, that ye may warn yourselves.

[RK]:Recall that Moses said to his family, "I see a fire; let me bring you news therefrom, or a torch to warm you."

[YA]: Behold! Moses said to his family: "I perceive a fire; soon will I bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand to light our fuel, that ye may warn yourselves.

[RK]:Recall that Moses said to his family, "I see a fire; let me bring you news therefrom, or a torch to warm you."

[YA]: We gave (in the past) knowledge to David and Solomon: And they both said: "Praise be to Allah, Who has favoured us above many of his servants who believe!"

[RK]:We endowed David and Solomon with knowledge, and they said, "Praise GOD for blessing us more than many of His believing servants."

[YA]: Said an 'Ifrit, of the Jinns: "I will bring it to thee before thou rise from thy council: indeed I have full strength for the purpose, and may be trusted."

[RK]:One afrit from the jinns said, "I can bring it to you before you stand up. I am powerful enough to do this."

Qala allathee AAindahu AAilmunmina alkitabi ana ateeka bihi qabla anyartadda ilayka tarfuka falamma raahumustaqirran AAindahu qala hatha min fadlirabbee liyabluwanee aashkuru am akfuru waman shakara fa-innamayashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fa-inna rabbee ghaniyyun kareemunقال الذي عنده علم من الكتاب انا اتيك به قبل ان يرتد اليك طرفك فلما راه مستقرا عنده قال هذا من فضل ربي ليبلوني ءاشكر ام اكفر ومن شكر فانما يشكر لنفسه ومن كفر فان ربي غني كريم
[YA]: Said one who had knowledge of the Book: "I will bring it to thee within the twinkling of an eye!" Then when (Solomon) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord!- to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! and if any is grateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his own soul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is Free of all Needs, Supreme in Honour !"

[RK]:The one who possessed knowledge from the book said, "I can bring it to you in the blink of your eye." When he saw it settled in front of him, he said, "This is a blessing from my Lord, whereby He tests me, to show whether I am appreciative or unappreciative. Whoever is appreciative is appreciative for his own good, and if one turns unappreciative, then my Lord is in no need for him, Most Honorable."

Walamma balagha ashuddahu waistawaataynahu hukman waAAilman wakathalikanajzee almuhsineenaولما بلغ اشده واستوي اتيناه حكما وعلما وكذلك نجزي المحسنين
[YA]: When he reached full age, and was firmly established (in life), We bestowed on him wisdom and knowledge: for thus do We reward those who do good.

[RK]:When he reached maturity and strength, we endowed him with wisdom and knowledge. We thus reward the righteous.

Falamma qada moosaal-ajala wasara bi-ahlihi anasa min janibi alttoorinaran qala li-ahlihi omkuthoo innee anastu naranlaAAallee ateekum minha bikhabarin aw jathwatinmina alnnari laAAallakum tastaloonaفلما قضي موسي الاجل وسار باهله انس من جانب الطور نارا قال لاهله امكثوا اني انست نارا لعلي اتيكم منها بخبر او جذوة من النار لعلكم تصطلون
[YA]: Now when Moses had fulfilled the term, and was travelling with his family, he perceived a fire in the direction of Mount Tur. He said to his family: "Tarry ye; I perceive a fire; I hope to bring you from there some information, or a burning firebrand, that ye may warm yourselves."

[RK]:When he had fulfilled his obligation, he traveled with his family (towards Egypt). He saw from the slope of Mount Sinai a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here. I have seen a fire. Maybe I can bring to you news, or a portion of the fire to warm you."

Walaqad atayna moosaalkitaba min baAAdi ma ahlakna alquroonaal-oola basa-ira lilnnasi wahudanwarahmatan laAAallahum yatathakkaroonaولقد اتينا موسي الكتاب من بعد مااهلكنا القرون الاولي بصائر للناس وهدي ورحمة لعلهم يتذكرون
[YA]: We did reveal to Moses the Book after We had destroyed the earlier generations, (to give) Insight to men, and guidance and Mercy, that they might receive admonition.

[RK]:We gave Moses the scripture - after having annihilated the previous generations, and after setting the examples through them - to provide enlightenment for the people, and guidance, and mercy, that they may take heed.

Allatheena ataynahumualkitaba min qablihi hum bihi yu/minoonaالذين اتيناهم الكتاب من قبله هم به يؤمنون
[YA]: Those to whom We sent the Book before this,- they do believe in this (revelation):

[RK]:Those whom we blessed with the previous scriptures will believe in this.

Qul araaytum in jaAAala AllahuAAalaykumu allayla sarmadan ila yawmi alqiyamatiman ilahun ghayru Allahi ya/teekum bidiya-inafala tasmaAAoonaقل ارايتم ان جعل الله عليكم الليل سرمدا الي يوم القيامة من اله غير الله ياتيكم بضياء افلا تسمعون
[YA]: Say: See ye? If Allah were to make the night perpetual over you to the Day of Judgment, what god is there other than Allah, who can give you enlightenment? Will ye not then hearken?

[RK]:Say, "What if GOD made the night perpetual, until the Day of Resurrection? Which god, other than GOD, can provide you with light? Do you not hear?"

Qul araaytum in jaAAala AllahuAAalaykumu alnnahara sarmadan ila yawmialqiyamati man ilahun ghayru Allahiya/teekum bilaylin taskunoona feehi afala tubsiroonaقل ارايتم ان جعل الله عليكم النهار سرمدا الي يوم القيامة من اله غير الله ياتيكم بليل تسكنون فيه افلا تبصرون
[YA]: Say: See ye? If Allah were to make the day perpetual over you to the Day of Judgment, what god is there other than Allah, who can give you a night in which ye can rest? Will ye not then see?

[RK]:Say, "What if GOD made the daylight perpetual, until the Day of Resurrection? Which god, other than GOD, can provide you with a night for your rest? Do you not see?"

Inna qaroona kana min qawmimoosa fabagha AAalayhim waataynahumina alkunoozi ma inna mafatihahu latanoo-obialAAusbati olee alquwwati ith qalalahu qawmuhu la tafrah inna Allaha layuhibbu alfariheenaان قارون كان من قوم موسي فبغي عليهم واتيناه من الكنوز ماان مفاتحه لتنوء بالعصبة اولي القوة اذ قال له قومه لاتفرح ان الله لايحب الفرحين
[YA]: Qarun was doubtless, of the people of Moses; but he acted insolently towards them: such were the treasures We had bestowed on him that their very keys would have been a burden to a body of strong men, behold, his people said to him: "Exult not, for Allah loveth not those who exult (in riches).

[RK]:Qaaroon (the slave driver) was one of Moses' people who betrayed them and oppressed them. We gave him so many treasures that the keys thereof were almost too heavy for the strongest hand. His people said to him, "Do not be so arrogant; GOD does not love those who are arrogant.

Wawahabna lahu ishaqawayaAAqooba wajaAAalna fee thurriyyatihi alnnubuwwatawaalkitaba waataynahu ajrahu fee alddunyawa-innahu fee al-akhirati lamina alssaliheenaووهبنا له اسحاق ويعقوب وجعلنا في ذريته النبوة والكتاب واتيناه اجره في الدنيا وانه في الاخرة لمن الصالحين
[YA]: And We gave (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob, and ordained among his progeny Prophethood and Revelation, and We granted him his reward in this life; and he was in the Hereafter (of the company) of the Righteous.

[RK]:We granted him Isaac and Jacob, we assigned to his descendants prophethood and the scriptures, we endowed him with his due recompense in this life, and in the Hereafter he will surely be with the righteous.

Wakathalika anzalna ilaykaalkitaba faallatheena ataynahumualkitaba yu/minoona bihi wamin haola-i manyu/minu bihi wama yajhadu bi-ayatinailla alkafiroonaوكذلك انزلنا اليك الكتاب فالذين اتيناهم الكتاب يؤمنون به ومن هؤلاء من يؤمن به ومايجحد باياتنا الا الكافرون
[YA]: And thus (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein, as also do some of these (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject our signs.

[RK]:We have revealed to you this scripture, and those whom we blessed with the previous scripture will believe in it. Also, some of your people will believe in it. Indeed, those who disregard our revelations are the real disbelievers.

Liyakfuroo bima ataynahumwaliyatamattaAAoo fasawfa yaAAlamoonaليكفروا بما اتيناهم وليتمتعوا فسوف يعلمون
[YA]: Disdaining ungratefully Our gifts, and giving themselves up to (worldly) enjoyment! But soon will they know.

[RK]:Let them disbelieve in what we have given them, and let them enjoy temporarily; they will surely find out.

Liyakfuroo bima ataynahumfatamattaAAoo fasawfa taAAlamoonaليكفروا بمااتيناهم فتمتعوا فسوف تعلمون
[YA]: (As if) to show their ingratitude for the (favours) We have bestowed on them! Then enjoy (your brief day); but soon will ye know (your folly).

[RK]:Let them be unappreciative of what we have given them. Enjoy temporarily; you will surely find out.

Faati tha alqurba haqqahuwaalmiskeena waibna alssabeeli thalikakhayrun lillatheena yureedoona wajha Allahi waola-ikahumu almuflihoonaفات ذا القربي حقه والمسكين وابن السبيل ذلك خير للذين يريدون وجه الله واولئك هم المفلحون
[YA]: So give what is due to kindred, the needy, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek the Countenance, of Allah, and it is they who will prosper.

[RK]:Therefore, you shall give the relatives their rightful share (of charity), as well as the poor, and the traveling alien. This is better for those who sincerely seek GOD's pleasure; they are the winners.

Wama ataytum min ribanliyarbuwa fee amwali alnnasi falayarboo AAinda Allahi wama ataytum min zakatintureedoona wajha Allahi faola-ika humu almudAAifoonaومااتيتم من ربا ليربو في اموال الناس فلا يربو عند الله ومااتيتم من زكاة تريدون وجه الله فاولئك هم المضعفون
[YA]: That which ye lay out for increase through the property of (other) people, will have no increase with Allah: but that which ye lay out for charity, seeking the Countenance of Allah, (will increase): it is these who will get a recompense multiplied.

[RK]:The usury that is practiced to increase some people's wealth, does not gain anything at GOD. But if you give to charity, seeking GOD's pleasure, these are the ones who receive their reward manifold.
