[YA]: Of Allah, to Whom do belong all things in the heavens and on earth! But alas for the Unbelievers for a terrible penalty (their Unfaith will bring them)!- [RK]:(The path of) GOD; the One who possesses everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Woe to the disbelievers; they have incurred a terrible retribution.
252 | [14:7] Line:1757 |
| ||
[YA]: And remember! your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): "If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; But if ye show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed." [RK]:Your Lord has decreed: "The more you thank Me, the more I give you." But if you turn unappreciative, then My retribution is severe.
253 | [14:8] Line:1758 |
| ||
[YA]: And Moses said: "If ye show ingratitude, ye and all on earth together, yet is Allah free of all wants, worthy of all praise. [RK]:Moses said, "If you disbelieve, along with all the people on earth, GOD is in no need, Praiseworthy."
254 | [14:9] Line:1759 |
| ||
[YA]: Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us." [RK]:Have you not heard about those before you - the people of Noah, `Aad, Thamoud, and others who came after them and known only to GOD? Their messengers went to them with clear proofs, but they treated them with contempt and said, "We disbelieve in what you are sent with. We are skeptical about your message; full of doubt."
255 | [14:13] Line:1763 |
| ||
[YA]: And the Unbelievers said to their messengers: "Be sure we shall drive you out of our land, or ye shall return to our religion." But their Lord inspired (this Message) to them: "Verily We shall cause the wrong-doers to perish! [RK]:Those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will banish you from our land, unless you revert to our religion." Their Lord inspired them: "We will inevitably annihilate the transgressors.
256 | [14:18] Line:1768 |
| ||
[YA]: The parable of those who reject their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a tempestuous day: No power have they over aught that they have earned: that is the straying far, far (from the goal). [RK]:The allegory of those who disbelieve in their Lord: their works are like ashes in a violent wind, on a stormy day. They gain nothing from whatever they earn; such is the farthest straying.
257 | [14:22] Line:1772 |
| ||
[YA]: And Satan will say when the matter is decided: "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty." [RK]:And the devil will say, after the judgment had been issued, "GOD has promised you the truthful promise, and I promised you, but I broke my promise. I had no power over you; I simply invited you, and you accepted my invitation. Therefore, do not blame me, and blame only yourselves. My complaining cannot help you, nor can your complaining help me. I have disbelieved in your idolizing me. The transgressors have incurred a painful retribution."
258 | [14:28] Line:1778 |
| ||
[YA]: Hast thou not turned thy vision to those who have changed the favour of Allah. Into blasphemy and caused their people to descend to the House of Perdition?- [RK]:Have you noted those who responded to GOD's blessings by disbelieving, and thus brought disaster upon their own families?
259 | [14:34] Line:1784 |
| ||
[YA]: And He giveth you of all that ye ask for. But if ye count the favours of Allah, never will ye be able to number them. Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude. [RK]:And He gives you all kinds of things that you implore Him for. If you count GOD's blessings, you can never encompass them. Indeed, the human being is transgressing, unappreciative.
260 | [15:2] Line:1804 |
| ||
[YA]: Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. [RK]:Certainly, those who disbelieved will wish they were submitters.
261 | [16:27] Line:1928 |
| ||
[YA]: Then, on the Day of Judgment, He will cover them with shame, and say: "Where are My 'partners' concerning whom ye used to dispute (with the godly)?" Those endued with knowledge will say: "This Day, indeed, are the Unbelievers covered with shame and misery,- [RK]:Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them and ask, "Where are My partners that you had set up beside Me, and had opposed Me for their sake?" Those blessed with knowledge will say, "Today, the shame and misery have befallen the disbelievers."
262 | [16:39] Line:1940 |
| ||
[YA]: (They must be raised up), in order that He may manifest to them the truth of that wherein they differ, and that the rejecters of Truth may realise that they had indeed (surrendered to) Falsehood. [RK]:He will then point out to everyone all the things they had disputed, and will let those who disbelieved know that they were liars.
263 | [16:55] Line:1956 |
| ||
[YA]: (As if) to show their ingratitude for the favours we have bestowed on them! then enjoy (your brief day): but soon will ye know (your folly)! [RK]:Let them disbelieve in what we have given them. Go ahead and enjoy temporarily; you will surely find out.
264 | [16:72] Line:1973 |
| ||
[YA]: And Allah has made for you mates (and companions) of your own nature, and made for you, out of them, sons and daughters and grandchildren, and provided for you sustenance of the best: will they then believe in vain things, and be ungrateful for Allah's favours?- [RK]:And GOD made for you spouses from among yourselves, and produced for you from your spouses children and grandchildren, and provided you with good provisions. Should they believe in falsehood, and turn unappreciative of GOD's blessings?
265 | [16:83] Line:1984 |
| ||
[YA]: They recognise the favours of Allah; then they deny them; and most of them are (creatures) ungrateful. [RK]:They fully recognize GOD's blessings, then deny them; the majority of them are disbelievers.
266 | [16:84] Line:1985 |
| ||
[YA]: One Day We shall raise from all Peoples a Witness: then will no excuse be accepted from Unbelievers, nor will they receive any favours. [RK]:The day will come when we raise from every community a witness, then those who disbelieved will not be permitted (to speak), nor will they be excused.
267 | [16:88] Line:1989 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah - for them will We add Penalty to Penalty; for that they used to spread mischief. [RK]:Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of GOD, we augment their retribution by adding more retribution, due to their transgressions.
268 | [16:106] Line:2007 |
| ||
[YA]: Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters Unbelief,- except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in Faith - but such as open their breast to Unbelief, on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Penalty. [RK]:Those who disbelieve in GOD, after having acquired faith, and become fully content with disbelief, have incurred wrath from GOD. The only ones to be excused are those who are forced to profess disbelief, while their hearts are full of faith.
269 | [16:106] Line:2007 |
| ||
270 | [16:107] Line:2008 |
| ||
[YA]: This because they love the life of this world better than the Hereafter: and Allah will not guide those who reject Faith. [RK]:This is because they have given priority to this life over the Hereafter, and GOD does not guide such disbelieving people.
271 | [16:112] Line:2013 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah sets forth a Parable: a city enjoying security and quiet, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place: Yet was it ungrateful for the favours of Allah: so Allah made it taste of hunger and terror (in extremes) (closing in on it) like a garment (from every side), because of the (evil) which (its people) wrought. [RK]:GOD cites the example of a community that used to be secure and prosperous, with provisions coming to it from everywhere. But then, it turned unappreciative of GOD's blessings. Consequently, GOD caused them to taste the hardships of starvation and insecurity. Such is the requital for what they did.
272 | [17:8] Line:2037 |
| ||
[YA]: It may be that your Lord may (yet) show Mercy unto you; but if ye revert (to your sins), We shall revert (to Our punishments): And we have made Hell a prison for those who reject (all Faith). [RK]:Your Lord showers you with His mercy. But if you revert to transgression, we will counter with retribution. We have designated Gehenna as a final abode for the disbelievers.
273 | [17:27] Line:2056 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord (himself) ungrateful. [RK]:The extravagant are brethren of the devils, and the devil is unappreciative of his Lord.
274 | [17:67] Line:2096 |
| ||
[YA]: When distress seizes you at sea, those that ye call upon - besides Himself - leave you in the lurch! but when He brings you back safe to land, ye turn away (from Him). Most ungrateful is man! [RK]:If you are afflicted in the middle of the sea, you forget your idols and sincerely implore Him alone. But as soon as He saves you to the shore, you revert. Indeed, the human being is unappreciative.
275 | [17:69] Line:2098 |
| ||
[YA]: Or do ye feel secure that He will not send you back a second time to sea and send against you a heavy gale to drown you because of your ingratitude, so that ye find no helper. Therein against Us? [RK]:Have you guaranteed that He will not return you to the sea another time, then send upon you a storm that drowns you because of your disbelief? Once this happens, we will not give you another chance.
276 | [17:89] Line:2118 |
| ||
[YA]: And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! [RK]:We have cited for the people in this Quran all kinds of examples, but most people insist upon disbelieving.
277 | [17:98] Line:2127 |
| ||
[YA]: That is their recompense, because they rejected Our signs, and said, "When we are reduced to bones and broken dust, should we really be raised up (to be) a new Creation?" [RK]:Such is their just retribution, since they rejected our revelations. They said, "After we turn into bones and fragments, do we get resurrected into a new creation?"
278 | [17:99] Line:2128 |
| ||
[YA]: See they not that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, has power to create the like of them (anew)? Only He has decreed a term appointed, of which there is no doubt. But the unjust refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude. [RK]:Could they not see that the GOD who created the heavens and the earth is able to create the same creations? (That) He has predetermined for them an irrevocable life span? Yet, the disbelievers insist upon disbelieving.
279 | [18:29] Line:2169 |
| ||
[YA]: Say, "The truth is from your Lord": Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it): for the wrong-doers We have prepared a Fire whose (smoke and flames), like the walls and roof of a tent, will hem them in: if they implore relief they will be granted water like melted brass, that will scald their faces, how dreadful the drink! How uncomfortable a couch to recline on! [RK]:Proclaim: "This is the truth from your Lord," then whoever wills let him believe, and whoever wills let him disbelieve. We have prepared for the transgressors a fire that will completely surround them. When they scream for help, they will be given a liquid like concentrated acid that scalds the faces. What a miserable drink! What a miserable destiny!
280 | [18:37] Line:2177 |
| ||
[YA]: His companion said to him, in the course of the argument with him: "Dost thou deny Him Who created thee out of dust, then out of a sperm-drop, then fashioned thee into a man? [RK]:His friend said to him, as he debated with him, "Have you disbelieved in the One who created you from dust, then from a tiny drop, then perfected you into a man?
281 | [18:56] Line:2196 |
| ||
[YA]: We only send the messengers to give Glad Tidings and to give warnings: But the unbelievers dispute with vain argument, in order therewith to weaken the truth, and they treat My Signs as a jest, as also the fact that they are warned! [RK]:We only send the messengers as simply deliverers of good news, as well as warners. Those who disbelieve argue with falsehood to defeat the truth, and they take My proofs and warnings in vain.
282 | [18:80] Line:2220 |
| ||
[YA]: "As for the youth, his parents were people of Faith, and we feared that he would grieve them by obstinate rebellion and ingratitude (to Allah and man). [RK]:"As for the boy, his parents were good believers, and we saw that he was going to burden them with his transgression and disbelief.
283 | [18:100] Line:2240 |
| ||
[YA]: And We shall present Hell that day for Unbelievers to see, all spread out,- [RK]:We will present Hell, on that day, to the disbelievers.
284 | [18:102] Line:2242 |
| ||
[YA]: Do the Unbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors besides Me? Verily We have prepared Hell for the Unbelievers for (their) entertainment. [RK]:Do those who disbelieve think that they can get away with setting up My servants as gods beside Me? We have prepared for the disbelievers Hell as an eternal abode.
285 | [18:102] Line:2242 |
| ||
286 | [18:105] Line:2245 |
| ||
[YA]: They are those who deny the Signs of their Lord and the fact of their having to meet Him (in the Hereafter): vain will be their works, nor shall We, on the Day of Judgment, give them any weight. [RK]:Such are the ones who disbelieved in the revelations of their Lord and in meeting Him. Therefore, their works are in vain; on the Day of Resurrection, they have no weight.
287 | [18:106] Line:2246 |
| ||
[YA]: That is their reward, Hell, because they rejected Faith, and took My Signs and My Messengers by way of jest. [RK]:Their just requital is Hell, in return for their disbelief, and for mocking My revelations and My messengers.
288 | [19:37] Line:2287 |
| ||
[YA]: But the sects differ among themselves: and woe to the unbelievers because of the (coming) Judgment of a Momentous Day! [RK]:The various parties disputed among themselves (regarding the identity of Jesus). Therefore, woe to those who disbelieve from the sight of a terrible day.
289 | [19:73] Line:2323 |
| ||
[YA]: When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, the Unbelievers say to those who believe, "Which of the two sides is best in point of position? Which makes the best show in council?" [RK]:When our revelations are recited to them, clearly, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of us is more prosperous? Which of us is in the majority?"
290 | [19:77] Line:2327 |
| ||
[YA]: Hast thou then seen the (sort of) man who rejects Our Signs, yet says: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children?" [RK]:Have you noted the one who rejected our revelations then said, "I will be given wealth and children"?!
291 | [19:82] Line:2332 |
| ||
[YA]: Instead, they shall reject their worship, and become adversaries against them. [RK]:On the contrary, they will reject their idolatry, and will be their enemies.
292 | [19:83] Line:2333 |
| ||
[YA]: Seest thou not that We have set the Evil Ones on against the unbelievers, to incite them with fury? [RK]:Do you not see how we unleash the devils upon the disbelievers to stir them up?
293 | [21:30] Line:2513 |
| ||
[YA]: Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? [RK]:Do the unbelievers not realize that the heaven and the earth used to be one solid mass that we exploded into existence? And from water we made all living things. Would they believe?
294 | [21:36] Line:2519 |
| ||
[YA]: When the Unbelievers see thee, they treat thee not except with ridicule. "Is this," (they say), "the one who talks of your gods?" and they blaspheme at the mention of (Allah) Most Gracious! [RK]:When those who disbelieve see you, they ridicule you: "Is this the one who challenges your gods?" Meanwhile, they remain totally heedless of the message from the Most Gracious.
295 | [21:36] Line:2519 |
| ||
296 | [21:39] Line:2522 |
| ||
[YA]: If only the Unbelievers knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor yet from their backs, and (when) no help can reach them! [RK]:If only those who disbelieve could envision themselves when they try to ward off the fire - off their faces and their backs! No one will help them then.
297 | [21:94] Line:2577 |
| ||
[YA]: Whoever works any act of righteousness and has faith,- His endeavour will not be rejected: We shall record it in his favour. [RK]:As for those who work righteousness, while believing, their work will not go to waste; we are recording it.
298 | [21:97] Line:2580 |
| ||
[YA]: Then will the true promise draw nigh (of fulfilment): then behold! the eyes of the Unbelievers will fixedly stare in horror: "Ah! Woe to us! we were indeed heedless of this; nay, we truly did wrong!" [RK]:That is when the inevitable prophecy will come to pass, and the disbelievers will stare in horror: "Woe to us; we have been oblivious. Indeed, we have been wicked."
299 | [22:19] Line:2614 |
| ||
[YA]: These two antagonists dispute with each other about their Lord: But those who deny (their Lord),- for them will be cut out a garment of Fire: over their heads will be poured out boiling water. [RK]:Here are two parties feuding with regard to their Lord. As for those who disbelieve, they will have clothes of fire tailored for them. Hellish liquid will be poured on top of their heads.
300 | [22:25] Line:2620 |
| ||
[YA]: As to those who have rejected (Allah), and would keep back (men) from the Way of Allah, and from the Sacred Mosque, which We have made (open) to (all) men - equal is the dweller there and the visitor from the country - and any whose purpose therein is profanity or wrong-doing - them will We cause to taste of a most Grievous Penalty. [RK]:Surely, those who disbelieve and repulse others from the path of GOD, and from the Sacred Masjid that we designated for all the people - be they natives or visitors - and seek to pollute it and corrupt it, we will afflict them with painful retribution.
