[YA]: Further he said: "O my sons! enter not all by one gate: enter ye by different gates. Not that I can profit you aught against Allah (with my advice): None can command except Allah: On Him do I put my trust: and let all that trust put their trust on Him." [RK]:And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one door; enter through separate doors. However, I cannot save you from anything that is predetermined by GOD. To GOD belongs all judgments. I trust in Him, and in Him shall all the trusters put their trust."
202 | [12:68] Line:1664 |
| ||
[YA]: And when they entered in the manner their father had enjoined, it did not profit them in the least against (the plan of) Allah: It was but a necessity of Jacob's soul, which he discharged. For he was, by our instruction, full of knowledge (and experience): but most men know not. [RK]:When they went (to Joseph), they entered in accordance with their father's instructions. Although this could not change anything decreed by GOD, Jacob had a private reason for asking them to do this. For he possessed certain knowledge that we taught him, but most people do not know.
203 | [12:84] Line:1680 |
| ||
[YA]: And he turned away from them, and said: "How great is my grief for Joseph!" And his eyes became white with sorrow, and he fell into silent melancholy. [RK]:He turned away from them, saying, "I am grieving over Joseph." His eyes turned white from grieving so much; he was truly sad.
204 | [12:105] Line:1701 |
| ||
[YA]: And how many Signs in the heavens and the earth do they pass by? Yet they turn (their faces) away from them! [RK]:So many proofs in the heavens and the earth are given to them, but they pass by them, heedlessly!
205 | [12:110] Line:1706 |
| ||
[YA]: (Respite will be granted) until, when the messengers give up hope (of their people) and (come to) think that they were treated as liars, there reaches them Our help, and those whom We will are delivered into safety. But never will be warded off our punishment from those who are in sin. [RK]:Just when the messengers despair, and think that they had been rejected, our victory comes to them. We then save whomever we choose, while our retribution for the guilty people is unavoidable.
206 | [13:33] Line:1740 |
| ||
[YA]: Is then He who standeth over every soul (and knoweth) all that it doth, (like any others)? And yet they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: "But name them! is it that ye will inform Him of something he knoweth not on earth, or is it (just) a show of words?" Nay! to those who believe not, their pretence seems pleasing, but they are kept back (thereby) from the path. And those whom Allah leaves to stray, no one can guide. [RK]:Is there any equal to the One who controls every single soul? Yet, they set up idols to rival GOD. Say, "Name them. Are you informing Him of something on earth that He does not know? Or, are you fabricating empty statements?" Indeed, the schemes of those who disbelieve have been adorned in their eyes. They are thus diverted from the right path. Whomever GOD sends astray can never find a guiding teacher.
207 | [14:3] Line:1753 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance. [RK]:They are the ones who give priority to this life over the Hereafter, repel from the way of GOD, and seek to make it crooked; they have gone far astray.
208 | [14:21] Line:1771 |
| ||
[YA]: They will all be marshalled before Allah together: then will the weak say to those who were arrogant, "For us, we but followed you; can ye then avail us to all against the wrath of Allah?" They will reply, "If we had received the Guidance of Allah, we should have given it to you: to us it makes no difference (now) whether we rage, or bear (these torments) with patience: for ourselves there is no way of escape." [RK]:When they all stand before GOD, the followers will say to the leaders, "We used to follow you. Can you spare us even a little bit of GOD's retribution?" They will say, "Had GOD guided us, we would have guided you. Now it is too late, whether we grieve or resort to patience, there is no exit for us."
209 | [14:30] Line:1780 |
| ||
[YA]: And they set up (idols) as equal to Allah, to mislead (men) from the Path! Say: "Enjoy (your brief power)! But verily ye are making straightway for Hell!" [RK]:They set up rivals to rank with GOD and to divert others from His path. Say, "Enjoy for awhile; your final destiny is Hell."
210 | [15:51] Line:1853 |
| ||
[YA]: Tell them about the guests of Abraham. [RK]:Inform them about Abraham's guests.
211 | [15:70] Line:1872 |
| ||
[YA]: They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" [RK]:They said, "Did we not enjoin you from contacting anyone?"
212 | [15:81] Line:1883 |
| ||
[YA]: We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. [RK]:We gave them our revelations, but they disregarded them.
213 | [15:84] Line:1886 |
| ||
[YA]: And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! [RK]:What they hoarded did not help them.
214 | [15:94] Line:1896 |
| ||
[YA]: Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah. [RK]:Therefore, carry out the orders given to you, and disregard the idol worshipers.
215 | [16:48] Line:1949 |
| ||
[YA]: Do they not look at Allah's creation, (even) among (inanimate) things,- How their (very) shadows turn round, from the right and the left, prostrating themselves to Allah, and that in the humblest manner? [RK]:Have they not seen all the things created by GOD? Their shadows surround them right and left, in total submission to GOD, and willingly.
216 | [16:54] Line:1955 |
| ||
[YA]: Yet, when He removes the distress from you, behold! some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord- [RK]:Yet, as soon as He relieves your affliction, some of you revert to idol worship.
217 | [16:85] Line:1986 |
| ||
[YA]: When the wrong-doers (actually) see the Penalty, then will it in no way be mitigated, nor will they then receive respite. [RK]:Once those who transgressed see the retribution, it will be too late; it will not be commuted for them, nor will they be respited.
218 | [16:87] Line:1988 |
| ||
[YA]: That Day shall they (openly) show (their) submission to Allah; and all their inventions shall leave them in the lurch. [RK]:They will totally submit to GOD on that day, and the idols they had invented will disown them.
219 | [16:88] Line:1989 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah - for them will We add Penalty to Penalty; for that they used to spread mischief. [RK]:Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of GOD, we augment their retribution by adding more retribution, due to their transgressions.
220 | [16:90] Line:1991 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition. [RK]:GOD advocates justice, charity, and regarding the relatives. And He forbids evil, vice, and transgression. He enlightens you, that you may take heed.
221 | [16:94] Line:1995 |
| ||
[YA]: And take not your oaths, to practise deception between yourselves, with the result that someone's foot may slip after it was firmly planted, and ye may have to taste the evil (consequences) of having hindered (men) from the Path of Allah, and a Mighty Wrath descend on you. [RK]:Do not abuse the oaths among you, lest you slide back after having a strong foothold, then you incur misery. Such is the consequence of repelling from the path of GOD (by setting a bad example); you incur a terrible retribution.
222 | [16:111] Line:2012 |
| ||
[YA]: One Day every soul will come up struggling for itself, and every soul will be recompensed (fully) for all its actions, and none will be unjustly dealt with. [RK]:The day will come when every soul will serve as its own advocate, and every soul will be paid fully for whatever it had done, without the least injustice.
223 | [16:125] Line:2026 |
| ||
[YA]: Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance. [RK]:You shall invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are the guided ones.
224 | [17:28] Line:2057 |
| ||
[YA]: And even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the Mercy from thy Lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness. [RK]:Even if you have to turn away from them, as you pursue the mercy of your Lord, you shall treat them in the nicest manner.
225 | [17:36] Line:2065 |
| ||
[YA]: And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning). [RK]:You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them.
226 | [17:56] Line:2085 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "Call on those - besides Him - whom ye fancy: they have neither the power to remove your troubles from you nor to change them." [RK]:Say, "Implore whatever idols you have set up beside Him." They have no power to relieve your afflictions, nor can they prevent them.
227 | [17:73] Line:2102 |
| ||
[YA]: And their purpose was to tempt thee away from that which We had revealed unto thee, to substitute in our name something quite different; (in that case), behold! they would certainly have made thee (their) friend! [RK]:They almost diverted you from the revelations we have given you. They wanted you to fabricate something else, in order to consider you a friend.
228 | [17:85] Line:2114 |
| ||
[YA]: They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" [RK]:They ask you about the revelation. Say, "The revelation comes from my Lord. The knowledge given to you is minute."
229 | [18:17] Line:2157 |
| ||
[YA]: Thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the Cave. Such are among the Signs of Allah: He whom Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the Right Way. [RK]:You could see the sun when it rose coming from the right side of their cave, and when it set, it shone on them from the left, as they slept in the hollow thereof. This is one of GOD's portents. Whomever GOD guides is the truly guided one, and whomever He sends astray, you will not find for him a guiding teacher.
230 | [18:28] Line:2168 |
| ||
[YA]: And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds. [RK]:You shall force yourself to be with those who worship their Lord day and night, seeking Him alone. Do not turn your eyes away from them, seeking the vanities of this world. Nor shall you obey one whose heart we rendered oblivious to our message; one who pursues his own desires, and whose priorities are confused.
231 | [18:28] Line:2168 |
| ||
232 | [18:50] Line:2190 |
| ||
[YA]: Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you! Evil would be the exchange for the wrong-doers! [RK]:We said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam." They fell prostrate, except Satan. He became a jinn, for he disobeyed the order of His Lord. Will you choose him and his descendants as lords instead of Me, even though they are your enemies? What a miserable substitute!
233 | [18:53] Line:2193 |
| ||
[YA]: And the Sinful shall see the fire and apprehend that they have to fall therein: no means will they find to turn away therefrom. [RK]:The guilty will see Hell, and will realize that they will fall into it. They will have no escape therefrom.
234 | [18:57] Line:2197 |
| ||
[YA]: And who doth more wrong than one who is reminded of the Signs of his Lord, but turns away from them, forgetting the (deeds) which his hands have sent forth? Verily We have set veils over their hearts lest they should understand this, and over their ears, deafness, if thou callest them to guidance, even then will they never accept guidance. [RK]:Who are more evil than those who are reminded of their Lord's proofs, then disregard them, without realizing what they are doing. Consequently, we place shields on their hearts to prevent them from understanding it (the Quran), and deafness in their ears. Thus, no matter what you do to guide them, they can never ever be guided.
235 | [18:70] Line:2210 |
| ||
[YA]: The other said: "If then thou wouldst follow me, ask me no questions about anything until I myself speak to thee concerning it." [RK]:He said, "If you follow me, then you shall not ask me about anything, unless I choose to tell you about it."
236 | [18:76] Line:2216 |
| ||
[YA]: (Moses) said: "If ever I ask thee about anything after this, keep me not in thy company: then wouldst thou have received (full) excuse from my side." [RK]:He said, "If I ask you about anything else, then do not keep me with you. You have seen enough apologies from me."
237 | [18:82] Line:2222 |
| ||
[YA]: "As for the wall, it belonged to two youths, orphans, in the Town; there was, beneath it, a buried treasure, to which they were entitled: their father had been a righteous man: So thy Lord desired that they should attain their age of full strength and get out their treasure - a mercy (and favour) from thy Lord. I did it not of my own accord. Such is the interpretation of (those things) over which thou wast unable to hold patience." [RK]:"As for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city. Under it, there was a treasure that belonged to them. Because their father was a righteous man, your Lord wanted them to grow up and attain full strength, then extract their treasure. Such is mercy from your Lord. I did none of that of my own volition. This is the explanation of the things you could not stand."
238 | [18:83] Line:2223 |
| ||
[YA]: They ask thee concerning Zul-qarnain. Say, "I will rehearse to you something of his story." [RK]:They ask you about Zul-Qarnain. Say, "I will narrate to you some of his history."
239 | [18:101] Line:2241 |
| ||
[YA]: (Unbelievers) whose eyes had been under a veil from remembrance of Me, and who had been unable even to hear. [RK]:They are the ones whose eyes were too veiled to see My message. Nor could they hear.
240 | [18:108] Line:2248 |
| ||
[YA]: Wherein they shall dwell (for aye): no change will they wish for from them. [RK]:Forever they abide therein; they will never want any other substitute.
241 | [19:42] Line:2292 |
| ||
[YA]: Behold, he said to his father: "O my father! why worship that which heareth not and seeth not, and can profit thee nothing? [RK]:He said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship what can neither hear, nor see, nor help you in any way?
242 | [19:46] Line:2296 |
| ||
[YA]: (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!" [RK]:He said, "Have you forsaken my gods, O Abraham? Unless you stop, I will stone you. Leave me alone."
243 | [20:16] Line:2364 |
| ||
[YA]: "Therefore let not such as believe not therein but follow their own lusts, divert thee therefrom, lest thou perish!".. [RK]:"Do not be diverted therefrom by those who do not believe in it - those who pursue their own opinions - lest you fall.
244 | [20:83] Line:2431 |
| ||
[YA]: (When Moses was up on the Mount, Allah said:) "What made thee hasten in advance of thy people, O Moses?" [RK]:"Why did you rush away from your people, O Moses?"
245 | [20:100] Line:2448 |
| ||
[YA]: If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment; [RK]:Those who disregard it will bear a load (of sins) on the Day of Resurrection.
246 | [20:105] Line:2453 |
| ||
[YA]: They ask thee concerning the Mountains: say, "My Lord will uproot them and scatter them as dust; [RK]:They ask you about the mountains. Say, "My Lord will wipe them out.
247 | [20:124] Line:2472 |
| ||
[YA]: "But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment." [RK]:"As for the one who disregards My message, he will have a miserable life, and we resurrect him, on the Day of Resurrection, blind."
248 | [21:19] Line:2502 |
| ||
[YA]: To Him belong all (creatures) in the heavens and on earth: Even those who are in His (very) Presence are not too proud to serve Him, nor are they (ever) weary (of His service): [RK]:To Him belongs everyone in the heavens and the earth, and those at Him are never too arrogant to worship Him, nor do they ever waver.
249 | [21:32] Line:2515 |
| ||
[YA]: And We have made the heavens as a canopy well guarded: yet do they turn away from the Signs which these things (point to)! [RK]:And we rendered the sky a guarded ceiling. Yet, they are totally oblivious to all the portents therein.
250 | [21:39] Line:2522 |
| ||
[YA]: If only the Unbelievers knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor yet from their backs, and (when) no help can reach them! [RK]:If only those who disbelieve could envision themselves when they try to ward off the fire - off their faces and their backs! No one will help them then.
