[YA]: So warn mankind of the Day when the Wrath will reach them: then will the wrong-doers say: "Our Lord! respite us (if only) for a short term: we will answer Thy call, and follow the messengers!" "What! were ye not wont to swear aforetime that ye should suffer no decline? [RK]:You shall warn the people of the day when the retribution comes to them. Those who transgressed will say, "Our Lord, give us one more respite. We will then respond to Your call and follow the messengers." Did you not swear in the past that you will last forever? | ||||

[YA]: Assuredly it is thy Lord Who will gather them together: for He is perfect in Wisdom and Knowledge. [RK]:Your Lord will surely summon them. He is Most Wise, Omniscient. | ||||

[YA]: And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain. [RK]:And worship your Lord, in order to attain certainty. | ||||

[YA]: And they carry your heavy loads to lands that ye could not (otherwise) reach except with souls distressed: for your Lord is indeed Most Kind, Most Merciful, [RK]:And they carry your loads to lands that you could not reach without a great hardship. Surely, your Lord is Compassionate, Most Merciful. | ||||

[YA]: When it is said to them, "What is it that your Lord has revealed?" they say, "Tales of the ancients!" [RK]:When they are asked, "What do you think of these revelations from your Lord," they say, "Tales from the past." | ||||

[YA]: To the righteous (when) it is said, "What is it that your Lord has revealed?" they say, "All that is good." To those who do good, there is good in this world, and the Home of the Hereafter is even better and excellent indeed is the Home of the righteous,- [RK]:As for the righteous, when they are asked, "What do you think of these revelations from your Lord," they say, "Good." For those who lead a righteous life, happiness; and the abode of the Hereafter is even better. What a blissful abode for the righteous. | ||||

[YA]: Do the (ungodly) wait until the angels come to them, or there comes the Command of thy Lord (for their doom)? So did those who went before them. But Allah wronged them not: nay, they wronged their own souls. [RK]:Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or until your Lord's judgment comes to pass? Those before them did the same thing. GOD is not the One who wronged them; they are the ones who wronged their own souls. | ||||

[YA]: (They are) those who persevere in patience, and put their trust on their Lord. [RK]:This is because they steadfastly persevere, and in their Lord they trust. | ||||

[YA]: Or that He may not call them to account by a process of slow wastage - for thy Lord is indeed full of kindness and mercy. [RK]:Or it may strike them while they are fearfully expecting it. Your Lord is Compassionate, Most Merciful. | ||||

[YA]: They all revere their Lord, high above them, and they do all that they are commanded. [RK]:They reverence their Lord, high above them, and they do what they are commanded to do. | ||||

[YA]: Yet, when He removes the distress from you, behold! some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord- [RK]:Yet, as soon as He relieves your affliction, some of you revert to idol worship. | ||||

[YA]: And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations; [RK]:And your Lord inspired the bee: build homes in mountains and trees, and in (the hives) they build for you. | ||||

[YA]: Then to eat of all the produce (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for men: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought. [RK]:Then eat from all the fruits, following the design of your Lord, precisely. From their bellies comes a drink of different colors, wherein there is healing for the people. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who reflect. | ||||

[YA]: When those who gave partners to Allah will see their "partners", they will say: "Our Lord! these are our 'partners,' those whom we used to invoke besides Thee." But they will throw back their word at them (and say): "Indeed ye are liars!" [RK]:And when those who committed idol worship see their idols, they will say, "Our Lord, these are the idols we had set up beside You." The idols will then confront them and say, "You are liars." | ||||

[YA]: No authority has he over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. [RK]:He has no power over those who believe and trust in their Lord. | ||||

[YA]: Say, the Holy Spirit has brought the revelation from thy Lord in Truth, in order to strengthen those who believe, and as a Guide and Glad Tidings to Muslims. [RK]:Say, "The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord, truthfully, to assure those who believe, and to provide a beacon and good news for the submitters." | ||||

[YA]: But verily thy Lord,- to those who leave their homes after trials and persecutions,- and who thereafter strive and fight for the faith and patiently persevere,- Thy Lord, after all this is oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. [RK]:As for those who emigrate because of persecution, then continue to strive and steadfastly persevere, your Lord, because of all this, is Forgiver, Most Merciful. | ||||

[RK]:The Sabbath was decreed only for those who ended up disputing it (Jews & Christians). Your Lord is the One who will judge them on the Day of Resurrection regarding their disputes. | ||||

[YA]: Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance. [RK]:You shall invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are the guided ones. | ||||

[YA]: Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance. [YA]: It may be that your Lord may (yet) show Mercy unto you; but if ye revert (to your sins), We shall revert (to Our punishments): And we have made Hell a prison for those who reject (all Faith). [RK]:Your Lord showers you with His mercy. But if you revert to transgression, we will counter with retribution. We have designated Gehenna as a final abode for the disbelievers. | ||||

[YA]: We have made the Night and the Day as two (of Our) Signs: the Sign of the Night have We obscured, while the Sign of the Day We have made to enlighten you; that ye may seek bounty from your Lord, and that ye may know the number and count of the years: all things have We explained in detail. [RK]:We rendered the night and the day two signs. We made the night dark, and the day lighted, that you may seek provisions from your Lord therein. This also establishes for you a timing system, and the means of calculation. We thus explain everything in detail. | ||||

[YA]: How many generations have We destroyed after Noah? and enough is thy Lord to note and see the sins of His servants. [RK]:Many a generation have we annihilated after Noah. Your Lord is most efficient in dealing with the sins of His servants; He is fully Cognizant, Seer. | ||||

[YA]: Of the bounties of thy Lord We bestow freely on all- These as well as those: The bounties of thy Lord are not closed (to anyone). [RK]:For each one of them we provide; we provide for those and these from your Lord's bounties. Your Lord's bounties are inexhaustible. | ||||

[YA]: Of the bounties of thy Lord We bestow freely on all- These as well as those: The bounties of thy Lord are not closed (to anyone). [RK]:For each one of them we provide; we provide for those and these from your Lord's bounties. Your Lord's bounties are inexhaustible. | ||||

[YA]: Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. [RK]:Your Lord has decreed that you shall not worship except Him, and your parents shall be honored. As long as one or both of them live, you shall never say to them, "Uff" (the slightest gesture of annoyance), nor shall you shout at them; you shall treat them amicably. | ||||

[YA]: And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: "My Lord! bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood." [RK]:And lower for them the wings of humility, and kindness, and say, "My Lord, have mercy on them, for they have raised me from infancy." | ||||

[YA]: Your Lord knoweth best what is in your hearts: If ye do deeds of righteousness, verily He is Most Forgiving to those who turn to Him again and again (in true penitence). [RK]:Your Lord is fully aware of your innermost thoughts. If you maintain righteousness, He is Forgiver of those who repent. | ||||

[YA]: Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord (himself) ungrateful. [RK]:The extravagant are brethren of the devils, and the devil is unappreciative of his Lord. | ||||

[YA]: And even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the Mercy from thy Lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness. [RK]:Even if you have to turn away from them, as you pursue the mercy of your Lord, you shall treat them in the nicest manner. | ||||

[YA]: Verily thy Lord doth provide sustenance in abundance for whom He pleaseth, and He provideth in a just measure. For He doth know and regard all His servants. [RK]:For your Lord increases the provision for anyone He chooses, and reduces it. He is fully Cognizant of His creatures, Seer. | ||||

[YA]: Of all such things the evil is hateful in the sight of thy Lord. [RK]:All bad behavior is condemned by your Lord. | ||||

[YA]: These are among the (precepts of) wisdom, which thy Lord has revealed to thee. Take not, with Allah, another object of worship, lest thou shouldst be thrown into Hell, blameworthy and rejected. [RK]:This is some of the wisdom inspired to you by your Lord. You shall not set up another god beside GOD, lest you end up in Gehenna, blamed and defeated. | ||||

[YA]: Has then your Lord (O Pagans!) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself daughters among the angels? Truly ye utter a most dreadful saying! [RK]:Has your Lord given you boys, while giving Himself the angels as daughters?! How could you utter such a blasphemy? | ||||

[YA]: And We put coverings over their hearts (and minds) lest they should understand the Qur'an, and deafness into their ears: when thou dost commemorate thy Lord and Him alone in the Qur'an, they turn on their backs, fleeing (from the Truth). [RK]:We place shields around their minds, to prevent them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you preach your Lord, using the Quran alone, they run away in aversion. | ||||
