[YA]: we bestowed (in the past) Wisdom on Luqman: "Show (thy) gratitude to Allah." Any who is (so) grateful does so to the profit of his own soul: but if any is ungrateful, verily Allah is free of all wants, Worthy of all praise. [RK]:We have endowed Luqmaan with wisdom: "You shall be appreciative of GOD." Whoever is appreciative is appreciative for his own good. As for those who turn unappreciative, GOD is in no need, Praiseworthy.
252 | [32:23] Line:3526 |
| ||
[YA]: We did indeed aforetime give the Book to Moses: be not then in doubt of its reaching (thee): and We made it a guide to the Children of Israel. [RK]:We have given Moses the scripture - do not harbor any doubt about meeting Him - and we made it a guide for the Children of Israel.
253 | [33:15] Line:3548 |
| ||
[YA]: And yet they had already covenanted with Allah not to turn their backs, and a covenant with Allah must (surely) be answered for. [RK]:They had pledged to GOD in the past that they would not turn around and flee; making a pledge with GOD involves a great responsibility.
254 | [33:18] Line:3551 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily Allah knows those among you who keep back (men) and those who say to their brethren, "Come along to us", but come not to the fight except for just a little while. [RK]:GOD is fully aware of the hinderers among you, and those who say to their comrades, "Let us all stay behind." Rarely do they mobilize for defense.
255 | [33:21] Line:3554 |
| ||
[YA]: Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah. [RK]:The messenger of GOD has set up a good example for those among you who seek GOD and the Last Day, and constantly think about GOD.
256 | [33:50] Line:3583 |
| ||
[YA]: O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [RK]:O prophet, we made lawful for you your wives to whom you have paid their due dowry, or what you already have, as granted to you by GOD. Also lawful for you in marriage are the daughters of your father's brothers, the daughters of your father's sisters, the daughters of your mother's brothers, the daughters of your mother's sisters, who have emigrated with you. Also, if a believing woman gave herself to the prophet - by forfeiting the dowry - the prophet may marry her without a dowry, if he so wishes. However, her forfeiting of the dowry applies only to the prophet, and not to the other believers. We have already decreed their rights in regard to their spouses or what they already have. This is to spare you any embarrassment. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
257 | [34:10] Line:3616 |
| ||
[YA]: We bestowed Grace aforetime on David from ourselves: "O ye Mountains! Sing ye back the Praises of Allah with him! and ye birds (also)! And We made the iron soft for him;- [RK]:We endowed David with blessings from us: "O mountains, submit with him, and you too, O birds." We softened the iron for him.
258 | [34:15] Line:3621 |
| ||
[YA]: There was, for Saba, aforetime, a Sign in their home-land - two Gardens to the right and to the left. "Eat of the Sustenance (provided) by your Lord, and be grateful to Him: a territory fair and happy, and a Lord Oft-Forgiving! [RK]:Sheba's homeland used to be a marvel, with two gardens on the right and the left. Eat from your Lord's provisions, and be appreciative of Him - good land, and a forgiving Lord.
259 | [34:20] Line:3626 |
| ||
[YA]: And on them did Satan prove true his idea, and they followed him, all but a party that believed. [RK]:Satan found them readily fulfilling his expectations. They followed him, except a few believers.
260 | [34:53] Line:3659 |
| ||
[YA]: Seeing that they did reject Faith (entirely) before, and that they (continually) cast (slanders) on the unseen from a position far off? [RK]:They have rejected it in the past; they have decided instead to uphold conjecture and guesswork.
261 | [36:7] Line:3712 |
| ||
[YA]: The Word is proved true against the greater part of them: for they do not believe. [RK]:It has been predetermined that most of them do not believe.
262 | [36:62] Line:3767 |
| ||
[YA]: "But he did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did ye not, then, understand? [RK]:He has misled multitudes of you. Did you not possess any understanding?
263 | [37:71] Line:3859 |
| ||
[YA]: And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- [RK]:Most of the previous generations have strayed in the same manner.
264 | [37:72] Line:3860 |
| ||
[YA]: But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- [RK]:We have sent to them warners.
265 | [37:75] Line:3863 |
| ||
[YA]: (In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. [RK]:Thus, Noah called upon us, and we were the best responders.
266 | [37:105] Line:3893 |
| ||
[YA]: "Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right. [RK]:"You have believed the dream." We thus reward the righteous.
267 | [37:114] Line:3902 |
| ||
[YA]: Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron, [RK]:We also blessed Moses and Aaron.
268 | [37:158] Line:3946 |
| ||
[YA]: And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! [RK]:They even invented a special relationship between Him and the jinns. The jinns themselves know that they are subservient.
269 | [37:171] Line:3959 |
| ||
[YA]: Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), [RK]:Our decision is already decreed for our servants the messengers.
270 | [38:24] Line:3994 |
| ||
[YA]: (David) said: "He has undoubtedly wronged thee in demanding thy (single) ewe to be added to his (flock of) ewes: truly many are the partners (in business) who wrong each other: Not so do those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and how few are they?"...and David gathered that We had tried him: he asked forgiveness of his Lord, fell down, bowing (in prostration), and turned (to Allah in repentance). [RK]:He said, "He is being unfair to you by asking to combine your sheep with his. Most people who combine their properties treat each other unfairly, except those who believe and work righteousness, and these are so few." Afterwards, David wondered if he made the right judgment. He thought that we were testing him. He then implored his Lord for forgiveness, bowed down, and repented.
271 | [38:34] Line:4004 |
| ||
[YA]: And We did try Solomon: We placed on his throne a body (without life); but he did turn (to Us in true devotion): [RK]:We thus put Solomon to the test; we blessed him with vast material wealth, but he steadfastly submitted.
272 | [39:27] Line:4085 |
| ||
[YA]: We have put forth for men, in this Qur'an every kind of Parable, in order that they may receive admonition. [RK]:We have cited for the people every kind of example in this Quran, that they may take heed.
273 | [39:50] Line:4108 |
| ||
[YA]: Thus did the (generations) before them say! But all that they did was of no profit to them. [RK]:Those before them have uttered the same thing, and their earnings did not help them in the least.
274 | [39:59] Line:4117 |
| ||
[YA]: "(The reply will be:) 'Nay, but there came to thee my Signs, and thou didst reject them: thou wast Haughty, and became one of those who reject faith!'" [RK]:Yes indeed (you did get enough chances). My proofs came to you, but you rejected them, turned arrogant, and became a disbeliever.
275 | [39:65] Line:4123 |
| ||
[YA]: But it has already been revealed to thee,- as it was to those before thee,- "If thou wert to join (gods with Allah), truly fruitless will be thy work (in life), and thou wilt surely be in the ranks of those who lose (all spiritual good)". [RK]:It has been revealed to you, and to those before you that if you ever commit idol worship, all your works will be nullified, and you will be with the losers.
276 | [40:23] Line:4156 |
| ||
[YA]: Of old We sent Moses, with Our Signs and an authority manifest, [RK]:We sent Moses with our signs and a profound authority.
277 | [40:28] Line:4161 |
| ||
[YA]: A believer, a man from among the people of Pharaoh, who had concealed his faith, said: "Will ye slay a man because he says, 'My Lord is Allah'?- when he has indeed come to you with Clear (Signs) from your Lord? and if he be a liar, on him is (the sin of) his lie: but, if he is telling the Truth, then will fall on you something of the (calamity) of which he warns you: Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies! [RK]:A believing man among Pharaoh's people, who was concealing his belief, said, "How can you kill a man just for saying, `My Lord is GOD,' and he has shown you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is a liar, that is his problem, and if he is truthful, you benefit from his promises. Surely, GOD does not guide any transgressor, liar.
278 | [40:34] Line:4167 |
| ||
[YA]: "And to you there came Joseph in times gone by, with Clear Signs, but ye ceased not to doubt of the (Mission) for which he had come: At length, when he died, ye said: 'No messenger will Allah send after him.' thus doth Allah leave to stray such as transgress and live in doubt,- [RK]:Joseph had come to you before that with clear revelations, but you continued to doubt his message. Then, when he died you said, "GOD will not send any other messenger after him. (He was the last messenger)!" GOD thus sends astray those who are transgressors, doubtful.
279 | [40:48] Line:4181 |
| ||
[YA]: Those who had been arrogant will say: "We are all in this (Fire)! Truly, Allah has judged between (his) Servants!" [RK]:The leaders will say, "We are all in this together. GOD has judged among the people."
280 | [40:53] Line:4186 |
| ||
[YA]: We did aforetime give Moses the (Book of) Guidance, and We gave the book in inheritance to the Children of Israel,- [RK]:We have given Moses the guidance, and made the Children of Israel inherit the scripture.
281 | [40:78] Line:4211 |
| ||
[YA]: We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods. [RK]:We have sent messengers before you - some of them we mentioned to you, and some we did not mention to you. No messenger can produce any miracle without GOD's authorization. Once GOD's judgment is issued, the truth dominates, and the falsifiers are exposed and humiliated.
282 | [40:85] Line:4218 |
| ||
[YA]: But their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) Allah's Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of Allah perish (utterly)! [RK]:Their belief then could not help them in the least, once they saw our retribution. Such is GOD's system that has been established to deal with His creatures; the disbelievers are always doomed.
283 | [41:25] Line:4243 |
| ||
[YA]: And We have destined for them intimate companions (of like nature), who made alluring to them what was before them and behind them; and the sentence among the previous generations of Jinns and men, who have passed away, is proved against them; for they are utterly lost. [RK]:We assign to them companions who adorn everything they do in their eyes. Thus, they end up incurring the same fate as the previous communities of jinns and humans, who were also losers.
284 | [41:43] Line:4261 |
| ||
[YA]: Nothing is said to thee that was not said to the messengers before thee: that thy lord has at his Command (all) forgiveness as well as a most Grievous Penalty. [RK]:What is said to you is precisely what was said to the previous messengers. Your Lord possesses forgiveness, and He also possesses painful retribution.
285 | [41:45] Line:4263 |
| ||
[YA]: We certainly gave Moses the Book aforetime: but disputes arose therein. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (their differences) would have been settled between them: but they remained in suspicious disquieting doubt thereon. [RK]:We have given Moses the scripture and it was also disputed. If it were not for your Lord's predetermined decision, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, they harbor too many doubts.
286 | [43:46] Line:4371 |
| ||
[YA]: We did send Moses aforetime, with Our Signs, to Pharaoh and his Chiefs: He said, "I am a messenger of the Lord of the Worlds." [RK]:For example, we sent Moses with our proofs to Pharaoh and his elders, proclaiming: "I am a messenger from the Lord of the universe."
287 | [43:63] Line:4388 |
| ||
[YA]: When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me. [RK]:When Jesus went with the proofs, he said, "I bring to you wisdom, and to clarify some of the matters in which you dispute. You shall reverence GOD and obey me.
288 | [43:78] Line:4403 |
| ||
[YA]: Verily We have brought the Truth to you: but most of you have a hatred for Truth. [RK]:"We have given you the truth, but most of you hate the truth."
289 | [44:13] Line:4427 |
| ||
[YA]: How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- [RK]:Now that it is too late, they remember! An enlightening messenger had come to them.
290 | [44:17] Line:4431 |
| ||
[YA]: We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable, [RK]:We have tested before them the people of Pharaoh; an honorable messenger went to them.
291 | [44:30] Line:4444 |
| ||
[YA]: We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, [RK]:Meanwhile, we saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating persecution.
292 | [44:32] Line:4446 |
| ||
[YA]: And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, [RK]:We have chosen them from among all the people, knowingly.
293 | [45:16] Line:4489 |
| ||
[YA]: We did aforetime grant to the Children of Israel the Book the Power of Command, and Prophethood; We gave them, for Sustenance, things good and pure; and We favoured them above the nations. [RK]:We have given the Children of Israel the scripture, wisdom, and prophethood, and provided them with good provisions; we bestowed upon them more blessings than any other people.
294 | [46:17] Line:4527 |
| ||
[YA]: But (there is one) who says to his parents, "Fie on you! Do ye hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up, even though generations have passed before me (without rising again)?" And they two seek Allah's aid, (and rebuke the son): "Woe to thee! Have faith! for the promise of Allah is true." But he says, "This is nothing but tales of the ancients!" [RK]:Then there is the one who says to his parents, "Woe to you; are you telling me that (after death) I will come back to life? How come those who died before us never come back?" The parents would cry for GOD's help and say, "Woe to you; please believe! GOD's promise is the truth." He would say, "Tales from the past!"
295 | [46:18] Line:4528 |
| ||
[YA]: Such are they against whom is proved the sentence among the previous generations of Jinns and men, that have passed away; for they will be (utterly) lost. [RK]:Such are the ones stamped as disbelievers among every generation of jinns and humans; they are losers.
296 | [46:21] Line:4531 |
| ||
[YA]: Mention (Hud) one of 'Ad's (own) brethren: Behold, he warned his people about the winding Sand-tracts: but there have been warners before him and after him: "Worship ye none other than Allah: Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Mighty Day." [RK]:Recall that the brother of `Aad warned his people at the dunes - numerous warnings were also delivered before him and after him: "You shall not worship except GOD. I fear for you the retribution of a great day."
297 | [46:26] Line:4536 |
| ||
[YA]: And We had firmly established them in a (prosperity and) power which We have not given to you (ye Quraish!) and We had endowed them with (faculties of) hearing, seeing, heart and intellect: but of no profit to them were their (faculties of) hearing, sight, and heart and intellect, when they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah; and they were (completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at! [RK]:We had established them in the same way as we established you, and provided them with hearing, eyes, and minds. But their hearing, eyes, and minds did not help them at all. This is because they decided to disregard GOD's revelations. Thus, the prophecies and warnings that they ridiculed have caused their doom.
298 | [46:27] Line:4537 |
| ||
[YA]: We destroyed aforetime populations round about you; and We have shown the Signs in various ways, that they may turn (to Us). [RK]:We have annihilated many communities around you, after we had explained the proofs, that they might repent.
299 | [48:18] Line:4601 |
| ||
[YA]: Allah's Good Pleasure was on the Believers when they swore Fealty to thee under the Tree: He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down Tranquillity to them; and He rewarded them with a speedy Victory; [RK]:GOD is pleased with the believers who pledged allegiance to you under the tree. He knew what was in their hearts and, consequently, He blessed them with contentment, and rewarded them with an immediate victory.
300 | [48:21] Line:4604 |
| ||
[YA]: And other gains (there are), which are not within your power, but which Allah has compassed: and Allah has power over all things. [RK]:As for the group that you could not possibly defeat, GOD took care of them; GOD is Omnipotent.
