[YA]: (Zakariya) said: "O my Lord! give me a Sign." "Thy Sign," was the answer, "Shall be that thou shalt speak to no man for three nights, although thou art not dumb." [RK]:He said, "My Lord, give me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three consecutive nights."
152 | [19:21] Line:2271 |
| ||
[YA]: He said: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us':It is a matter (so) decreed." [RK]:He said, "Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me. We will render him a sign for the people, and mercy from us. This is a predestined matter.' "
153 | [20:59] Line:2407 |
| ||
[YA]: Moses said: "Your tryst is the Day of the Festival, and let the people be assembled when the sun is well up." [RK]:He said, "Your appointed time shall be the day of festivities. Let us all meet in the forenoon."
154 | [21:1] Line:2484 |
| ||
[YA]: Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. [RK]:Fast approaching is the reckoning for the people, but they are oblivious, averse.
155 | [21:61] Line:2544 |
| ||
[YA]: They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." [RK]:They said, "Bring him before the eyes of all the people, that they may bear witness."
156 | [22:1] Line:2596 |
| ||
[YA]: O mankind! fear your Lord! for the convulsion of the Hour (of Judgment) will be a thing terrible! [RK]:O people, you shall reverence your Lord, for the quaking of the Hour is something horrendous.
157 | [22:2] Line:2597 |
| ||
[YA]: The Day ye shall see it, every mother giving suck shall forget her suckling-babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load (unformed): thou shalt see mankind as in a drunken riot, yet not drunk: but dreadful will be the Wrath of Allah. [RK]:The day you witness it, even a nursing mother will discard her infant, and a pregnant woman will abort her fetus. You will see the people staggering, as if they are intoxicated, even though they are not intoxicated. This is because GOD's retribution is so awesome.
158 | [22:3] Line:2598 |
| ||
[YA]: And yet among men there are such as dispute about Allah, without knowledge, and follow every evil one obstinate in rebellion! [RK]:Among the people, there are those who argue about GOD without knowledge, and follow every rebellious devil.
159 | [22:5] Line:2600 |
| ||
[YA]: O mankind! if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), thou seest the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs). [RK]:O people, if you have any doubt about resurrection, (remember that) we created you from dust, and subsequently from a tiny drop, which turns into a hanging (embryo), then it becomes a fetus that is given life or deemed lifeless. We thus clarify things for you. We settle in the wombs whatever we will for a predetermined period. We then bring you out as infants, then you reach maturity. While some of you die young, others live to the worst age, only to find out that no more knowledge can be attained beyond a certain limit. Also, you look at a land that is dead, then as soon as we shower it with water, it vibrates with life and grows all kinds of beautiful plants.
160 | [22:8] Line:2603 |
| ||
[YA]: Yet there is among men such a one as disputes about Allah, without Knowledge, without Guidance, and without a Book of Enlightenment,- [RK]:Among the people there is the one who argues about GOD without knowledge, and without guidance, and without an enlightening scripture.
161 | [22:11] Line:2606 |
| ||
[YA]: There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the verge: if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a trial comes to them, they turn on their faces: they lose both this world and the Hereafter: that is loss for all to see! [RK]:Among the people there is the one who worships GOD conditionally. If things go his way, he is content. But if some adversity befalls him, he makes an about-face. Thus, he loses both this life and the Hereafter. Such is the real loss.
162 | [22:18] Line:2613 |
| ||
[YA]: Seest thou not that to Allah bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as Allah shall disgrace,- None can raise to honour: for Allah carries out all that He wills. [RK]:Do you not realize that to GOD prostrates everyone in the heavens and the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and the animals, and many people? Many others among the people are committed to doom. Whomever GOD shames, none will honor him. Everything is in accordance with GOD's will.
163 | [22:25] Line:2620 |
| ||
[YA]: As to those who have rejected (Allah), and would keep back (men) from the Way of Allah, and from the Sacred Mosque, which We have made (open) to (all) men - equal is the dweller there and the visitor from the country - and any whose purpose therein is profanity or wrong-doing - them will We cause to taste of a most Grievous Penalty. [RK]:Surely, those who disbelieve and repulse others from the path of GOD, and from the Sacred Masjid that we designated for all the people - be they natives or visitors - and seek to pollute it and corrupt it, we will afflict them with painful retribution.
164 | [22:27] Line:2622 |
| ||
[YA]: "And proclaim the Pilgrimage among men: they will come to thee on foot and (mounted) on every kind of camel, lean on account of journeys through deep and distant mountain highways; [RK]:"And proclaim that the people shall observe Hajj pilgrimage. They will come to you walking or riding on various exhausted (means of transportation). They will come from the farthest locations."
165 | [22:40] Line:2635 |
| ||
[YA]: (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will). [RK]:They were evicted from their homes unjustly, for no reason other than saying, "Our Lord is GOD." If it were not for GOD's supporting of some people against others, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and masjids - where the name of GOD is commemorated frequently - would have been destroyed. Absolutely, GOD supports those who support Him. GOD is Powerful, Almighty.
166 | [22:49] Line:2644 |
| ||
[YA]: Say: "O men! I am (sent) to you only to give a Clear Warning: [RK]:Say, "O people, I have been sent to you as a profound warner."
167 | [22:65] Line:2660 |
| ||
[YA]: Seest thou not that Allah has made subject to you (men) all that is on the earth, and the ships that sail through the sea by His Command? He withholds the sky (rain) from failing on the earth except by His leave: for Allah is Most Kind and Most Merciful to man. [RK]:Do you not see that GOD has committed in your service everything on earth? The ships run in the ocean by His command. He prevents the heavenly bodies from crashing onto the earth, except in accordance with His command. GOD is Most Kind towards the people, Most Merciful.
168 | [22:73] Line:2668 |
| ||
[YA]: O men! Here is a parable set forth! listen to it! Those on whom, besides Allah, ye call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the purpose! and if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition! [RK]:O people, here is a parable that you must ponder carefully: the idols you set up beside GOD can never create a fly, even if they banded together to do so. Furthermore, if the fly steals anything from them, they cannot recover it; weak is the pursuer and the pursued.
169 | [22:75] Line:2670 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah chooses messengers from angels and from men for Allah is He Who hears and sees (all things). [RK]:GOD chooses from among the angels messengers, as well as from among the people. GOD is Hearer, Seer.
170 | [22:78] Line:2673 |
| ||
[YA]: And strive in His cause as ye ought to strive, (with sincerity and under discipline). He has chosen you, and has imposed no difficulties on you in religion; it is the cult of your father Abraham. It is He Who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (Revelation); that the Messenger may be a witness for you, and ye be witnesses for mankind! So establish regular Prayer, give regular Charity, and hold fast to Allah! He is your Protector - the Best to protect and the Best to help! [RK]:You shall strive for the cause of GOD as you should strive for His cause. He has chosen you and has placed no hardship on you in practicing your religion - the religion of your father Abraham. He is the one who named you "Submitters" originally. Thus, the messenger shall serve as a witness among you, and you shall serve as witnesses among the people. Therefore, you shall observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat), and hold fast to GOD; He is your Lord, the best Lord and the best Supporter.
171 | [24:35] Line:2826 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things. [RK]:GOD is the light of the heavens and the earth. The allegory of His light is that of a concave mirror behind a lamp that is placed inside a glass container. The glass container is like a bright, pearl-like star. The fuel thereof is supplied from a blessed oil-producing tree, that is neither eastern, nor western. Its oil is almost self-radiating; needs no fire to ignite it. Light upon light. GOD guides to His light whoever wills (to be guided). GOD thus cites the parables for the people. GOD is fully aware of all things.
172 | [25:37] Line:2892 |
| ||
[YA]: And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;- [RK]:Similarly, when the people of Noah disbelieved the messengers, we drowned them, and we set them up as a sign for the people. We have prepared for the transgressors a painful retribution.
173 | [25:49] Line:2904 |
| ||
[YA]: That with it We may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things We have created,- cattle and men in great numbers. [RK]:With it, we revive dead lands and provide drink for our creations - multitudes of animals and humans.
174 | [25:50] Line:2905 |
| ||
[YA]: And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught) but (rank) ingratitude. [RK]:We have distributed it among them in exact measure, that they may take heed. But most people insist upon disbelieving.
175 | [26:39] Line:2971 |
| ||
[YA]: And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?- [RK]:The people were told: "Come one and all; let us gather together here.
176 | [26:183] Line:3115 |
| ||
[YA]: "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. [RK]:"Do not cheat the people out of their rights, and do not roam the earth corruptingly.
177 | [27:16] Line:3175 |
| ||
[YA]: And Solomon was David's heir. He said: "O ye people! We have been taught the speech of birds, and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things: this is indeed Grace manifest (from Allah.)" [RK]:Solomon was David's heir. He said, "O people, we have been endowed with understanding the language of the birds, and all kinds of things have been bestowed upon us. This is indeed a real blessing."
178 | [27:56] Line:3215 |
| ||
[YA]: But his people gave no other answer but this: they said, "Drive out the followers of Lut from your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!" [RK]:The only response from his people was their saying, "Banish Lot's family from your town; they are people who wish to be pure."
179 | [27:73] Line:3232 |
| ||
[YA]: But verily thy Lord is full of grace to mankind: Yet most of them are ungrateful. [RK]:Your Lord is full of grace towards the people, but most of them are unappreciative.
180 | [27:82] Line:3241 |
| ||
[YA]: And when the Word is fulfilled against them (the unjust), we shall produce from the earth a beast to (face) them: He will speak to them, for that mankind did not believe with assurance in Our Signs. [RK]:At the right time, we will produce for them a creature, made of earthly materials, declaring that the people are not certain about our revelations.
181 | [28:23] Line:3275 |
| ||
[YA]: And when he arrived at the watering (place) in Madyan, he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks). He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take back (their flocks): And our father is a very old man." [RK]:When he reached Midyan's water, he found a crowd of people watering, and noticed two women waiting on the side. He said, "What is it that you need?" They said, "We are not able to water, until the crowd disperses, and our father is an old man."
182 | [28:43] Line:3295 |
| ||
[YA]: We did reveal to Moses the Book after We had destroyed the earlier generations, (to give) Insight to men, and guidance and Mercy, that they might receive admonition. [RK]:We gave Moses the scripture - after having annihilated the previous generations, and after setting the examples through them - to provide enlightenment for the people, and guidance, and mercy, that they may take heed.
183 | [29:2] Line:3342 |
| ||
[YA]: Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? [RK]:Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe," without being put to the test?
184 | [29:10] Line:3350 |
| ||
[YA]: Then there are among men such as say, "We believe in Allah"; but when they suffer affliction in (the cause of) Allah, they treat men's oppression as if it were the Wrath of Allah! And if help comes (to thee) from thy Lord, they are sure to say, "We have (always) been with you!" Does not Allah know best all that is in the hearts of all creation? [RK]:Among the people there are those who say, "We believe in GOD," but as soon as they suffer any hardship because of GOD, they equate the people's persecution with GOD's retribution. But if blessings from your Lord come your way, they say, "We were with you." Is GOD not fully aware of the people's innermost thoughts?
185 | [29:10] Line:3350 |

186 | [29:43] Line:3383 |
| ||
[YA]: And such are the Parables We set forth for mankind, but only those understand them who have knowledge. [RK]:We cite these examples for the people, and none appreciate them except the knowledgeable.
187 | [29:67] Line:3407 |
| ||
[YA]: Do they not then see that We have made a sanctuary secure, and that men are being snatched away from all around them? Then, do they believe in that which is vain, and reject the Grace of Allah? [RK]:Have they not seen that we have established a Sacred Sanctuary that we made secure, while all around them the people are in constant danger? Would they still believe in falsehood, and reject GOD's blessings?
188 | [30:6] Line:3415 |
| ||
[YA]: (It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not. [RK]:Such is GOD's promise - and GOD never breaks His promise - but most people do not know.
189 | [30:8] Line:3417 |
| ||
[YA]: Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)! [RK]:Why do they not reflect on themselves? GOD did not create the heavens and the earth, and everything between them, except for a specific purpose, and for a specific life span. However, most people, with regard to meeting their Lord, are disbelievers.
190 | [30:30] Line:3439 |
| ||
[YA]: So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith: (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind: no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah: that is the standard Religion: but most among mankind understand not. [RK]:Therefore, you shall devote yourself to the religion of strict monotheism. Such is the natural instinct placed into the people by GOD. Such creation of GOD will never change. This is the perfect religion, but most people do not know.
191 | [30:30] Line:3439 |
| ||

192 | [30:33] Line:3442 |
| ||
[YA]: When trouble touches men, they cry to their Lord, turning back to Him in repentance: but when He gives them a taste of Mercy as from Himself, behold, some of them pay part-worship to other god's besides their Lord,- [RK]:When adversity afflicts the people, they turn to their Lord, totally devoting themselves to Him. But then, as soon as He showers them with mercy, some of them revert to idol worship.
193 | [30:36] Line:3445 |
| ||
[YA]: When We give men a taste of Mercy, they exult thereat: and when some evil afflicts them because of what their (own) hands have sent forth, behold, they are in despair! [RK]:When we bestow mercy upon the people, they rejoice therein. But when adversity befalls them, as a consequence of their own works, they become despondent.
194 | [30:39] Line:3448 |
| ||
[YA]: That which ye lay out for increase through the property of (other) people, will have no increase with Allah: but that which ye lay out for charity, seeking the Countenance of Allah, (will increase): it is these who will get a recompense multiplied. [RK]:The usury that is practiced to increase some people's wealth, does not gain anything at GOD. But if you give to charity, seeking GOD's pleasure, these are the ones who receive their reward manifold.
195 | [30:41] Line:3450 |
| ||
[YA]: Mischief has appeared on land and sea because of (the meed) that the hands of men have earned, that (Allah) may give them a taste of some of their deeds: in order that they may turn back (from Evil). [RK]:Disasters have spread throughout the land and sea, because of what the people have committed. He thus lets them taste the consequences of some of their works, that they may return (to the right works).
196 | [30:58] Line:3467 |
| ||
[YA]: verily We have propounded for men, in this Qur'an every kind of Parable: But if thou bring to them any Sign, the Unbelievers are sure to say, "Ye do nothing but talk vanities." [RK]:Thus, we have cited for the people in this Quran all kinds of examples. Yet, no matter what kind of proof you present to the disbelievers, they say, "You are falsifiers."
197 | [31:6] Line:3475 |
| ||
[YA]: But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty. [RK]:Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus divert others from the path of GOD without knowledge, and take it in vain. These have incurred a shameful retribution.
198 | [31:18] Line:3487 |
| ||
[YA]: "And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster. [RK]:"You shall not treat the people with arrogance, nor shall you roam the earth proudly. GOD does not like the arrogant showoffs.
199 | [31:20] Line:3489 |
| ||
[YA]: Do ye not see that Allah has subjected to your (use) all things in the heavens and on earth, and has made his bounties flow to you in exceeding measure, (both) seen and unseen? Yet there are among men those who dispute about Allah, without knowledge and without guidance, and without a Book to enlighten them! [RK]:Do you not see that GOD has committed in your service everything in the heavens and the earth, and has showered you with His blessings - obvious and hidden? Yet, some people argue about GOD without knowledge, without guidance, and without the enlightening scripture.
200 | [31:33] Line:3502 |
| ||
[YA]: O mankind! do your duty to your Lord, and fear (the coming of) a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily, the promise of Allah is true: let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah. [RK]:O people, you shall reverence your Lord, and fear a day when a father cannot help his own child, nor can a child help his father. Certainly, GOD's promise is truth. Therefore, do not be distracted by this life; do not be distracted from GOD by mere illusions.
