[YA]: Say: "I have no power over any good or harm to myself except as Allah willeth. If I had knowledge of the unseen, I should have multiplied all good, and no evil should have touched me: I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings to those who have faith." [RK]:Say, "I have no power to benefit myself, or harm myself. Only what GOD wills happens to me. If I knew the future, I would have increased my wealth, and no harm would have afflicted me. I am no more than a warner, and a bearer of good news for those who believe."
52 | [8:19] Line:1179 |
| ||
[YA]: (O Unbelievers!) if ye prayed for victory and judgment, now hath the judgment come to you: if ye desist (from wrong), it will be best for you: if ye return (to the attack), so shall We. Not the least good will your forces be to you even if they were multiplied: for verily Allah is with those who believe! [RK]:You sought victory (O disbelievers), and victory did come; it belonged to the believers. If you refrain (from aggression) it would be better for you, but if you return, so will we. Your armies will never help you, no matter how great. For GOD is on the side of the believers.
53 | [8:34] Line:1194 |
| ||
[YA]: But what plea have they that Allah should not punish them, when they keep out (men) from the sacred Mosque - and they are not its guardians? No men can be its guardians except the righteous; but most of them do not understand. [RK]:Have they not deserved GOD's retribution, by repelling others from the Sacred Masjid, even though they are not the custodians thereof? The true custodians thereof are the righteous, but most of them do not know.
54 | [8:43] Line:1203 |
| ||
[YA]: Remember in thy dream Allah showed them to thee as few: if He had shown them to thee as many, ye would surely have been discouraged, and ye would surely have disputed in (your) decision; but Allah saved (you): for He knoweth well the (secrets) of (all) hearts. [RK]:GOD made them appear in your dream (O Muhammad) fewer in number. Had He made them appear more numerous, you would have failed, and you would have disputed among yourselves. But GOD saved the situation. He is Knower of the innermost thoughts.
55 | [8:45] Line:1205 |
| ||
[YA]: O ye who believe! When ye meet a force, be firm, and call Allah in remembrance much (and often); that ye may prosper: [RK]:O you who believe, when you encounter an army, you shall hold fast and commemorate GOD frequently, that you may succeed.
56 | [9:8] Line:1243 |
| ||
[YA]: How (can there be such a league), seeing that if they get an advantage over you, they respect not in you the ties either of kinship or of covenant? With (fair words from) their mouths they entice you, but their hearts are averse from you; and most of them are rebellious and wicked. [RK]:How can they (demand a pledge) when they never observed any rights of kinship between you and them, nor any covenant, if they ever had a chance to prevail. They pacified you with lip service, while their hearts were in opposition, and most of them are wicked.
57 | [9:25] Line:1260 |
| ||
[YA]: Assuredly Allah did help you in many battle-fields and on the day of Hunain: Behold! your great numbers elated you, but they availed you naught: the land, for all that it is wide, did constrain you, and ye turned back in retreat. [RK]:GOD has granted you victory in many situations. But on the day of Hunayn, you became too proud of your great number. Consequently, it did not help you at all, and the spacious earth became so straitened around you, that you turned around and fled.

59 | [9:34] Line:1269 |

[YA]: O ye who believe! there are indeed many among the priests and anchorites, who in Falsehood devour the substance of men and hinder (them) from the way of Allah. And there are those who bury gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah: announce unto them a most grievous penalty- [RK]:O you who believe, many religious leaders and preachers take the people's money illicitly, and repel from the path of GOD. Those who hoard the gold and silver, and do not spend them in the cause of GOD, promise them a painful retribution.
60 | [9:69] Line:1304 |
| ||
[YA]: As in the case of those before you: they were mightier than you in power, and more flourishing in wealth and children. They had their enjoyment of their portion: and ye have of yours, as did those before you; and ye indulge in idle talk as they did. They!- their work are fruitless in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will lose (all spiritual good). [RK]:Some of those before you were stronger than you, and possessed more money and children. They became preoccupied with their material possessions. Similarly, you have become preoccupied with your material possessions, just like those before you have become preoccupied. You have become totally heedless, just as they were heedless. Such are the people who nullify their works, both in this world and in the Hereafter; they are the losers.
61 | [9:82] Line:1317 |
| ||
[YA]: Let them laugh a little: much will they weep: a recompense for the (evil) that they do. [RK]:Let them laugh a little, and cry a lot. This is the requital for the sins they have earned.
62 | [10:36] Line:1400 |
| ||
[YA]: But most of them follow nothing but fancy: truly fancy can be of no avail against truth. Verily Allah is well aware of all that they do. [RK]:Most of them follow nothing but conjecture, and conjecture is no substitute for the truth. GOD is fully aware of everything they do.
63 | [10:55] Line:1419 |
| ||
[YA]: Is it not (the case) that to Allah belongeth whatever is in the heavens and on earth? Is it not (the case) that Allah's promise is assuredly true? Yet most of them understand not. [RK]:Absolutely, to GOD belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. Absolutely, GOD's promise is truth, but most of them do not know.
64 | [10:60] Line:1424 |
| ||
[YA]: And what think those who invent lies against Allah, of the Day of Judgment? Verily Allah is full of bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful. [RK]:Does it ever occur to those who fabricate lies about GOD that they will have to face Him on the Day of Resurrection? Certainly, GOD showers the people with His grace, but most of them are unappreciative.
65 | [10:92] Line:1456 |
| ||
[YA]: "This day shall We save thee in the body, that thou mayest be a sign to those who come after thee! but verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Signs!" [RK]:"Today, we will preserve your body, to set you up as a lesson for future generations." Unfortunately, many people are totally oblivious to our signs.
66 | [11:17] Line:1490 |
| ||
[YA]: Can they be (like) those who accept a Clear (Sign) from their Lord, and whom a witness from Himself doth teach, as did the Book of Moses before it,- a guide and a mercy? They believe therein; but those of the Sects that reject it,- the Fire will be their promised meeting-place. Be not then in doubt thereon: for it is the truth from thy Lord: yet many among men do not believe! [RK]:As for those who are given solid proof from their Lord, reported by a witness from Him, and before it, the book of Moses has set a precedent and a mercy, they will surely believe. As for those who disbelieve among the various groups, Hell is awaiting them. Do not harbor any doubt; this is the truth from your Lord, but most people disbelieve.
67 | [11:32] Line:1505 |
| ||
[YA]: They said: "O Noah! thou hast disputed with us, and (much) hast thou prolonged the dispute with us: now bring upon us what thou threatenest us with, if thou speakest the truth!?" [RK]:They said, "O Noah, you have argued with us, and kept on arguing. We challenge you to bring the doom you threaten us with, if you are truthful."
68 | [11:91] Line:1564 |
| ||
[YA]: They said: "O Shu'aib! much of what thou sayest we do not understand! In fact among us we see that thou hast no strength! Were it not for thy family, we should certainly have stoned thee! for thou hast among us no great position!" [RK]:They said, "O Shu`aib, we do not comprehend many of the things you are telling us, and we see that you are powerless among us. If it were not for your tribe, we would have stoned you. You have no value for us."
69 | [12:21] Line:1617 |
| ||
[YA]: The man in Egypt who bought him, said to his wife: "Make his stay (among us) honourable: may be he will bring us much good, or we shall adopt him as a son." Thus did We establish Joseph in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of stories (and events). And Allah hath full power and control over His affairs; but most among mankind know it not. [RK]:The one who bought him in Egypt said to his wife, "Take good care of him. Maybe he can help us, or maybe we can adopt him." We thus established Joseph on earth, and we taught him the interpretation of dreams. GOD's command is always done, but most people do not know.
70 | [12:38] Line:1634 |
| ||
[YA]: "And I follow the ways of my fathers,- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and never could we attribute any partners whatever to Allah: that (comes) of the grace of Allah to us and to mankind: yet most men are not grateful. [RK]:"And I followed instead the religion of my ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We never set up any idols beside GOD. Such is the blessing from GOD upon us and upon the people, but most people are unappreciative.
71 | [12:40] Line:1636 |
| ||
[YA]: "If not Him, ye worship nothing but names which ye have named,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah hath sent down no authority: the command is for none but Allah: He hath commanded that ye worship none but Him: that is the right religion, but most men understand not... [RK]:"You do not worship beside Him except innovations that you have made up, you and your parents. GOD has never authorized such idols. All ruling belongs to GOD, and He has ruled that you shall not worship except Him. This is the perfect religion, but most people do not know.
72 | [12:68] Line:1664 |
| ||
[YA]: And when they entered in the manner their father had enjoined, it did not profit them in the least against (the plan of) Allah: It was but a necessity of Jacob's soul, which he discharged. For he was, by our instruction, full of knowledge (and experience): but most men know not. [RK]:When they went (to Joseph), they entered in accordance with their father's instructions. Although this could not change anything decreed by GOD, Jacob had a private reason for asking them to do this. For he possessed certain knowledge that we taught him, but most people do not know.
73 | [12:103] Line:1699 |
| ||
[YA]: Yet no faith will the greater part of mankind have, however ardently thou dost desire it. [RK]:Most people, no matter what you do, will not believe.
74 | [12:106] Line:1702 |
| ||
[YA]: And most of them believe not in Allah without associating (other as partners) with Him! [RK]:The majority of those who believe in GOD do not do so without committing idol worship.
75 | [13:1] Line:1708 |
| ||
[YA]: A.L.M.R. These are the signs (or verses) of the Book: that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth; but most men believe not. [RK]:A. L. M. R. These (letters) are proofs of this scripture. What is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most people do not believe.
76 | [14:36] Line:1786 |
| ||
[YA]: "O my Lord! they have indeed led astray many among mankind; He then who follows my (ways) is of me, and he that disobeys me,- but Thou art indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. [RK]:"My Lord, they have misled so many people. As for those who follow me, they belong with me. As for those who disobey me, You are Forgiver, Most Merciful.
77 | [16:38] Line:1939 |
| ||
[YA]: They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that Allah will not raise up those who die: Nay, but it is a promise (binding) on Him in truth: but most among mankind realise it not. [RK]:They swore solemnly by GOD: "GOD will not resurrect the dead." Absolutely, such is His inviolable promise, but most people do not know.
78 | [16:75] Line:1976 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah sets forth the Parable (of two men: one) a slave under the dominion of another; He has no power of any sort; and (the other) a man on whom We have bestowed goodly favours from Ourselves, and he spends thereof (freely), privately and publicly: are the two equal? (By no means;) praise be to Allah. But most of them understand not. [RK]:GOD cites the example of a slave who is owned, and is totally powerless, compared to one whom we blessed with good provisions, from which he gives to charity secretly and publicly. Are they equal? Praise be to GOD, most of them do not know.
79 | [16:83] Line:1984 |
| ||
[YA]: They recognise the favours of Allah; then they deny them; and most of them are (creatures) ungrateful. [RK]:They fully recognize GOD's blessings, then deny them; the majority of them are disbelievers.
80 | [16:101] Line:2002 |
| ||
[YA]: When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),- they say, "Thou art but a forger": but most of them understand not. [RK]:When we substitute one revelation in place of another, and GOD is fully aware of what He reveals, they say, "You made this up!" Indeed, most of them do not know.
81 | [17:6] Line:2035 |
| ||
[YA]: Then did We grant you the Return as against them: We gave you increase in resources and sons, and made you the more numerous in man-power. [RK]:"Afterwards, we will give you a turn over them, and will supply you with a lot of wealth and children; we will give you the upper hand.
82 | [17:70] Line:2099 |
| ||
[YA]: We have honoured the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favours, above a great part of our creation. [RK]:We have honored the children of Adam, and provided them with rides on land and in the sea. We provided for them good provisions, and we gave them greater advantages than many of our creatures.
83 | [17:89] Line:2118 |
| ||
[YA]: And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! [RK]:We have cited for the people in this Quran all kinds of examples, but most people insist upon disbelieving.
84 | [18:34] Line:2174 |
| ||
[YA]: (Abundant) was the produce this man had : he said to his companion, in the course of a mutual argument: "more wealth have I than you, and more honour and power in (my following of) men." [RK]:Once, after harvesting, he boastfully told his friend: "I am far more prosperous than you, and I command more respect from the people."
85 | [18:54] Line:2194 |
| ||
[YA]: We have explained in detail in this Qur'an, for the benefit of mankind, every kind of similitude: but man is, in most things, contentious. [RK]:We have cited in this Quran every kind of example, but the human being is the most argumentative creature.
86 | [20:33] Line:2381 |
| ||
[YA]: "That we may celebrate Thy praise without stint, [RK]:"That we may glorify You frequently.
87 | [20:34] Line:2382 |
| ||
[YA]: "And remember Thee without stint: [RK]:"And commemorate You frequently.
88 | [21:24] Line:2507 |
| ||
[YA]: Or have they taken for worship (other) gods besides him? Say, "Bring your convincing proof: this is the Message of those with me and the Message of those before me." But most of them know not the Truth, and so turn away. [RK]:Have they found other gods beside Him? Say, "Show me your proof. This is the message to my generation, consummating all previous messages." Indeed, most of them do not recognize the truth; this is why they are so hostile.
89 | [22:18] Line:2613 |
| ||
[YA]: Seest thou not that to Allah bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as Allah shall disgrace,- None can raise to honour: for Allah carries out all that He wills. [RK]:Do you not realize that to GOD prostrates everyone in the heavens and the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and the animals, and many people? Many others among the people are committed to doom. Whomever GOD shames, none will honor him. Everything is in accordance with GOD's will.
90 | [22:18] Line:2613 |
| ||
[YA]: Seest thou not that to Allah bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? 91 | [22:40] Line:2635 |
| ||
[YA]: (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will). [RK]:They were evicted from their homes unjustly, for no reason other than saying, "Our Lord is GOD." If it were not for GOD's supporting of some people against others, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and masjids - where the name of GOD is commemorated frequently - would have been destroyed. Absolutely, GOD supports those who support Him. GOD is Powerful, Almighty.
92 | [23:19] Line:2692 |
| ||
[YA]: With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),- [RK]:With it, we produce for you orchards of date palms, grapes, all kinds of fruits, and various foods.
93 | [23:21] Line:2694 |
| ||
[YA]: And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat; [RK]:And the livestock should provide you with a lesson. We let you drink (milk) from their bellies, you derive other benefits from them, and some of them you use for food.
94 | [23:70] Line:2743 |
| ||
[YA]: Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. [RK]:Have they decided that he is crazy? Indeed, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them hate the truth.
95 | [25:14] Line:2869 |
| ||
[YA]: "This day plead not for a single destruction: plead for destruction oft-repeated!" [RK]:You will not declare just a single remorse, on that day; you will suffer through a great number of remorses.
96 | [25:38] Line:2893 |
| ||
[YA]: As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them. [RK]:Also `Aad, Thamoud, the inhabitants of Al-Russ, and many generations between them.
97 | [25:44] Line:2899 |
| ||
[YA]: Or thinkest thou that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle;- nay, they are worse astray in Path. [RK]:Do you think that most of them hear, or understand? They are just like animals; no, they are far worse.
98 | [25:49] Line:2904 |
| ||
[YA]: That with it We may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things We have created,- cattle and men in great numbers. [RK]:With it, we revive dead lands and provide drink for our creations - multitudes of animals and humans.
99 | [25:50] Line:2905 |
| ||
[YA]: And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught) but (rank) ingratitude. [RK]:We have distributed it among them in exact measure, that they may take heed. But most people insist upon disbelieving.
100 | [26:8] Line:2940 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. [RK]:This should be a sufficient proof for them, but most of them are not believers.
